  1. My local toy store is having a combined Castle and pirate (the guy who runs it is a pirate nut) display for its late night shopping (I don't know how big a thing that is outside of the uk, basically shops stay open late one night of the year) window, to entice kids to come buy stuff, despite there being no pirate theme running at the moment. Anyway, one of the guys doing a module realised he'd over committed, so I've stepped in at the last moment, and built a module representing GoH. I'll try and get someone to take pictures, I'm working though so I might not. I've represented all four main guilds, with a slight Nocty bias!
  2. Wow! That's superb! So much detail, I don't know where to begin!
  3. Thanks Infernum! I was worried that it wasn't going to be dark enough!
  4. The tower has a nice ramshackle look to it. I always think offsets struggle unless they have other buildings around them, at varying angles, but I could see the offset! Nice MOC!
  5. Wish I had all those chrome pieces. Lovely MOC!
  6. I missed that first time, that's just sheer brilliance!
  7. Great build, love the angled plates, and the spirits are pretty spooky. Was Balthasar your character?
  8. Speed vs brute strength. Great idea, and I like the 'accident'.
  9. Thanks Emma! It looked weird having his eye open, even the staring one (which I thought might help with the shock of death, but it just looked like he was laying down. @Captain Settle, yeah he was short lived, he was there mainly to facilitate the rest of the story. People liked the fig, how could I not kill him off? It's drama people! Ha! I kinda miss him now though...
  10. That's awesome. I actually really like the card version haha!
  11. Read Part 1 HERE, Part 2 HERE and Part 3 HERE. "The apple tree that had stood watch over the grave burned, it's death sending a smoky signal into the sky. The wind was still, not even daring to fan the flames that flickered from the leaves. Blood stained the ground, running in rivulets away from an elderly Nocurnian, the shining red liquid reflecting the horror of the creatures desecrating the grave; a hunchbacked raven, an Avalonian warrior, and a soldier of the Hand of Corruption, bearing the colours of the Black Spire. Raven: "This is the resting place of that which we have sought for all these years. I cannot believe the guardian thought he could defend it." The raven gestured to the Avalonian warrior. "Sir Natas, if you had simply killed the woman and her damned child, you would now be in a position to make a play for the Avalonian Leadership. Ravaage is displeased. It is only the lack of other Avalonians willing to follow Ravaage that has kept you in the running for this. Consider yourself incredibly lucky." Sir Natas: "M'lord Zurias, I swear my fealty to Ravaage once again. I will not make another mistake." Zurias: "See that you don't. The sword, it is a symbol of the right to rule in Vladivus home in Avalonia, but the foolish half-breed doesn't realise it's significance." Sir Natas: "Yes m'lord." Zurias: "Take it. Feel it's significance in your hands." Sir Natas took the sword from the mess of bones in the ruined grave, hefting it in his hand. As he looked closely at the blade, an inscription in Elvish was apparent, describing the bearer of the sword as entitled to rule a land in Avalonia. Sir Natas: "It feels good. It is well made this sword. A true relic of the times before Avalonia and a united Historica." Zurias: "Leave the reminiscing, you have work to do. Gather your men, and travel to Avalonia. You must set yourself up as a ruler of lands. Plans are coming to fruition. Do not fail us. You will regret it. Go now, and with haste." The group dispersed heading out in opposite directions, each heading towards inevitable encounters..." This is the final build for my story of Lord Vladivus, and predominantly sets up what will hopefully be my storyline in Avalonia when the Book II challenges reach that guild. It also introduce Zurias, who is going to become a sort of nemesis for Vladivus. C+C welcome.
  12. That alternate build makes the set a lot more attractive.
  13. It's an initiative run by the Kaliphlin guild, it stands for the University of Petrea. It allows you to get a degree from the university if you complete certain things, such as showing mastery of certain building techniques. There's a thread further down I think.
  14. The Shadow Elves would fit the best in Nocturnus I think. Might be nice to save the others for when the story comes round to other guilds?
  15. Haha this is awesome! Live the aqueduct and story still has me laughing!
  16. This is awesome! I love th Viking feel; you've captured it brilliantly!
  17. I like the undead soldier, and the swamp. Varl looks pretty good too.
  18. I think you can build just for certain categories- they're there to encourage builders with all sorts of collection sizes to build.
  19. I did a micro build, but is don't know if I'll manage the whole thing at minifig scale. It's a bit too black, so I don't know if it would photograph well. Plus I'd need a fair amount of bricks.
  20. Those genie tails in the water are great! Nice story too! As SK said, nice start for us Nocturnians!
  21. I like that the base is the star fleet symbol! Nice MOC!
  22. Cheers guys! @Gunman I have a mother who teaches English, and I've always been encouraged to read, plus I do a lot of Teaching English as a Foreign Language, so I've picked up a few things along the way. I tend to steal other writers literary devices. Look at other peoples writing, and look for the bits that you like and/or stand out. Understanding a bit about how your favourite authors write goes a long way! @SK I was looking for a face to represent Vladivus when he was younger, and the mime face worked the best, as it looked sad/scared. Plus it was white.
  23. Read the intro thread, pick a guild, build a sig-fig and start building. Check the Book 2 Challenge 1 thread, which should inform you of the civil war sides for Nocturnus, one of the four guilds. Then start building again!
  24. I realised that it would be strange if such a small tree would be the same back then, as it is now. Plus, it helped to differentiate the scenes. You'll have to wait and see if the tree survives... ;)
