  1. Hello there! As always, it’s been some time since I posted my previous ship. However, this time I have a good excuse. I really needed some time to build this new ship, since it is my largest ship to date, in fact-my largest standalone LEGO MOC ever. So now is finally the time to show her to you: THE ELIMINATOR, built for my redcoats. The ship uses the hull from the set 7075 with three middle sections. This really gives you a lot of space to fill with bricks! She measures approximately 115 cm in length and 83 cm in height. The ship has 24 guns placed on two decks-enough to make any enemy vessels reconsider engaging them in battle. Some shots of the upper decks. . . Now let’s take a look inside, shall we? The lower decks can be easily accessed by removing sections of the upper decks. Technically, the lowermost deck is located below the hatches in the gun deck. Here you can see one of them opened, with a ladder going down. Due to the construction of the hull piece mould, it should rather be considered storage space, as it is quite limited and actually hard to place a minifig down there. Also-GUNS! The white door leads to sleeping quarters for the crew. . . And here they are. Remember the hammocks? They are back! This is the sternward section of the lower gun deck with another hatch to the lowest deck/storage. The door on the other hand leads to another room. . . . . .and it's the brig with a captured bluecoat soldier! This white door leads to the balcony at the stern of the ship; you could see it in one of the previous pictures. Now, in the foracastle of the ship, above the crew quarters, we have the anchor mechanism. On the other hand, in the stern section of the ship, we have the galley. . . . . .and finally, the captain's cabin! So that's it. This was my third ship made using those big hull pieces, but as mentioned earlier, it's the biggest. It was a really long and exhausting build, but I guess it was worth the time and effort. If you have any questions, feel free to ask! And one more thing, I have just uploaded her to my Instagram account, so I'd appreciate any comments there too: https://www.instagram.com/p/CsTEQzjLyn1/?utm_source=ig_web_button_share_sheet
  2. The QAR was a pretty decent set. The only PotC ship which I actually bought. I skipped the Black Pearl which was a bit disappointing.
  3. Upon closer inspection, the Nightmare Shark Ship is a 2 in 1 set: The alt build has wheels: However, there is also a picture of the 'basic' version which is the starting point for making both alternative versions, and this is probably my favourite one (I would just add the sails from the 'main' build): You can also see that the hull has some rather large stickers.
  4. Agreed. I'm not a PotC fan myself. However, this is just an objective observation. It does have a bit of a similar feel to the Silent Mary set, which I was never interested in to be honest. But this one is a bit more appealing to me. I'll just wait and see if I want to get it or not. Still hoping the Eldorado Fortress remake will be the set we are all waiting for though.
  5. If you disregard the engine-like thingy, this actually looks like something which might appear in Pirates of the Caribbean.
  6. Well, now that the leaks are out, it turns out I was more or less right about 71469 Nightmare Shark Ship. And it's actually NIGHTmare, not KNIGHTmare. While it's not a typical Pirate ship, I might actually consider getting it.
  7. Good one! Those old commercials were great!
  8. Aaand red and white stripes again! Is LEGO obsessed with those sail colours? It may be a good thing though, might fit nicely as the smallest topmost sail on a ship, combined with some of the older sails.
  9. Not a huge number, but that's because the hull is really wide and only suitable for really big ships. The 4+ set uses only 1 middle section, but because of the width, 2 or 3 of them are more suitable due to proportion. And this makes the hull really huge, with a lot of bricks necessary to fill it. It's really hard to build thips like these every month.
  10. One, or two if you count the Harry Potter ship hull (same as the 4+ Pirates, just with different colours). So far...
  11. I remember those from Polish streets, both versions but the estate type was less common (although I personally knew a guy who owned one). Great job overall, it's instantly recognisable!
  12. The 4+ Pirates produced one of the best ship hulls available from LEGO!
  13. Actually you're right. The original Cerebro in the early comics was a rather small device, which means it can even appear in the set in one room after all.
  14. One rumour says that it actually was. If built to scale, the Cerebro all by itself would be a pretty huge set... That's why I understand limiting the mansion only to the living part of the building...
  15. Just saw the X-Mansion on Twitter. I don't get the criticism. Of course, it's not a modular building. So what? It's definitely not just the front wall, you can see some stuff inside. Kind of reminds me of the Hidden Side castle, only larger—a courtyard, front walls, some depth to the rooms, probably no back walls. And I really enjoyed that set. Then again, it may look very different as the final version. Anyway, I might actually consider getting this—my first Marvel set in quite some time.
  16. You may both be correct, of course. Heck, it may even be something like a living ship, literally a ship that is also a shark. With a mouth, teeth, etc. We'll just have to wait and see. But maybe, MAYBE it'll have enough of a true pirate ship in it to appeal to some of us. I never had any interest in the Punk Pirate Ship, or, while we're at it, in the slightly piratey Friends set 41375 with its 2D pirate ship. However, I did get the Flying Time Vessel from the abovementioned Time Cruisers series once, for its unique hull and some other usefull pieces. On the other hand, I skipped the weird MetalBeard's Sea Cow (I would consider buying it if it were smaller and more affordable). So, for me it's a bit hitty-missy with those not-quite-pirate-ships. That's why I'm not ruling out the possibility of getting this future ship. Time will tell...
  17. What about the rumoured Dreamzzz theme? https://www.brickfanatics.com/first-rumoured-list-lego-dreamzzz-2023-sets Apparently, it will be a theme where a bunch of characters jump between dreams, which may be twisted versions of more classic LEGO themes like Pirates, Castle, etc. Most importantly, the list does include this set: 71469 Knightmare Shark Ship with 1,389 pieces. While this does give off heavy Time Cruisers vibes, let's hope this time it will be done much better and we have a chance to get a decent-looking new pirate-ish ship.
  18. I totally forgot that the Loot Island used the same silly 'rotating cannon on a boat' configuration. Well, it was the weakest set of the 2009 wave. Personally, I always considered the Harbor Sentry as a parts pack of sorts. And on a side note, it's funny how the brown cannon bases are now the rare and expensive ones (both old and new brown actually!), while the red ones are much cheaper and easier to get. Back when the Pirates were a new theme, it was the other way around, as the red ones were only available in big and expensive sets, and the brown ones were in more affordable sets like this one!
  19. Mine is still assembled, although with some slight modifications. It IS a really nice medium-sized Pirate ship, big up to LEGO for that set!
  20. Well, I'd say mine is 95% about Pirates. https://www.instagram.com/dreamweb_mocs/
  21. Much like the Caribbean Flagship before, here's another old ship of mine which received an overhaul this year. I always liked the overall idea and colours of the Devil Lady, but I considered her a bit unfinished. So I decided to change it and upgrade the ship a little. First of all, I added more ratlines. Also, the bow has a new, more streamlined shape. The main deck is now made almost entirely of tiles instead of exposed studs. Some other smaller things were also changed, and I like her much more now. The first post has been updated accordingly with new images. I left one image of the original version of the ship for comparison. Go take a look! Thanks!
  22. Thanks! I really wish LEGO released the standard ship hull pieces in dark blue (to match the dark blue boats which some of the imperial soldiers were given). I did experiment with various sizes. Perhaps I'll still try that! Thanks!
  23. Thanks for the comment! It's much harder to do than a regular hull, partially because of the curvature.
