    ''A bad day''

My opinion: Looks very good, Wouwie13! And it's still a WIP so you have possibilities to improve it even more. I like how the soldiers are hiding and your pirate-tribal leader-Green Hair looks cool as well. A big from me! Possible improvements: 1) I would put some additional grey bricks on top of the rock formation, since it looks a bit "build" now, too flat on the horizon I mean. 2) Try to let the pirates that hide in there do something: maybe they could be cooking and eating some food above their fire? 3) I would continue to "finish" the forest a bit. A few more plants, some height differences, rocks, animals,... and do you have tiles? You can use tiles to make things look more smoothly, like the torture plate the pirate is being burned upon. 4) You can always add some minor items to improve the level of detail: like plumes (yes I said it again ) and more weapons for the pirates, I see you stored some in their boxes but it might look better if they hold them. (MINOR) Non-brick related advise: 1) Next time, take your pictures at 800x600, this is better for the quality of them.
  2. Yeah, I think most of us can agree with the fact we all want children that will once love Lego as much as we do and therefore let them play with it, but that it might be better to hide our precious parts, minifigs and especcialy our MOCs! I don't have any kiddos either but I have an eleven year old nephew that comes here nearly daily and that has my permission to play with my Lego (I do hide my Napoleonic Army and some of my Pirate and Trains Lego though, even when I know he is very carefull with it - I made it clear to him old Lego is expensive and he's really a smart lad so he understands) IMHO age eleven is a huge difference with age eight BTW, and eight is a world of difference with age five... At eleven they (should) understand all of our instructions and I think there isn't any kid of that age that still chews on Lego or destroys it for fun: the main reason AFOL's don't like sharing their Lego with kids. Anyway, that's my not entirely different view on this case . Then you better start making them... And Green Hair told me if you need some help doing so, you can always count on him! BTW: Can I play with your Lego? I be the good English and you be the evil wicked French ! I promess to not leave that much bitemarks!
  3. Very innovative to use such a mini-background. And the mini BSB is so cool I want one too! A few improvements you could make: - Use more tiles on the fortification wall, that way it might look smoother. - I think you used a bit too MUCH blood... - Maybe you could add some more details in the backgound, like even more trees and so.
  4. WOW - that MISB Skulls Eye Schooner is awesome! If I only had the money to buy it...it certainly is a good investment since prizes of old pirate sets in MISB will only rise! Anyone interested: you can find this marvelous item underneath if you turn Ebay advertisements on! (near the top since time is running out) ONLY 2 hours left ! Just found this beautiful MISB Imperial flagship on eBay! CLICK HERE to place a bid! No biddings yet....
  5. Very good, Monkfish, I think your Star Wars minifigs have really succeeded. Your Commander Finch is the best in my opinion, but I like all of them! A big from me.
  6. You have the 2009 Pirate sets???
  7. White with a cannon pattern, just like the incredibly beautiful Imperial Flagship (of the Guards I mean) And it seems I am not the only one who likes that one most.
  8. -Where are you from? Berlaar, Belgium -How old are you? 26-Name? Dieter -male/female? Male -single or married? Single -kids, pets, imaginary friends, real imaginary friends, side personalities in minifigs/username? Cat + fishes -what do you do for a living? Student/Sick leave -Any other hobbies/activities? Shooting, WWII and gun collecting, paintball -Why did you become a Lego fan? Endless fun! -When did you start? Age 6-7? -Why did you join the Eurobricks community? I saw Bonapartes army... -What do you do here? Make reviews, some MOCs, do some work for C-P, comment,... -How much time do you spend here typically? At least 2 to 3 hours a day -How much time do you typically spend with Lego? Unknown, but a lot And a few new questions -Have you gone through a "dark period" with Lego or the website? Between my 19th and 24th -Why? Too busy working and studying -How do you feel about being part of this community? Great, because off the same reasons as Greenhair, meeting friends and hopefully I do meet them to in real live at some point! -How do you feel about being a Lego fan? I love napoleonics in general, Lego is a great way of expressing this. -How do people around you view it? Only my brother says its childish, the others don't care about it or love it. -If in a relationship, what are the interactions with them and your Legos? No relationship at the moment. -Same as above, but for kids? and pets and so on? My cat likes to chew on Lego...no kids yet. -What do you think about the "spirit" of the website? Its friendliness? Very friendly, but not around long enough to say more then that, I'm too much a newbie for that. -Has your relationship with Lego changed? No...??
  9. And you have the traditional auction sites like eBay. Bricklink however is IMHO the best source for finding minifigs or parts of minifigs.
  10. This looks like a large and reasonably good WIP, but I just can't give you good advise yet with such picture, so if you have the time and if you think your ship is completed far enough please post a decent pic of it. Remember: - Your first pic will be judged - Use all of the 800x600 pixels, it is large enough so you can use it. - Try to create a digital background (with water) to make the total look better, at least for your first pic. - Only use real Lego bricks (except for sails and stuff), read the rules carefully so you will not get disqualified!
  11. Great work Mister Phes, this really comes in handy for us creative critics as well.
  12. This is a fantastic custom minifig you made here, I love your animal minifigs (referring to the piraty ones you've made). I can see what parts you used to create this Beach Pig and although simple, it is ingenious as well! I eagerly await your next creation.

    Hello

Great to have you with us Def, I truly hope you will enjoy yourself here on Eurobricks. I am quite new here as well and I know for a fact I felt right at home from the first moment, mainly thanks to the great staff and because off the nice and friendly members that dwell these grounds. Don't worry your collection isn't as large, you still have plenty of time to expand it, my collection wasn't born with me either .
  14. That's a great minifig, Dr. X, and I also watched the other ones from your Flickr account and I must admit that I am impressed, a very big from me!

    Marooned

A good entry indeed, and there is nothing much I can add to it. The tree is wonderful and so is the subject of this MOC. Except I would do this: for the sake of realism, I would add a source of fresh water (like a large bottle or something) since one can't drink seawater and eating without drinking doesn't keep you alive. Also a knife is needed, or did that brute rip her apart with his bare hands ?
  16. I'll be paying a visit shortly and I bring some food and medicin for the men, so maybe I can convince them to start a mutiny and to let me take them with me for some "healthcare" If I only would have known what they would cost now a few years ago... Nice army Bonaparte! Maybe if my army grows it can fight side by side with yours as Grouchy's corps (in Wavre, while yours is getting defeated in Waterloo).
  17. Well, I'm having a swing at it...pretty exhausting though, and when you're done there are another five waiting , but that only shows the succes of this contest. And I kept a small log of what I said on which PTV entry since I kinda expected that there would be so many (thanks to Phes' prizes). Anyway: much luck with the contest !
  18. 'cause I have to load my batteries and so probably something for the weekend. Sunday at last, but probably sooner.
  19. I can/will write a tutorial about camera and lightning settings. (time to dust off my old beloved cam!)
  20. My opinion: Very good and innovative MOC, a nice way to approach the cruelty "request" for PTV. Possible improvements: There is nothing left for me to say since this is already nearly perfect. 1) The first pic doesn't show much of the pirates themselves, maybe a picture like the second one with a slightly different angle could be better(try to let them look a bit into the lens, without making them look unnatural). But off course I can't see that from behind my computer. 2) Adding some tiles like Erdbeereis1 said would look nice I think. 3) Some small typos and/or spelling mistakes that will be forgiven anyway since you are Danish and therefore English is not your native language. PS: Your faces are just fine , so why would I comment on that, and I looked back in my post history log and I only said to add some feathers four times, on a total of more then thirty PTV entries... BTW both of these things are always sooo minor... I did comment on ALL entries so far (at least I think I did, I might have missed some though.), that might be the reason . Please build more MOCs like this one!

    Attack

My opinion: A good start, RichardAM, I hope you can finish it! Right now there are some improvements to be made though, so I sure hope you will refind your motivation. Especcialy the house/bar looks nice. Possible improvements: 1) Add some trees or plants, a little bench perhaps,... to the garden. 2) A little boat with pirates would fit in fine (instead of the cannon). Non-brick related advise: 1) We NEED MORE PICTURES! Then we can give you some more possible improvements.
  22. Your updated/final version looks amazing! You can win a prize with this...
  23. My opinion: Very good MOC, 74louloute, you used an inventive way to represent the minifigs in the water and the soldiers hiding in/near the barrels are great. Make some minor improvements and you are in for the prizes! Possible improvements: 1) Admiral Martins seems to be bleeding everywhere, that's good, but he really should have a better face...like a screaming one! 2) As strawberry says: use more tiles if you have them, it will make your entry look smoother. 3) I see some oppurtunities for adding extra details: like a rat in poor old White beard's jail. A wooden flagpole and even more plumes are other options you might explore. Non-brick related advise: 1) The first picture isn't the best, I would take another one because it is this one that will be judged!
  24. I couldn't agree more: it has cruelty, humor and it looks really detailed and finished! A big from me, mate!
  25. Actually I think that is why he got a 'vengeance spirit' or whatever that ghostly fig is, after all his first one (Napoleon/Bonaparte) didn't do him much good, especcialy not lately...I just LOVE these Whacker and the Walrus comics and I must agree that it is Hinckleys time to win this time, GO HINCKLEY !!!! Then again, it is he who writes them and I think he has some sado-masochistical tendencies ! BTW HINCKLEY: did your father wack you much on your megablocks when u were a kid? Or did your mother? I think you might suffer from an Oedipuscomplex...
