  1. Or look at 'Prince of Persia' (another Disney license). Those sets weren't too badly priced, IMO.
  2. Impressive, 'chongcheng'! Any plans on a diorama, or some such thing?
  3. Wishing all of the EB staff, members and guests a VERY happy, safe, healthy and prosperous new year! Ditto to The LEGO Group and all of its employees. May 2011 be your best year yet! LITTLE PLASTIC BRICKS FOR EVERYONE!!!
  4. Some truly impressive armies here! Wow. If Photobucket ever stops messing with me, I'll try to upload some pics of my FAR smaller forces. LOL *edit* Okay, let's give this a shot. Now, I don't have any decent shots of my classic castle stuff, or my Royal Knights, KKI, KKII, Ninjas, Vikings, etc. I never really planned on taking 'army photos', so these were just kind of 'thrown together' along the way. For the 'Kingdoms' stuff, I don't have the two large sets yet, hence no king, etc. In addition, here are some pics of a VERY old layout I did with some Royal Knights, Dragon Masters, Fright Knights and Forestmen. Please excuse the crappy pic quality as they are old Polaroids.
  5. With regard to the 'which type of sword(s) will we see?' debate: keep in mind folks, we're talking about POTC and LEGO...neither of which has really been known to worry too much about being 'historically accurate'.
  6. Wow. Rather underwhelming. They really seem to have cheaped-out on the 'bone cage' and 'Isla De la Muerta' is just sad.
  7. 19? Dude, worry about 'drawing looks' when you're TWICE that age. LOL! I'm 42 and I spend so much time in the LEGO sections of stores that I start to worry folks will think I'm a pedophile.
  8. I'm pretty much a 'system' guy and as such, I don't have TONS of Technic parts, so using a multi-drawer storage unit works for the small elements (pins, etc) and for the beams, I just use a massive plastic peanut butter jar.
  9. Geez, 'Legoman'! Have you done nothing but BUILD since the quake? Wow.
  10. Thanks for the great review, White Fang! Even after such a great review, my opinion still stands unchanged: the Elf is the major player of this series. That gorgeous shield and the highly detailed scalemail armour is just SOOOOO impressive. (Thanks for the comparison of the two bows, as well. That was VERY helpful.) All in all, I think it's a great series...which will be eclipsed by series four, IMO. LOL! Oh, as to the 'no spare parts': I never considered that they were INTENTIONALLY included. I always just assumed that since the 'spares' were such small pieces, they passed through the machines too easily, hence the duplications. Perhaps now, the machines are more carefully calibrated, or have smaller 'funnels' for the parts to pass through, or some such thing? *shrug* Just speculating. Anyway, I can't wait to get my hands on this series...and a few extra Elves.
  11. Just started reading this thread today and I have to say, it's a shame that so many pics are no longer listed, since the comments on them make them seem quite impressive.
  12. Great polybag set! Thanks for the review! I really hope this one makes its way to Canada. We don't seem to get a lot of them up here but, we DID get a pretty good spread of the old 'defence archer' set, so we MIGHT get lucky with this one. *fingers crossed*
  13. Yup, huge sale going on now. I've also heard that TRU Canada has PoP for 50% off now, too...plus, they've got free shipping on orders over $100, so if you wanted the whole PoP series and you live in Canada, it would cost you about $150, depending on where you live and what your provincial taxes are. Not bad at all!
  14. I'll definitely be looking to pick up this new 'community workers' set, if it ever becomes available in Canada. It is a VAST improvement over past community workers sets...ESPECIALLY since it's not overloaded with trikes!
  15. Hello and welcome. "Special Edition" tends to refer to sets that are exclusive to certain retailers in any given geographic region.
  16. True. For now. Sherway Gardens location should be open in the Spring though, so maybe that means the stock has been ordered for that location too? (totally speculating, of course)
  17. Two trees and two different sized wheels in the carriage set. Nice. "Pitchfork" currently looks like a brown trident with the middle point cut off, or photoshopped out. Sets are looking really nice.
  18. Thanks for the pics! Dare we dream? Has TLG FINALLY listened? Will we now be seeing more non-exclusive civilian sets in the castle theme? Will we get more than just ONE set? Will the castle theme finally get the same attention that 'City' has received for years now? *fingers crossed*
  19. Just took a look on lego.com and I noticed that the Vader and Stormtrooper alarm clocks are back in stock, if anybody is looking for them.
  20. IMO, it looks much like a shorter version of the one from the 'City Centre Airport' set.
  21. Nice set. I have mine set up right next to me at the moment. LOL One thing that bothers me about it though: the 'road plate' for the garage...it's one stud more narrow on each end than the 'landing plate' it connects to. Makes it look kind of shoddy.

    Canadian Eh?

I don't know where in Canada you are but, Series Two is still available online from Mastermind Toys, if you don't have a store near you. They're currently "buy three, get a fourth free" but of course, they're blind packaging. Also, I notice that the stores are running low, so I don't know how long they'll be available online.
  23. The store I was at that day was the Richmond Hill "Mastermind" (Hillcrest Mall). The one in Aurora (Bayview & Wellington) is the 'sister store' I mentioned. Did more calling around yesterday and the boxes are going fast. Most stores are down to one box, though the lady my wife spoke to at Richmond Hill wouldn't actually SAY how many they had left. The location in Pickering Town Centre still had quite a pile though. Seven unopened boxes at the time, plus two on the shelf and some on the rack that holds the watches. Not sure if that total still holds as of today though. Tell those folks you know to get hopping! I have a feeling they're not going to last long! *edit* I certainly hope that $3.99 is NOT the new price for Series Three here in Canada. That's just nuts. I haven't looked to see if the price of 'impulse' sets has gone up too but, those were selling for $4.99(CDN) and you got more than just a fig. "Making a decent profit" is one thing but "totally gouging the consumer" is something else. I'll probably get my one complete set but, if that price hike goes through, I WON'T be getting the dozens of multiples that I bought from the first two series. Being a 'fan' of LEGO is one thing. Willingly being 'bent over' is something else.
  24. Thanks for the great review! Wow, that set comes with WAY MORE column pieces than I thought it did. Now I want it even more than I previously did. As for the green 'fish warrior'...I figured he was based on an angler fish, not a barracuda, since he also appears in 'Angler Attack' and has that monster-sized bottom jaw. Though I don't really care for the Atlantis sets, I DO really like the assorted 'fish warriors' that come with them and this particular set has a lot of other bits and pieces that are great for MOCs. A total 'must get', IMO.
  25. Happy birthday! I like those logo mugs. Nice and simple. Mind you, I also like the ones from the places like the LEGO store in Orlando, where you the pictures on the mugs, your name, plus the store's name/location. Jury is still out on which one I PREFER. Enjoy your gift card!
