My opinion: Very good entry, LegoKing, well finished and fits right into the PTV theme! Possible improvements: 1) I would have used a different color if it is an outdoor cell (like brown), but I can't really make out it is inside or not. 2) If inside, a rat would be better, if outside the parrot can stay. 3) Try to make the pirate look into the lens by using a slightly different angle.

My opinion: The Non-Disney version of Pirates of The Carribean ... your entry is so cool and wonderfull, Tony! I regret you posted it this late so no more improvements can be made, not that any need to be made but...you know what I mean. The burning fortress and the use of light is marvelous! And your minifigs are very detailed. A very, very big from me! Possible improvements: 1) Only thing I would have liked was to see more soldier, but you reanacted a scene I presume so you know best what belongs in it or not...therefore I shall keep my japper shut ! Non-brick related advise: NONE, but the fact I want to see more detailed pics too (just for fun, not because I doubt quality or rule-mistakes or something.)

My opinion: Very nice entry, to be honest I would have liked seeing more jungle based entries in this competition... Possible improvements: 1) CROCODILES! I like crocs! At least in this MOC they wuild be suitable IMO. 2) I would have let the fleeing pirates loose their treasure to the water, since that would be more cruel! 3) More deaths and possibly the pirates being massacred a bit more... let them try to reach the other side of the jungle where their captain tries to cut the ropes .

Nice straw roof indeed! And your improvements are great, everything looks so much better now. One possible improvement: why not giving the soldier on the wall a normal head with one face instead of two??
-
My opinion: Really nice MOC, but it doesn't show us anything really new... Anyhows its nice to see another good PTV entry and I wish you the best of luck! Possibel improvements: 1) Why no window? I think it would be easy to incorporate one, even a smashed one against the ground will do. 2) I don't like the mixture of fleshies and yellows either...like in the Simpsons when you add real people... 3) Try using larger pics at 800x600 or at least 640x480. 4) In this particul case I would have to go with tiling the floor as well. 5) i would have used curved bricks to hide the white between the two walls that is a bit too clear IMHO.

Thanks for the update, svelte_corps, now your MOC could really be a winner, in this division it is one of my favourites anyway! I wish you the best of luck in the voting round.

Hehe, a strong and oh-so-funny MOC Captain Greenhair! And I thank you too for letting Sinner live, Eurobricks just wouldn't be the same without him. And I think you and one-armed Sinner could manage the forum by yourself. As you said so many times on MSN: all the rest are just 'needless bagage' , so a big from me.

My opinion: Not really a strong entry at this point i'm afraid, it could become one, but it needs so much work and the deadline has already been passed. So my adivse in regard to PTV: wait till the next contest and adapt some of our advise . Possible improvements: 1) RESIZE ASAP: or you will be unable to participate! It has been said so many times already, in- and outside this thread so please do so NOW. 2) All these colored plates don't really add to realism, please try to stick to one color. 3) You used to many non-pirate bricks and building, like the Civil War bank. 4) Try to take fresh, less blurry pictures. 5) Use a white or digital background, we can see al of your room and it is distracting us.

My opinion: A very good MOC, you managed to display it happens on a ship, which I truly like! It also is a unique concept. Your details are well done too, only thing I miss are some cannon and possibly more action. Possible improvements: 1)I Would have put the 'General Lee' face on the ground, showing what is going to happen to the other guy. 2)It looks a bit empty IMHO, perhaps adding a pirate captain or guard or an animal would 'fill' it up a bit more. 3) Why not having some cannons in the lower floor to show it is a pirate ship?

Very well finished, Captain Kirk, this most definatly is my favourite entry!

Good job guys, although some still need to resize and stuff.

My opinion: I like this entry very much, but it seems you don't have that much LEGO Pirates parts. Still you've done a marvelous job on it! The buildings are nice but i truly would try to improve the minifig-details if you can and have the parts. Possible improvements: 1) Many of your minifigs are bald, not such a huge problem but I would only balden the minifigs that don't have hair on their faces. 2) You used that dark red flag twice to represent blood, I don't really like that way though. Using it once can show originalism but twice is too much IMHO 3) You use many non-Pirate weapons like the rifle and revolvers, this is only a minor point but if you have muskets, pistols or cutlasses I would use them. 4) Minor points: add plumes for the tricorne hats, use heads with better facial expressions if you have them, let your minifigs make the best realistical movements possible. Non-brick related advise: 1) Adding a story is always an advantage. 2) Your first picture is the ONLY one that will be judged, so try to take one that shows all. 3) In your third pic, try to add more light next time you photograph it (if you do so at least), that way there is no flash and no or at least less shadow.
-
My opinion: A very good and gore entry, I especcialy like the guy being 'terminated' and your bird looks original too! Possible improvements: 1) It looks a bit too messy IMHO, a bit too much red. 2) Don't you have any more hats? 3) The rifle and revolver look a bit out of time, too futuristic IMO, a musker and a pistol would do better. Non-brick related advise: 1) Try adding an introduction. I think it would be more pleasant for the judges. 2) typo: solider should be soldier. 3) Your first picture should show all, including the bird, since it is this one that will be judged.

Sorry double post, please remove.

This is an invalid entry I'm afraid, its just waaaay to large for a small division. Change it to large and resize your pictures to a maximum of 800x600. They are a bit blurry in the back as well. I also see some things in the back that look like they are not in the Pirates age... Spelling errors: eg. "A pirate find " should be A pirate finds." Try using a translation tool for the words you don't know, I did so in the beginning and it really helped me learn faster. I am very happy to see you here and I thank you for entering the Pillage The Village Contest. I wish you the best of luck!

My opinion: A fairly good entry, it lacks some finishing and details though, I would advise to rework it a bit and then you're ready to compete with the top-entries ! Possible improvements: 1) I just don't like the long white 'smoketrail' of the fired cannon, I think it is overdone. I would remove it, but off course it's your MOC, not mine. 2) Do you have more pirates and/or boats? The water looks a bit empty IMHO. In this case I personnaly would have prefered using SNOT, just to make it appear less empty by adding waves and stuff. I would also add a few rocks in the water. 3) I would really tile up more space, like the white bricks above the statue. 4) Some additional details to finish it better: adding animals like birds or fish, a few more plants and an extra palmtree, plumes for the tricorne hats,... 5) Minor point: I see much bombarding and some fighting, as well as destroyed walls and houses. But what I miss is blood and victims that are ripped appart ! Not for me, but a lot of people like it and just might give you extra credit for it. Non-brick related advise: 1) you really should try deeplinking your pictures. Read this tutorial to discover how, else your entry might not even be judged! 2) Try to show off your new guards and minifigs a bit, it is something to be proud of and it is always better to show as many faces as possible on your first picture.

Improved version! - Two soldiers instead of one, and they are Spanish now because the colors are much better this way. - Added more building materials. - Added some subtile colored bricks... - Added a snake. - Brown lantern instead of blue. More pics will be added tomorrow! I hope you like it.

My opinion: This is, even now already as a WIP, one of my top-favourites! You truly have a good chanche to win a prize with this one, Captain Kirk, and I wish you the best of luck! REALLY looking forward to see this one finished btw! Possible improvements at this stage: At this stage, none ! Except for not forgetting to add a very nice background to your entry (a white one or a digital one if you can).
-
My opinion: Legojoe, this is a fantastic PTV entry! You managed to make a combination of cruelty, fun and eye for detail in a most original way. This definatly is one of my favourite entries from the medium division. Possible improvements: 1) What I miss: the governor and the pirate captain are the leaders of the 'classic' pirates and soldiers, so I really think you should have added them in a visable way (they are such a nice addition to your minifig collection anyway and the captain is dirtcheap!) 2) Perhaps you could let some 'classics' die by falling onto the rocks (by adding a small rocky stroke as some kind of beach) . 3) I agree about creating some waves into the water, as suggested in most MOCs by now... 4) Minor details: like finishing the cave a bit better by creating a background for it and adding plumes to the bicorne and tricorne hats. Non-brick related advise: 1) Try to add a white background the next time you take pictures of this MOC (if there is a next time).
-
Yes, you tried to directly put them online from your hard drive....And if deeplinking is too difficult, you could always use two as attachments...(max. 100kb)
-
My opinion: And another very good MOC from Erdbeereis1, who really has proven himself to be a fantastic brickbuilder! Possible improvements: 1) IMHO, for being one of YOUR MOCs, it lacks some details, like: a musket instead of a pistol, a feather for the tricorne hat, adding a rat, you should have decided between a dying (bleeding) pirate or a long dead (skeleton) pirate... 2) As suggested by Captain Kirk, I really would add some black birds to the picture if you have them. 3) A photographer managed to take a shot? Then it would be in black and white, no ? And why not adding one, even when it's a bit out of place in that period of time.
-
My opinion: very good, Erdbeereis1, i really like this entry. The market is so detailed and has so many wares to sell and your pirates look very good too. Possible improvements: 1) The dead soldier's position looks a bit weird, holding his arms a bit into the sky and why doesn't his head show us a very scared facial expression ? I would also put a red brick on his neck because the black on it is a bit disturbing IMHO. 2) Maybe you could add an opening in the street (with or without bars) so the pirates 'downstairs' seem a bit 'connected' to the ones above. 3) I agree with Guss about the upper wall section, but considering you have a good reason and do not have the bricks to build it anyway, you will be just as fine. Non-brick related advise: 1) Why don't you maximize the first picture to 800x600 to show us more? It will be easier for the judges as well to see your marvelous work!

3rd Mold - Enlarging my Austrian army
Zorro replied to woody64's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
I WILL buy some for my army after Christmas, when I counted my money . One problem though: I registered at Shapeways, but i can't see how to order, is this because it is a BETA version? BTW soon I will put an online library online with hundreds/thousand of pictures of all the different Napoleonic unit uniforms , units, weapons,.... The pictures will mainly be derived from 30 year old Fred und Liliane Funcken's uniform books as well as from certain free online sources, since I checked and they have no more rights in Belgium or the USA. I just need to make sure first I can get my hands on enough pictures and drawings without legal problems... I plan to have an alpha website online by March, possibly as some kind of subdirectory of Classic Pirates if they agree and if it can be incorporated. If you would be interested to be involved (by uploading non-licenced pics, writing, maintaining,...) please send me a PM. Maybe if it is a success you could even add a link to your future hat store. This offer is open to anyone else who has a strong knowledge about Napoleonic wars! -
Hehe, nice one Dennimator! But he stands no chanche against the foxy Zorromobile ! Bonaparte played a role too in the story (probably against his will but still he did play in it...), may I suggest giving the Emperor of France a beefed up racing horse with wheels or something ? Unless you already gave him one and I missed it.

Dutch people have some kind of perverted love with orange...
