The Sheriff of Avalonia nailed a notice onto a post as a man and his son looked on. The soldiers stood by but hadn't been needed on the tour into the Circardian wilds. Most the new citizens paid them no real notice other than a curious glance. By decree of Artorious Rex, and as notice to all; the lands of west of the Isca River to the coast of the Inland Lake, South of the Lleyln River to the coast of the Enchanted Forest Island, from hence forth here-by known as Circardia and ruled by Lord Arlindus, Lord of Circardia and Captain of the Phoenix Guard. All new citizens of Circardia will receive all rights, privileges and protection as sovereign lands of Avalonia. In return, citizens will be expected to obey the laws of the land set forth by the Lord of Circardia. Any grievances can be addressed directly to Lord Arlindus in the Hamlet of Circardia. “What does it mean, Da?” “Not much son, new Lords come can go. But for us in the wilds, it affects us little. We have too little for most to concern themselves with us.” “We will continue to hunt and fish. We will plant our meager crops and tend to our small flocks.” “It will take someone special to change the way we have lived for years.” Hi res photos here http://mikey.smugmug.com/Other/Lego-MOC/20210181_Wcn3cX#!i=2125148630&k=Pb6JHVs As always critics and comments welcome!

Great build Gabe, Love the details and that barge is great. I also like the bird in the water. I have been working on building some small brick build animals, so far I have had a vulture, deer, crows and seagulls in some of my builds but I have a crane that i just finish that I like a lot. the Tower and wall look great too.

I don't think anyone would mind. I think a few our members have done similar things And @de Gothia, Personally I have busy I have been reading the forum but I just haven't had time to respond to everyone like I would like to. I might have one more MOC before I finish up my Challenge V. If I do what I hope to do, it likely will take most my bricks. -

Finished up my "Sheriff of Avalonia" build today. might be a couple days before I get the photos taken. Tried to go with something less than expected but I think it still fits in the spirit of the challenge. also keep puttering around with my Challenge 5 build and things are progressing. I have the main idea and one of the main builds finished. I don't want to finish too early though as I will constantly keep changing it! Mikey -
Great stuff as usual E. When I saw the first photo I was hoping there were some interior photos. I was Happy when I scrolled down! I like the barrels used as pillars and the roof on the ground floor especially. some nice details with the interior and the rock it sits on is fabulous! I do feel it needs a big fireplace on the ground floor to help ward off those fridged Mitgardian days! Also any chance we can get a shot of the bird, flying creature that is over the Hall? I tried bringing it up in the original size in your flick album but it is getting washed out against the white back ground. Great job once again!

Thanks Rouge. I found it tough restraining myself to the 20x20 limit! I really wanted to add a second building on the 'Market" side with a bridge over the water but you wouldn't have been able to much of it when I photographed it. I even tried a hinge system to open it up for photography but in the end I just build the one side. If the guild is chosen, I could see some ornamental walkway bridges over canals with various gondola type boats floating underneath them. -

well my builds have taken a backseat these last couple weeks. stuck my foot through the ceiling while getting something from the attic means I spent the better part of a day fixing that. I hate drywall and mudding. Then my wife's car died, so had to get it towed home, and have had my hands covered in grease the last couple days! When I rains it pours right? I did have a good start on Challenge V. I typically build a few small details first and like the way they are progressing. I also got the main feature of the build nearly complete I also have been working on the 'Sheriff of Avalonia" guild build. I should have that one done in a couple days. Looking forward to what everyone has up to. -

Thanks Rolli, Glad to be an inspiration. I likely will still build a few MOC along this story line on my own even if I dont win although it might have to wait a couple months. the Floating city is a was the center to the whole idea. As to the CMF being used as is, I typically agree with you and like to switch them up a bit. But I was so excited when I found them and thought the Actor and Conquistador would fit well into this Guild and as they were fresh out of the package I didn't want to modify them too much yet! These soldiers will be the elite guard. the rest army will have my old black morion. I did think about mermaids but I didn't want to get too much info in the introductory post! -
Still want to get me some of those horns! another great scene improved by photography and story.

got to love the new horses and CMF figures! Nice scene dG. Glad you are still working your along your story line. i feel it add a lot to your builds. Good mix of trees too.

Thanks for everyone's kind words. and I was going for Venice and Mediterranean coast vibe on the architecture. Another influence was the floating market in Thailand EDIT sorry about the photo size here is a link http://thailover.files.wordpress.com/2011/03/flickr-thailand-floating-market1.jpg I have quite a few ideas for this guild and buildings. I keep looking at the new star wars planets and thinking they would make good "marble" domes for roofs of some buildings. the Navy, Dwarven mines and traders, pirate hideouts, Orc tribes not to mention the merchant and commerce builds possibilities. -
Banana the red areas are those claimed by other guild members. the claiming a spot allows members to build their own villages and develop there own stories within the Avalonia lands

One way to approach this build is to spend some time building a couple small details (nice monoliths, a nice tent and scene with a blacksmith with a makeshift forge ) and then put them on to a landscape. this build is going to be about the details IMO. Remember not to leave it all flat. a hill in the middle with a path leading up with some steps would be fairly easy. I think you will realize you will run out of room fairly quickly on 32 x 32 -

I have to say I think this one would have been right up with my favorites for sure. Looks great and cant wait to see some more photos of it -
I think Z meant it does NOT need to be square.

As a retired Air Force Combat and Aerial Photographer, your builds bring a big smile to my face. I've logged hundreds of hours flying on 32 different US and NATO aircraft and your builds are truly spectacular! I love how you manage to keep the scale and details while using Lego. Thanks for sharing!

Great builds! For the roof I would go with Dark Green, just seems like it would fit in better with the colors there. And love the ship, I love ships and never have tried one before so I think I might have to give one a go soon! -

gimp is a lot like PS but there are some differences in what they call certain things. You can find it free online if you want to try it out but if your familar with Photoshop, it kind of like driving someone else's car. It will get you where you are going but your a little uncomfortable because the knobs and bits are in different places. -
Great stuff! glad you build some stuff for Avalonia now and you have some great builds. Looking forward to your next one

mine set up in similar to LD, I have a two yards of white material attached to a 5 foot PVC pipe that I unroll and hang behind my creation. I shoot outside in shade of my house in the afternoon so shadows are minimized. Just expose and most my stuff is pretty much raw out of the camera with a little cropping and a little quick sharpening filter maybe a quick adjustment in levels and its good to go! -

Edited my colors from dark red and gold to white and gold so they were more unique an unlike the other guilds. Edited my first post but here is a shot of soldiers of the Corisar, the Army of Varlyrio, with the new standard
