Avalonia Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion

Mine is small too. three wagons (maybe a fourth) I have two wagons finished and working on the third and then to build the scene around it. I'm pretty proud of one of my wagons. think gypsy vargo with curves. Look forward to seeing what you have come up with. -

looking forward to it! things have slowed down this month for me too. Life seems to be getting in the way but I hope to have my intra-guild build King of the High Elves done this weekend as well as two free builds I have been working on, "Feast at the Captain's Hall" and the "Wonderous Antics of Barnum and his Convivial Troop" Then I can focus on the Embassy build! -

I like it! Im currently working on a MOC, and the wagons are central to its build. I agree with de Gothia, the multiple horses add to it and I think I will try to incorporate that aspect into my build! -

@C.J. nice little scene there. @Rolli Looks like it will be another impressive build! would love to have the cheese slopes to do a roof like that and your stair case is wonderful. @Doornroosje. nice and lively scene. I know what you mean by it being larger than you initially planned! A free build I am working on (hope to get my Bricklink order tomorrow to finish it) keeps growing! -
Nicely done. I'M a bit jealous of your Series 6 CMF. I haven't even seen them yet. I also want a few of those mushrooms!

Nicely done! has a great feel of excitement. The roof is nicely done the mix of tiles and slope pieces. -
Ahh I see it it now...the angle on the bottom photo is what I was going by but looking at the photos in your flickr album it is more clear! the more I look at it the more I find I like, nice details throughout the build. Way to set the bar again de Gothia. Are you recycling your builds by the way? I've had to recycle most mine but would love to make a small scene with a few buildings to represent my Hamlet of Circardia.

nicely done de gothia! the two buildings look fabulous together and the pots from the CMF look great! my only issue is that smoke coming from the chimney! There must be some strange winds in Albion!

thanks for the info. the last time I was in Florida was about a year ago (My dad lives in Tampa) We stopped at DD and as I approached the Lego store their was plywood over the windows! They were remodeling the store! My wife saw the look on my face and later told me I looked like a kid who just found out their was no Santa! They did have a temporary tent set up but it was so crowded and was lacking a true PaB wall. big let down. I was going to buy the Grand Emporium but they didn't have any so my wife let me get the Emerald Night instead and we ordered teh GE to be delivered. Sorry to take the topic off topic. I am planning on building my embassy in Kaliphlin but hitting a brick wall with my build. I have started a couple times but have torn it down as I wasn't happy with it. I have an idea now but I feel it might be a bit plain but hopefully I can spice it up with some details! -

You didn't rain on my parade. I've read about the Legoland PaB issues. But fortunately there is a Lego store at Downtown Disney! They have a huge store there and one of the largest PaB walls in the US if I am not mistaken. A few of the items want Ill likely have to go through Bricklink anyhow.... -

thanks for the reply. I found a blog, Brickbuilder, that individuals can update what's available on the walls. Unfortunately some of the stores haven't been updated for some time. I was trying to look to see if their was any sort of trend between the ones that have been updated recently. I might be better off just buying what I want on Bricklink. Even though it will be more per piece, I will save $60-$70 on what it would cost to drive up that way. Plus we are going to hit the Legoland in Florida during spring break and I could spend the money there. -

if you get a chance could you let me know what Lego had at the PAB wall? I know they are all different but was thinking of making a trip to mine but it is over three hours away. Don't want to drive to Charlotte to find out all they have are wheels and instrument gauge tiles. Looking forward to seeing your embassy complete and in the brick! -

nicely done Niku. Glad I made your cut;) Anyone else having issues with their embassy? I just cant seem to get something I like. I start, tear down, then start again. I keep shifting to a couple other builds I'm working on. Part of my problem is that I am having a hard idea figuring out what i want to build. -
South Carolina here! Sadly I haven't made any of the Southeast events but am going to try to go to the one in Raliegh this year.... Oh yeah and thanks for Sharing!

everytime I look at one of your builds I am in awe. they just seem so realistic. and thanks for the insight on how you built it.

very nice. I love the macro "Map" I may have to do something similar for my Hamlet of Circardia. I'm sure Lord Arlindus and his father Orthus will make many trips to Brulum Harbor.
-
Nice! I like your throne area. I've never done stop action but I like the way the flames flicked in the back ground in one scene and overall I thought it was well done. Now I have to wait for the end of the story thought!

Hey your pretty good, ever think of doing a tutorial? ;) So many nice details that I and many others try to emulate in our MOCs. Great inspirations for us all. I would love to see more photos though, especially of the tower portion and the part above the windows on the side is intriguing as well. Looking forward to the Mystic Isle build you eluded to as well!

Glad you like it. There is probably a dozen or two of the smaller foliage pieces on the base plates with another dozen or so flower stalks with some more used for the pine trees. I was lucky enough to get a couple cups of them at Pick a Brick wall at a lego store about a year or so ago.

nice little library. I like the technique on the roof with the minifig legs I might have to borrow that. Wish there were a few more photos. the entrance looks nice too but I really cant see it too well. Looking forward to your embassy

Crazy huh? I cleared out one store on Bricklink when I found some for .02 cents each but they only had about 200 -

Like DC said, more than you think! probably just double what you think you need. I was fortunate enough to get a cup or two of foliage myself from a PaB wall. Unfortunately, I live about three hours from the closest Lego store and usually only get to it once or twice a year. Kind of a crap shoot when I go as to what they have available though. I did get a good deal on Craigslist the other day with 75 tree pieces (a mix of small and regular pine trees, fruit trees and couple palms and even 7 cypress trees for $25) I think my kids and wife would hate it if I broke down my modulars. They typically get me one each year for my Birthday or Christmas and it is about the only Lego I'm allowed to keep in the living room! maybe one day when I get my lego room and my storage system more organized I can bring myself to breaking it down! good job on the background. As to photoshop eating the smoke, try using a mask (tons of photoshop tutorials to help) Just notice the spots on the cows, are they photoshopped too or are they brickforge made? -

I know I have some, but I just can't bring myself to break down my modular buildings. I thought about "borrowing" a dozen off the sidewalk of one for a build I'm working on but just didn't want to go down that slippery road! The real feat is aquiring more of those damn 1x1 round plates! If DC really wants to put out a great prize, he should put together a "builders Pack" of a couple 1000 1x1s, some brown tiles and 1x1 bricks with stud on the side! -

Congrats on all the winners in the tower builds. I appreciate the kind words, but when I first joined the guild I didn't know there were going to be awards. I just saw it as a opportunity to get off my butt and start putting bricks together again instead of just looking at everyone else's creations on the computer. I just enjoy getting honest feedback on my builds and have really enjoyed doing them (well the current one is doing my head in because I haven't really narrowed down what I want to do!) When I get a nice comment from a builder I admire, I feel pretty good. Of course if anyone want to send me some light blue grey bricks or some Dark blue gray 1x2 tiles I wouldn't mind! -
Sets: Dismantle for MOC, buy another, Bricklink instead...
MikeyB replied to legoalex919's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Bricklink can be addictive but I love it. parts seem cheap (oh its only 5 cents, I may as well get 50 and that hair piece looks cool may as well get 2 at $1.50 each.) but the next thing you know your order is over $30 when all you really wanted was some 1x4 reddish brown tiles......and then you do it 10 times in about six weeks..... but on the topic. I only have a few sets on display, the modular buildings, the MMV and the Yoda Sculpture set but I think I'm going to disassemble yoda for the tan, sand green and orangey-brownish bricks. Most everything else gets built and then typically scavenge for parts...
