LEGO Collectable Minifgures Series 8 Rumours & Discussion
MikeyB replied to Piranha's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Not exactly Series 8 news but there are some photos surfacing of the "Hobbit" minifigs they are going to revel at Comic Con . It wouldn't be hard to imagine that Series 8 might be there too. -
Review: 9474 The Battle of Helm's Deep
MikeyB replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
Great review. I built this a couple weeks ago and was impressed with some of the techniques they used, seems a bit more advanced than your normal sets. And I too thought I got two bag "6" until I realized it was a bag "9"! -
I am very impressed! If the rest of the line is like this this is going to be great!

Some great character and love the tree in the first pic. the satyr with peg legs is a great idea as well.

You've done the hardest part so far! actually sitting down and building and then putting it out here for all us to see. I agree with the critics so far, the roof the paths and plates. A couple things that might help with limited bricks is to build smaller. Perhaps just use one baseplate, this will help fill up some of the dead space and fill the areas with details that you already have. Most of us want to build a big scene like a castle or a whole village but try building the details first, I think you did a great job on the fence and your scarecrow is another great detail and is a good start. But how about a well? or a small chicken coop? All and all good start and looking forward to seeing the changes you make.

Avalonia Guild: Homepage, Sign-up and Discussion
MikeyB replied to Derfel Cadarn's topic in Guilds of Historica
Welcome to Avalonia! Looking forward to seeing your character and builds! -
thanks for the info! I knew it wasn't really a good deal with smaller pieces but was hoping i could pick up some 2x4 and 2x6 and i might work out about the same as PaB cup. guess Ill break out the scales today to see what I can figure it out thanks again.

does the PaB wall in Legoland FL work like a normal store or do they charge by weight? I seem to remember reading somewhere it was weight. If it is by weight, does anyone know what the cost is? I will be there in a couple weeks and I want to get some larger basic bricks and was thinking it might be cheaper to buy them by weight than what I would could get in a large cup in the Downtown disney store. Thanks in advance

Nice! This will be a hard one to beat in the Commerce challenge. Lots of nice details The jewelers magnifying glass on the work bench is great and I was thinking of doing a butcher for my town of Circardia so some nice ideas I might have to borrow as well

Looks fabulous, especially the door frame and the detail throughout but cant help but think it needs a window or two on the ground floor. Cant wait to see the whole thing together! -
Jealous! the wife really wants this set and has asked me several times about it. here in the US I think October is usually Double VIP points (179 points would equal 356 points, a $15 savings) so I might wait until then to pick it up, especially if they do free shipping and have a promo poly bag as well.

Guilds of Historica Introduction/General Discussion Thread
MikeyB replied to I Scream Clone's topic in Guilds of Historica
As to which guild to join, I went with the one that I had the most bricks for. I considered Kalphilan but didn't seem to have the tan bricks. I also thought of Mitgardia but all my white was old and yellowing (who wants yellow snow!) In the end I went with Avalonia because I was lucky enough to get quite a bit of foilage at a Pick a Brick wall a year or so ago plus I really admirred our leaders builds As to something wrong or weird about GoH, the only thing wrong is the amount I have spent on Bricklink since November! -

I am pretty sure there is land along a river somewhere. here is a map without the borders I would think that somewhere west of #2 on the map (the anchor AKA as Harbor Town) would be good as I believe it is unclaimed. Except where tower #8 (which is Burrium but I'm not sure who's land it) -
Photographing MOCs: obtaining a white backround
MikeyB replied to Hive's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I use some cheap fabric and have duct taped it to a PVC pipe so it can be rolled up easily. I have also used a roll of paper you can find in education stores around the US it come in lot of different colors. -
nice haul! Looks like some nice GoH MOC are coming up! I live about 3 1/2 hours from my nearest PaB wall (Charlotte) but am going to florida and Legoland the end of July so wil check out the buy by pound deal at legoland hope they have some good stuff. will probably hit the Lego store in Downtown Disney as well!

Big medieval landscape: BIG UPDATE on page 26
MikeyB replied to maydayartist's topic in LEGO Historic Themes
I love how you have the castle under construction! thanks for the photos, I can't get enough of them! -
this is excellent and I love how you converted it over to winter scene. The interior and landscaping are great too. By the way this cabin would fit well into the the mountains or by a lake here in the US just as easily.

fabulous! scouring over the pics now. thanks for posting
