I also think that lego is doing very good lately: we got a lot of trains, very good technic sets and, and constantly solid performers in city and sw. What I dont like is how they treated some themes, like Kingdoms and in some degree also Harry Potter and Pirates. Availability of 2nd wave of Kingdoms was very limited (most shops never got them) and announced EOL not even after full year. Similar was (at least in our coutry) with 2nd wave of Harry Potter (I never saw smaller hogwarts set in a store) and with pirates (this theme would really deserve at least second wave and even the first one disapeared very quickly).

Based on box art minifigs are: 1 doctor (new torso with stetoscope, similar to 7902), 1 paramedic (same as in new ambulance), one civilian (generic male) and possibly a helicopter pilot. It looks like no new printed parts, cant tell for new parts and there certainly are a lot of medical stickers. It looks like similar package like last years bank, so I guess availability and price will be the same (store exclusive, 50 euro)

MY fellow LUG member made version with wider red stripe: http://kocke.si/forum/viewtopic.php?t=4574&highlight=3180

I agree, but sadly I think this is correct price. There was also info from online shop that price will be 89 us $ which (in lego terms) is roughly 79 euro.

If I saw correctly castle is 100 euro and train is 80 euro. I'm not sure though, because prices on boxes are really hard to see.

I see that they changed helicopter box art to show "Ready for Power Functions" instead of "Batteries not included" as on prelim pics. The tractor is really ugly. Bad copy of one from 8049, with same lime panels and too streamlined front. I also dont like the spreader. It looks strange without protevtive ring. They could just as well skip this model, if you ask me.

8297 is good for parts (it has best offroad tires, all suspension and steering parts and decent amount of panels and other technic parts), but as a set is not so good. Body lifting mechanism is nice and it solid looking, but that's it. For that kind of money get Unimog. It has all those parts and a lot more (except tires, but those are also ok) and its much more interesting build. 8070 supercar is also nice choice and for it was suprisingly good build, after first disapointment.

Could this be a new "golden age" of LEGO train?
Cwetqo replied to DaddyDeuce's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Add Harry Potter train and Toy Story train and we have selection like never before. But I still think that golden era is 2001-2003 period. We had: 10020 Santa Fe 10022 Sleeping Car 10022 Observation Car 10022 Dining Car 10025 Mail Car 10025 Baggage Car 10001 Metroliner 10002 Club Car 3740 Small locomotive 3741 Large locomotive 3742 Tender 10013 Open Freight Wagon 10014 Caboose 10015 Green Passenger Wagon 10016 Tanker 10017 Hopper Wagon 4512 Cargo Train 4511 High Speed Train 10027 Train Engine Shed 4513 Grand Central Station 10128 Level Crossing 4514 Cargo Crane All that in two years! That was before LEGO almost went bankrupt and decided that this was not rational, so from then on we are getting fewer, but larger sets. -
Instruction no. 4 is for version without LA and is not working ok. I recommend version no. 5, which works fine, only problem is too direct transmission from motor to wheels. I solved it by using variable remote, which enables motor to start slowly, but I plan to rework back part to insert higher gear ration transmission.

I was in my favorite toy shop few days ago and deciding whether to buy MVR. After new year I was pretty low on cash, but since I saw that there is just one set left i asked if will get another shipment. Nice lady there let me look in 2012 trade catalogue (1H and 2H version) and there was no kongdom sets at all (exclusives are usully not in those catalogues). So, sadly, there will really be no no new Kingdoms set in 2012. Im glad I finnaly got my MRV though (last box in that store and most likely in whole town, because I searched for it a lot). Whats interesting is that they still got several pieces of MMV (10193). So, at least in that store, Castle outlived Kingdoms.

I use iPAD and it's ok (higher resolution would be nice, but I guess that we will have to wait for ipad 3 for that). In the past I used laptop and It was also ok (picture is even better), but unconvinient for larger models, because it takes too much space on the worksurface. Of course, iPAD is not the only tablet. Any android tablet could be used and in these days you could get them for as low as 100 euro or even less. Every android will be able to support reading pdfs, if not out then with free program downloaded from android market. Speed, amount of memory, quality of dispelay and other technical details are not so important here, because basicaly you are looking at static pictures. From this standpoint iPAD is really an overkill. LEGO pdf quality is not perfect, but it ok and usable. I remember building 8880 from very bad pdf scans and THAT was painful.

I am currently administrating a network of 30 clients, 2 servers and several printers and other network devices spread across two locations. We are using windows server platform (currently 2003 and 2008 and changing to full 2008 environment soon). I have also some experience with linux, but for unexperienced user i think windows server is the way to go. So, if I understand correctly, all pcs are allready on the network? With that you can already use sharing, remote desktop and several accounts (and settings) on each computer. Only thing which is not possbile is to have the same account spread across all computers and for that you need server. Setting up windows server is not THAT difficult and there are several nice giudes on the internet and if you are using new, "fresh" system you can experiment a little. So, you have to install it, set up domain, DNS and DHCP, set up active directory, create users, assign them place on the server, create new user account on clients and move their files and settings to server. After that you try and log on to their domain accounts and thats it.

Help me remote control 8070
Cwetqo replied to Saberwing40k's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I am buliding similar sized car with rc motors and tires from 8070 and it drifts without problem. I am using large receiver rc battery box from rc race buggy, which is best for those motors, but wil certainly not fit intoo 8070 chasis. Unfortunately i dont have extension cables to try it with rc receiver and battery box.
