Age of Mitgardia (free-build-challenge)
MKJoshA replied to Ecclesiastes's topic in Guilds of Historica
Tower Phase II: Inn Phase I: *EDITED* (another entry) Mill Phase I: -
See the previous tales: Wyndor's Saga: Chapter 1 -What Has Past- Chapter 2 Part 10: A New Home Part 10.1:Blunted Edges Part 10.2: Cramped Spaces Part 10.3: Enthusiastic Worker Part 11.0 Part 11: Mysterious Death Part 12: Dark Meetings Since nights were almost always cold in Dålig Ulv the town watch had long ago set up stations at all of gates along the wall guarding the city where guards could warm up before heading into the cold. Each of these stations had rooms set up within the wall where the guards could grab a drink to warm their spirits before standing watch for long hours in the brisk air. Each keg was full with 2 parts water and 1 part wine. This was to prevent the guards from being drunk while on duty. The leader of each watch was tasked with monitoring how many cups each guard had had and was quick to punish those who had one too many. When the guards behaved these spots were often a place for gossip between shifts. Tonight Ralf was there in-between shifts so there wasn’t anyone to share a drink with him. The other guards at the gate knew Lief was paying Ralf off, though for what none of them knew not even Ralf. While Lief had bribed Ralf well, he did not bribe him well enough to keep the information to himself after he had had a drink or two. Some of the other guards were jealous they were not in Ralf’s shoes, but others were just biding their time until they could report this suspicious activity to the right person.

So, putting them underneath the base of the mill? Obviously you couldn't just replace the horns with these tiles and have the tiles sticking up in the air. If they were under the base of the mill that would only add a red base colors but I suppose you could add some 1x1 round plates.

I saw this on flickr last night and am very glad to see it already attached to a story! I'm looking forward to this upcoming challenge. It's going to be great to see other's take on Mitgardia. -
I really like the disjointed base. Adds a great feel. And that dino is awesome!

Great job, and great use of your Piece!

Sorry for the double post, but I've updated this entry and thought you all would like to know

Age of Mitgardia - Stables Phase 2 - Muninn Ranch
MKJoshA replied to mccoyed's topic in Guilds of Historica
Wow! So many great details! I love the inside of the house. The horn and shield on the wall give this a very rustic-Viking feel which is perfect for Mitgardia! The little girl make snow, the father feeding the Chocobo Gysahl Greens, and the various chocobos in different stages of age are also amazing! One thing I would improve on is the roof. You were probably going for the ramshackle look, but I think it looks more incomplete than anything else. But overall this is a stunning build! -
Thanks Vlad! Nowhere near as menacing as yours, but I had fun with it! Thanks! Well, I really like your big version. Thanks Infernum! Thanks for the link! I've never seen Avatar so I'm glad you jumped in with that one! To each his own I really like the cartoony feel, but I know it's not for everyone. I guess you could say that they are so big because they are so blind!

Ouch, talk about the wounds of a friend. But really, you are right. I went too fast on this one. I've already posted phase 2 because I hadn't read this before doing so, but if it's okay I will rebuild this today and post some better pictures in this topic. ThanksI I'm glad you like the minifig and you can see from my response to Kabel that I agree about the tree. I will amend my hurriedness soon!

It was pretty sturdy. The front flaps made out of the Sarlac pieces were a little flimsy, but the rest was solid.

Thanks Markus, I'm glad you like it

They are indeed Friends parts. I'm following the Mitgardian trend of picking up some Friends sets. I really like some of them as parts packs. You can actually see the storage room here. Thanks Damaximus! I will strive to More builds coming later today!

This is a great first MOC! Great forced perspective and I think your build has just the right amount of details. The lighting isn't perfect, but for your first, it's pretty darn good.

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
MKJoshA replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Oh wow. Every other post is by Behemoth! I'm glad to see your first build though! I think this needs to be sticky-ed somewhere. This is an incredibly useful list. I've come to learn these truths the hard way, through much Bricklink ordering and then ordering again after realizing I really needed more pieces and more plates! Thanks for putting this together Gabe. I hope it helps some of the new members. -
With the armor and the name "Stark" I was also thinking of Iron Man. (walks away humming Iron Man theme music...)

I think you did well with what you had to work with because you're right. 1x1s would be blocky. I guess you could have poored actual grape juice on the build, but I'm sure that wouldn't be your first choice for an alternative to the horns

I thought they had only covered the first 2 movies in the first Hobbit game, no? Doesn't that preclude that they have to make a 2nd Hobbit game? Kinda like they did for Indiana Jones.

See the previous tales: Wyndor's Saga: Chapter 1 -What Has Past- Chapter 2 Part 10: A New Home Part 10.1:Blunted Edges Part 10.2: Cramped Spaces Part 10.3: Enthusiastic Worker Part 11.0 Part 11: Mysterious Death It was nearing the end of Summer in Dalig Ulv which meant that the light frost that came in the mornings started to stay longer in the areas that got less sunlight than others. Mitgardians were used to seeing snow 80% of year. The town watch of Dalig Ulv stayed well covered when they were on shift. This was a particularly cold evening and it was just beginning. So when the guard was told to take a break for an hour and was slipped a few coins. He didn't ask any questions. He wouldn't have needed to ask questions anyway since this wasn't the first time that Lief had bribed him to give him a few uninterrupted hours in the watchtower by himself. Lief waited till the guard was on his way back to the city wall before settling in to wait for his visitor. He didn't have to wait long until the hooded woman hoisted herself up into the tower. "I grow tired of waiting!" said Lief through his teeth. "Patience sir. The time has almost come. Each day we draw closer to unleashing the Tri-Council on Mitgardia" answered the woman. "You are starting to get sloppy" said Lief. "Pjeter and Wyndor found some of your handiwork near Treacleheim." "Do not worry yourselves with our business" replied the woman. "Continue to supply us with gold and the items we request, and we will take care of the rest. You will not have to worry about anyone else standing in your way for much longer."

Wow! I'm already pulled into your story. Keep it coming!

Here is my Mount Up entry: And an AoM build: -
Well thanks guys. I do have more pieces to make it taller, but I wanted it to be short to make the picture look better/be easier to take And since it's a phase 1 I figured it'd work. I already have phase 2 done, but I'm waiting to make sure I "pass" before posting it.

That trunk! First you use guns for trees, and now cannons for trunks! Amazing! A agree that the bow-legs look awkward, but it's not too bad.
