Power Functions 2.0, how to have multiple motors on a single train?
Lok24 replied to LegoDW's topic in LEGO Train Tech
No, as I wrote, you have to use the "Controller" function under "create". There are two modes of the app: "play" (the fixed prog for a specific set) and "create" You find my prog or the one of Racing Bricks above. -
But you saw that this solution uses a Raspberry Pi microprocessor which has to be programmed according the BT protocoll?

Power Functions 2.0, how to have multiple motors on a single train?
Lok24 replied to LegoDW's topic in LEGO Train Tech
In the example shown above the two motors are connected to the same hub Port A und B. This cannot be used for trains as the cable is not long enough. The way to go is to use the "Controller" within the Powered Up App and code like that: Left: Hub 1 Port A, Slider 1, Right: Hub 2, Port A, Slider 1 * -1 LEDs in the same way. -
No and no, I don't have any train layout here. Yes, that's obviosly the simplest solution

It's my own design, but I presented it here (or somewhere else?) already. It's just a study, you can make it much better.

If you turn one of the knobs on the remote control that does't change polarity, but the "-" button is on top where on the other the "+" is via the bottom. You can easily push them simultaniously : You then connect the remote control to one hub and then the other hub to the same channel. I use the Powered Up app to code this.
-
Yes, a smart device or a remote control. add on motor command with V and the other for the second motor with V*-1 Turn one of the knobs by 180°.
-
I think its several long cables, depending on number of waggons and if light is desired as well. You can program them properly or use one of the handset knobs turned.
-
You can connect them both to the app or connect them both to the handset.
-
With Powered Functions you can motorize the second unit like the first on, connected via a cable and a switch to change the direction of the second motor. With Powerd Up you can add a second hub and motor to the second unit.
-
Ok, on this chart the source for that is mentioned, and here you find everything: https://www.philohome.com/motors/motorcomp.htm But naming is a bit different from LEGO.

you find the description of the motors and their features here in this thread: Which features you can use with which hub and system depends on the software you use.

2020 Mindstorms set

@GianCann @Tcm0 @Mr Hobbles thanks for clarification about saving files. I did not find any commands for that in the SPIKE app yet, my fault. -

That doesn't solve my problem: beeing on en event, having robots moving around. This must of course be possible without a cable, cause they are moving. Sure I could replace an empty battery with a second - loaded- battery. - But where should I load them? I would need a second Hub just for loading. Loading is only possible in the hub, the battery has no USB connector. -
Hi Thorsten, stiil not sure what the "problem" is. You wrote: The are some products on the market: Boost: 7+, easys to use, can be handled with out writing (and documentation), about 60 "lessens" Spike: 10-14 years, lessons can be downloadad EV3: 10-18 years, lessons can be downloadad And the LEGO Wireless Protocol is documented, as well as the python functions. And pybricks micro-python is well documented. The hardware is documented. That is why you can concentrate on programming and solutions for a given problem.

Ah, I referred to this page, the paragraph "Saving a program permanently" https://docs.pybricks.com/en/latest/start_pup.html -

It should be possible via python to connect multiple hubs - perhabs? As far as I know the hardware has no file-system.... -
You can download all the lessons, like with the EV3 or WeDo. And if you buy any set - what's so confusing with that? The fact that here is a discussion about internal programs and IDs has nothing to do with the product the customer sees. Did you ever do all the 60 lessons of the Boost Robotic Set? What do miss as documentation? A manual? For children that are seven years old?

Which can only be loaded within the hub, which means that your robot stands still for 2 hours while loading.... The EV 3 reachargeblabe battery could be loaded outside. -
I think there is some missunderstanding concerning motors. What you call "End" LEGO calls sometimes "linear". "Angular" is synonym for what you call "side". Only the two "blue" ones are "angular". As far as I understand.

At least the python version has a "motor.stalled" property, whitch may be essier to use than a user block. That could help saving sensors.
