Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
Dreamweb replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
I for one find these very appealing. Definitely going to get some of them. I mean, who wouldn't want to have a LEGO Donald Duck? I hope we will get the Rescue Rangers in series two. And Scrooge McDuck. Man, that would be awesome.- 4,155 replies

I forgot to mention that, apart from all the stuff listed above, with the Raid Zeppelin you also get 7 of those in black: Which is a pretty nice bonus considering they are frequently used by ship MOCers to make gunports, coupled with flags of course.

[MOC] [Steampunk] Sir Archibald's Flying Lucilla
Dreamweb replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Right, the Friends set, I remember it now. Anyway, keep up the good work, hope to see more Steampunk from you! EDIT: Oh, my 1701st post... In the sci-fi forum no less. To boldly go where no one has gone before...- 14 replies

My vote goes to Orient Expedition. It was the theme that got me back into buying new LEGO sets. The Imperor's Ship was the first brand new set that I had bought in a loooong time, and soon after that I bought some more sets like the Yeti Hideout and the Elephant Caravan. Of all the Adventurers subthemes, it still remains the one from which I have the highest number of sets, although I eventually bought a few used sets from the other subthemes later on.

[MOC] [Steampunk] Sir Archibald's Flying Lucilla
Dreamweb replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Now that you've explained it, yeah, I see the different balloon piece. Funny, until recently I didn't even know they existed in other colours. Guess I must check out stuff other than Pirates more often. Which set is the magenta one from? Yeah, like you said, steampunk is about pretending that the impossible is possible anyway, so I have no problems with the odd proportions.- 14 replies

[MOC] [Steampunk] Sir Archibald's Flying Lucilla
Dreamweb replied to Captain Braunsfeld's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
Nicely done! I do like steampunk and this fits in quite nicely with the genre. The overall construction seems too heavy for a baloon this size, but steampunk is not about realism anyway so I don't mind. I was also a bit disappointed that the Ninjago set comes only with 7 baloon pieces. Did you get an extra one or does your baloon have a hole in it?- 14 replies

Going back to the Raid Zeppelin (70603), I built mine a few days ago and it's definitely a very useful set for us pirate fans. You get two anchors, a cannon, the ship's wheel, not one but two Asian pirate flags (one is a spare) - great for a potential Asian faction of pirates if you wish to make one. What is more, if you are a fan of the stud shooters/swivel guns or whatever you wish to call them, you get four - two in white and two in black. Actually, the black ones are a different type which has an added base, so it can't really work as a swivel gun, but one can add some small wheels to it and turn it into a small gun for a smaller pirate ship (this is the first time I've seen this kind of gun, I apologise if it's not new - I'm not really that much into Ninjago sets). And you get a broom, a bucket, a barrel with dynamite, not to mention the minifigs, with which you also get cool greeen epaulettes plus a dark brown peg leg with a dark green healthy leg. The torsos might be useful for some Asian pirates too. Highly recommended!

[MOC] The Devil Lady - new ship for the redcoats
Dreamweb replied to Dreamweb's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thanks! I've finally managed to find some spare time to finish my other projects, so you can expect more ships from me sooner rather than later, hopefully. -
That's an excellent vessel, although it feels a bit on the narrow side. Still, looks great, and so does the monster. The Imperial Flagship sails go well with it too. Overall, an outstanding creation!

Buying Pirate LEGO - where to buy, advice, tips and questions
Dreamweb replied to Mr. Smee's topic in LEGO Pirates
Doubtful. If anything, the second hand prices of mint QARs and BPs will go even higher. But, I'm sure LEGO will release a new ship or two that will fit nicely with the two earlier vessels. That is of course, if they release more PotC at all. But considering the circumstances, I'd be surprised if they didn't.- 502 replies

Buying Pirate LEGO - where to buy, advice, tips and questions
Dreamweb replied to Mr. Smee's topic in LEGO Pirates
Both the Queen Anne's Revenge and the Black Pearl are now ridiculously overpriced and it's not easy to find either one at a decent price. If you want a Pirate ship, I'd suggest getting the Brick Bounty. Or potentially wait for new Pirates of the Caribbean sets, there's a pretty good chance that they will happen when the new movie is out.- 502 replies

I'm sure a lot of AFOLs would jump at the chance if LEGO released a redcoats vs. bluecoats chess set. I know it's not happening, like, ever, but still, what an army builder that would be!
-
Yeah, I know, that the 2009 chess set was more expensive, because of the fancy box and so on. But it was also a better army builder, with more minifigs, hats for the soldiers etc. On the other hand, you're right about the tiles, which are a huge advantage of the 2015 set. All in all, like I said before, I'd rather save money for something else, unless I find it at a real bargain somewhere, then I might consider getting one.
-
All the more reason we need a decent sailing vessel this time. HMS Beagle would certainly qualify, while the Brick Bounty was a letdown to some of us (I'm not saying everyone). 100% agreed
-
Well, I can imagine an Ideas set using prefab hull rather than a brick-built hull which would make the piece count skyrocket and impossible to turn into an actual set.

[MOC] The Devil Lady - new ship for the redcoats
Dreamweb replied to Dreamweb's topic in Pirate MOCs
Thanks for the comment! I don't like it when there's an overkill of cannons. I like cannons, obviously. But given the scale of ships based on the prefab hulls, you must keep the proportion in mind. Besides, you gotta save some of those precious cannons for future ships too. -
A great MOC, instantly recognisable! Keep up the good work! I was never a huge fan of the Monkey Island series, but I did play some of the games for some time.
-
That's a fine vessel! I really have to start an account on this Ideas website sometime to be able to vote for projects like this. I would like to see it released, she's a real beauty. Although if I were to be picky, most other models of HMS Beagle I've seen online have a brown hull below that black part. Wonder why this wasn't used here. Anyway, glad it got over 10000 votes!
-
So it's not in reddish brown after all, just old brown? Well if that is the case, then it kind of sucks... Theoretically, this hull piece is not available in reddish brown. Why theoretically? Well, this preliminary picture shows that at one point the Viking ship was supposed to use the old version of the LEGO Pirates hull in what seems to be (light?) grey top and reddish brown bottom (after all, Vikings were released in the bley/reddish brown era). The final version has a completely different hull obviously, but who knows? Perhaps a reddish brown version of that hull made specifically for that prototype exists somewhere in the LEGO headquarters.

I just got leaked info that I will be getting the Zeppelin set as a gift. Definitely has a lot of useful pieces for pirates and that flag would work great for some Asian pirate faction!
-
This is a great review! Actually it comes just in the right time for me, as I was lately considering getting one of these. However... the set itself isn't that great. I've seen better chess sets, including 2009 Pirates...The selection of some of the chess pieces is really questionable, and the landscape on the soldiers' side is laughably bad. Also, I don't quite get the joke with the two pawns carrying food. Overall, I voted average, and I won't be getting it unless I somehow find it really cheap somewhere. By the way, the red 1x1s are for stacking the chessboard components ontop each other. See here and here (taken from this review). That's really weird if they didn't put it in the instructions... Anyway, thanks for the review!

Which LEGO Pirate captain is your favorite?
Dreamweb replied to Captain Roger's topic in LEGO Pirates
I voted for 1989 Redbeard, the true classic. But all of them are pretty good. And while we're at it, maybe we should add the zombie captain from collectible minifigures too? -
If you mean red over brown, then it's from set 6286 Skull's Eye Schooner.
-
Peeron could be wrong. Judging from the pictures the 4+ Pirates parrot and the Belville parrot look the same colour to me. I don't have the real thing so I can't really compare.
