Hmm... You can not buy 8455 because you have 8069. You can not buy 8421 because you have 8053 You can not buy 8285 because you have 9397 So, you are left with just few good sets: 8464, 8436 and 8868 (which is also similar to 9397). Since you like construction equipment, I recommend 8464 (or onf its other two versions). Its decent looking front loader with 4x4 drive and interesting steering.

Rumor: Lego moving brick production away from China
Cwetqo replied to Pro_Ice's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Ok, this is not economic forum so just in short: I purchase around 2 million euro material (parts form medical lasers) all over the world each year and we started moving some of that to china a few year, but now we move more and more of it back to germany, france etc..., despite of consideralby higher price. Chinese can make solid produtcs, but they have problems with keeping that quality and in many cases loss of trust of your customers is not worth the price difference. So, I'm happy if this will prove to be true. Lego is more and more becoming luxury product (at least outside us) and I expect only premium quality. -
Technic 1h 2013
Cwetqo replied to sama's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
At firts look I thought that B model of motocross bike was another chopper, but now I see that its actually speedway bike. I like how they made front arm guards (because of all dirt in the air they are must-have) and foot rest on just one side (other foot is usually on the ground) For those not familiar with this sports, its oval track dirt racing where most of the time they drive sideways. Bikes are adapted to that. I also think so. I often see similar tractors at work, but they are mostly with tires, not tracks (bales are usually picked in grass surface, and tracks would do nothing good to it) -
On pics I saw Squad member use some semi-translucent "nets" to capture aliens. Its done with photoshop, so I thought those are just "special effect" on pictures, but it seems that it might be actual new lego part. Somehow it reminds me of Ghostbusters and their cacthing device.

Any of Pharaohs Quest sets, Grand Emporium modular, SW Jabba's palace., Toy Story Woodys Roundup. PQ is best choice bu its mostly gone form shops, so I would choose Grand Eporiom. It has lots of parts for modest price.

I think this is correct. Atlantis was never meant as permanent theme, but number of sets (and waves), investment in promotion and production quantities were substentialy larger than with "simple" themes like lets say Alien Conquest. And, as result of that, some shops still can not get rid of some first wave sets (expensive neptune carrier leads here), despite discounts of up to 80%. Similar is with large portal of atlantis, which could not sell even at 50% discount.

AFAIK there wil be no new GS sets in 2h 2013. For 2014 its impossible to tell, but i think that its very unlikely. They didnt even kept Monster Fighters, which is a succesfull theme. Regarding "bad" themes: from what i've heard really bad did: Toy Story, Atlantis, World racers and Prince of persia. Pirates and Kingdoms were doing ok but got cut because of licensed themes. Other, like Space Police, Alien Conquest nad even city space were doing "normal", which means that sales were in expected boundaries.

One missing colour is white. Oh and I checked about release date: its march 2013.

I can confirm that ship is indeed from this theme. And there are no four armed minifigs.

I agree that people want complete sets, not just rolling stock, even if we, AFOLs, think differently. Not too long ago austrian TRU had Maersk trains for 69,99 euro, which I think is really good price. To my suprise there were still few left on stock, but more interesting was that TRU employees added large note "no tracks, motor and remote included". It looks alike they had problem with buyers coming home and not being able to run their trains and they returned them or swaped the formother trains. The problem is that while we dont have any problems with buying motor, tracks and other stuff, "ordinary" people just dont want to bother with it or dont know where to look. And for them this train is useless. And so, while there was maersk train sitting there for insanely low price, I saw couple with kids purchasing just minimaly reduced (to 139,99 euro) 3677 cargo train. Bad deal? For them not. They got train with one more car, nice trackside object, decent amount of tracks, motor, receiver and remote control. With maers they would get just train with two cars and small truck.

There is no notification regarding EOL. FB was predicted to go EOL long time ago, but because of some production errors they did another run and thats why those sets are still on shelves. It could happen that FB and GE will be gone at approximately the same time (GE according to regular product life and FB to prolonged time). One thing is sure: with presentation of cinema set lego will work to have just 3 sets on sale: cinema, pet shop and town. availability of FB and GE will be just until stock lasts. If you have money get fire brigade and grand emporium now, but if you have for just one, buy grand emporium. Its great set. Look at this topic. Its exactly about that. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=75247&hl=

This is just for 1st half of 2012. According to my information there will be large creator house in 2nd half, possibly even as creator "flagship" set.

I myself have Helms deep, but in this case I recommend Kingdoms Joust. Its nice, playfull and "feel good" set, with usable minifigures. Helms deep is better parts pack, but you would have to heavily rebuild it to make it appealing to youngs. You could get several "gandalfs arrival" sets and at least one of each "weathertop" and "uruk hai army" sets.

Yeah, thats what I meant. In Slovenia we never got Monster Fighetrs and they are even not in regular catalogue.

Technic 1h 2013
Cwetqo replied to sama's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Pictures from catalogue are at least half year old and I guess that improved everything a bit. They also did not have stickers ready and I guess that thats why they changed side panel colour. It probably goes better with white than original red. Talking about stickers: I really dont like them and I think that tshi will be my first set without applied stickers. -
I am. But stock was very limited. I got there on the second day of that sale and they only got 3 sets left on shelf (they all went home with me of course). They also had City Police Superpack (police station, dog van, police minifigure collection and police bike), which was just 59,99 eur and that was sold out on first day.

Flatbed looks like Mercedes Sprinter.

Those pictures look really nice. I will most probably buy formula racer, backhoe, motocross and materila handler. Its interesting how those pictures differ from ones I saw in retailers catalogue. Formula racer is very different, with stickers and many different coloured parts. I like that new version has large white panels and that there are more functions than it was predicted. And I dont like those stickers. Motocross is the same, backoe also, material handler has different back of main body (better) and even both pull back cars look acceptable now. -
Well, it is not. I saw "hard evidence" that its 1h set, only problem could be that it might be "limited availability" set (not available in all coutries).

Wchich set ?
Cwetqo replied to FiFake's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I agree with 8265. Its great set, on par with flagships, except that it dont have power functions included. 8284 is also great set, nice looknig and big, but with not that many functions. 8109 is most modern and has clever functionality, but I think is most expensive of all offered here and not big enoug for 100 eur set. -
TRU had them on sale about a month ago (for very pleasing 69,99 euro), so I guess its really going out. Ship was also gone very fast, so I beleive they do it a little differently with these sets. Maybe its got something to do with special colour, which was only done in one run.

Dont get too excited, its most probably just well known wind-up motor, which you can release with a push of the button
-
Its much better to buy complete 9398. Even if you buy all PF parts you will still need wheel and tires which are anotherat least 20$ and also those frames, panels and special parts are not so cheap. 1999 Mindstorms set SOME technic parts, but enough for any serious building and even those included are all of older types, so to build something storng enough for new motors, you would have to buy almost all parts new. Other alternative is 8110 Unimog, which has even more parts, buy you would have to buy additional motor and PF receiver and remote (and most probably new tires). Old mindstorms motors are useless for TT building. They are much too underpowered to move that sized vehicle even on flat ground.
