For me, tihis was kind of succesor. Ok, its not d2c, but it follows the same principle as MMV:

I can confirm that TLG is also following this and that, in their words "situation is not optimal for both parties involved". I dont know if anything else will come out of it regarding this specific case, but there might be some new rules or guidelines on CUUSOO (although nothing yet was said about that)

Its no secret: after LEGO almost went bankrupt after year 2000, one of steps undertaken by then new CEO Jorgen, was to limit number of different part and also colours. That worked very well (together with other undertaken measures it help TLG get out of red numbers injust few years) and they are sticking to it. I once discussed this with Jan Beyer from TLG and he said that(for example) in order to get all needed new colours for Friends theme, many less used colours were discontinued.

Are you sure that education set is cheaper? I checked german prices: Ev3 retail set - 349.99 euro Ev3 edu set - 386,74 euro Ev3 software is 119,99 euro All prices are with tax. Regarding software: retail software will be available for free download and it should work with edu system. We will just have to wait for edu blocks to be available and, if possible, instructions for edu builds.

No, I mean sensors from edu version. You can buy them at edu retailers and the prices are not that high. I planned to buy at least gyro sensor, but now I'm considering getting edu version too. Proble is that here, in slovenia, it costs more than retail version 369 vs 349 and I dont really need other stuff except sensors. I can get gyro, ultra and additional touch for around 100 euro. Rechargeable battery might be deciding factor here, but now, with this problems I dont know.

I just got early release of retail kit with software version 1.0.0. Sadly, there are just blocks for IR, Touch and Colour sensors. A question for those of you who bought additional sensors: do they also include blocks or ohter support software. there is option "import blocks", but I dont know if additional blocks are available yet? I want to purchase at least Gyro and additional touch sensors, maybe also ultrasonic. Otherwise, first impressions are so-so. Box is very small and you have to cut envelope to get test pad. There is no tray or even cardboard inserts (or boxes like with NXT). Stuff is just thrown in, like in other lego sets. Brick looks nice, but it takes forever to power up and, interesting, also to power down.

LBR & S@H Product Discount Restriction (NORTH AMERICA ONLY)
Cwetqo replied to CopMike's topic in General LEGO Discussion
We will see. 15%+vip is more "reasonable" discount, but if they will limit exclusives out of that, those AFOL days will be pointless. Hopefuly there will still be double VIP points, so it would be better to shop. I know that TLG is not obliged to give us anything, but it certainly leaves some bitter taste. Luckily, so far there is nothing on LA forum about this being valid for europe too, and hopefuly they will take into consideration that we just barely started with those (at least us in slovenia and here on eurobricks). -
@teflon: i presume that you still have EV3 education kit? Did you also get software? Are instructions for edu sets included? On paper or via software? There are supposed to be ipad and android apps with instructions, but they are not online yet. I wonder if they will include just retail models? I would also like to know iouldf edu software contains blocks for IR sensor? It should, because edu is selling those as replacement parts.

Review - 42008 Service Truck
Cwetqo replied to technicmad's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Designer of that set is Alfred Pedersen, so it must be named after someone else. -
Retail will cost 349,99 euro. You would need gyro, ultrasonic and one additional touch sensor plus unknown number of bricks to build educaton models. Three sensor alone will cost you around 100 euro, so maybe its better to wait and gather some money and buy educational set too. Please also note that you need two P-bricks for some larger education models. Regardins specific questions: its impossible to tell before we get partlist.

I think that those might be mixed new and old sets. Those list always contain both. But I havent seen any of it, so its just my speculation.
