  1. I haven't check my local Wal-marts but they don't seem to have much rhymm or reason when putting lego sets on clearance. one I stopped by had several POTC sets on clearance while another one they were still the regular price. Another had a deep cut on some Alien Conquest sets and another had them on clearence but they were only a few cents lower than their normal price ($19.97 vs. $19.99) I wouldn't worry too much about it being an indicator for the way Lord of the Ring are selling, more just individual Wal-mart stores mess up or set their own clearance prices. That said, Im going to run down to mine tomorrow to see if they have the Mines of Moria set (the only one I am still missing)
  2. Great job Z! looks great the fig selection and the details are great as is the PF touches! Off to build some more....
  3. LOL that is great!
  4. this is going to come down to the wire for me. I have a feeling I am going to have to cut some corners to get it in on time as I found out I am going to be gone Friday and Saturday. fingers crossed the weather cooperates here and I have a good day for photos Sunday!
  5. Great entry here! love the use of the boat as book shelf! might have to use that myself in the future!
  6. this is simply incredible. from the waterfall to the use of the longship hull pieces as the eves to the details is fabulous. Great build and sooo glad your an Avalonian! Mikey
  7. another fine addition to the line. I still need to pick up the Post Office though so this one might have to wait later next year. there are just too many bigger sets that I want, Haunted House, Sopworth Camel, VW Bus, New Hobbit and LotR lines. Not to mention the CMF coming out every couple months....
  8. hello all, just returned from a family vacation in Florida. We took spent two days in Legoland one was primarily spent at the water park but we did hit up a couple rides that the kids wanted to ride a second (or in the the case of one of the coasters, four or five times)We did hit Downtown Disney, Lego Store as well mainly for the Pic a Brick wall. I picked up some Dark red 1x2 and some more 1x4 reddish brown tiles from their along with some other pieces. I hit the Pic a brick in the park but as the prices where by the 1/4 pound, i only got a few pieces that I haven't seen on the PaB wall in Orlando like some of the reddish brown arched windows with the gold grate. The main thing I saw there that kind of surprised me was they had the Dragon Knight Battle packs for $14.99 at the store near the Dragon coaster. As my Dragon army is now near 50 I didn't buy any more but after seeing the prices on Ebay and Bricklink I guess I should have bought a few sets! Also got some good ideas from the miniland buildings. Having been to the Legoland parks in Denmark, England and California, I was really impressed with the New York City display, The size of the skyline was incredible! anyhow now to finish my Challenge IV build looks like I'm going to pushing the deadline once again!
  9. Fantastic building and some great techniques here i may have to borrow at some point!
  10. am I the only one that can't see the photos? the video comes up fine but no photos and the link doesn't work for me
  11. I would love to get ahold of some of those Dk Red 1x2s heading to florida next week so fingers crossed!
  12. $4.99 at my local TRU (Charleston SC) They also had about 50 of them.
  13. I was there about a month ago and will be in Florida again next week as well. The brickbuildr list was pretty close to when I was there. I remember dark tan 2x2 tiles, I believe they also had 2x2 red tiles. There is a member that lives in the area so maybe he will be able to help you more. I think he said their was some 1x2 palisades in grey and brown. As to sets I didn't see anything out of the ordinary while i was their. I picked up a couple polybags like the dragon and a couple Easter theme ones that were on sale. As to promotional items, they had the mini Sopworth when you spent $75 dollars.
  14. thanks for replying. I saw the photo with the modular section after I put up my comments and I wished I lived closer (Charleston, South Carolina on the Southern East coast of the USA) so it a bit of a trip but If I was anywhere close I would likely be the one with my mouth open, staring endlessly at all the details.
  15. this is fantastic you should be very proud. I combines my favorite MOCs, Castle, trains and WWII Military. Looking at the pics and there is soooo much to see in it. I know you said it took two years but could you give us some more details? is it modular? number of bricks (approx.) what is the base, size? Hell I would interview you for an hour if I could! Front page coming soon I am sure!
  16. I am affraid to look at what I have spent on BL since the GoH project started. I now have bunch of 1x1 rounds, 1x reddish brown tiles and a bunch of 1x1 bricks with 1 stud on the side! that said, I still find I have to take apart most my MOC to use the pieces for the next design
  17. You and your brother did a great job. this is a great example that a great MOC isn't about the size or the amount of bricks. The size is perfect! Great Job!
  18. congrats on the new camera BB! Looking forward to see some of that teaser as well!
  19. As Dustin said, those are just suggestions. I make up names that I like most the time some times I use google's translator to come up with names, using Welsh, Hungarian or other languages. sometimes even combining a word of one language with a second from another.
  20. My builds often go that way! right now its build a bit during the day, go to bed, decide I have a different idea while laying in bed. Next day, take apart what I built what I thought of the night before. then start the process all over again. Im sure I will still be tinkering with Challenge IV alt the way up until I take photos of it.
  21. your builds are always fantastic and this one is no different. Sorry to hear about your lack of access to your bricks. MOC like this are always a good day to start my day and are a great inspiration.
  22. I started with 4 dragon knights. I think I am up to 25 with the four panel torso, another half dozen with the mail a four of the knights with the great helm and one lonely knight with armor and the barding for the horse. I also have my Phoenix Guard which is up to 22. I bough most on Bricklick, buying whole minifigs, a dozen Dragon knight torsos. I make a smallish order each month ($20 or so) mostly tiles and specialty plates and plates but if the seller has a good torso or fig. I usually pick it up as well.
  23. Not sure if it is nationwide or just an error at my local Books-a-million (a US book store) but they had 9470 Shelob Attacks for sale for $12.99. I actually told the guy at the store that they are normally sold for $19.99 and he double checked and said that was the price in the computer. Might be worth checking your local BaM Mikey
  24. trust me your Lego supply with grow if you build here! I am afraid to look at how much I have spent on Bricklink and various sets in the last six months! Post your sigfig here and if you want to claim a small piece of land, head over to the Avaolina Map v3.0 thread. Looking forward to your builds!
  25. The website for New York Comic Con doesn't show Lego as one of the exhibitors. they were on the list for the one this past weekend.
