  1. Thanks! But I cant take credit for the baby idea, I know i have seen it somewhere before I just cant remember where or by who! Mikey
  2. thanks those birds have made appearances in a couple builds now. Its been my experience that if there are fish by the seashore, there are seagulls!
  3. your correct! edited the post! @de Gothia, isn't there a lake or river somewhere in Benoic? @Eccles I went through a couple crane designs but thought this one worked well. And glad you noticed some of the details, sometimes I wonder if anyone notices the small details, especially if I don't highlight them.
  4. My lastest build is now up The Docks of Cartoth
  5. Along the Southern edge of Lord Arlindus' lands of Circardia lays the Bay of Orthus. Named after his father to commemorate his landing in the Enchanted Island years ago, the Bay's shoreline is largely high cliffs and only navigable by the best sailors. One area is more hospitable than the rest, the cliffs aren't as high and the shoreline is offered some protection. In this area is the fishing village of Cartoth. Most families have their own dock that they maintain. The Tritus family is well known for their fish but also as a trader in other goods as well. Horace Tritus runs the dock with his two sons, Grayvin and Jaucco do the majority of the fishing and dockwork. They run a small dock where local villagers come to purchase fresh fish from the docks. A crane brings the goods from the dock to the top of the cliffs. Gravin is known a fine sailor and knows how to navigate even the toughest waters in the Bay of Orthus Horace haggles with a village woman over the price of a fresh fish Jaucco the youngest of the Tritus sons More photos can be found at this link As usual, Comments and Critics are welcomed! Also I was going to enter this in the Commerce Challenge as well but before I do, I didn't know if we enter something in the smaller challenges if it would be scored as a free build for our guild as well. Can someone clarify that? If i can get guild points and enter the challenge that would be great.
  6. I googled "elementals" to get some ideas, then try to transfer that to bricks. as to microbuilding I would do the same. I think their might be a guide somewhere here on Eurobricks.
  7. Welcome MCNwakeboard! I'm like the look of the buildings you have as your background! As Z said. tons of info on the front page and looking forward to your builds!
  8. Was a rather lazy, grey day here, the wife was at work, and the kids were with friends all day. Prefect day to put a few bricks together. Finished up a fishing village scene sadly my wife left the camera in her car and won't be back until after dark! So until I get the photos taken here is just a bit of background on the village of Cartoth. Along the Southern edge of Lord Arlindus' lands of Circardia lays the Bay of Orthus. Named after his father to commemorate his landing in the Enchanted Island years ago, the Bay's shoreline is largely high cliffs and only navigable by the best sailors. One area is less hospitable than the rest, the cliffs aren't as high and the shoreline is offered some protection. In this area is the fishing village of Cartoth. Stay tuned for photos and more of the backstory.
  9. what a tease! What could it be? an old set? parts? an army of Minifigs? On a side note, thanks to all who are responsible for get the great prizes!
  10. Another mind blowing build! lots of nice details and that tower is fantastic. I can only hope to get an invite to the wedding (and hope that it is an open bar!)
  11. you know its funny because, I know I have a huge mix of old and new grey but where I build its hard to tell the difference with the light I have in that room. when I was photographing and editing the photos I noticed and convinced myself it didn't look bad. As to the owl, they have their uses! They can see a lot further than a human eye and can alert the guards to approaching travelers! @jason, I have a few other builds I have planned (wish I could present them all at one time) I just started a build for a small fishing village that is in the Southern part of Circardia, along the coast of the Bay of Orthus (I need to work on a map of Circardia!)
  12. Some nice details here, i like the detail of the "tower" or Minaret on top of the gate itself. The roof about the spice dealer is nice and I like the tack on the horse, great use of the sword scabbard!
  13. great build Rogue, Great background and characters! I like the color and shape of the hall and I really like the library and the details you added to your interior (I really need to work on improving my interiors) Avalonia seems to be on a bit of building spree lately, I might have one more free build before I do my Challenge four build!
  14. that looks very impressive Capt! If that is a work in process, I can't wait to see when you have it finished and more photos
  15. @Z thanks for the kind comments. i basically took you six wide standard on your hex towers and added my own little detail. Ill have to post some photos of how I did my firing slits cause I think I did them totally differently! And I might hit you up for some Dark Tan tiles. I have a few dollars burning a hole in my pocket right now and I do like them! @ Capt BB That would have been great! I can just see a couple kids in a boat that got out of control. ISC. thanks for the feed back. I would love to have build a bit higher but was thinking the wide, swift moving river would add a natural defense to the gatehouse and the Hamlet. of course most were thinking about human attackers and not being attacked by elementals!
  16. the printing press looks great! good job
  17. Thanks for the kind words everyone. I don't know if other peoples minds work this way but I think of small scenes all the time (the washer woman, hearding the pigs and Phoenix Guardmen on a break) and then think of builds that I can incorporate them into. I nearly didn't have enough tiles for the bridge and was thinking "I should have picked up more 2x2 dark tan tiles on my last trip to the PaB wall" I am making a trip back to Florida at the end of July so hopefully they will have some left a month from now! @Capt, BB I like the way the wash board came out too. so simple but effective when put into the scene. As to the row boat, the might River Isca is pretty vicious. I was hoping to convey a river with a strong current. Guess I need to work on that! @natesroom I actually modeled it on Z walls of his gatehouse (or the best I could figure out from his photos) i also recreated his cross windows (which I was pretty proud of how they came out)I had the tower build for a couple weeks. I was going to build a scene with the Phoenix Guard marching to the border of Nocturnus against the Drow but when Rex recalled the armies, I had to think of something else. Then I got some LotR stuff for Fathers Day, Including Helm's Deep and your right, the build methods are similar.
  18. Interiors are something I need to improve on but here are some idea I did for my Captain's Hall a couple months ago. Includes a couple dressers, book shelf desk and a stand for a barrel http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=65617/
  19. great build. Nice use of details with the chickens, pots and bucket. My only issue is their isn't enough photos!
  20. I think he just want a small area up by the sea along the border so it shouldn't be a problem. @rougeang Great build!
  21. some how we came unpinned again! here is my latest Free Build, the gatehouse to the Hamlet of Circardia and the bridge over the River Isca. More photos and story here http://mikey.smugmug.com/Other/Lego-MOC/i-rQS5VPV/0/M/gatehouse14-M.jpg
  22. Watchmen's Log: Daily entry by Ra'an, Phoenix Guardsmen Despite the reports of the attacks by Victor Revolword's minions throughout Historica, we have seen peace here in Circardia. We have seen the first of the reinforcement sent by Artorious Rex cross the River Isca to help protect the lands. I'm sure Darno at the Stag's Head Inn will be happy with the additional business The local farmers have been busy bring in their goods to stock the warehouses in case war comes to Circardia. Young Cian brings hogs into town to the butcher And Sanil and his oldest son, Crayvon bring a load of apples. Inside the walls, Elina washes clothes while watching her baby as Karassis stops to speak with her. The men of the Phoenix Guard are prepared for what may come and take advantage of glass of mead from old man Durham. Roltic and Greffen, a friend of Orthus, prepare to head out to on a hunt hopefully to add some fine Circardia deer to the stores. No other events of note took place. More photos: couple notes: I am not entirely happy with the base to the gatehouse but sadly I didn't have enough bricks of the same color to get the height I wanted. Also this thing was tough to photograph with the back drop. I had designed it to break down into three section so I did some of the photos that way so you could see the details. For more photos, click here As always comments and critics welcomed
  23. to be fair most of it is a bridge (two 32 stud baseplates) and some landscaping. The Gatehouse itself is probably 40 studs by 20-25 studs
  24. very nice! I really like the wooden tower and the detail on you walls and towers are fabulous. You landscaping is very good as usual and really makes me want to try a Mitgardian scene in the future.
