1h 2012 models
Cwetqo replied to JunkstyleGio's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
My 8070 got new cylinders too (8 of 8). It was bought several months ago, so this is not something very new. -
I hate....! Share your building annoyances here...

Seeing up to five instruction booklets for medium sized set, each one sized differently. -
I think that TLG keeps its secrets pretty well. 1H AND 2H 2013 sets will be known soon (in 2-3 months), but we will have to wait another year to see them. But enough of that, lets focus on sets which are coming next: I also like helicopter more than crawler (for which I was somehow dissapointed when I saw it). I hope it will have interesting gear transmissions, like lets say 8480 (it reminds me of this set, even if its not as big)

TLG wants to present each set properly, with hi-res pics, press release, price and technical details. Those prelim pics can make set look worse than it really is and take away "I want this" feeling. Plus, as you can see, those pics are preliminary and finished set and/or box could be different (batteries included sign could be example of this). Another thing is that TLG wants the set to be available soon after its presentation, so people could buy it. Presentig it now (or allowing prelim pics to remain on internet) would just lower the sales of existing sets (someone would say: I would rather not buy toww truck and save for rock crawler). Thats TLG-s point of view and I can understand it, but as an enthusiast I will be still looking for info and pics and as we can see those aventualy do get out, but at lest not to "general public". We "enthusiast" will anyway buy all those "flagships"

Maybe as a placeholder for XL motor, but I hope not. Regarding servo motor: something doesnt add up. Because if that motor is servo, we would also need new remote, with speed adjustment and return to center ability. On the picture we see normal remote, but when I heard first information about this set I was under the impresion that remote will be different, more like dirt crusher. Could be just prototype though. Too bad we dont have image enhancment technology like those guys in CSI. Price will be the same as for 8043, so I do not expect much more pieces than that (but its true that it has just one remote/reciever and one motor less). Helicopter is cheaper than 8109, but since it looks like it will not have any pf parts, piece count should be similar. I personally like it more than crawler.

Slovenia (EU): Sales tax: 20% (VAT) $1 US ~ 0,77 euro A McDonalds cheeseburger = 1euro = $1.30 An apple= 0,25 euro = $0.32 each Collectible Minifig = 1,99 euro = $2.60 10222 Winter Post Office = 60euro = $78 10218 Pet Shop = 150euro = $195 Lego prices are mostly the same as in Germany,Austria, Italy and most mainland eu countries. Average monthly pay is around 1000euro=$1300 after all taxes are paid (around 1600 euro/$2100 before tax), which comes to around 12.000euro/$15000 per year (after tax) and 19200euro/$25200 before tax.

I can confirm this, i just dont remember last set. Maybe it will be later release, like black pearl in PoTC. Prices are similar like PoTC, from 15 to 129 euro. I have not seen any pics, so i have no clue if they will be worth it.

One word: malevolence
-
In TRU Holiday Toys Catalogue was 80 euro and in Muller Holiday Toys Catalogue was 90eur and they had -20% on all toys for a week or two, so the price was 72 euro. Those were the first times this set apeared in those shops.
-
Those two are not in same price class, but I definetly think that 8265 is worth paying more. It's really nice, large and complex set, whilst 8069 is just (at least for me), bad copy of 8455. 8265 all the way!
-
I europe (at least Germany and Austria) it even started with reduced price of 75 euro (regular price is 100 eur).
-
The reason for this is that LTG is keeping this very tightly secured. I am pretty sure that at least some of people on this forum had seen official information about this, but do not dare to talk about it in fear of official TLG countermeasures. So, yeah, I guess that we will have to waint until Nurnberg (and even there I expect enhanced security and maybe no pics)

I think that this is most realistic look to this theme. For lego it's just another theme like Harry Potter, Indiana Jones, PoTC or some other stuff. That means medium sized first wave with nice figs and colours, a building or two, maybe vehicle and one flagshgip set (helms deep). If people will buy it then we will get another wave or two, maybe D2C set and MAYBE, after several years it will become like SW (i think that this is not possible though)

Set 8436 pneumatic truck.
Cwetqo replied to davidmull's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I see that you have 8455, 8868 and 8459, so you started correctly with best sets (8455 is THE pneumatic set, 8868 has compressor and 8459 air tank). If you are seeking primarly pneumatic sets then 8436 is indeed you best choice, but otherwise I would recommend two really nice sets: 8421 and 8285. Both have pneumatics (not as many as above sets, but enough), nice mchanical transmissions and 8421 even has 9v motor (which is optional in 8285). After that you can get 8436 and 8462 and that's it for pneumatics. (there is 8851 and 8862, but first is hard to get and not so interesting and second one is too similar to 8455, at least the back part). -
I can also heard something about it. It will be small release, much like World racers or agents 2,0 and if I remember correctly it will not be something to remember (as I also did not remember almost nothing from it ). It will not be greeks though (I would remember THAT). I guess that we will all have to wait until Nurnberg Toy Fair in February, when usually some pics leak out to public.

Get Grand Emporium. Its great set and way better than PS. Plus, it will be gone first.

Anyone remembers when we first saw PoTC sets? It should be similar with LoTR (PoTC was may 2011 and LoTR should be may 2012).
-
Well, 10179 has more technic parts than most technic models, so if that counts then its surely this set. Otherwise, between "real" tecnih sets I must choose 8880. Some newer models like 8258 or 8043 are more complex, but they have very good instructions and are not so difficult to build, but older sets have very dense instructions wit complex steps and are not so well made (and if you buiuld from scans visibility is really bad. So, three of my most difficult sets to build were: 8880 Supercar, 8480 Space Shuttle and 8868 Airtech Claw rig. (8480 might be more difficult to build, but I built 8880 at the begining of my return to lego and for me personally it was more difficult)

Technic PAB - No Sales: Yes, but more likely in other shops (Muller, Kaufhof etc...)
-
They got it in Austria and it's even discounted. TRU has it for 79,99 euro and Muller with extra discount on all toys for even less: 89,99-20%=72euro (just for comparison: regular price is 99 euro and QAR is 129 euro).

Euro-dollar difference is again huge. I can now see why SW is so popular in the states and not so in europe. 75 euro for xwing is daylight robbery, while 42eur (US price) seems much better. I know, this has been discussed many times , but I cannot help mayself to not be angry when I see such nice sets with prices I am not willing to pay.
