Number: 4429 Name: Helicopter Rescue Theme: City Year: 2012 Minifigs: 4 Pieces: 425 Price: 49,99 EURO/USD Links: Bricklink Brickset Today I review long awaited hospital set. It's supposed to get released sometime in the summer, but I was lucky to find one in german lego brand shop. The box: Box is similar size like last years bank or city corner. Its only half full, but thats quite usual for todays sets, so nothing too bad about that. Its without "limited edition" band, so I guees it will not be store exclusive, like bank. If you look at it carefully, you will notice that ambulance car is somewhat enlarged and helicopter shinked (car is almost bigger then helicopter which is not exactly the case when set is assembled), which corrects one of larger drawbacks of this set. Back side of box shows usual multiple scenes played with set, together with ever present "hey" guy, this time in paramedic uniform. This set is so far this year only one from "hospital subtheme", so the box shows "great vehicles" as its "family" sets. Box contents: There are four bags, one for each vehicle and two for main building. There are also some large plates (like in all recent sets there is no baseplate), three instruction manuals and DSS. Instructions: Like said, instruction manuals are three, all thin and different sized (which annoys me very much). There are part callouts on each page and part list at the end of third manual. At first I was happy to see that "hey" guy is not on the back of the manuals, but then I noticed that he is still on one of small manuals. Largest also shows forest police theme. Dreaded Sticker Sheet (DSS): DSS is medium sized and of good quality (better than on ambulance in great vehicles theme). Bag 1: Ambulance First bag builds small ambulance car. There are no new parts (at first I thought that red mudguards are new, but then I saw that they were in several other sets). There is also banana, on which the patient slips and causes injury. Finished vehicle is four stud wide and really small. It can hold driver and stretcher with patient which amazing considering its size. Strecther's handles have to go under drivers hands, and infusion bottle have to be be placed correctly hovewer. In comparison, ambulance from "great vehicles" theme look giant: Its roughly the same size as small truck from police helicopter set and its clear that lego is currently producing two very different sized vehicle types. Mifigures: Bag 1 also holds three minifigures (fourth is helicopter pilot in bag 2). Theye are: generic patient, female paramedic (different then the one in great vehicles set) and doctor, which is new. It has printed legs, which should continue body print, but is totaly different colour. I guess that they will correct this in later batches, but for now it pretty much ruins comlete minifigure. Bag 2: Helicopter: Bag two builds helicopter. There are generic parts for front part of helicopter, but not for back side (which would be nice, bacause white helicopter tail does not exist for now). Finished helicopter is somewhat different than those from previous years. Its shorter (and overall smaller) than others because it has different back end with loading platform. Back side with platform. It fits stretcher with patient and pilot at the front. Side view is somewhat strange, because of "chopped" back side of cabin: Pilot torso is new for me, with paramedic stripe, pockets and (i assume) parachute handles. It also has leg printing! We also get another stretcher: Comparison with police helicopter. As we can see it shorter and its main rotor is smaller. Bag 3: Main building - part 1 Bag three builds garage and main building base. There are mainly just larger parts, but most of them are very useful. You get (always wanted) parts for rolling garage doors, doors, window and two panels, five 4x2 DBG tiles and a lot of bricks with groove (whole set uses mostly just bricks with grove and almost no "ordinary" bricks, even for non visible parts, which is nice, because you could swap them and use them for lets say maersk train containers). Bag three finished and we can see that floor in garage remains green, and that interior is not well equiped. We get two chairs and desk with computer. You can notice long brick with garage roller groove in place of normal brick. Right side of garage is just large hole: Back side of base floor: Bag 4: Main building - part 2 With bag four we complete main building and whole set. Part wise its nothing special. We get three trans blue panels and bunch of "normal" bricks. Finished set: Main building looks nice and car is also in scale, only thing that doesnt fit is (too large) helicopter. Side view: On back side we can see how poorly equiped is main building: On top floor there are two beds, control panel and pole with infusion bottle. Right side shows that helicopter can hardly fit on the platform: "great vehicles" ambulance can not fit into garage: Buildin is same size as bank, city corner and building site building, but its not compatible like those are (so you can just change the floor). Red frame and large glass panels connect building between floors, so those can not be easily separated. Otherwise they look good together. Conclusion: We have waited long for new hospital and this set deliveres it, but for many people this set is disapointing. Out of scale vehicles, bad printing and empty interior are indeed bad, but I still think this set is ok for its money. It looks nice and its great basis for modding. Design & Build 6 nice main building and interesting build, but on the other side poor interior and out of scale vehicles Parts 7 Some nice parts although nothing new Figures 6 Doctor is nice but it has very bad printing Playability 8 With solid construction, garage doors, helicopter and ambulance, this set very playable. Value 8 For 50 euro we get ambulance (which would cost at least 10 euro on its own), helicopter (whih again is at least 20 euro) and not so small main building. Overall, this gives us 7 out of 10 points, which I think is realistic. Set has its drawbacks, but most of those could be easily modded and after all its still hospital, which is missing in many layouts (mine also)

I would also like to join. I have 200+sets from almost all themes, Canon DSLR camera and decent (CAD workstation grade) computer.

Here is short review on our local LUG site. http://kocke.si/forum/viewtopic.php?p=57373#57373 English version will follow, but I am a littile pressed for time now, so it will have to wait a day or two.

Yes, it fits, with patient and driver (but not with doctor as in bigger version) No, the floors are fixed and layout is not entirely rectangular and there is passage to garage, so this not compatible to other two sets. But its the dame size and it looks good next to those. I have not yet assembled the bank, bu i think that its also not compatible.

They had: City: hospital, large mining truck (xxl version) Monster fighters: zombies set Super heroes: all sets from first wave Micro modulars (also assembled in glass cube) Some Ninjago and friend sets also looked like from new wave, but i'm not 100% since i dont know them so well.

I think not. Look how small is new one: Doctor is nice (there is also pilot, which is no on pic and not in bag 1) "missing" front of box:

I am halfway through build now (i will post some pics later, i have only ipad now, which is crap for picsg). You start with ambulance which is very small (almost microscale). Helicopter is nice from front but wierd from behind. Set has four minifugs, patient, doctor with printed legs, female paramedic (different than in current ambulance set) and helicopter pilot. This set is clearly a succesor to bank and city corner set (which i both have). Box size is very similar, 16 stud size concept also and the price (which is 50 euro/usd - my set strangely has dollar price on it, even if it was bought in germany). Box however does not have special/limited edition band on it, so it will probably will not be store exclusive.

Fortunately, I have hi-res camera (18mpix), so I was able to make this crop (from same picture): http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Cwetqo/4429/img_8883-1.jpg I bought the set in Munich Lego store today.

I have new hospital. I will probably make review in few days, but for just photo of back side, where more detail could be seen: I also saw mining truck and some other sets.
-
Today I was in Lego Store in Munchen and this set can be normally bought. Price is 40 or 50 euro (I forgot) and they also have one assembled in glass cube. It looks nice, but unfortunately I had other priorities (new lego hospital and some mining sets were also on sale)

Selection of bricks in Legoland, Germany
Cwetqo replied to Redhead1982's topic in General LEGO Discussion
When you are going? We will be there on 27th so if you are going after that I can give you fresh info. P.S.: zgleda da bomo spet sami slovenci gor, hehe... -
I was really excited when receiving each of the "classic" technic sets, but I think I was most happy with 8448. My frined bought it in 1999 and I was admiring it for next 9 years and when I decided to coma back from "dark ages", I first bought this set. It was my first technic build after almost 20 years and it felt great.

30.000euro in one building? You could buy real house for that money in some countries... :D Thats on convention though and its not so hard to achieve, but having it just for yourself is plain studid. We played with 4 CC-s at our show and 2x extra floor combination looked best. With four CC-s placed side it looks too low for building that wide. GE also looks nice stacked and since it has two floors in each its not so hard to get good result with lets say just four set (which currently cost less than one cafe corner). 8 would be perfect though and way than what you would with two CC-s for same price.

I got 10155 from S@H. It went to "not available" in next moment, so I guess I got last one. And It was even on sale! :)

If you want 100% original set than you have no choice but to buy them all. If not, than I think so: -white panels - no (use new type with thick walls) -dark blue arch - no (use lbg, dbg or black) -dark red roof slopes - yes -lbg door - no (use light grey or black) CC will still look very nice and only expert will notice the difference.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Cwetqo replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Definetly not. Anyone who boilt 10179 will tell you why: because of its size 10179 contains large technic frame, which holds evrything together. Also, tere are a lot of hinges, vents parts are way too small and you would need a lot more greebling material. 4x 7965 coub be useful for some bley parts and minifigs, but you would really need a lot more to build 10179 sized falcon. -
I bought most of them "in secret". Well, technically its not in secret, because she told me to hanlde it myself and just keep in mind what we can afford, but I still prefer to bring sets home in a way she dont see them, because I know that she would complain anyway, especially for bigger boxes. I buy most from money which I make extra (with repairing some computers, resellng lego etc...) and usually just sets which are very discounted or I get them thru my local LUG channels, so financialy at the time is not such problem as it is with space, which is used for lego. So, in short: she knows i'm buying lego, and she supports my hobby, she just dont want to know what nad how much it costs.

German also (179,99euro) Available/will ship now.

Unfortunately I use 9v layout, but if I would heva plastic only version I would certainly consider som uses. This, for example: I know its ugly, but its also very stable, because it uses flex sgment just as straight 1/4 track segments. 3 curve radius is also possible, but not so stable: DBG plates should be used for nicer look of course.

Prices will be the same as for PoTC. That means 129eur (I got that confirmed) or 102GPB (might differ a little, but not much). Not all sets match, but at least moria (=whitecap bay) and weathertop (=london) do.

I work in company which manufactures eye surgery lasers and also uses all kind of LED diodes. I dont know exact specifiations of diode used in light bricks, but I'm pretty sure its power and concentration of light is under the limit which would require special warnings. Light brick is made in that way that emitted light is well spread (diffused) any other and loses power rapidly, not like in laser pointers or similar devices, where its focused on one spot. Looking at it is as dangerous as looking at christmas light or any other normal light. Long time staring at it would probabaly cause temporary "spot" in your vision, but nothing more. Looking directly in sun is far more dangerous.
