  1. Breathtaking... I could never afford bulding something THAT big. I see a lot of work still awaits you - and a lot of fun with it. I can't wait to see the full model - what are you planning to use for the sails?
  2. What a beauty! Almost makes me wanna return to building big ships myself. Good job with the sails - they're very complex and realistic! And I envy you the abundance of cannons used to protect this magnificent vessel.
  3. I'm not an expert on Chinese junks, but I agree it would look better if you added some height in the middle. Am I correct to assume that digital designing doesn't allow you to create sails? That's too bad as he ship would look way better with them.
  4. Strange colours... In fact the quality of the pictures makes them even more strange - the ship looks almost pink to me. I'm not a big fan of those brick-built sails... they look way too blocky. However I llike the design of the upper deck and the sterncastle. I'd like to see some pictures of the ship's interior.
  5. http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=332877 - click here to view the 12th episode of the series, "The Beast Island". A special feature of this episode is a custom zebra - painted by myself. Also, it's another episode which proves that magic isn't impossible in the world of my heroes. Another six-episode cycle has come to an end, so it's time for another longer break. However I'm already working on new episodes, which will probably introduce: - a new plot lasting for several episodes - my version of islanders - yet another faction, not unfamiliar to Pirate Lego fans However nothing is certain and those plans may change without notice. And it might take some time for me to complete those episodes...
  6. From all the official figureheads, I think that the Caribbean Clipper's bird is the best - I remember how precious this particular brick was for me, as for many years I had only one yellow bird (today I have like 3 of them - so still not many). The BSB's figurehead is a very close second, I also like the Renegade Runner's dragon and I don't really like the others.
  7. This MOC has now its own page at MOCpages as well: http://mocpages.com/moc.php/66018
  8. I wouldn't call it a modified IF. It just has sails taken from that ship and that's all - I don't think you'd see the resemblence to that set had I used different sails, plain white customs for example. But the sails are often the first thing that you notice while looking at a ship so I pretty much understand your way of thinking The ship MOCs shown in my comic are numbered more or less in the same order they appeared in the story, the Valour being number 1 and the ship here being number 3. No custom bricks - the brick used in the middle is this one: with two of those connected on both sides: , an finally two of those on each side, and then of course 4 more of these used for the wheels: etc.
  9. Well, it's always good to have a brand new cutlass after all these years, and the bley doesn't bother me in this case. As for the Pirates - as I wrote in another thread, I have a strong feeling they're coming back. I'm sure we'll have them by 2010, maybe sooner.
  10. Where can I find some more information about this magnetic roof? I'm curious about it.
  11. So does the Emperor's Ship. Not to mention the Ninja theme. And the Asian faces from Orient Expedition and Indian faces from Wild West actually fit well for alternative Islander faces - they look more Native American that way. And speaking of Islanders from the Pirate line - their painted faces can be considered dark skin (well, they're yellow of course, but the whole point of yellow is that it's not race-specific).
  12. Thanks for all this feedback! Actually I was playing around with this hairpiece which I'm absolutely in love with, and at the same time I was taking a closer look at my new troll minifigs. I attached the hairpiece to troll's head and the idea for this vig just struck me like a lightning.
  13. That's quite a start! Good luck completing your mighty army... Sometimes when I look at all those armies on Brickshelf, belonging to different people, I wonder how many bluecoats and redcoats have been made by Lego in total?
  14. Actually the box pictures look the same, with just the logo changed. However the sets themselves are often slightly different from what we see on the box (= slightly different from Lego sets they copy). Colours of many bricks don't match those we see on the box or in the instructions, and minifigs often look completely different.
  15. It's Monday again, so it's time for the premiere of the next episode, New Leeds Part 2. That's the 11th episode of the story. Like before, there's gonna be a longer break every 6 episodes, and a trailer will appear after the 12th episode. Which is BTW completed, however as I'm going on holiday to France, I will not be able to upload it until Jul 28th. So be here in 3 weeks to see "Episode 12 - The Beast Island", which ends the second chapter of the story (may I remind you that the Beast Island has been the goal of our heroes ever since episode 4)...
  16. Yes, the ratilnes on the main mast is something I feel the lack of as well... However I had to spare them for other ships. Because, unlike some other MOCs, I NEVER disassemble my ships (well, there used to be some exceptions but it was long ago ). The ladder looks odd, but somehow it fits the overall sinister look of the ship IMO
  17. ...there's always time to reconsider More pics... PS. This vignette is in no way intended to offend anyone - I count on your sense of humour However it is in a way inspired by the fate of some people I know...
  18. 61-a This time I wanted to show you another ship built specifically for my comic series "Kings & Queens Of The Sea". It's the pirate vessel Albatross. Back view (the lifeboat removed): Don't be mistaken by the ship's name - the figurehead actually represents a dragon: The ship is equipped with cannons of my own design: See more pictures in the gallery HERE.
  19. Right. So if one of the minifigs were a fleshie, that would mean that these two are not from the same theme. But SirNadroj has clearly stated that despite of what it looks like on the picture, it is yellow, and we just have to believe him BTW great find SirNadroj - I forgot to congratulate you before Anyway, as I've stated in my previous post, for me it's not a question of "IF" anymore - it's a question of "WHEN"...
  20. Doesn't look yellow to me, SirNadroj's phone must be playing tricks on us Actually I wanted to say this even before this thread apperared, and I'll say it now: there is going to be a new pirate line. I'm sure of that. You can call it a hunch if you want, but there's just too much evidence. First, TLC knows that the pirates are a popular theme, they even call them "evergreen" (see here). Second, the 4+ and Duplo Pirates seen some time ago - that's not the same obvoiusly, but it's a sign that they haven't forgotten about Pirates in general. Third, the recent appearance of sailing ships in Castle line and previously Viking line. Fourth - the pirate pieces seen in some new sets. And now these! I can bet a barrel of rum that pirates are coming back - maybe not as soon as 2009, maybe we'll have to wait till 2010 but I'm sure we'll have new Pirates by then. Keep these words in mind me mateys!
  21. Thanks! The HMS Manchester has now its own MOCpages page as well - see it HERE!
  22. I was just curious if anyone except me noticed that... And no, it's not a big deal. On the other hand however I must say it's not a matter of vanity IMO. It's just good to know how many people are interested in a particular MOC. If I for example see that one MOC has much more viewers than the other, it makes me think why they find the first one more attractive - and it gives me hints for future MOCs. However I must also admit I've seen some great MOCs that didn't receive enough attention and vice versa.
  23. Sorry if this has been discussed somewhere before, but a few days ago I noticed that the "Views" counter on Brickshelf stopped working. Now MOCs have no number of views at all and old MOCs have as many views as they had before and the numbers don't increase. Has anyone else noticed that? I've seen it in my Brickshelf folder as well as other user's folders. Does anyone have any explanation?
  24. That's a magnificent vessel! I really love the colour scheme with the big amount of brown - makes it very realistic. The stern is also great. I'm not really convinced with those custom sails though - they look quite worn. But the overall look of the hull is really nice.
  25. Great MOC with a lot of details and so much action! The buldings are cool, although I'd probably build all walls for them, one of them being easily removable or hinged for full access. Just a matter of taste though. And of course big thanks for using characters from my comic in such an excellent MOC, I'm truly honoured
