Welcome to Ameribricks.com - Major Changes Coming!
Phazon replied to Shadows's topic in Forum Information and Help
Let's breach this fortress and reclaim what is rightfully ours! We still have nuclear missiles that you gave us America, well played, well played.... I almost fell for it, untill I read the comments, that is. An other website changed all the avatars to Rick Astley's that was a lot of fun too! E: fortress, not the Pokémon -
I really like all the details like the motorbike, the jerrycans, the pumps, not to mention the brilliant carwash! My only critisism would be that the roof above the petrol pumps is a not wide enough. Great job!

I have the set, but I immediately used it for MOC'ing. The parts look somewhat strange to be extra, on the other hand, are you sure that you've completed every step in the manual? The tan bricks could be part of the construction beneath the roof. There are a bit too much tan bricks and maybe you are just lucky!

Well I used the 'bag piles' while building a modular building (in fact, a couple modulars ). I use the following technique: First I seperate the individual bags and sort them on numbers (printed on the bag). You'll have a row of several bags per number, after that, I sort the bags size-wise. The big bags go together and same goes for the small(er) bags. I open the bags with the lowest number, while keeping the individual bag piles seperate. You can either sort the pieces inside the piles or start building from the piles. I do something else, I put the bags with the same bag content (they should be lieing close to eachother) in the same bowl. The main advantage for me is that the pieces with the same function/ appearance/ color are sorted together. I find it easier to find the pieces wich I was looking for. The rest of the sorting is easier as the seperation technique ensures that most pieces that belong together are in the same bowl. I hope it is understandable and if you have any questions, feel free to ask.

Just to make things clear: Lego will not release brick-built roads, because brick-built roads are substitutes for the road plates and that way they destroy a part of their market. I thought that someone else mentioned that Lego designers finish their design about a year (or even more), before the official release date. That makes guessing which building/ style will be used much harder. And it could also mean that the next modular is already finished. The theme will not discontinue when the block is finished, while the street consists of several separate blocks: corner-straight-straight-corner and so on. It doesn't need to be placed in a single square. As for buildings I agree with most ideas, although I don't expect a flourist, partially because I don't think that such a building would look great and also because a flourist isn't that important in a city. The police office will take another year or two to come, atleast that's what I think. I am hoping for a slightly more impressive building size-wise with lots of details, just like the Green Grocer. A bakery/ butcher/ school/ shop seems most likely.

I haven't built that one yet, I hope you enjoy the modular series just as much as I do. My personal favorite is the Green Grocer. I was very lucky when I bought that one, because it was already discontinued and I came across a Lego enthousiast who sold it for a great price. As for the other modulars: at first I didn't like the Firebrigade, but is a nice build and I like it a lot now, every modular building appeals to me. The one that stands out from the ones you noticed was the GE, although I don't exactly now why.

It depends on which sets you want to combine with the Modulars and also on the way you want to incorporate the Modulars with the city sets. Here are some more examples: TheYellowBrick: WIP MOC - Lego City And this one: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=34171 (including creator sets)

Like everyone said, it is possible. And here is why:Guide to modular housing As you can see, the distance to the connecting bricks is the same for the Grand Emporium, Town Hall, Green Grocer and so on.

Congratulations to the winners!

Well done! The higher walls sure make Helms Deep look more impressive. I like it a lot and I am looking forward to the brick-built version.

You are supposed to, are you sure that you attached the 1*1 round plate to the grey piece on which it should be clicked?

Even though it seems a good price, you might be that evil man buying the last Toy Shop, who spoiled a child's dream. What I am trying to say is that money isn't that important if the result is a sad child. That's just my point of view, I guess.

Sounds great and as a lot of work to be done.

These are all the windscreens on sale: http://www.bricklink.com/browseList.asp?itemType=P&catString=115 I think that I would go for this windscreen with some SNOT work, if it really needs to be angled. http://www.bricklink.com/search.asp?colorID=12&itemID=805 Good luck with the windscreen, I hope that this helps!

Now I've seen the picture of the whole city together, I have one question: are you going to merge this part of your city with the 'Petshop' part? I wish I had this as a town lay-out.

This is stunning, what a beautiful building! Your building techniques have improved since the first builds, but this one is again better than the previous build. You have proven to be one of the best builders, at least to me. I hope there is more to come and I am eagerly waiting for the next building to show up. I really like the detail with the emerald building sticker, it is brilliant. I also agree with sonicstarlight about the dome.

The bus station is pretty cozy and I love that kiosk. Good luck in the contest and well done!

True! Lego should have made a better limo. From the positive side, there is a new candidate for modifying.

These cars are great, they should be in Lego sets instead of the ones we currently see.

Nice to see how your building evolved, grew and changed for some years.

Although most cars are 4-wide, while I prefer six (the old dilemma), they do look great. I think I like the roadsters more, even though I don't like them most of the times when built with Lego. Let's just say that you've done a great job on all these cars. Some are really long, yet seem realistic and that is because you have some special building skills.
