Thanks for the review! This set is definitely a set that I'm getting, because although I don't have any other Indy sets, the amazingness of parts for such a small price/size is too good to pass up! Definitely a 10/10 set.

Bricklink. Glorious Bricklink.

Probably why BIONICLE doesn't try to make real life animals out of BIONICLE pieces. This thing makes the Klakk look good. Good for pieces though, and I'm still getting it due to the awesome poly-bag background.

That's the Mata Nui/Tahu theme music. That one comes in a full version on the MNOG. As for the Manas theme, the only time it plays in the MNOG isduring the Toa Kaita/Manas fight, and the music that I extracted from that scene is just a ten second background music loop. It didn't seem like the kind of music to have a full version, yet alone be playing on a radio station recently (2001 music for a kids online game...). Are you sure you didn't just here a similar theme AvSp?

Would you be able to include mine? It's the minifig in my avatar. The costume doesn't matter too much, as long as it's classy, but the main essentials are the HP Remembrall head and any BIONICLE minifig weapon.

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Brickthing replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
What did you enter? I can't remember any Star Wars entries, although I didn't really have a good look. -
New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Brickthing replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Wierd - I just checked my physical version and there is an entire section of 15 or so pages that don't count towards the catalogue page numbers. Of those, there is a LEGO page with the Motorised AT-AT for $249.99, as well as some IJ sets, the Hyena Bomber and a Police Station. No sales or anything. I presume the entire middle section of the catalogue is missing in the online version. -
New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"

It's in there, you musta missed the Star Wars LEGO page. As for sales, I'm really miffed that Kmart has only been doing 15% off recently as opposed to the 20-25% of last year. Especially seeing as the BIONICLE sets are now more expensive. Did anyone else enter the Toyworld LEGO comp at the Browns Bay Toyworld? I'm just interested to see if I've got competition... -
To my understanding, the Power Pack has three songs - The BIONICLE music, Hura Mafa Flow and Kumo Rocks. The Manas theme isn't one of those.

New Zealand: "Where to find Lego"
Brickthing replied to Legoman's topic in Buy, Sell, Trade and Finds
Kmart had it for $200 when it was out as well. -
Where would the entire version come from then? Is there an entire version?
-
I doubt it has artist or title info, because it came with the MNOG. There are a few topics on BZP where you could get it from, or you could probably find it in the files of the MNOG PC version.

I don't go there anyway, but the information always finds its way to here or other parts of the S&T Forum. And if we avoid it completely we end up looking silly when we try and come up with a theory about such things that have been answered prematurely by Greg. Front (I think) said something along the lines of that being the sword that Mata Nui would have, but was removed because of the Thornax Launcher. Antrozek - GB has slack posture. I think the beast that was said to have attacked Mata Nui was the Sandbat in the Reader, not a Vorox. And that's definitely a Vorox.

Rediscover the bustling streets of Classic Town CONTEST
Brickthing replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Town
I've started on my entry, but I've struck a potentially big problem for me - I've only got 4 classic smiley faces. However, I've got plenty enough of these moustache heads and sunglasses heads. My question is, can I make a Classic 'stache Town or a very sunny Classic Town, provided I still use only one head type, and that head type still has the underlying Classic-smile underneath? Otherwise I can't quite think how I could make a entry into a Bustling Streets of Classic Town contest with only 4 Minifigs. -
Yup, I do like the New Mata Muvi. Thanks for the link Ref! Two main improvements stand out to me sraight away- In that shot that looks like the teaser trailer, Mata Nui is now Metallic Yellongu as opposed to the Chrome gold that made up feel so ripped of with the set. Now the pain is eased a lot more and the Yellongu set looks more gold. Secondly, the Scarab Shield (cool name) is now the right colour, even though that colour is silver. As I said earlier, I understand why the mouth thing as been done, and it's certainly better than making a moving Ignika face. I just hope that hole isn't canon, because poor Ignika to have a chunk of itself cut out like that! Also, now the V-Man has skinny legs. On another note about the head, it's hard to tell if those lines above the V-Man on the close-up of Mata Muvi are dreaded-senseless eyebrows or if all the eyebrow expression will contained in the change of shape of Mata Muvi's eyes. I hope it's the later. On a final note, those ankle cuffs and new arm joints are looking snazzy on the set. Can't wait to get multiples. Also, there appear to be the mini-ball-joint/0.5+rod joint things to keep the leg armour in. I hope the designers utilise those typically-non-canister pieces in a combiner. On a completely different note, did anyone actually find out why the Vorox have blue 3 pins on their limbs?
-
Woah I just noticed - there is a mouth in that picture, it's just closed. There's a line across the knees of the V-Man. Pigbrick - is this the kind of mouth Mata Nui now has, or is it different?

I was wondering when this topic might come up. I happen to be personally affected by it. As you might know, I live in New Zealand, and in the North Shore region quite near to Rangitoto College, the school in New Zealand that sent our media into a craze after a group students returned from a school trip to Mexico with possible swine flu. I'm quite close friends with a family of some of the students, and the entire family had to be quarantined to their homes from last Sunday until yesterday. However, the situation for New Zealand was largely exaggerated by our media, and the few students who were confirmed to have it have now recovered without any spread of the disease, because of the quarantine. As far as I know, swine flu isn't in New Zealand any more, which is a relief. As for the rest of the world, especially Mexico and the United States, I hope that the situation will be controllable. I'm confident that the United States will be able to prevent the spread of disease in the States, and I hope Mexico will be able to suppress and control the disease as well. The main thing that bamboozles me with the outbreak is that apparently the Philippines have halted the import of pork from New Zealand. The specific influenza that has affected people is likely to have come from pigs, but it's just a slightly-more-than-potent virus that became transmittable to humans, and certainly not running rampant among pigs. More so, I can't understand how at the most, 11 students from a residential area in the middle of a city who caught the flu and are home-quarantined could possibly travel or spread the disease to the rural countryside and put the NZ pigs at danger.

I'm pleased that they didn't make the mask a moving face itself, and I suppose the cut-out is the most logical thing for showing Mata Nui's eyebrows. It's a pity that the set doesn't have this, but yeah, I won't die from this change. It will be interesting to see how the other characters like Gresh look though. That bug must be a try-hard Wall-E cockroach wannabe. IMO I don't like it, but BIONICLE 4 is a kiddie movie at heart, so kiddie touches must be expected. That said, the only way I want that thing to have any storyline significance is if Tuma kills it then Mata Nui goes all Ignika/GS-angry-spazz and kills Tuma because of it. Booster Rocket, it's a more appropriate name for a rocket booster for a space ship. As sad as we knowing what it is is, we still need to discover how it does what it does and what kind of creatures live there. I presume the future-telling star property of the Red Star as seen in MNOG is now de-canonised.
-
Would've preferred we found that out in a serial, or a couple of years down the track as promised. However, now that we know the purpose of the Red Star, and we also know that we weren't meant to know it for a while, doesn't that mean we will be returning to the MU as main storyline in a few years to see Makuta lift of?
-
Now that's Certavus! I always knew Bara Magnians didn't bother with graves, and where did you think the training dummies came from?
-
I know BIONICLE characters are technically cyborgs, but not the scary general grievous kind, with robotic faces that host an incomplete organic head inside...
-
IMO, it's okay if robotic mouths are incorporated sensibly into the face with a speaker/transformer-movie-mouth thing when appropriate on masks such as the Huna. Human mouths slapped on the mask make no sense at all. It also needs to be done in a way that makes it clear that the mouth is not part of the mask, there is just a well shaped hole in the mask for it. Eyebrows floating in front of masks make no sense, and where fail in the movie and are annoying in art. I personally prefer set style eyes, because they're most accurate, and you can still get a surprising amount of expression out of them by altering their shape behind the mask. I'm not sure what to make of movie eyes, because they looked alright and non-human enough, but they were still kinda freaky. As for human/organic eyes, they don't make sense at all, and it makes me think that the characters are freaky evil cyborgs like General Grievous.

Despite the storyline breaking free this year with mixed gender tribes, set-wise if there's been a girl, it was always a blue one. Most kids have probably picked up on that, and imagine the shock and horror on little Jimmy's face when he realised that his red BIONICLE was a girl! The story team probably has restrictions to keep all the main characters as guys, apart from the occasional girl to swat away the sexism complaints on BZP. I'm really surprised that Greg managed a female Gorast last year, although all those Makuta were practically "its" anyway, so it probably didn't matter.
-
In the BIONICLE design alone, they've been able to avoid using purple because it's not relevant. However, last year they released a company-wide decision to largely discontinue the colour, because it wasn't consistent enough. So it's not going to appear soon in the future in large amounts. (There is a small Indiana Jones set that has one purple piece, but that's probably because people won't be able to notice inconsistencies with one piece.)
-
Purple was largely discontinued because they had difficulties sustaining a consistent shade of purple between batches, and it wasn't worth the money and effort to fix it. Kiina (Blue summer Glatorian) is a she.
