  1. OOC:Just to reiterate, if we don't kill the Husk this round, he will revert back to the shade with 415 HP. If Em, Hybros and I all use grand potions we will deal 100 damage. Add on the max damage pretzel can heal with the staff and you are looking at 143 damage, not enough to kill the creature. The only strategy I can see that has any hope of success is to use the grand flail to cause fragile and then 3 grand potions to kill it (25*2*3 = 150). If the creature is not fragile, there is no reason to waste a consumable on it, Unless I am mis-interpreting something. "I worry we may not have enough time to try healing him using traditional means, given the condition of our employer and his associate."
  2. "If I understand this creature correctly, it can only be harmed by a true light weapon (One that is light elemental only), which none of us have or by healing the beast. I doubt we have enough potions to kill it quickly without first weakening it" OOC: If we want to kill it in one round, the only way I can see to do so is if Pretzel hits it with the heavy flail causing fragile and then Hybros, Em, and or Jeaux use Grand Potions on it. Hybros could use a Nostrum on Pretzel first to try and increase his chances of hitting the shade, though that would also increase his chances of using guardian angel which wouldn't help us much.
  3. OOC: No counter-strikes? "Soryx, see if you finish him off." Jeaux continues watch the battle unfold patiently.
  4. Battle Order >Pretzel heals Soryx Soryx does nothing Em does nothing Jeaux does nothing Hybros does nothing Hybros does nothing
  5. "Monk, think you can hold off the shade while making another attempt at healing Soryx?" Jeaux does nothing (in the back row)
  6. Battle Order Soryx vs Shade Hybros vs Shade Hybros vs Shade >Jeaux vs Shade >Em vs Shade Pretzel vs Shade
  7. Jeaux watched as an unclothed woman appeared in front of the party. Given the fear and distrust the monk seemed to have of magic use, it was surprising to Jeaux that he would be capable of summoning magic. It was doubly unexpected that the magical construct would take a form with so little inhibition. Perhaps there is more to this monk than I realized, Jeaux thought quietly to himself. As the woman seemed to be holding back the dark energy of the shade for the moment, Jeaux fired a round from his handcannon at the creature from the back row. OOC: Will post the battle order after Pretzel posts, or 24 hours rolls around
  8. Battle Order >Pretzel heals Soryx Soryx does nothing Em does nothing Jeaux does nothing Hybros does RP stuff (nothing) Hybros does RP stuff (nothing)
  9. Battle Order >Monk Pretzel heals Hybros Soryx equips frost helmet Em does nothing Jeaux does nothing Hybros does nothing Hybros does nothing OOC: and to speed things up a bit. The next round, if Pretzel doesn't roll guardian angel, plus auto roll until a damage or special damage is rolled. Battle Order >Monk Pretzel does nothing Soryx vs Shade Em does nothing Jeaux does nothing Hybros does nothing Hybros does nothing
  10. One minor math correction if # of "Effective Against" > or = # of "Doesn't Affect" then a = 2^(# of "Effective Against" - # of "Doesn't Affect") if # of "Effective Against" < # of "Doesn't Affect" then a = 0 3 effective elements is an 8x multiplier, not a 6x one.
  11. OOC: Yep, the counter-strike gloves were changed to that here. I'll post the battle order once I get an action from Pretzel (or the 24 hour mark rolls around). Healing (with a chance for guardian angel) or doing nothing (and save the ether) are both decent actions to take.
  12. "It's worth a shot I suppose.", Jeaux tries to speak to the shadowy creature, <"What is your name shadow?"> OOC: At least running the next two rounds makes sense. Pretzel can also attack with reasonable risk, so he could attack as well with hope for a guardian angel.
  13. Battle Order >Monk Pretzel does nothing >Hybros revives Em >Em passes frost helmet to Soryx >Soryx receives helment >Jeaux does nothing >Hybros does nothing
  14. "That is a distinct possibility" "While that may be a fairly safe approach to take, it will take a considerable amount of time and those who were possessed may wake up or their condition may deteriorate. Perhaps you could attempt to seal the shade and prevent it from using the darkness like it did against Em earlier. If Hybros could blind it as well, then we can destroy it far more quickly."
  15. Seeing the rest of the party focused on the Baron, Jeaux aims his handcannon once more at Gnome C, firing from the back row. Soryx gauges the baron's vitality before deciding whom to attack. If the baron's HP is above 120 Soryx attacks the Baron and Gnome C, otherwise he attacks Gnome C and the Shade. Battle Order Em Hybros Hybros Soryx Jeaux Monk Pretzel
  16. Battle Order >Monk Pretzel switch Strategist Shako with Magic Viper Skin Soryx vs Baron (+Baron) (using dual Axes) >Jeaux vs Baron >Em vs Baron >Hybros uses Grand Potion Hybros vs Gnome C
  17. No kidding, a lot of her character development took place in the Hall thread, outside any quest. Here it is, I didn't so much focus on the facts and events, but more the character and how she has been role played so far. There's probably a decent bit of speculation and interpretation, and I could be wrong about much of it. Karie (Kintobor) Karie is a character that has evolved as a direct result of the circumstances around her. From locating a long lost sister, to a love affair that somewhat borders on stockholm syndrome. Rather than choosing a direction up front and forcing that change in spite of what occurs, the intended direction of the character has meshed quite well with the unexpected events from the various quests, NPCs, and PCs she has met. There is a fairly in depth back-story which has been slowly revealing itself through various cut scenes and revelations, but even while shifting the perspective to focus on Karie it does not completely eclipse the other characters on the stage. Character-wise, Karie is a quick witted thief who has little fear of the various vices life has to offer. She seems to enjoy being lusted after and has used her feminine charms on multiple occasions. She has a history with drug abuse, not unlike her ancient ancestor Sorrow, though that addiction does not seem to dissuade her from partaking in other forms of chemical entertainment. She appears to have no problem stealing from others, working as a pick pocket for a while and attempting to steal from the marketplace and Guts. She also has a love for music and dancing, with experience performing for others in the past though while she seems to enjoy it, those memories are not happy ones. There is a lot more to the character, and I'm still sure what the deal is with the mustached flashback character, but I definitely consider Karie a character worth following in the Heroica story.
  18. "You are not taking orders from my ... creator I suppose is the word that fits best. You are taking them from me. Without a leader, there is no structure leading to chaos and confusion. I have been selected to fulfill the role of leader so that is what I shall do. I commend you on your past success, but the past would do little to protect you from a mistake in the present." "Not really. You would need multiple test subjects who have already been possessed to learn how to exorcise the possessor. It seems only logical the best way to accomplish that would be to first learn how to possess those subjects."
  19. A decent point. I've started a write-up for Karie, but I'll probably do a bit more research to make sure I capture the character properly.
  20. OOC: Monk Pretzel was in the front row, so he should have taken and dealt 28 damage. "You would attack a fellow party member without bothering to think twice on the matter? That sort of rash decision making is likely to fail the mission and endanger everyone who is working alongside you. Soryx, think you can take care of the baron without killing him?" Jeaux loaded another round into the handcannon, staring down the baron through the weapons sight from the back row OOC: If my math is correct, the max damage Soryx can do to the Baron is 258, leaving him with 77 HP. Em and/or Jeaux should then be able to whittle him down to below 50 barring 2 more special damage rolls.
  21. "As long as he is possessed by this energy, he is not the man who hired us. I will do what I can to avoid killing him since doing so would be killing our employer as well, but if we are to release him from whatever hold the darkness has, we must not hold back in this battle."
  22. OOC: Given the lack of a response in the rules thread, I'll just switch the action this round. Battle Order >Em vs Baron Monk Pretzel Heals Hybros >Jeaux vs Baron >Hybros passes Dastan Dual Axes to Soryx Hybros vs Baron (+ Baron) Soryx receives both items
  23. Took a little while to find the quotes I was remembering, but here they are. This is in reference to 1 character trading with 1 character. There is no mention regarding 1 character receiving items from 2 characters in the same turn.
  24. OOC: I seem to recall multiple items can be traded in one turn as well, so it makes sense to take advantage of that. Battle Order >Em passes Frost Helm to Soryx Monk Pretzel Heals Hybros >Jeaux vs Baron >Hybros passes Dastan Dual Axes to Soryx Hybros vs Baron (+ Baron) Soryx receives both items
  25. OOC: Actually, the baron still needs to use Gnome of the People before his special will deal more damage. We could take advantage of the current opportunity to strike him since he can't deal damage thanks to blinded, While letting Em and Pretzel take the free hits. Jeaux aims a shot at the baron from the back row
