Very nice shot. I remember thinking, way back when the first pics of the new Sandtroopers showed up, "Smokebelch is gonna have a field day with those guys!"

Looks very cool in real bricks! Reworked internal structure looks promising too.

They aren't very noticeable in the movies, they look more washed-out and might not be present on all X-Wings either, I'm not entirely sure.

Not to mention that, Special Edition onwards, Red 2 is everywhere anyway, that was the only digital model made.

It's quite clearly intended to be the ship Luke flew when attacking the first Death Star. Size-wise I'd guess it to be much the same size as 7191, the engines, cannon bases are the same diameters and the fuselage seems to be of similar width too. That's also what bothers me most about this thing (besides a somewhat clunky nose perhaps): The relative size of fuselage and engines seem a bit off, either the engines are too small, or the fuselage too wide and bulky.

The one thing I can remember from the top of my head is when I got the 4504 Millennium Falcon, some step from the instruction apparently couldn't actually be built that way (something around the cockpit, as I recall) and there was a little sheet of paper correcting the step, and the two or three different parts needed. The parts originally intended there were however also included.

News LEGO CREATOR 2013 News & Discussion
Commander_Rob replied to Wout's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Indeed I was. Even-numbered radials only work as diesels or two-stroke petrols. Excluding multi-row engines of course... Staying with that set, there's a couple more pictures on the FBTB Flickr stream. The tail seems a bit... off, somehow. -
LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Commander_Rob replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
First things first... HOT DAMN, they fixed the slopes on the gunship! That only took a decade or so. Anyways, the sets in order: Tank Droid: Agh, don't want to have to get another of those things, but that Jango... nigh-on perfect. And I like how Lego came up with the same piece for the guns as I did... Spider Droid(s): Good, better than the last ones anyway, the DSD especially. Duel on Geonosis: Set design looks sweet and so do the figures. That Dooku is spot-on. Stealth Starfighter: A black E-Wing in the CW era? What mockery is this? No, whoever came up with that. No. AT-TE: I'm not sure if it actually is but it looks even more right than the CW version. Could do with more clones though. The original one had four (and, admittedly, nothing else). Jabba's Barge: Proportions look off on this, though it might be less fragile than the old one in places. LAAT/i: So yes, liking it. Straighter lines on the fuselage and wings and the bubble canopies work well. Nice figs too, though more clones would be neat here, too. Mandalorian Speeder: I'm not quite on top of TCW at the moment, but the speeder and Mandos look decent. Still not fond of the "Maul survived" idea. Calendar: Better than last years effort, anyway. The venerable Scout trooper gets his first makeover. Another thing, I kinda like how Lego seeks to emulate the look of the massive DC-15 rifle by putting Technic pins on the blasters... but I'm afraid those clones will fall over a lot. I thought so too at first, but it would seem that's a bit back-to-front. Look at Jango here. It appears that with canon depictions of an unmasked adult Boba being few and far between (and perhaps with an eye on re-doing Jango in the near future), they modeled the face very much on him. The stubble is perhaps a bit more pronounced, but the scars around the eyes and on the forehead are right there. If anything, it stands to reason that despite being a clone, Boba should look a bit different. Edited to fix link. -

Those're great! And seeing as you used those stands, I now want a James Bond Collectable Minifigure Series... -

Hmmh, I don't know. Like most Lego planes, prop planes especially it looks just that bit wrong. Not to mention the eight-cylinder radial engine... But hey, just one image so far, maybe it'll turn out to look far better. -
New X-Wing. Long overdue and a massive step up from the previous iteration.

What're your favorite and least favorite Star Wars sets?
Commander_Rob replied to Loco de Lego's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'll get in the line for "there's so many" and I can't decide. Well though, some of my faves are the original LAAT and MTT, the 2004 and and 2012 X-Wings, the 2008 AT-TE, Obi-Wan's JSF from the Episode lI line, and of course the Death Star. If I had to single one set out as my absolute favourite... probably the the second-gen Millenium Falcon. -
I always thought the acronym for that was STAMP. Anyway, liking the colourings, liking the second better even, but since it'd only work as a sticker...

Like it, like it a lot. You captured the sleek shape very nicely and, with the inconclusive source material, great result. Working landing gear and folding wings are also very neat. I measured the thing out in LDD (by laying out some plates and counting studs ) and it comes out to about to 32 long, 45 span and 23 high, so pretty much spot on. Can't say I've got a better idea for the cockpit, the shaping is good, though it seems hard to access. As for stability and swooshing, I'd guess the side pods and wings should stand up to it, but the top fin connection seems fragile. In terms of colours, here's my wild stab in the dark (measuring rigs still in place), dark grey base, some red highlighting and black details.

Spotted the image on Brickshelf and suspected it was the Guide offices being abducted. Nicely done, like the exposed ground especially.

Post your general LEGO Star Wars questions here
Commander_Rob replied to XimenaPaulina's topic in LEGO Star Wars
The old, sand-green Jabba doesn't rotate at the head, the newer, printed one from the palace however does. Brickmamba's review has pics, note especially the disassembled Jabba in his bag early on. -
A UT-AT set would be pretty cool and the prototype doesn't look half bad. Throw in Commander Bacara, two or three marines and a non-CW Ki-Adi and we're good. But since Episode II will also be given the rerelease this year, and looking that image again, I hope some sets from that are in the cards too. l'd like that Hardcell-class transport there. And a re-done Delta-7 that finally does away with the lousy construction used so far and does the beautiful design justice.

Review: 75001 Republic Troopers vs. Sith Troopers
Commander_Rob replied to Oky's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Nice review, though I'm kind of divided on the set itself. The figures are nicely done, sure and speeder isn't all that bad, but especially with the hefty markup this side of the pond, it's not a lot for the money. I'll have to disagree. The Sith troopers are fairly non-Star Warsey, besides the Vader influences, but the Republic troopers could just as well be yet another Clone Trooper variant. Though I guess that's more an Old Republic issue than a Lego issue. -
I'd think the Lego Star Wars license is too profitable for either party to end it without good reason. And with Clone Wars still going, 3D releases of five films coming up and completely new ones on the horizon, it will probably remain so for the forseeable future.

7191 is far larger than minifig scale, see this image from Rufus's review for one. The set uses the regular R2, but that's out of scale, to the ship and to minifgs too. 9492, like most starfighters, is approximately minifig scale, though I think it's slightly too big. -
I have a bad feeling about this. Obvious references aside, I'm rather wary. This could turn out very good or not very good at all. One thing I'm sure of though is that I hope any new movies won't just completely override the existing EU.

LEGO Star Wars 2013 Pictures and Rumors
Commander_Rob replied to Erdbeereis's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Oh my, are they serious with those Droidekas? I swear, those are getting worse with every incarnation. The whole wave is... alright, I guess, but too Clone Wars-heavy. The only set I was considering getting previously was the A-Wing, but since it doesn't seem to be the sort of massive improvement over the last ones, I won't have to buy it. -
Excuse the smashing sound, that was my jaw hitting the floor. Absolutely astonishing in scale and detail, and really does justice to the sheer size of the real deal.
-
Very nice, I dig the differences in sweep between the wings and the wingtip engines. Looks like a cross between the classic Lambda shuttle and an airliner, could see it used as a luxury civilian shuttlecraft
-
There are a few sets I bought several of, mostly BPs and those mostly for the figs (though the Imperial Dropship is a very nice little ship, makes me wish now I had got more than two of it even), besides that, I've got two V-Wings from the 2006 line. I don't quite recall my reasoning for that though and one of them has been disassembled for ages. As for buying a second Skiff, if you're going to build a Pit of Carkoon diorama, I'd recommend it. It'll give you two identical skiffs to accurately recreate the scene and if Bricklink is any indication, selling the figs could get you half the price back. The only problem I could see is if a hypothetical new Sail Barge set comes with a skiff itself, like the last one did, though te design would likely be different to the current set.
