  1. Great map JC, Does we know what scale it is? I would imagine it is a least a several days ride across the Guild's lands.
  2. fabulous build! Derfel Cardarm tutorial inspired me to build more MOC too. In fact I started the Defrel Cadarn Appreciation Society I like the railing on the balcony and likely will borrow a few other elements. Avalon Guild would be honored to have you join.
  3. The closest store to me is more than 3 hours away so when I do go, the wife understands that Im going to load up. My biggest problem right now is lack of organization of nearly 35 years of lego accumilation. That and space. It tends to make things a bit more difficult to find when I have to sort through tubs to find a 1x1 tile.... One day I will get it all sorted. maybe by then I can convince the wife to give me a room just for Lego....
  4. thanks for the feed back! I was inspited by LOTR for the tower but wanted to give it more of an Avalonia(nish?) feel by using light grey and wood. I was thinking of using white but I think it would have been too much going on color wise. Hope it works. I did modify the tops of the slopes by adding grey cheese slopes so the top isn't flat. I also have a BL order in to modify the window to change the grey arch to brown and modifying the path up to the tower. To be honest I rushed the path and the trees. I was lucky enough to get a couple PaB cups with the tree elements so I can do more. thanks as well. Maybe its the camera angle but the path isnt higher than the surroundings. It does step down to the road area. maybe it will be clearer with the modification I have planned (or better camera angles!)
  5. Very nice! As to the sling, would a neck peice from a cape work somehow? Or maybe just use the new bucket peice?
  6. News from Circardia Finally I present Arlindus, Captain of Circardia and the Phoenix Guard as he returns from deep in the Enchanted Forest and the Phoenix Guard. Also a WIP, the Tower of Circardia. It overlooks the town of Circardia and the main trade route into the Enchanted Forest. This is my first MOC and I would appreciate any C&C and feedback
  7. Not sure if it is accurate to the real thing, but some plant growth (using the tree pieces) on the wall will give it a sense that it has been their awhile.
  8. PM sent. thanks for the hard work
  9. Arlindus of Circardia and my Phoenix Guard pledge loyalty to the Avalonia Guild.
  10. My leige, Arlindus of Circardia, pledge my company, the Phoenix Guard to Avalonia Guild. Arlindus is the son of Orthus, a great woodsman who fled his homeland decades ago after trouble with the law. Orthus, and a group of companions, settled near the south coast of the Enchanted Forest. The group quickly banded together for protection against outlaw bands and ill creatures of the Forest. Overtime the group grew, began families and other wayward souls settled in the area. Circardia became the center of trade between many of the Elven clans and Humans in the southern Enchanted Forest and a safe haven for travelers. Orthus began the Phoenix Guard for those that wanted a new start. When one joins the Phoenix Guard, their past is forgot and they assume a new name. Many of the sons and daughters of the initial settlers are now members of the Guard as well. After finishing the inital training, and individual wishing to graduate the Phoenix Guard must survive 30 days in the wilds of the Enchanted Forest with only the clothes on their back and a dagger. Once complete, loyalty to the Guard and Circadia is unwavering. The Phoenix Guard learned many skills from the Elven clans over the years and is known for its woodlore, tracking, as well as archery and swordsmanship. Arlindus' father retired and passed command of Circardia and the Phoenix Guard to his son years ago. Orthus now acts as a ambassador between Circardia and elven clans as Arlindus protects the lands around Circardia. Photos for Arlindus and the Phoenix Guard will be posted soon.
  11. I'm sure I missed someone mentioning it before, but the Basket with the Little Red Riding Hood will be useful enough to get multiple so her. Also I wonder if the viking woman is designed as more of an opera singer than a true warrior?
  12. This might be a bit self serving but I wanted to keep all Derfel's lessons in one central spot. with that and some time on my hands I created the Derfel Cardarn Appreciation Society. It just mirrors Derfel's posts http://dcasociety.blogspot.com/ I plan on putting up a new Chapter with each of his post.
  13. Found them in a Walmart here in Charleston, SC. They weren't on the Lego aisle but on an end cap one or two aisles over. Finish my collection today and got a couple extra gladiators and royal guards for good measure. Also in the Toy's R US as well but they only had one box and it was nearly empty
  14. Thanks spacy! I like the version B just fine! going to try and get building this one soon and put it on a "base" for the wife. thanks again
  15. thanks Spacy. If you can't get around to it, I understand. I started collecting pieces (the obvious ones) this weekend so hopefully I can recreated pretty close to yours I may just pester you for some additional photos though!!
  16. thanks for the link Meyerc13. The colors of this ambulance are nearly perfect though and I know I could switch the color pattern on the one in the link, I really like the look of this one.
  17. Great Ambulance. Any chance for instruction on this build? My wife recently was named top EMT for the large and busy county we live in for the year and I was wanting to build her one as a "trophy" of sorts. Yours looks almost exactly like one of her trucks.
  18. The ones I got definately have octagonal hilts.
  19. not much to the stand. the stand is a sticker but it is pre-applied. I learned to go toward the end of the event, you usually can score an couple extras if your nice. I had my son with me today so that helped I'm sure.
  20. The one in my area had it today. the lady gave me a few extra sets at the end of the event. they also had samples of the spinners but none of us could figure out how it worked. the base seemed awfully heavy, are they supposed to spin free hand or is there some sort of mechanics to it?
  21. dont forget the polar bears and manta rays
  22. FYI amazon.com has alot of their Lego books on sale. the LSW is on for $12.86 http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss?url=sear...d-keywords=lego
  23. I ordered mine Friday Night Shipped from from Mephis ,TN to SC) got it this afternoon. I still have the blue building to complete but my two youngest kids (8 and 6) havent stopped talking about how cool this set is. I think their comments speak volume to how cool this set is and in some ways has more "playablity" than dozens of other sets aimmed at there age group. Off to finish my build!
  24. Long time lego fan (39 years) , Long time lurker. Luck to still have all my (and my brothers sets!) from our childhood. mainly space and castle. never really hit a true dark ages but kind a couple grey ages. favorite line is Castle and Classic Star Wars, Also like Pirates wife got me the Green Grocer for Christmas this year Looking forward to getting the Medevil Market set and enjoy WWII and Castle MOCs anyone in the South Carolina Area, let me know.
