Ye all remember this is LEGO right? I'm sure this can be converted into a proper minifig-scaled ship with some effort. Just leave the hull and the masts and replace everything else above and below deck with minifig scale structures, and you can also remove the smokestack if it's not your thing. The brick-built hull does look pretty decent after all. Which also makes me wonder whether it's possible to easily remove the lower half of the hull to make it look submerged in water, which would be a pretty cool and easily achievable feature. Kinda like the detachable floors of modular buildings etc.

Well, I don't know. I'll probably get it, and it does look cool. I was expecting non-minifig scale so no surprise there. This is 100% a display model like the Titanic. About the sails... they're very simple which is both good and bad. On the plus side, they're very realistic and universal, and could work in almost any pirate MOC. BUT at the same time they look like something made by a random kid using paper and scissors.

This is excellent, I want to visit a fort like this.

No worries mate, I meant no disrespect. This is quite normal that several people would come up with a similar idea over the years. Actually, this happens quite often with LEGO. Perhaps I would try it if I had any of those big figs.

How come I've never posted here? While the SES is bigger, the BSB is the better ship of the two. The deck looks much better with the long grey plates forming the main deck extending over the entire length of the ship, something the SES and many other ships are sadly missing. Plus the details, lots of them! The BSB looks like a lot of effort was put into its overall appearance. The SES looks just like a ship made to serve its purpose of being dangerous, but not beautiful. The BSB still remains one of the most legendary LEGO sets ever. Just look at the sheer number of times it was remade in various forms, and yes, I even consider the Brickbeard's Bounty and the Brick Bounty to be soft remakes of that set. That having been said, I would really like to see an Icons-style remake of the SES one day for a change...

I saw the effects of the procedure long ago in this Lugnet thread, I wonder if you're familiar with this or did you just come up with a similar idea? Anyway, this is just too radical for me, as the procedure is destructive, as opposed to, e.g. the hull swapping which I once described. The fact that I don't own any of the ugly 4+ figures does not help either.

[OFFICIAL] LEGO Ideas® 21363 The Goonies - Released Nov 4
Dreamweb replied to Dreamweb's topic in LEGO Pirates
I'm going to rewatch it pretty soon. And by the way, knowing how deeply LEGO modified Ideas sets in the past, it would not surprise me at all if the final set was a complete ship, and all the action scenes, caves, etc. were moved to a separate build, or even several smaller separate structures. Which would actually be an upgrade in my eyes. -
[OFFICIAL] LEGO Ideas® 21363 The Goonies - Released Nov 4
Dreamweb replied to Dreamweb's topic in LEGO Pirates
No worries mate, all I meant to say is that I don't remember the film very much... Perhaps it's a good time to rewatch it. Yeah, I've seen it too. It looks like more of a playset than a proper ship. Then again the Barracuda Bay had the feature of conversion into a full ship, so there's always this possibility. As mentioned above, I didn't quite remember the ending. Anyway, the ship seems to be only half-built, the other half looks like this: And it's huuuge, I'm certain the final set will be shrunk considerably. -
[OFFICIAL] LEGO Ideas® 21363 The Goonies - Released Nov 4
Dreamweb replied to Dreamweb's topic in LEGO Pirates
Well, truth be told, I last saw it maybe 3 decades ago, so... I remember it was fun to watch, and I've read somewhere that the producers wanted to give the ship away for free once the production wrapped, but no one wanted it, so they just scrapped it. But I think it might make a good set, LEGO will definitely add more colours to it. -

I made a ship using this hull, but with a total of three middle sections: https://www.instagram.com/p/CsTEQzjLyn1/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA== All in all, I think it's a good hull, you can build some pretty large ships with those super wide hulls!
-
Let me reiterate this. Anything PIRATE related can qualify. Build a ship and say it's his old/new ship. Build an island and say it's his old/new hideout. Build an (18th century) lavatory and explain that it's his workplace. And so on...
-
I can't tell you how dissapointed I will be if half of the bricks are used for the surrounding ice, not for the ship itself! On the other hand, the Titanic was most famous for sinking, yet the LEGO model did not present a shipwreck. Here's hoping the same will apply to the Endurance (but make it minifig scale, please )

Pop culture got my vote, as I even have a MOC idea that could go with it. Too bad it got so few votes... While I did play a few of the Monkey Island games, I don't think it's popular enough for a worldwide contest. Steve is such a weird category, I guess you can build almost anything and say it's got something to do with him.

This AND the new Harry Potter ship? Looks like some expenses are ahead!

We have a picture of the new Harry Potter ship:

Thanks a lot! Thank you mateys! I hope LEGO will release those hulls in more colours to allow for additional colour combinations! Anyway, I'm preparing for another exhibition, in two weeks!

Thanks! Actually, the hull is a combination of pieces from the Mario set and the Friends boat. Anyway, my new ship has already completed her maiden voyage to her first LEGO exhibition. And what an adventure this was!

That's weird, it works on both my phone and my PC. Even when I'm not logged in to Instagram, the video plays just fine...

Absolutely! The truth is, I save most of my heads without eyepatches for soldier minifigs. Well, for anyone who is interested, I have just uploaded a short video to Instagram, showing how various sections of the ship are removable for easier access, AND how the ship's wheel turns the rudder, so check it out!

Have you heard that there's an upcoming Harry Potter set no. 76440 which is going to be a new version of the Durmstrang ship? I bet it's not going to use the 4+ hull, like the previous one: I'm expecting either standard hull pieces or a smaller, brick-built hull. Anyway, let's wait and see if it's worth the attention of us Pirate fans.
