42054 - Claas Xerion 5000 Trac VC
M_longer replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Claas has motorized PTO in front and rear (which is weird, because real Xerion has it only on the back). -

8248 had scissor lift mechanism and was much sturdier than yours. Maybe consider some rebuilds? -

So maybe let the user who will get that set from LEGO write the reivew and take photos? -
Nah, I am not aggressive :) It is a way how I look at models, comparing it to real machines and sometimes trying to figure out what could be improved. I know that everyone would rather see comment like "great build, keep it going" etc, BUT I think that comment that suggests that something in the model can be improved is better than another empty praise.

Well, it seems that you have used for reference a model that was based on truck from that picture. Take a look: Which means that you still have cab with wrong proportions.

I have spent a week on trying to figure that out, sooo you know ;) Anyway, I have just printed a PDF and it did not crashed while processing the file.

It seems that I have found solution for this problem. In LDView Preferences I have set Memory usage to Low. And it works like it should, without any errors.

Rare Tires
M_longer replied to Richard Dower's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Keep in mind that white colour aquired in the process is not permanent. Pieces will turn yellowish again (bu it is counted in years, not days) Before putting in the hydrogen peroxide (2008): Result: After six years in the closed box (it started turning yellow again earlier): -

Because it helps in getting attention, you did not know that? Just open those files with Lpub and you will be able to build it. You can just click on the PDF generator icon, but If you will read about using that program, you will be able to generate instructions with steps. With my settings it looks like this: -

TLG should make them also in smaller size. It would trigger tractor building spree ;) -
Well, it has four motorized functions, which is less than 42009, but same as 42008. Three axle steering (which is a little wobbly due to using gears instead of gear racks and weight of the model) vs four axle steering in 42009. Outriggers are made in style of 8421 (and V6 fake engine is also powered by third axle), and the boom is raised by pneumatic cylinders like in 8460. But it has function that was not present in all this sets - turning the whole superstructure by knob on the back. I am struggling with Lpub & LDView right now, becuase it crashes almost at end of the editing :/ Which is very frustrating, because instruction is almost done :/

Love it. Perfect frame part for loaders: I have used it in my two loaders, considering using it in another articulated machine.

Yes, I have tried it. Crashes exactly on the same step (Windows 10). I have something that I call "working station" with Windows XP onboard, and it uses Lpub 4.0 and it worked without a problem so far. Each instruction I have made was created on it. But now it is not able to process files that were made from scratch (and worked) like my MAN TGS. It confuses me, because I did not changed anything in those programs since last use...
