  1. Annienal begins to enter panic mode, as she begins to hyperventilate. Fear slithers into her conscious as her minds darkest fears unhinge in the dark of being blinded. Annienal begins to calm down, and she begins to take a moment to breath. Her fears recede as she wipes the sweat from her face. "T-thanks... um, Vind." Annienal gulps as she attacks the Vampire from the front.
  2. Karie waved her hand at Purpearl at the mention of the Shadeux. "I got no real gripes when it comes to them... except Samuel Shawe. He's a right git. That and Dyric Rone. Let me tell you something. Do not trust that man, no matter how pleasant he may seem at first. I made that mistake, and when it came time to hand cargo over to our employers, him and his prejudiced Metasimian friend turned tail and sided with Shawe instead of our Hinckwell employers. If Dyric Rone doesn't stick, his nickname of "Assassin of the Light" will." Karie drinks from her glass, frowning as her anger rises. She scrawls some words on a piece of paper and places it on the table. Current Fields of Glory Team -Karie Alderflask (Level 28.66 Witch) -Purpearl Berthadhiell (Level 20 Mystic Knight) Talk to Karie to audition!
  3. So wait, now you're saying all dwarves are craftsmen? I believe that's stereotyping. Seriously though, there's a difference between crafting a sword and crafting a flintlock pistol. I can see certain dwarven blacksmiths being masters at crafting swords and axes and other melee items, but not flintlocks, since they haven't been exposed to it. It takes years to master a trade, let alone the creation of weapons. If I handed a dwarf a flintlock, I bet he'd be rather confused as to what he was handed. I think the airships come as an influence from Final Fantasy 6, because I know Sandy's a fan of the series. You can't fool me! I think it comes down to a choice for the narrative. What happens when you commercially sell guns? The average citizen can get their hands on it. Now imagine the Wolfgang getting ahold of flintlock weapons and handing them out in the Hovels. A cool scene to imagine, sure, but one that drastically changes Eubric's dynamics. Suddenly the Houses in power are not totally in control as the people have a lethal and game changing weapon. Suddenly we'd be in a French Revolution-esque setting, with angry, restless citizens, and the heads of houses losing their heads. Stuff like this, if not checked, can change the world, and the narrative.
  4. No, I guess you're right. They're everyday dwarves. We're in a fantasy setting, and although humans are the most populous race on the Free Islands, that doesn't mean the sightings of dwarves, elves, were folk, halflings, orcs, gnomes, and other fantasy races aren't rare occurrence. They're still a major portion of the population. That being said, there are some races I doubt you'd see too often in the Free Islands. I always saw Satyrs as being few and far between on the Free Islands, same with Nagas.
  5. "Well, I don't expect to leave him or her here! Don't get me wrong, I like people in this hall, but not everyone here is of a sound state of mind. This hall isn't the proper place for a baby, let alone most people." Karie chuckles at Purpearl's statement, deciding it best to drink some wate, and being close enough to the bar, she grabs a pitcher and a pair of glasses. She pours one for herself and Purpearl. "I'm hoping my husband will look after the baby while I'm off adventuring, seeing how he works in the city, but... well, he hasn't been himself lately. He's been moping about. He barely eats, he barely sleeps... I'm worried about him." Karie pauses for a moment before looking back to Purpearl. "Nothing to concern yourself with, anyways. Nope, I'm just glad someone here's getting some success in this hall. I'm looking to hopefully get out to the Fields of Glory. I keep hearing about it, and with no word of the Hinckwells needing help, I've got nothing better to do. You interested in coming along? I don't mind heading back early if something comes up." Karie taps her fingers on the table, hoping the Fields would entice the Mystic Knight to join her. She needed more members for her team, though...
  6. Really beautiful! I love the scene you've done here!
  7. Noticing Vind having trouble with his target, Annienal takes a swing at the Vampire from the front row.
  8. "Oh, hey, Purpearl!" Karie replies, seeming relatively surprised. Karie scoops up the 25 gold and pockets them, nodding back in approval. "Well, not that great. I've been having... erm, issues with some of the supposed "heroes", but it's nothing to get yourself wrapped up in. My issues with them are mine and mine alone, so don't worry to much. I've been off for the past year slaying demons and banishing arch demons, as well as saving the world from evil incarnate up north. You know, the usual. Well, no, I'm currently in the middle of a pregnancy, but eh, it'll only turn into a nightmare in about four months." Karie looks Pupearl over, noticing her different attire. "Nice armour. What're you now, some sort of mage/knight hybrid?" She laughs to herself. "Seriously though, you look like you're doing good for yourself."
  9. I agree with WBD. 5 ether per revival is steep. What if a druid doesn't have enough maximum ether to revive everyone in the party? I know it's not a common situation, but it is still a viable situation.
  10. Mainly because it was Guts reason for dropping it. Perhaps I should've thrown an emoticon in there to show I was joking. Sorry if I offended our alchemists.
  11. Annie corks the bottle and decides to instead focus on The Ancient from the front row. "I'm just worried about Vinds' well being, I guess. I believe he's tossing a broom, Miderun."
  12. Yeah, in general, I agree with swils. You need to make sure that Alchemist can keep some form of gold gaining ability, since it seems that's the only reason people pick the class, but you still need to ensure it doesn't get overtly out of hand. I liked "gains gold equal to level". That seemed to be generally beneficial without being broken.
  13. Annienal takes a moment to uncork a remedy and uses it on Vindsval, standing on her toes in order to reach his mouth.
  14. Annienal grimaced as she readied her Bonaparte Cutlass and her stance. It seemed like none of her friends could show restraint in terms of provoking others. "Um, should I not go first? I mean, it's not necessary, seeing how I can't block any of our opponents specials, nor are we at risk from taking free hits, but I think we'd be better of with having my armour in front. As much as I don't like being in the front..." Annienal strikes at the Ancient from the front row.
  15. It's Linds first quest. I know we griped about the firearms, but give the guy a break. For him, this is a learning experience, and the last thing I want is to deter potential QMs away by continually berating someone over minor issues.
  16. WBD's got the right idea. Again, I'm not against Lind saying no to the two women. That's a viable, and justified option. Just make sure you remember he said no, and that even that has consequences, since he did lead the two women on.
  17. Rachelle walks up to Lind and slaps him. She huffs off, only for Lily to walk up and smacks him as well across the face. "And don't you dare come crying back to us, Lind!" The two women walk off into the crowd, clearly angered by the black knight, leaving Lind behind.
  18. It's usually better to make decisions that affect a character now rather than in the future. Our action have consequence both immediate and forthcoming. Karie joining the Syndicate had immediate (Karie in a relationship, Boomers wanting revenge), and future results. (Boomers' cutting Masson's arm off, Karie beating the shit out of Lawrence). I don't know what sort of plan you have for Lind, but having a plan means your following a rigid and strict set of guidelines for where you want Lind. Scrap it. I tried that with Karie early on but I scrapped it so early and just let Karie do what she'd do. The loving, supportive Karie managed to turn into a bitter, revenge filled, untrusting Karie. Let actions build your character now, and not later.
  19. The two women look at Lind with disappointment and somewhat angry. "Lind! Don't lead us on like this!" "Are you telling me you've had sex with another woman? Ugh! Seriously Lind?" "Don't try and lie to us. Either you're want to go and have some fun, like you sounded like you did yesterday, or you don't, and you lose that chance to have a threesome with us forever. Your choice. I was hoping we'd have some fun together, but if you're only wanting to lead us on, whatever..."
  20. Annienal shuffles about near the back. Miderun would speak her mind, and for once she hoped Miderun would teach this man a lesson. She coughs in the back.
  21. Karie places Grumpy's Staff (WP: 10, fire staff) more prominently on her table, hoping someone would take a liking to it.
  22. The issue for me stems from how often should a Minstrel perform per combat, and how much money am I going to need to invest in grand tonics to make the class work. Just to regain that thirty ether costs 60 gold with the use of two grand tonics, which adds up if I sing more than once per combat, heck, if I sing more than once per quest! At the rate of per target, I might as well pick a different class, since Minstrel's main support draw isn't worth it. I can do more benefit as a support player in Alchemist if we keep it's current 4 roll and Shield, and I can revive party members for five ether in Necromancer on an individual basis (It also has a better ether bonus upon entry to the class. Even though it's revival is based on the die roll, it's cheaper than Minstrel, and it's more lenient and not "worst case scenario" like DotP is designed to be). Attacking with Minstrel has the draw of the 1/2 chance to stun, too. There's a decent reason to attack with Minstrel. I guess I'll say I wouldn't be opposed to the idea of ether cost x # of targets if the ether costs on the songs were lowered to more reflect the change. At 5 and 10 ether, there's not a lot for strategy and planning with the class. Also, if the ether cost x # of targets is implemented, how will it affect the Encore Plectrum?
  23. I think Minstrel's change is fine. Ether burn is going to happen with the class, but with per target, certain songs can't even be played without wiping out your entire ether supply. A standard, basic Minstrel has at least 5+30+4=39 ether. Angelic Aria costs 10 ether. If there's anymore than 3 enemies, with the per target rule in place, I can't use the song. Even if there is only 3 enemies, that's 30 damage, which for AoE at level 30 kind of sucks. As well, after I attack, I can't use any other song. I now have to use one to two grand tonics to even use another song.
  24. Annienal takes Miderun's attitude towards her as dismal, and kicks a rock on the ground, feeling defeated. "Um... they were told to be here by Sean Cole. I mean, they outright stated why they're here." Annienal looks at Bobby in a concerned manner, crossing her arms. "Bobby, you did pay attention, right?"
  25. The sheep begin to baa at the party, each one giving their thanks, even if most of them couldn't understand what the woolly creatures were saying. "BAAA! <Thank you guys for saving us! Who knows where we'd be right now if it weren't for you!>" "Baa-baa! <Same! The sheep as a whole thank you! You're certainly good in our books! Feel free to come back and graze with us whenever you like!>" Together, Lind and Sorsha go looking for her fluffy, woolly hat, finding it in the dirt. Sorsha brushes it off and scrunches it back onto her head. "THANKS, LIND! THIS HAT KIND OF MEANS A LOT TO ME." Sorsha pats Lind on the back, nearly dropping him to the ground. "WELL, THE OTHERS NEVER LANDED ON THE GROUND UNTIL NOW. I DON'T THINK THEY'LL BE COMING BACK AFTER WE SHOWED THEM WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU MESS WITH US!" Sorsha shows off her rather meaty muscles to Siercon. She was surprisingly well built for her age. "IT'S NOT LIKE I KNEW ANYTHING ABOUT IT. THEY'VE NEVER LANDED ON THE SURFACE BEFORE." Sorsha states. There's a dose of anger in her voice. Looking down, Purpearl sees nothing but the cliff face. It was hard to imagine the alien Tactician and her colleague surviving such a fall. "That won't be necessary!" Looking behind them, the party was greeted to a large crowd of people. It seemed as if the entire village had shown up! Men, women, children, the elderly, all lined up and looking at the party. Chief Tarlock makes his way through the crowd and towards the party and the sheep. "I cannot thank you enough, heroes. I'm ashamed to say I slept through most of it, but it seems as if though there was quite the fight! Needless to say, the sheep are here, and so is our lively hood. Thank you. Thank you very much." Tarlock turns to his daughter, seemingly about to cry a river. He hugs his daughter, Sorsha hugging him back. Surprisingly, Tarlock doesn't seem to be suffocating. "I am so proud of you, Sorsha, and so would your mum." "Dad... I know..." The two share their emotional scene as the village looks on. It doesn't take long for a familiar pair of voices to ruin the moment. "OI! Tarlock! Let's go! We're all proud of Sorsha and the heroes, but there's a banquet to devour!" "Yessir! There certainly is, and it's not going to get eaten if we just stand here!" Tarlock wipes his eyes and grins widely. "*sniff* Quite right! Heroes, as promised, your reward of a Level Up Mushroom each. However, we also have a large breakfast banquet prepared for you for saving our sheep! You can tell me all about what happened to me then, and then to the village!" Tarlock steps up on a boulder and speaks to the crowd, including the heroes. "COME! LET US FILL OUR STOMACHS UNTIL WE'RE STUFFED, AND THEN WE'LL EAT SOME MORE ANYWAYS! THE LOT OF YOU! THESE HEROES NEED A MEAL FIT FOR A HUNDRED HEARTY SHEEP! TO MY HALL!" The crowd hoots and howlers and drags the heroes away from the scene. Lind finds himself greeted by two friends. "Heeellooo handsome! I hope you didn't forget us!" "Took out those nasty Others, eh? Well, why don't you take us out to our house and we can skip the first servings of breakfast. And perhaps the second." "Lily and I know you must be pretty exhausted... what do you say, Lind? Don't lead us on!" The two ladies seem ready to gobble Lind up in a less than wholesome way. Purpearl, Siercon and Matthais meanwhile all get moved by the crowd into the hall, Sorsha with them who seems to be enjoying herself. "KNOWING MY DAD, THERE'S GOING TO PROBABLY BE A LUNCH BANQUET AND HUUUGE SUPPER AS WELL! OH, AND THE PARTYING! YOU SHOULD SEE THIS VILLAGE PARTY DURING GROGMAS!" The five of them were the village heroes, and it seemed they wouldn't be leaving even if they protested. Although a day of eating and partying was what was commemorating the occasion for their repelling of an otherworldly menace, the town of Hoogan would always remember Siercon, Matthais, Purpearl, Lind, and Sorsha as Heroes. -The Quest Is Successful!- The Party Matthias the Carnival Crusader (StickFig) *Party Leader 22 Year Old Male Gnome Level 19 Druid *Gains 10 gold for each Humanoid killed* *Immune to Bound, Slowed* Power: 36 (19 + 9 + 0 + 0 + 10) Defense: 4 (0 + 4 + 0) Health: 22/29 (6 + 18 + 7 + 0 - 2) Ether: 16/19 (0 + 18 + 1 + 0 + 0) Gold: 111 Equipment: Restored Fireball Extraordinaire (WP: 9, hits enemies above and below target, Darkness and Electric Elemental, user is slowed), Hunter's Plate (SP: 4, wearers gains +10 gold for each humanoid kill, suitable for rogues, rangers, barbarians, beast warriors, infiltrators, regulators, and beast warriors) (Dreyrugr), Winged Sandals (wearers is immune to bound and slowed, footwear) Inventory: Peashooter (WP: 2, deals Burning: -2), Pongcanis Crossbow (WP: 8), Xeno Whip (WP: 4, poisoning the Xeno Whip doubles the poison output, whip), Dapper Hat (Head wear, 1/6 chance to be encouraged at the beginning of battle), Ruby, 2x Elixir,Grand Potion, Grating Stone, Potion, 2x Red Death Blood (first target hit is doomed, consumable), 4x Remedy, 2x Smoke Bomb, Doomsday Bomb (Deals 99 damage), Scrap Metal x2 (25 Gold) Bedroll, Magic Compass, Level Up Mushroom Siercon (Siercon and Coral) Male, Age and species unknown (Visual appearance of hollow black smoke in human form.)
