  1. Nicely done, good job on the rigging, I think the costum hull is a bit blocky where it gets thinner but looking at the whole ship it looks pretty good , nice stern
  2. Seriously ? The FD was a masterpiece, I don't think they will actually rebuild the exact same ship again, unless they took shots before it was demolished it could appear in the next movies but that would be very unlikely, I accepted that she's gone (the Flying Dutchman I mean ) Either way, I do hope there will be some more sea-based adventures (ship battles) in the next movie
  3. I think it's a matter of availability of certain colors in ones' collection. Btw, I'm working on two ships of war, both with light gray decks, I don't use tan because I want to save those parts for other creations such as islands (sand), other builders might have the same reason for not using tan on ship decks. I suppose the most obvious alternative is brown, I used a lot of black on my older ships but that wasn't a very good idea because it makes the ship look dark and hides many details.
  4. Very nice, I love teh dark green on the rock, now that I see the whole thing (rather than the teaser) It reminds me about King Kong even more
  5. Very nice, I'd love to see a closer picture of the window at the lower level of the red building, that looks interesting
  6. As far as I know in the time ships were not build with the purpose of pirating, a ship was considered a pirate ship when it sailed under a pirateflag. There are a lot ships with imperial flags lately but I can tell you that I'm waiting to post a pirateship myself. Here's a preview; Now don't tell me this isn't piraty enough skulls on the sails, bones on the prow and a pirate flag ofcourse
  7. Aha, so there will be a second part
  8. If there is any chance of a Flying Dutchman it will have to be released soon, the dutchman plays no role in the next POTC movies so why would they wait ? (The Flying Dutchman barge has been broken down ) Forget about a UCS flying dutchman, that's just impossible
  9. A catamaran I have tons of Idea's but I'm waiting for the new seed part in a contest to start building (maybe I can make it an entry) Anyway, what do you think about: Kahuka Falls A high cliff with a sculpted face on top and through its mouth flows a srong stream of water, chrashing down into a lake with crocodiles. Behind the waterfall ? Kahuka's treasure Or what about: Crocodile Bay A cove where the islanders keep their boats (particulary catamarans) and their crocodiles, the entrance is decorated with stone faces I will personally build one of these locations but I haven't decided which one yet although I'm very eager to build a catamaran for the crocodile bay So, feel free to give the Kahuka Falls a try
  10. The deck looks beautiful. As for the steering mechanism, my flying dutchman is the type of ship that should have a whipstaff but to stay faithfull to the movie I decided to use a steering wheel anyway, it also looks cooler. Keep the wheel if you like it better
  11. The BBB would rip its stern apart before the cannon ball reaches the Barracuda That cannon's recoil when firing is not compensated. In my opinion that cannon doesn't count in this battle.
  12. Very impressive, especially the big stone head
  13. Interesting, I can see that's no human skull, reminds me a bit of King Kong (the latest, with the huge island with a wall and dino's ).
  14. [pid][/pid] Vignettes 221B Entry for seed part contest, the first seed part was the castle helmet. Here the seed part decorated the monsters' eyes. The second seed part was the chair piece. Here I used the seed part on the monsters' mouth and the hull of the fishing boat. More pictures: (you can also check out more on mocpages; Easy Lunch and Great Fishing Spot I first wanted to wait untill I had my 4 entries and then post them all in one tread but I figured there's not a big chance I'll make more sea monsters in this contest. Don't forget to vote
  15. surely you must atleast feel the need to modify/improve sets ?
  16. Very nice, that mermaid in the aquarium is brilliant, love it, oh and that pirate catching fish out of a basket
  17. I started my own Islanders moc... well, physically I haven't build anything yet, I only have a name and an Idea but unfortunatly also a big dilemma So Bjornu, I see your baseplate is tan colored, I'm considering using yellow for the beaches, like the classic sets, it might be risky as tan is kind of the standard nowadays, what do you think ?
  18. I might get the Spongebob flying dutchman but there's no way I'll even consider that ninjago ship, it's so expensive and there are hardly any useful parts in it
  19. Instead of lowering the gundeck it's better to consider this to be not a waterline model which would make more sense since the tumblehome shape of such ships makes that the waterline is situated near the widest region of the ship, in your ship that is about there where the brown stops and the tan begins. Let's see, this is just a small thing but it lt might influence the look of the ship a lot; if you change the lowest tan line to a brown line on the prow (there are three tan lines made out of curved pieces) the ship will have a better overall curve (so don't touch the rest of the ship, just the part on the prow).
  20. Very nice, I remember seeing it a while ago, I didn't notice the waves back then, a really nice touch, too bad it got destroyed, I would have loved to see the gold safe
  21. You make me want do dig up my islanders and build my own version of enchanted island And yes, there would certainly be a catamaran in it (love to use these emoticons here)
  22. Very nice, I love the hidden treasure, that's very typical for the big Islander set enchanted island, only thing missing would be a kahuka statue and a boat (that is if you're going for the classic style)
  23. Exactly I wouldn't have used chairs to make a hull if it wasn't for the contest, however, I do think the use of the chairs could be usefull for some types of ships, a big keel and flat bottom like that reminds me of the Viking ships, the drakkars, the keel is probably too big for that but still
  24. Thanks, I will post all my entries in one topic when the contest if over, I just feel the need to save forum space
  25. [pid][/pid]203A I used my ship curve technique or Modus Navum Flectere Sebeum, whatever you want, on a smaller vessel, a fishing boat, I made this as a part of my next Pirate Plunder entry, the seed part being the seats I used on the hull of the boat. Start small, then work onto bigger things btw, it's pretty inconvenient that that old sail doesn't have a fourth hole Anyway, you can see more here
