Heroica RPG- Quest #122: Invasion of the Sheep Snatchers
Kintobor replied to Kintobor's topic in The Heroica Archive
The turret seems to be very complicated. A green goo seems to be leaking out of certain points, and sparks fire off from the wreckage. The bodies aren't as amphibious at first glance, seemingly very scaly and smooth skin, almost reptilian. Stabbing at the ground, Siercon finds nothing. Looking around for the crystal, Lind finds it shattered to pieces, no longer glowing and now nothing more than ashes. He feels something nudge his back. Turning around, a longer barrel points in his face. "I'd advise you to get your filthy hands away from our property, unintelligent ape!" She fires off a second of her devices, clearly irritated, sending a spray of lasers into the air. She stands in front of the party, her foot nestled on a rock, two large devices in her hands that look similar to hand cannons. Purple cloth was wrapped around her waste, gold epaulettes sitting on her shoulders, making her look important. Next to her stands a short, esoteric looking automaton. It made an occasional beeping noise. The Other groans in disgust, looking at the carnage surrounding her, and then the party. "Look alive and listen! Do you schmubs have any idea who you're messing with? You should be kneeling before Invader Kaz, but perhaps your intellect is inferior to the point you don't understand who stands in front of you? It is to be expected from such feeble minded organisms like yourselves." "Yeah, pathetic, worthless, schmubs. KNEEL BEFORE KAZ!" The robot screams enthusiastically Kaz grapples the automaton, trying to get it back behind her. "Will you-" "Gik's hungry. It's taco tuesday, right?" "Ignore him." Kaz tells the party, looking increasingly irritated. "These creatures you call "sheep" are now our property. We own them because we will it. We will not tolerate this attempt at juvenile resistance. Either you hand them over, or I will use force to get the fluffy things that go "baa". Choose, pathetic sacks of meat, or I will choose for you." "Decisions, decisions..." What will the party do? -
Seriously, looking at the list of heroes we've got a long list of drunken shenanigans and narcissism. I love it.
-
Awesome? More like The Worst Possible Thing. Seriously, this party's going to be interesting to watch.
-
Potentially he could if he had the fashionista job trait. What he's asking is can he wear it, since the dress changes the job traits of the wearer.
-
I'm not selling it, if that's what you're wondering.
-
Why? Although it's nice to use this style, we don't need to adopt a format. "When I talk in character, this looks fine." It's also okay to think and do actions like this, as most novels do.

Annienal watches as Warlen meanders off. Noticing the notices on the board, she signs up for quest 131.
-
Originally second characters had to have a connection to the first.
-
A facade is also an outward appearance that is maintained to conceal a less pleasant or creditable reality. (Credit goes to google)
-
Annienal looked at the scroll, not really getting a good look at it. "Well, um... sure, I guess 115 will do." Annienal hands over her 115 gold and takes the scrolls.
-
Quest #122, I'm unfortunately away from my collection, but I will be back tomorrow to move the quest into the final phase. Sorry for the lack of an update.
-
Annienal meanders back into the hall, noticing Warlen setting up shop. She walks over and takes a look at his stuff, looking puzzled. "A bunch of scrolls? Didn't I give these to you back in that alleyway? If you don't want them, I'll buy all of them off you for 100 gold."
-
That's hard to do when you have to determine low, middle, and high level enemies.
-
Meanwhile, Warlen attempts to invite heroes for a house party, however it seems everyone is busy... "Uh... Harry. Yeah, I don't think you know him." "That's strange. I know just about everyone around here." "He's... uh... a bear." --- I couldn't resist! It's one of my favourite scenes in the whole show!

Quest #126 I thought the quest was good, but there's some bits that I wish could've been a bit more focused. As a whole, the quest had a bit of an undercooked narrative. I feel as if the quest's premise was good, but I feel it could've been handled a little better in terms of weaving the battles together, because that's the part that honestly lost me. The battles, while good on their own right, felt as if they'd been taken from three different quests and thrown into this one. There was really no connection to them. As an afterthought, if you managed to tie the battles into the Golden Lotus's rapid spread growth of the plants in the area, then perhaps a series of wood and earth enemies might have been fun. The other thing I wanted to comment about is perhaps some of the NPCs felt a little superfluous on the trip to the Lotus. I get why Virgil's there, and I also get why Fabio's there, but the other Sumeros I felt could've stayed behind. Javier felt a little underwhelming, and what happened to Rose? She had one line of dialogue after the Monkey fight. Perhaps like the character from Dr. Who she got teleported to another dimension? This many NPCs made it hard to also tell who the story was about- the PCs, or the NPCs. Always always always make sure you focus on the PCs as much as you can. NPCs are necessary, and often times incredibly memorable, but they cannot overshadow the PCs. I don't think there was a moment that felt as if the PCs were background characters, so it wasn't the worst I've seen it happen, nor was it bad, but it felt distracting at times, so keep an eye on that for next time. Bill Wallace, or somebody showed up too, or something, I don't remember... It's not your fault, but it did break the immersion, and that always sucks. I did like stuff in this quest! As much as it seems like I ragged on for a bit, I did have a lot of fun. This was an excellent party. You had the right balance, and a pretty fleshed out party (all the base classes except rogue! ) so combat wise it was good. The enemies were tough, but not overtly tough, so the fights were a good challenge, and I did really enjoy Virgil and Fabio. Those two were a blast to RP off of, and to me they're both probably my favourite parts of the quest. That and I did enjoy both cringing in and out of character at Fabio. The stuff in town was good, although I could tell it resonated more of of Miderun and Vindsval more due to connections, which is fine. I'm more than willing to come on another of your quests, King. Keep up the good work! Characters: Miderun: Miderun certainly is unique. I love the orcish heritage and I really dig her sort of foreign look on everything, especially violence, since Annie tries avoiding it all costs. There's just something so endearing seeing these two opposites collide (a very loud, action oriented and a quiet, more passive character) and manage to get along. Some of my favourite RP's come off of Annie and Miderun's interactions, including the one about romantic advancements with Rose, so I hope the two quest again! Warlen: I feel Warlen's a lot more likeable now that Quarion's out of the picture, at least on quests. Quarion was a bit too off beat even for my tastes, and a lot of my quests get very strange. I like his sort of merriment and all around tomfoolery, although he does understand there's a time for fun and a time for seriousness. I want to comment on Warlen's backstory. First off, sorry for not responding to that. Bad form on my part. Secondly, not the greatest thing to spill at once, seeing how you more or less have to stick to that and you've left no suspense... but, you did include a reason for why your character is adventuring, and a reasonable one at that. Also, there's still stuff you can work around with that backstory, so it's not that bad. You actually pulled it off pretty good, looking back. Warlen's growing on me, so keep it up! Vindsval: I really dig Vindsval. A lot. I love the gargantuan mass followed with the chivalrous, almost gentlemanly demeanour of the character; juxtaposition at it's finest. I was a little worried when his arm got cut off, but now I think it's helping his character along alright. Vindsval's a highlight of not needing a whole lot to make a character interesting. Mundane is totally fine. I like the whole Wanderer aspect, I love the interactions with Miderun speaking Orcish with Vind not knowing his race's native tongue, he's like Skrall or Grimwald in that he's not that extraordinary of a person, but that's why I love him! Keep up the good work! Acteaon: I liked what I saw of him. It's a shame that you went silent near the end, but I did enjoy Acteaon's presence. His inner monologue was fun to listen in on at times, and his time talking with the PCs was good. Perhaps a bit more interactions would've been nice, but you weren't a lone wolf either, so nothing too bad. Next time though, if you know you're going to be away, drop a post in the general discussion, or a PM to the Quest Master telling them you might be absent. Other than that, I'd be down with questing with Acteaon again! Annienal: Annie's starting to stand on her own two feet, which is awesome. I love how this quest really solidified her as a nerdy bookworm who has no solid ideas about romance. That being said, she's becoming more dependable in a fight, and she's starting to worry less, which is fine. It's a trait that was going to become less prominent as the character progressed. She has to, otherwise she become stale. I'm still tinkering around with her, but I now have a solid idea of where she's going.
-
Seeing everyone walk out, Annienal looks worriedly at them, panic in her eyes. She politely bows to the two men before making her way back to the party. She fumbles for a map, pulling it out. "Um, we, um, need to head back to the ship! We're in Carthago, and Eubric is... um... but.... um... eep!" Annienal quickly tailed Miderun, hoping where she decided to go was the fastest, and safest route possible. Knowing Miderun though, something was bound to happen. Thanks for the quest, King! I had a good time! I have some stuff I wanted to say, but I'll do so when I get a chance. Thanks again!
-
Annienal wanted to reply to Fabio, but he rushed off, leaving a sense of dissatisfaction in her gut. She wanted to accept his apology, but at least it seemed he'd learned something valuable, and for that, Annie gave a small smile. She looked at the man in the balcony and that sense of reward seemed to wash away as the man introduced himself. "Um... Annienal Anavir of Heroica. I must say, there's a lot of space for murals. May I ask what's being painted here?" Annienal replied diplomatically. She was slightly suspicious of the two men, if only because they had bushy facial hair and dressed peculiarly.

QM Note: I'll take your word for it. It's been fixed for this round of combat, although it's late and I do want to get some sleep. Battle Order > Purpearl: Lightning Spell vs. Turret- Crit. LEGO Minifigures - The LEGO Simpsons Series 2 Poll
Kintobor replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Licensed
I've never been a fan of the Simpsons, so another wave of these guys is fine by me if it's saving money on my wallet. I think the soda can and the slushie pieces are neat, though. -
I thought that was originally posted in the hall as well. It's kind of important. One could go back through the Training Room, but considering how long some of those posts get, it might help to post it in the hall as well.
-
Isn't that being done in the Hall thread, though? Class changes are recorded there, if I recall.
-
Quest #117 Okay, so I'm going to make this as brief as I can because I can go on tangents. I thought this quest was solid in concept... not in it's execution so much. I'll agree with the PC's that the quest wasn't that great. I probably should've reduced the amount of inns visited, the PM chains should've been more frequently used, had the Dulahan chase the party... but I think this quest's saving grace is it's PCs, because hot DAMN do I love the party interactions! I love seeing a party tear itself apart, and it's never been more so apparent than in this quest (and I've been in two quests which have torn parties apart!) I think the fights were alright. The Shadow battle I thought was going to be easy, but I did enjoy that it seemed to be challenging without being brutally hard. About who, or what killed Rollinger... I'm not telling. I think it's one of those mysteries that's better left unsolved. I like having some ambiguity at times, a sense of not knowing the whole truth. My three favourite scenes are the opening, the Brick'lin inn, and the Wayward Angel inn, just for how much atmosphere they had. Seeing the PC get worried about potentially igniting into flames was one of those QM moments I will never forget. The Party: I think Khorne said it best. Everything he's said I agree with one hundred percent. You guys were a great party, and I just loved some of the immature, selfish, childlike bickering that happened during the quest. Since Khorne didn't talk about his own character, I'll add some stuff here. I'll say that Eric was an interesting character, in that if he was a really person I'd hate him. I love his interactions with the various female NPCs, trying to get in bed with the barmaid, feeling something for Lydia, but being such a dominant. A womanizing hero is an interesting character trait, and one we haven't seen before. Although it's a rather negative trait, roleplaying and RPGs in general allow us to explore different characters and different view points, so kudos for doing something different, and even somewhat taboo. I'd love to see him come face to face with some kind of dominatrix to put him in his place. Eric's somewhat childish behaviour at the end was brilliant. I loved that moment because it made Eric look selfish and arrogant in the readers eyes, but the superior in Eric's. He won't take nothing from the dwarf at this point, and the fact he tossed the pearls away said more than words ever will. If you guys have any questions, I'll answer them here. I also have an Eternal Reaper sum up I want to post, since it's been surprisingly quiet. Again, thanks for coming along, you guys were awesome!
