  1. Oh wow - just saw the price for the upcoming Sandcrawler. $599 NZD. Ouch. For comparison - Its $299USD (equivalent to $345NZD) and $449AUD (equivalent to $479NZD) Not cool Lego, not cool.
  2. Very cool - I See they have re-introduced the UCS name again too - but the set number is not a 100xx???. Agree in that it is leaps and bounds above the old SC, with some amazing details and touches. Some of the stickers seem a bit naff (like the detail on the wheel assembly, and at the rear), but overall, Im a big BIG fan. Why does Luke have a lightsaber though??
  3. Found all the current release Lego Movie sets in Tauranga TW today, was very tempted to pick up the ice cream truck, until I saw they also had the BTTF Delorean. Well, now they have one less. Great build and looks pretty cool, especially in BTTF2 mode. Getting the figs inside the car and sitting properly is a pain, but once in, they look really good.
  4. Just saw this on BL forums, 'So, this is just a rumor at this point, I have no way of verifying it, however someone very reliable from Denmark emailed me that there is going to be a re-release of the UCS Millennium Falcon either at the end of 2014 or early 2015' http://www.bricklink.com/message.asp?ID=796026 Wish it was true, but a rumour is just that until proven otherwise. My only glimmer of real hope is that this was posted by a BL'er with over 750 feedback, not some random troll. fingers crossed aye:)
  5. Hi all - after a bit of advice here.... 1) Back in November last year, i bought a lot of 5 Classic Town sets from a store on ebay. The store was advertised with 'I have some of the best sets in the world'. Sweet! good prices, cool sets - all good! 2) Received the sets, and the quality was pretty poor - badly scratched parts, chew marks, a few broken parts. Emailed the seller, and he agreed to a refund as I was not happy. All good, a seller with good morals etc 3) Posted the sets back (From New Zealand to Australia) mid November, and let the seller know they were on their way... 4) Almost 3 months later and no contact from the seller... I have emailed several times and no response.... 5) Looking at his ebay store today, he has now listed 2 sets with the same set number. I cannot prove if they are the same sets I sent back, but Im really questioning whether a small store could have multiple copies of a set produced in the mid 80's. I have not emailed him with my observations, as its possible he could have multiple copies, but things just are not sitting right with me.... Any advice or thoughts? Thanks!
  6. Rotten Tomatoes is currently rating it at 100% positive after 14 reviews. Looking good!
  7. Saw the new SW / City / Creator sets in TW Tauranga today - quite keen to get those DS troopers! Also had Lego Movie figs in.
  8. Yep - totally agree re - Simpsons house. There are already multiple copies up on BL - thats where I'm heading.....
  9. Not often one of these treasures comes up on TM - http://www.trademe.co.nz/toys-models/lego-building-toys/lego/sets/auction-685559606.htm I notice that its a photo off the internets though... but $650 is not a bad starting price.
  10. Looks like you need a few more posts to use the messaging system (total of 10 I think??)....
  11. Still have Darth Maul and the Blockade runner to go. Im trying to BL Darth Maul though using a few part substitutions.... And I on-sold the Falcon again when prices were getting ridiculous - used it to buy a few Classic Town sets! Call me daft, but I really REALLY love my 6399 Airport Shuttle. Still have a built falcon though. I also Bricklinked my 10030 Star Destroyer, but have made many alterations to it. Its about 90% finished, so expect to see some pics here on EB in the next few months. Im really quite proud of it too :)
  12. Oooh - thanks for the heads-up on the UCS X-wing. Was very lucky to get a US fan to send me a Bwing when they were $99USD a few months back:)
  13. Looking at BL, prices seem to be around the NZD100 mark for used sets. Most serious collectors will usually look here for an indication of value. Just a tip though - I sold a few sets around the New Year last year on TM, and the auctions really underperformed. I think you might be better off waiting a few weeks till people are back from holiday etc. Just my 2c though:)
  14. Picked up the Tower of Orthanc set at 20% off, was tempted to get the UCS X wing too, but had to get BBQ fixed up! Out of interest, how much was the UCS Xwing on Mighty Ape? I see what you mean about Kiwibricks. In all honesty, a great idea, but maybe a little too ambitious for such a small NZ community? With the interwebs being so wide reaching, and international sales being a daily reality, maybe its best to piggyback off the bigger sites, exactly like we have here. No offence or discredit to the creators of Kiwibricks - I always popped in weekly for a catchup. If it is going to be reborn, Id suggest having one forum for all discussion rather than multiple sub forums. Or even a group set up on FB?? Keep it really simple.
  15. Saw the 10236 Ewok Village in TW Tauranga today. Was not really considering the set originally, but seeing the box made me think twice. It was unpriced as the boss was not in but I will go back tomorrow to possible put it on layby. Still no sign of Orthanc though:(
  16. Hi there - I find that the cheapest postage costs to NZ are actually from European countries. For example, I just did a decent sized Bricklink order from a seller in Germany, and the postage came to 7 Euro. Ive paid more than that to send something up the road to Auckland. Have a look in the buy/sell/trade forum here for the thread 'New Zealand - where to find Lego', most of us Kiwis will put up a message if we see any decent deals around. But yeah - Bricklink. Theres a reason why its nick-named Cracklink. So dang addictive.
  17. I was drooling over that last night - hopefully the Darth Maul and Blockade Runner dont go too high - these 2 will complete my collection!
  18. Went into the new Toyworld in Tauranga today. Looked like they were still putting things out, but the store was nicely laid out, bright and easy to move around. Lego collection was pretty standard, but good to see a few of the bigger sets such as the Opera House, Red 5, and Mini Modulars, as well as the Architecture sets. They were having opening specials of 20% off all Lego. Its just great to have a TW back in town! For you other BoP folk, its in the old Post Shop / Paper Plus site at Fraser Cove.
  19. And judging by the fact that they are starting to pop up on TM, i'd say they have started to appear on shelves around the country.
  20. Have a look at this thread - especially the bottom of page 3 - http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=80053&st=50 Im really happy with these ISD engines - they look very cool. Im not worried that its not 100% original - many AFOLs have modded their ISDs anyway (Hangar for Tantive, more detail in greebles, third leg etc etc)
  21. Thats so cool! I was selling a UCS ATST a few years ago without box, and another member sent me their box at no cost so I would get more money for the sale - just blew me away how generous that was!
  22. Honestly - I probably would not be into Lego if the SW UCS line didnt exist. Those sets designated 16+ were the reason I came back to Lego after almost 2 decades.
  23. There was a nice condition 10179 Falcon on TM this arvo with box / manual / all parts etc, but the seller had a buy now of $1500. Needless to say it was up only a matter of hours before some lucky taker snapped it up! Listing 633202900 if you are feeling nosy. Cant help but think that set is worth considerably more than that!
  24. Ive never seen any of the CUUSOO sets in shops here - I got my minecraft direct from Lego. I was having a chat with the owner of TW Napier the other day (and he's very on to it) , and he didnt even know the set existed - which pretty much says that it hasn't appeared on any wholesale lists for retail. In saying that, I see Lego have removed this set from their NZ shop page - which may mean they are revising their pricing on it. I did think $53NZD was exceptionally good - perhaps they got it wrong??? However - the Free shipping being updated to $300NZD might be a permanent thing now - it says 'Free delivery all year round, Once your order reaches $300 free delivery will be applied automatically.' Thats a good thing considering all the sets I buy are usually over that anyway!
  25. Its currently not letting me add anything to my cart - saying 'There was an error while attempting to add item to order'. It also briefly flashes up with 'Free shipping for orders over $200'. Perhaps that why you only have an express option, as standard is free??
