[AoM Barracks Phase II] The First Trial
Dragonfire replied to Dragonfire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Thanks -
In the farthest corner of Nocturnus, in a desolate, barren clump of rocks, a wooden tower stretched just over the horizon, visible to all near and far, but seemingly impassable. Two Drow soldiers stood guard at the base of this structure - well, not exactly stood guard! They lay slumped against the rocks, bottles clutched in their hands, drunken and tired. When Berelan Gryffen, lord of the Mitgardian county of Stormhold, opened his eyes, he didn't know where he was. His last memory was of a far-away Avalonian outpost, of a fierce battle between the Drow and the local soldiers. Now he was lying on a bare, earthy floor, his clothes in tatters and chains around his hands. Weakly, he struggled into a sitting position... and then he realised he wasn't alone in the cell... A Tigris, by the looks of it - part human, part feline in appearance, with a mane of black hair and its teeth bared in a grimace. As Berelan raised his head, the creature's eyes narrowed, "So you're finally awake. Been waiting two weeks for this..." Berelan managed to gasp, "I mean you no harm..." but was met with a harsh, gravelly laugh from the Tigris, "I'm not going to hurt you, ekshalar. You'd better thank me, because I could've escaped two weeks ago, when I broke the clasp on my chains. But I couldn't leave you here- those vhhskarn would have made you suffer for my escape. Who are you, and where are you from?" Somewhat relieved but still wary, Berelan replied, "I'm from Mitgardia... my name's Berelan. You?" Without replying, the Tigris moved over to Berelan's chains and yanked them out of the wall with a contemptuously little amount of force, "Them Black Spire vhhskarn don't know what they're in for. I'll bet they've never even seen a Tigris before. Name's Tskerr, by the way. I'm with the Nocturnus Resistance. Now let's get a move on - I'm sick of this place!" Drunkenly, one of the Drow guards rose to check on the prisoners. They'd been paid a lot by a cloaked stranger calling himself Xaris to do this, and they'd spent the money on fine Nocturnian liquor. This turned out to be his undoing. As the guard stumbled along the path, he noticed a blurry, reddish-brown shape leaping from rock to rock, a length of chains swinging from its hand... Tskerr suddenly leapt at the guard, crushing him to the ground with brute strength. Berelan, emerging from behind a rock, saw the second guard draw his sword and advance on the oblivious Tigris... ...so he grabbed a conveniently nearby scorpion and threw it at the Drow! Pleased with their handiwork, the two escapees proceeded to don the guards' clothes, passing as Black Spire enforcers to all who met them. Time was of the essence - the resistance was growing and soon things would come to a brutal and bloody head.... [sorry for the lengthy story; C&C welcome!]

Barracks Phase II -
With all the villagers trained in basic sparring, Crynis moved on to the next step: training with real weapons. Each man or woman chose their preferred weapon from a pile amassed by the mercenaries Crynis had hired. Ragnor, the mercenaries' leader, personally oversaw each mock duel and gave the villagers important tips which would most probably one day save their lives. Now Crynis and Ragnor looked on as two such villagers began their first trial by combat. Truff the woodcutter, armed with a shortsword, and the fisherman Larne, wielding the spear he used to ply his trade. The two combatants circled each other, looking for weaknesses in the other's defense... Suddenly, Truff lunged without warning, striking at Larne's unprotected side with his sword. But the fisherman, instead of blocking the blow, leaned backwards, evading the woodcutter's strike. Truff, off balance, lost his footing and stumbled just as Larne brought the spear down on his back. He crumpled to the ground, defeated. As the victor helped his opponent to his feet, Ragnor approached the pair. Nodding gruffly to Larne, he addressed the woodcutter: "You're strong, and fast too, but you shouldn't rush into attacks. Be wary of your opponent's moves. And Larne, your trick worked this time, but you'll need to perfect it for it to work in real combat. Well done, both of you." Crynis watched, feeling a sense of pride. Her fervent dream was slowly but surely becoming a reality... Figless: C&C welcome!

SHIELD vs. HYDRA Mafia - Day 2
Dragonfire replied to mediumsnowman's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
As Alyssa has said, there doesn't always have to be a third party. Take The Second Crash Mafia for instance - there was no third party in that game although it said it in the rules and JJP hinted at it. There's always more than one scum. Usually there'd be three or four in a game this size - three if there's a SK and four if there isn't. I don't want this to turn into a pedantic argument about how many scum there are, but equally you shouldn't underestimate scum numbers. Since you've never played before, I'll give you some advice: while scum can be "caught" due to behaviour (ie. defending a teammate / not voting for them etc.), a SK has no teammates and therefore cannot be "caught" the same way. Scumtells exist; SK tells do not. Therefore if there is a SK, we'll only be able to work out who it is through process of elimination once a few more people have died (or due to PR results). -

SHIELD vs. HYDRA Mafia - Day 2
Dragonfire replied to mediumsnowman's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
No, what I'm saying is that the doctor should just generally get in contact with their protectee at some point soon, so that they can start talking, and maybe claim at some later point in the game. Was it you who gave me the pineapple? -
SHIELD vs. HYDRA Mafia - Day 2
Dragonfire replied to mediumsnowman's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Yeah, that was me I'd say quite a few more than 3 suspected him - only 3 voted for him in the end. Plus he was a newer player - I can't see why the scum would have seen him as a threat. -

I think you're misinterpreting what I said. I suggested that the doctor should get in contact with the person they protected, not necessarily claim to them yet. And why would the scum kill Kinjobby? Surely a far better plan would have been to kill someone who wasn't suspected and then push Kinjobby's lynch today? That's partially my fault, I'm afraid I switched votes to Kinjobby late in the day, not seeing that we didn't have much time left. When I logged in again the day had ended. Had I kept my vote on Steven, he'd have been lynched. There were also seven others who didn't vote for Schram, some of whom were online at the end of the day and could have hammered him... -
SHIELD vs. HYDRA Mafia - Day 2
Dragonfire replied to mediumsnowman's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
A very interesting choice of kill. I'm going to speculate that the scum were blocked/target protected and the vig killed Kinjobby - it doesn't make sense for the scum to night-kill someone who was widely suspected and would have been a prime lynch candidate for today.... To echo Cecilia's comment, if you're a doctor, I'd suggest you get in contact with the person you protected last night, as chances are, you saved them from a kill. If you're a blocker, then it's a bit trickier, but whatever you do, don't come out in-thread and claim. This goes for all power roles. -
SHIELD vs. HYDRA Mafia - Day 1
Dragonfire replied to mediumsnowman's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
No, you're really not. Do you suspect me or not? Thanks sooo much for that, you've just increased your scumminess hugely and warranted my vote. Unvote: Steven Schram (Khscarymovie4) Vote: Kinjobby O'Laughlin (Junior Shark) Agreed, it does. Whether it is or not is all WIFOM, mate (although you can take my word for it that it's not, whatever that counts for!) Way to bandwagon. That's how you got by last game too, quietly bandwagoning. Care to offer anything more substantial to the discussion? -

SHIELD vs. HYDRA Mafia - Day 1
Dragonfire replied to mediumsnowman's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Revenge voting, now are we? I'm really not sure what to feel about Mr. Schram. He's the scummiest out of everyone, which is why I'm keeping my vote on him, but newbies often are scummy and I'm worried it might be simply down to him being inexperienced and not necessarily him being HYDRA. However, I've written off newbies as "newbies" before in the past and it's come back to bite me; newbie scum can essentially fly under the radar by playing the n00b card. Essentially, Mr. Schram is going to be very hard to read if this behaviour continues later into the game, and at some point we're going to have to stop making allowances for newbie behaviour. Which is why I think we may as well lynch him today so as not to have to worry about him later on in the game... How about the votes on Jasper? Arguably more suspicious, since Jasper made a mistake, unlike Steven who is legitimately acting scummy. And you haven't mentioned Steven's own vote on Eugene, which is even worse. I also find this worrying. You spend the whole post suspecting Steven, but you don't vote for him, mentioning the bandwagon as your reason. This almost seems as if someone behind the scenes has told you that you should make a post suspecting Steven so that you can use that as a reason for voting him later in the day, and with the added bonus of you not being seen as a bandwagoner. I've done this in the past as scum, and I can see it here. Why the unvote? You've never said any reasons for thinking Jasper is town.... this really looks like a "springboard" post for a later vote on Steven. -

My quietness is due to timezone issues. On weekdays, I'm only able to post every 24 hours, and usually all my posts amalgamate into one large post. I'll be more active at the weekends Steven, your unvote has made me doubly suspicious of you... -

Avalanche begins to nod, "Good idea. Let's start training now. Afterwards, why don't you take half the able-bodied villagers and start work on the barricades, while Traci and Jackson begin training the others on the ships." -
SHIELD vs. HYDRA Mafia - Day 1
Dragonfire replied to mediumsnowman's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I see this as quite scummy, although you haven't been here for long. You're not only jumping on the bandwagon of a person with four votes already, but you're saying he's scum because he edited his post  Scum aren't suicidal. And you're also basing your suspicion off his character flavour, which is obviously not alignment indicative. Vote: Steven Schram (Khscarymovie4) I almost voted for Jasper, but the bandwagon on him is worrying me due to the speed at which it has developed. In my opinion the only scummy thing Jasper has done was the original calling out of Eugene for editing his post, alerting Mr. Fury's attention to it. The subsequent vote for Eugene is too odd to be scummy - town or scum, it is most likely a mistake. Mr. Bartell and Mr. O'Laughlin, please justify your votes on Mr.Heinz. -

"Kick you out" doesn't mean "lynch you". I never said I thought you were HYDRA, I just said you shouldn't be here. Do you need glasses, pizza guy? -

I just had a disturbing thought... if Jafar is one of the traitors, he could just poison us all and be done with it You sound oddly unsure of which side you're on. If you don't know what either us or HYDRA is, are you even meant to be here? Shouldn't we just kick you out? Way to draw attention to it... almost as if you wanted the host to notice so that he'd get penalty votes Ah, but you see, werewolves aren't necessarily members of HYDRA, are they? -

Avalanche nods slowly, "One hundred would be fine. They can first build the barricade, then train with simple weapons if time allows it." "So... you'd rather leave the village and its inhabitants absolutely defenceless on the off-chance that you can predict the raiders' actions?"
