  1. For feet, copy of the official titan sets at first, because those are a decent scale are quite stable. Otherwise, I've found that Mata and Hordika torsos make neat feet, as I've done on two of my BBCC mechs. Mata Torso work well for shins or thighs as well IMO. For waists, I typically start with a Inika/Piraka Torso piece or Metru hips, then I bulk it up with random armour parts and stabilisers similar to the ones in Takanuva or Icarax.
  2. I like the overall shape of the MOC, and I love the chest build and creative head. It's a pity those tri-joint things don't come in trans. I don't it complies with BBCC53's hand requirement though. Gun-hands aren't allowed. The buzzdroid on the back is a bit distracting, but the engine on top of it is The feet could do with some brighter red and orange, because the black and dark-red make it hide away from the rest of the MOC. One photography tip - On this picture you should take it from further away and zoom in, because there the flash didn't cover all the model. I also like the lower nozzle of the second gun hand. I recommend you to keep experimenting with bigger MOCs, because you'll learn a lot of new techniques to keep the MOCs stable, and they always look epic in the end because of their size.
  3. Really? I thought they were too big... I'm just annoyed that I couldn't make the fingers orange or red. That probably would've suited better, but I was determined to use an organic Barraki head in a non-organic way, and I tried my best to include as little silver parts over the entire MOC. Now that I think of it though, A gunmetal Takadox head would've been way better.
  4. They did increase all the BIONICLE sets by $5 each, which was pretty because it meant the cheapest sets increased 50%. However, for City sets I think it's stayed normal, with the Minifig Pack being much cheaper that the US price. Toyworld seems to order random big sets from time-to-time, but the only one I've seen (and got) is Town Plan. As for the UCS MF, I'm doubtful of that because it's a $1000 set, and halfway through last year Kmart stocked them and some motorised AT-ATs and advertised them as exclusive to Kmart.
  5. I'm pretty sure the SP3 line will go well, because it's got neat things for everyone. The cool premise of police versus aliens in cool vehicles sells it for kids, and the neat aliens (especially the twins and orc-a-like) as well as the return of a proper space theme and numerous references to Classic Space will sell it for the AFOLs. And that complaint about SP3 being "specist" probably won't hold, because it's been done in LEGO many times recently with Mars Mission, Power Miners, Agents and even Castle. The bad guys are always non-human.
  6. The tap dancer was a cool MOC, it was daringly different, and it could've represented Certavus quite well. And I saw some other pictures were the MOC wasn't in a tap-dancing pose, and it looked pretty darn good.
  7. The main thing I really do to protect my bricks is keep them out of direct sunlight. I don't put many stickers on so that they don't peel off in flaky bits later as well. Finally, I don't MOC with the newer square ball-joints, because they're almost guaranteed to break after 3 or 4 dislocations and relocations.
  8. Probably converting a US figure to NZ, then adding another $50, plus the $10. That's usually how it works for big Star Wars sets. However, if it's that price, I doubt Toyworld would stock it. I was surprised enough that they had Town Plan sets last year, but that was much greater value for $200.
  9. Yes, NZ gets replacement parts. Hahli Inika for one, maybe on other sets as well...
  10. Do you actually have the piece? I do, and although it's clearly not designed as a Glatorian helmet (which it isn't, it's for 4+ Motorbikes), it fits pretty well, and isn't that buckety. As for your entry, it was awesome, just colour confused. Congrats on a close second though.
  11. Brickeens. Nice to see that he won, so now I better start on that art contest.
  12. Nah, now would be the best time to do it. Soo.....Who won?
  13. A news entry on BZP would've made that easier...
  14. If finding that link hasn't made you want to drop that thought, what are you ordering?
  15. The book looks neat, but those pictures aren't scans.
  16. For BZP's BBCC#53 Contest, I decided to make 5 different entries, seeing as I had the pieces avaliable, and I could use the pieces altogether to make a better MOC, because of the pieces are all different colours. Solian Giant My only elementally-based MOC for this contest, the Solian Giant is armed with a Cordak Blaster and a dual-laser gun. I found taking photos of this robot kind of annoying, because in quite a number of the photos the eyes weren't equally visible, and I don't have any cheese-slopes in trans-neon orange. Clock-work Crusader While building this I had fun sticking gears everywhere, to give the appearance of a cog-driven mech. The armaments of this MOC include the shoulder-zamor launcher, a shield, claws and laser-eye. I especially like the chest, and although it can't be seen too well on the picture, the chest is filled with gears and has a trans-green saw-blade as the heart/power-source. Blue Behemoth Features blue, DUPLO and street-cleaner brushes... For this MOC I focused on securing the five DUPLO tube pieces as armour for the robot. I also learnt a neat trick with DUPLO+SYSTEM/TECHNIC compatibility, which is that TECHNIC tubing fit tightly into a DUPLO stud, as shown on the chest of my MOC. The articulation of the Blue Behemoth is reasonable, with articulation in the limbs, claws, and shoulder mounted Zamor launchers. Heavy Artillery Steam Droid Seeing as I was making so many entries for BBCC, one of them had to be steam-punk. The Heavy Artillery Steam Droid is armed with two back-mounted cannons connected to the required canisters, as well as two wrist guns. The articulation of the droid is really good, with arm, finger, leg, hip, neck, head, waist and back-cannon articulation points. Shadow Enforcer This was the last MOC I made out of five for BBCC#53. It has a laser gun and claws on either arm, as well as dual flick-fire missiles on one arm, and mega-speakers on the other arm to announce it's arrival and strike fear in it's enemies. The MOC also contains 4 minifig flippers, 2 bananas, and a takadox head as (robotic) abs. The head is meant to look something like an evil laughing jackal/hyena head, although I don't think I captured it that well in the photo.
  17. I thought this was coming out on other platforms as well, wasn't it? I remember some time ago a picture of a Mars Mission mech being driven by a SP3 Alien, in the style of TT video games. Typically the DS is completely different to other platforms, so there is still hope!
  18. Don't worry, I was just suggesting, not criticising because I don't have any idea about what PAB selection is like as I've never used it.
  19. I wouldn't mind if it won again, but it would be unfair if it didn't. It seems that the staff just remade the poll to give the others another chance at winning, because they don't want the silver one to win.
  20. This was brought up yesterday in this topic. LEGO did it late last year for this year's products as well. I think they're just uploading the graphics in advance to make sure they'll work fine on the product launch.
  21. I'm going to have to vote again?! Entry 1 won fair and square in the final poll, I can't see why they can't just accept it.
  22. Not yet. The general consensus after some pages of worthless accusations to Entry 1 was that Entry 1 was winning because of the news entry, which invited many kids who love silver and didn't realise that it was a contest for the most canon looking Certavus.
  23. Along with those masks, the Komau, Felnas, Rode would be easily capable of breaking the Baterra's illusions. On top of that, many other masks would probably be able to at least defend against a Baterra if used correctly. The elemental powers of Toa would also let them destroy the surrounding area including the Baterra even if they don't know where the Baterra is. As another point (although really limited), if a Baterra took that form of a rock, a Toa of Stone or Earth would be able to detect them by realising that they cannot control that particular rock.
  24. If you've got the parts, do you mind making my sigfig? The most important things about my sigfig are the Harry Potter Remembrall head and any BIONICLE playset weapon. I love your yellow apartment though, especially the front wall and the way you've incorporated the sigfigs and the fire hydrant and barbecue from sets. I also like the 4-wide garage, but I know there are people who would seek for you to change that... (After seeing the silver bowl on the other side of the sleeping man's room, I'm definitely worried about him...) I've got two questions though - What's in the attic? There seems to be enough space to fit some neat details inside, such as forgotten documents and bodies. How many of yourself do you have? In this MOC alone you're eating chicken, taking photos of a lost cat and inspecting the lower floor all at the same time!
  25. I like the idea of the MOC, and the choice it presents to the Tusken Businessman. Personally I would stay on the garden side, because Anakin is on the Theme side and we all know what he thinks about Tuskens. As for the MOC itself, I like the garden a lot, although it might look better if you scattered some flowers or variety of plants among the grass to make it more interesting. On the themed side, it would be neat if you used plates and tiles to make some theme specific terrain under each character groups - desert around the aliens and cowboy, space-ship metal or any terrain that Dooku and Anakin fought on for them, sand/grass plus blood spill and treasure for the soldier and the recently deceased, and finally some grey rock with crystals scattered around for the Power Miners.
