  1. "In my, admittedly limited, experience with you, you seem to claim everything to be a part of your plan after the fact. It seems a greater likelihood the universe is more outside your realm of control than you would care to admit, than this elaborate plan where you constantly destroy your own allies. I do look forward to seeing the total sum of this plan though in the event that I am mistaken." Jeaux poured one of his phoenix essences into the hollow compartment on his handcannon and applied the Crimson Haze to the weapon.
  2. "Why invite us to your citadel and then deny us entrance? You continue to taunt Heroica Hall and ask for someone to challenge you, but when that challenge is answered you send a puppet instead. I have to say, I find your behavior quite puzzling."
  3. Jeaux grabs his briefcase and slings the handcannon around his shoulder as he exits the room, following Erdathcath up to the top deck.
  4. "I have to decline your offer as well. I've had enough exposure to liquids for the moment." Jeaux was wiping down some of his metal joints, the salty spray from the ocean had been causing a light coating of rust to build through-out the voyage and he wanted to make sure it would not impair his ability to fight if necessary once the ship docked tomorrow.
  5. "Perhaps, if it was the regret that killed them then it is our own fortune. If it was not, then we may be facing a greater adversary than the three monsters would have posed."
  6. "I can't say I understand it, but I am willing to accept it for the moment."
  7. Thank you for the multiple replies I had a feeling there was something I was missing and it was bugging me.
  8. Out of curiosity, is there a reason people keep spelling hell with one l? I've noticed that spelling in Boomingham's speech far too many times for it to be a simple typo.
  9. OOC: Drat, forgot about the letter. Though I still think the image would have probably sparked a reaction so Eh "He once threatened your life and now he's your husband? It would appear there is far more to 'Masson' than I previously realized" For all that Jeaux thought he had lost, he was beginning to wonder if he might be better off without the irrational pull of such organic emotions. "You seemed quite capable of leading during our previous quest together. I have no objections to you taking on the role in an official capacity" "I should be able to make use of that" Jeaux takes the ruby from Karie and deposits it in his briefcase "I am ready to depart as well. We shall do what we can to stop the regret."
  10. Jeaux looked at Em. He had the same knowledge of the Stealer of Senses as Jeaux and still seemed to trust him now. He shouldered the handcannon and turned to Em, "You have been a loyal member of Heroica for as long as I have, and if you trust him then I will as well." Jeaux gave one more glance towards Masson, he wasn't sure what could have caused the man to turn over a new leaf but Johon was right. Doubt and suspicion would threaten the success of the mission.
  11. Jeaux grabs his hand-cannon upon seeing Masson. He recognized the purple robes and hood from the man who had threatened Karie, Em, and himself on their first quest for Heroica. "What are you doing here?"
  12. Jeaux approaches the group and nods to the veteran to indicate he is listening.
  13. Three years is truly an accomplishment. It says a lot about the quality of the game, and the people dedicated to supporting it.
  14. After hearing the rousing words from one of Heroica's veterans, Jeaux signs his name for the lottery.
  15. Given there are a couple of poisons that are now applied permanently (Crimson Haze and Everlasting Venom, as 2 examples), what happens if multiple poisons are applied to the same weapon? Do the effects stack as a normal poison would, or does the effects of one replace the other?
  16. Not really, since it is 10% of the maximum HP and the maximum HP decreases each turn. So the prior example would be Round 1 Enemy Cursed 125 Damage Dealt Enemy Uggo McCoy *Cursed* 875/900 Round 2 Enemy Cursed 65 Damage Dealt Enemy Uggo McCoy *Cursed* 810/810 Round 3 Enemy Cursed 99 Damage Dealt Enemy Uggo McCoy *Cursed* 711/729 As the enemies max health decreases, cursed becomes less effective.
  17. Does cursed affect the current health or the maximum health? If it affects the current health, then that is pretty powerful, if it affects the maximum health then it will have diminishing returns and it will only effect the current HP if it is greater than 90% of the maximum health. Also, if it does affect the current health then perhaps the character loses 10% of the current health as it would maintain diminishing returns each round.
  18. No you read them right
  19. If I understand the rules correctly, then 6645 would be a winning combination since the player passed 4 rounds without 1-3 or a second 4 or 5. If that is the case then the odds are around 1/62 for winning the die. Considering that, winning in 40 games isn't too unreasonable.
  20. It changes from location to location, but for the most part there is always a minimum payback required for the jurisdiction. If I recall correctly, Nevada has an 80% minimum payback on slots with an exception made for classic mechanical slots. There's also laws on the minimum odds for the top advertised prize, usually somewhere around 25 or 35 million to one. Considering the first gambling game in Heroica was Triple Magic with a payback of 50%, I think rigged games are an element of the world. Also, I ran the numbers when B&P originally posted the game and I calculated the average cost of the loaded die around 1312.04 with an average of 142 games to win the die, and winning 5 gold in about 22 of those 142. I had originally misunderstood the rules (I thought a 4 & 5 would fail when it actually doesn't) and the true odds are more likely than that.
  21. Jeaux wandered into the marketplace to prepare for his upcoming reunion with the regret. He stopped by Portia's first to buy a couple phoenix essences. He then headed to Anywl's smith shop to sell Eminus and upgrade his handcannon to WP 13. Finally, he made one last stop at Fabian's where he sold the Ranger's quiver he had bought so long ago and bought a pair of spellbound gloves 2x Phoenix Essence 100 Gold Portia Total 100 Gold -Eminus -25 Gold WP 12 upgrade 120 Gold WP 13 upgrade 130 Gold Anwyl Total 225 Gold -Ranger's Quiver -10 Gold Spellbound Gloves 100 Gold Fabian Total 90 Gold Starting Gold 710 Gold Total Expense 415 Gold Remaining Gold 295 Gold
  22. Jeaux looked around the hall trying to determine who could have placed the note in his briefcase. It sounded like the author was in dire straights and needed assistance from members of Heroica. As desperate as he was to find the answer to what he was missing, he had made a decision to serve Heroica and he could not turn away from that commitment. He approached the quest board and found a notice regarding another letter from this mysterious scribe. It sounded like they needed assistance urgently; however the requester had chosen to wait a full week for responses, hopefully they are not all dead when the heroes finally arrive. Jeaux signed his name on the list for 108.
  23. Jeaux had been sitting quietly in a corner of the hall. He did not feel any great desire to embark on another quest at the moment, but upon seeing the progg pupae enter and Punii sign his name on the quest board, he decided to take a look. The regret is inviting Heroes into a trap? I can understand a deceptive posting to bait a trap Jeaux thought, remembering his first quest for the guild. But to blatantly tell the heroes it's a trap seems indicative of overconfidence. Jeaux had little desire to meet the Regret again, and if the last encounter was any indication, he had little hope of stopping the creature, but the Regret likely held the only means to make Jeaux human again. As much as he had tried to accept his current form he still felt like a part of himself was missing, trying to fill his life with purpose was doing little to fill the void, and this thing may hold the answer. Jeaux signed his name under Quest 105 before returning to the corner to think.
  24. Jeaux accepted the money and walked away without saying anymore. He had accomplished his goal, but for some reason he could not explain it did not feel like he had fulfilled his purpose. Heroica was meant to be an organization that tried to make the world a better place, yet they had just helped a couple of bigoted individuals destroy a new race that held untold potential. He had tried to fulfill his objective without their unnecessary destruction, but they seemed intent on forcing his hand. Nothing about this quest sat right with him, and he wanted to leave as quickly as he could.
  25. "The U'kin is, or rather was Dr. U'Reeka. As our companion Em has stated, the current threat has been eliminated as requested."
