  1. "From what little I know, constellations such as these are used to help people identify points in the sky and use those points as landmarks for navigation. It's possible the regret is familiarizing himself with these constellations for when he embarks on his mission of global destruction, since getting lost while traveling from location to location would likely slow his progress considerably." Jeaux touches one of the glowing lamps to see if he can determine what was used to construct them.
  2. "West seems like a reasonable option to me."
  3. "I am only looking to maximize our chances of success, but if our party leader believes you to be a useful asset, than I will defer to his judgement." Jeaux took a closer look at the toxic substance from the trees, "We may be able to utilize this venom to help in our fight ahead."
  4. "If you ran and hid when your companions were attacked than you will likely be of little use to us. We are here to destroy the master of this citadel and we cannot afford to waste resources or effort trying to protect someone who cannot take care of herself." Jeaux spoke with a straight forward tone that depicted no malice or anger, but rather a simple lack of compassion. "Though that invisibility cloak could prove to be useful up ahead if you are willing to part with it."
  5. "Provoking a fight with those guarding the citadel, might draw more attention our way. The treasure hunters may be getting slaughtered, but they are keeping at least a portion of the citadel's defenses occupied and distant from our destination." As he said this, Jeaux closed off his sight to better discern the origin of the female's voice in the event that she spoke again.
  6. Fat chance is most often said using a sarcastic tone giving it the same meaning as slim chance even though the actual language is the polar opposite. It's similar to when someone says "I could care less", that phrase is supposed to be said with a sarcastic inflection as what they truly mean is "I couldn't care less".
  7. "The regret's desire to die would explain much of his seemingly irrational behavior. Though I agree with my companions regarding the usefulness of this information. His seems far more intent on destroying everything else in this world than destroying himself, and there is little we could do to change his mind in this area."
  8. Nilrem continues his attack on the progg executioner while Jeaux casts a light spell at Pyroloid B
  9. Nilrem strikes Executioner B once more just before Jeaux casts a holy spell at Pyroloid A from the back row EDIT: Added Nilrem's action
  10. OOC: Everyone is targeting a different enemy, at the moment Pyroloid B (assuming Erdathcath doesn't roll a shield) and Executioner B are the only untargeted enemies. "No need, for my cleansing power shall wipe these foul creatures from this plane. Leaving nothing more than a pleasant lemon smell in thou's place"
  11. Light envelops the battlefield as Jeaux casts his spell. When the light wanes a giant figure stands next to the party. His shield larger than a horse and a blade the length of two full grown men. "Perish Demons, for I shall smite thee with thy holy blade of smiting!" Nilrem, leaps toward the remaining progg executioner bringing his blade down with a holy vengeance. just before Jeaux casts another holy spell at Doppel A from the back row
  12. Jeaux casts a darkness spell at Doppel A from the back row
  13. Jeaux casts a second darkness spell at Doppel B this time from the back row
  14. OOC: I'm pretty sure punii is referring to the fact that Muckraker has a 4x multiplier since fiery enemies are weak to both water and earth. "Boomingham makes a fair point, and it should not easily be dismissed. Though I can understand one attempting to fulfill their purpose, and bear no ill will towards you for doing so." Jeaux withdrew the Amethyst from his suitcase firing a spell of darkness at Karie's double (Doppel A) from the back row.
  15. "We've already defeated Seerus, and I doubt any of you would have presented much of a challenge for him. If you insist on getting in our way than we will be forced to exterminate you as well."
  16. "I am no longer an organic being, the process that placed me in this form seemed to have damaged a part of my soul. As far as I can tell, the less I cling to what I once was, the less those sorts of emotions ... have a hold over me." Jeaux paused in his explanation, not entirely sure of its accuracy given the Regret's words and what he was currently feeling. Jeaux looked at Karie for a moment to analyze her state of mind. The Regret had a powerful influence, and his ability to speak through one's own thoughts could turn someone against their allies, especially if he were able to play on their inner most desires or emotions. This he knew from personal experience. "That should not be a problem."
  17. Jeaux saw his party starting to fall apart at the seams. Em, or Mortimer as Seerus had called him, had lost his mind to rage and Karie had lost hers to grief. He watches the scene unfold, as still as his body had once been before he took up residence.
  18. People memorize all of the classes? I figured you would just have a page open to the training room or wiki for reference, especially with classes like artisan or alchemist. It does add 9 weather effects (1 for each gem so it's pretty easy to remember them), and a shield ability with 9 variations (compared to artisan's 6 or the alchemists 21). It doesn't seem too complicated to me, though I love logic and math so I'm probably not the best evaluater for what is or is not too complicated .
  19. Jeaux casts a light spell at Seerus from the back row
  20. "If you have the means to remedy that poison, you should probably do so. No reason to fight while impaired if it can be prevent." Jeaux casts another spell of light at the blue tentacle
  21. True, my first idea was to only replace the first roll if the second was a hit or better. That has the same end result, statistic-wise, but it is a bit more complicated since the second roll is only applied 50% of the time so I thought I would try changing it for simplicity reasons. I was mostly trying to think of a way to bring the special damage odds up from 1/36 to 1/12, so people would see the special damage more often and it wouldn't have to be so deadly to be effective. It would be the reverse, roll and replace for a hit or better. If the hero was lucky and the enemy was jinxed then you would roll the dice a third time if the result was still miss or worse. There are ways around it, but most of those methods significantly punish heroes for not using lucky (a lucky enemy is an example of that). Like I said, it was just an idea I had so I figured I'd see what others thought.
  22. So I've thought for a while that Lucky is extremely overpowered. It raises the odds of a shield to almost 1/3 and more importantly reduces the odds of special damage to 1/36. The real problem I usually have with it is that QMs either don't plan for it, result in a fight that is far too easy when a hero uses lucky or they design a fight where 1 or 2 special damage rolls per round is catastrophic to the party. I was running some numbers to see if I could revise lucky to still increase the odds of the battle die in the hero's favor, while not offsetting it so much that it ruins fights or makes lucky required and I came up with a possible change for the effect that I think could work. "If the first roll of the battle die comes up miss or worse, the battle die is rolled a second time, overwriting the first result." So if the player first rolled a hit, crit or shield they would keep the first roll. If the player rolled a miss, damage, or special damage they would roll again and keep the second roll. It's a bit more complicated than the original rule, but I'm hoping it is still simple enough to be understood. Stat-wise, it reduces the odds of SpecialDamage/Damage/Miss rolls to 1/12 each and increases the odds of Hit/Crit/Shield to 1/4 each. The odds of a negative roll (Miss or below) is the same as the current Lucky effect but since the odds of each negative roll and each positive roll are the same it keeps the chance a bit closer to even, making it a little less OP. Just a suggestion, but I thought I would throw it out to the masses and see what people think.
  23. Jeaux grabs the diamond from his bag and casts a holy spell of light at Left Blue Tentacle from the back row
  24. "Weren't you the one who created the Harvester, why make such a creation if you are so disgusted by it?"
  25. Jeaux fires a round from his handcannon at the Left Blue Tentacle from the back row
