  1. Here is my Armorer for Albion capital build I also finished up a small scene with Roltic the Huntsman as he stalks a stag for Lord Arlindus of Circardia upcoming feast. More photos and back stories in the threads for Hemrick the Armor and Roltic the Huntsman Can't wait for the next build!
  2. Roltic is known in Circardia as the finest huntsman. He has made a living out of leading hunts and selling his meat to the inn and families in Circardia. His knowledge of wild game and ability to stalk them has lead many to think he can communicate with the animals himself! Here Roltic has stalked a stag in the forest of Circardia that he will present to Lord Arlindus for his upcoming feast. Roltic lines up his shot The prize stag Detail of the deer. (I am pretty happy the way this came out for a brickbuild creature, my first attempt at one!)
  3. A maker of fine armor is a craft that is much sought after throughout the land. An armorer can make a good living creating custom pieces of armor for lords and their troops. Hemrick is known throughout Avalion for his superior armor and his skill in the craft has made him a somewhat wealthy man. The ground floor of his house is a showroom for his fine wares. Above it, he makes his home with wife Arnettia. His workshop is behind the building where he shapes sheets of metal in to helmets and suits of armor. A customer prepares to enter Hemrick's shop Hemrick the Armorer prepares to shape a sheet of metal into a helmet. His workshop attached to the back of his shop. Hemrick prefers an open workshop as the heat in an enclosed one would become intense. His finest pieces are on display in his window. Thanks for looking C&C always welcomed!
  4. Matn, I really like your tower and look forward to seeing what else you build! As to your land, I believe that is the exact area rougeang has claimed for his elves of the Rustling Leaves Clan. The patch of land due south of this is open i believe. If you choose this spot, I, Lord Arlindus of Circardia and the Phoenix Guard, would welcome you as a neighbor and trading partner.
  5. thanks so much! I hope you dont mind if I borrow this idea for future builds!
  6. Hope I can get some feedback, ideas and their thought process from some of the builders out there on how they go about designing an MOC with an interior. firstly I love interiors of builds. But have found them tough to do on smaller builds without messing up my idea for the exterior of a building. I've had some issues regarding this with my Albion Armorer build. I've only starting MOCing recently but typically I will jot down details and ideas I would like to add to my build (for example with the my Durah the Beekeeper build, I knew I wanted the Beehives (called skeps) and a small shed for mead storage). I take these ideas and work on them first I hadn't done an interior yet but wanted to do to for my armorer. Pics are coming soon but it is a two story build with a shed overhang off the back. Problem is my ideas for the interior don't work with my ideas for the exterior! One issues was lack of parts and another was photographing it. In the process neither turned out the way I wanted and Im thinking of scrapping the idea of the interior. I know about standard lego solutions (no backs on buildings, hinged walls, removable roofs) and really liked Siren-of-titan Drake's head Inn There are some fabulous interiors that looked like they were built as vignettes (I'm not sure if they are done that way or not. If not, it makes his whole build even more awesome) I like the thought of doing interiors as vignettes though. anyone have any ideas?
  7. Nicely done once again! Love the balcony and the use of 1x1 round plates next to the windows on the ground floor. I wonder what it would have looked like with the 1x1 going all the way to the ground vs a row of bricks? once again your builds are a source of inspiration for all of Avalonians.
  8. I'm pretty sure it is open. Just post your Sig Fig and army in the specific guild thread and start building. Each guild is doing mini challenges dnd their are challenges between the guilds. The first round of guild challenges (the watchtower) just ended so the second challenge should be starting soon.
  9. finishing up the last details on my Armorer so look for it in a couple days. On a side note, if someone is still looking for inspiration on a build, here is a good list of jobs in a medieval city
  10. While Im sad it likely means the end of the Castle subtheme (for now) One of my first sets was the Yellow Castle. I cant help be excited for this line. It will be interesting to see what they come up with for sets (I'm sure there is rampant speculation already!) but over the last couple years I have bought castle sets but mostly for the parts anyhow and have enjoyed creating MOC more lately. I'm sure I've have spent more on parts from bricklink lately than on sets themselves! Not a big fan of the flesh but I imagine the other creatures (goblins, orcs, trolls, Balrog) will mix in easily enough.
  11. I mean the side "panel" that runs from the top of the roof to the bottom of the roof along the side. (they might not be called Eaves but Gables, im not sure.)
  12. nicely done. the roof is nice as is the door. Cleaver use of the mini catapult piece as well. Looking forward to seeing more projects from you!
  13. Very nice! love the whole thing. Did you do the vingettes separately? I'm currently building a project now and was thinking of doing it that way for easy of photography. mikey
  14. great scene. I particularly like the use of the half arches on the side of the house. And an interior always notches up a MOC as well
  15. nicely done! And nice use of the barrels and the PofP sword holders. I also like the eves of your houses, any chance for detail shot or even a break down of how they are made?
  16. Excellent tower. i like the stag head in the mosaic on the floor. Also the use of the skate board ramps as the roofing. Lord Arlindus of Circardia welcomes a powerful neighbor such as yours and looks forward to trade and a long and fruitful relationship between our two lands.,
  17. Fabulous! One day I hope to build something like this. I could help but notice the hinge bricks, is their and interior as well?!?
  18. Looking good Andonii. this is what I think is typical Avalonian style. Derfel's guide is a great resource as is Maydayartist thread on his village project. the stable roof would look good with the black slope similar to the Inn as well IMO. The landscaping could use some paths. Now get the bricks to make the thing! One warning though, when you order those 1x1 round plates on bricklink, order twice of what you think you will need. From my rough calculations you would need more than 1200 just for the base of the Inn!
  19. thanks guys, ideally I would have used bricks instead of the angle corner pieces but I really wanted some height to the tower (to see over the canopy of trees that surround most of Circardia) I also need some dark green flags so until then the sand green will have to do. I have a lot of idea for Circardia and have even created a little map of the village. my list is definitely longer than my parts available! I found this website that has some good ideas for medieval jobs if they need some inspiration
  20. I posted this WIP a couple weeks ago in the Avalonia thread. I made a few changes based on suggestions and was waiting on a Bricklink order for a few other mods but sadly it hasnt shipped yet but I am pretty happy with it over all. Here is the back story of Circardia and the Phoenix Guard. Sorry about the length of the post and being pic heavy but I hope you have a look and tell me what you think. Long ago Lord Arlindus father, Orthus, fled his homeland decades ago after trouble with the law. Orthus, a great woodsman and skill warrior, and his group of companions, settled in eastern part of the Enchanted Forest. The group quickly banded together for protection against outlaw bands and ill creatures of the Forest. Overtime the group grew, began families and other wayward souls settled in the area. Before long, a village of sprang up along the banks of the mighty Isca River. Circardia became the center of trade between many of the Elven clans, Humans and other races in the eastern part of the Enchanted Forest, as well as a safe haven for travelers and starting point for many looking for adventures in the ancient Forest. Orthus believed in a fresh start for those looking for one. With this in mind, the Phoenix Guard was born. When one joins the Phoenix Guard, their past is forgot and they assume a new name. Many of the sons and daughters of the initial settlers are now members of the Guard as well. After finishing the initial training, and individual wishing to graduate the Phoenix Guard must survive an arduous initiation and loyalty test including surviving 30 days in the wilds of the Enchanted Forest with only the clothes on their back and a dagger. Once complete, loyalty to the Guard and Circardia is unwavering. The Phoenix Guard learned many skills from the Elven clans over the years and is known for its wood-lore, tracking, as well as archery and swordsmanship. Arlindus' father retired and passed command of Circardia and the Phoenix Guard to his son years ago. Orthus now acts as a ambassador between Circardia and elven clans as Arlindus protects the lands around Circardia. Here, Lord Arlindus, the current Captain for Circardia and the Phoenix Guard passes the Tower of Circardia. The Tower of Circardia is in the center of the town an overseas the area to ensure the safety of its inhabitants. It sits at the end of the great trade route to the west and the rest of Avalonia and along the north/south road that connects that lead to other parts of the Enchanted Forest. A member of the Phoenix Guard dressed in full uniform watches the door to the tower. Phoenix Guardsmen can survey the village of Circardia from high in the tower. Now on to my Albion capital build! (The Armorer!)
  21. great work as usual de Gothia. As I am your neighbor (I have the armorer across the street from you), Ill have to work extra hard. I like the odd grey put into the roof and of course details really make a MOC IMO. back to work on my Albion building! MikeyB
  22. Fabulous MOC! I really like the feel of the Temple. the roof lines are awesome. I would love to see what kind of mosaic tile you could come up with inside the temple for the flooring. It would have a stunning effect in your overhead shot.
  23. Here is a link to Mayday's guide Here is Derfel Cardarn's guide which is also a wealth of resources. I also tweaked a few things as I received a BL order that allowed me to make some structural changes to the house (brown brackets for the roof, planked the corners of the house, straighted the chimney and added a couple small details. Duram the Beekeeper Groslin, loads barrels of mead into the wagon Duram greets the Phoenix Guard
  24. thanks for the feed back everyone. The smokehouse idea came from sometime I spent in Alaska and the salmon spawns there. I wanted one of the new bears to put on the platform above the falls but they are going for $15 on BL. I'm hoping it will appear in another set soon or the prices on BL will come down. I too would have preferred brown hoses over the black (I also like the grey or white for "birch" trees) are pricey too and I had black. After feedback on my tower (still a WIP but should finish this weekend) I changed my trees to the some Derfel style ones. I find you can bend them a bit for some nice angles and I also "beefed" one up by adding 1x1 rounds (that one is on my tower MOC) For the smoker, the sides were initially designed as tables for another upcoming project but then when I started building the smoker, I thought I'd try them as a side. The roof of the smoke isn't truly attached. I did add a couple 1x1 round plates underneath it to keep it from sliding around. But I wanted to be able to pull the rack from the smoker for a photo (which I didn't do!) I also was trying to create some "smoke" coming out it but was unhappy with the results. I Also the I drew inspiration for the falls from Seircon and Coral's excellent MOC Faerie flower festival thanks again!
  25. The residents of Circardia are busy this time of year at the fishing camp. More photos and backstory in the MOC: Fishing Camp thread
