The first thing I do when I start sorting is looking at the amount of pieces that need to be sorted. For example: if I have the amount of tan cheese slopes that was inside the Tower Bridge, I make space for it and put the pieces in a seperate place. Other pieces which came in a smaller amount (like 5/ 6), will be put together with similar pieces in an other colour or pieces with the same function. This works fine for me my limited collection, when compared with yours. I agree with Legolijntje's method, using other types of boxes either cardboard or plastic ones could solve a part of the problem, which I think is the limited space in each of the containers. I'd definitly prefer sorting in colours than brick types. For me sorting different types of 1xX bricks means sorting their colour first and then I decide if I want to sort them even more accurate. It just depends on the amount of bricks. My last suggestion is to try to sort the bags together (there are almost certainly two or more similar bags in sets content wise) this saves time, as you won't have to seperate the same pieces over and over. I hope it made sense to you. Good luck with sorting! Here is a useful thread stacked with information: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=26213

And I thought that sorting the Grand Emporium and the Tower Brigde took a long time.. There was a thread about sorting pieces somewhere on Eurobricks. I'll be posting a comment in your other topic (found it when searching for the original one). It's good to hear how Lego helps and supports their costumers. Enjoy your purchases!

It indeed is an impressive building, which becomes even more beautiful when built in bricks. That's something to look forward to in the future. The architectural style is almost exactly how a bank should be (atleast to me it is), keep it up!

Looks like an ideal place for this hobby . I recognise some MOC's and I do like the overal layout. That trainstation is my favorite part.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
Phazon replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
I recently built the Town Hall and I really liked the build and the architecture of the building itself. It is indeed much larger than the other modulars, but it can be used in other ways than just the street row. It can be a great standalone building with trees surrounding it, or you could MOC some larger modulars as neighbours. If it wasn't for the looks of it, I'd suggest buying it too, as you get a large amount of pieces and especially in some handy and beautiful colours. -
I actually like your designs too, that I do not comment on every thing I see, doesn't mean that I don't like it. Of course, those supercars would better when built with lego, than with a computer program. The car wil look much smoother that it does now. Anyway, nice build as it really resembles the real car.

MOC: Cobblestone Street & Bridge, Theatre District
Phazon replied to AncientDayz's topic in LEGO Town
Now I see, I tend to look at MOC's as being beautiful (if they are), rather than looking at the structures and it's almost clear to me! It's not like I have the right pieces to build a brigde like yours, but I'll definitely keep it in mind when I'm considering to build one. My first project, well actually there are atleast three, are modulars and I keep redesigning them untill I am completely satisfied and since I am a perfectionist this might take a while. Some have been rebuilt three times and all will be this summer, except for one, which lacks a proper interior. I'll hope to inspire you as much as you've inspired me if I show my MOC's one day! E: I'm looking forward to your other builds, good luck with that. -
MOC: Cobblestone Street & Bridge, Theatre District
Phazon replied to AncientDayz's topic in LEGO Town
If this one was for sale, I'd definitely buy it! I really like the curved bridge and the tiles make it really look like an old bricky road. Although I do not like the tiles which are attached to the bridge (matter of personal taste), this is a masterpiece. Do you mind to show how it was built? And if I borrow the idea someday? -
This looks great, especially the junkjard is great, with all the spare parts and the toolbox. Well done!

Signed! I'd like to have a café corner, I suppose that the set will be profitable in a few years (I hope so ). They could atleast re-introduce certain discontinued parts to make bricklinking a lot easier and cheaper too. I am glad that I got the Green Grocer from a AFOL collector who sold one with an opened box. The set was new and it costed €175 instead of the €200 a two years ago. Mine has since tripled in value, which I think is rediculous.

Well everybody, if you stop smoking (for the ones who smoke) you now know what the result might be. And that's a large budget, mine is roughly enough for €450,-. That budget certainly allows you to build an even more beautiful city.

This is exactly what I'd like to build over time, with my own MOCs that is. The alleys and realistic placement of the buildings makes it all so real. There are some great MOCs between the modulars, yet they have a different style. I find myself building in the same way most of the time and you've found a solution to that. The masterpiece for me is the red bulding with the round bay window, like TheLegoDr said: the one from the modular building contest? At first the lay-out was just big, but now it is realistic with even more beautiful buildings. While I didn't like most MOCs in the begininng, I do like the newer MOCs, but the Pet Shop MOD seems to big. Anyhow, great city with fantastic details with some greenery and nice landscaping! I'd like to know what your future plans are concerning MOCs, modulars and landscaping. How much do you want/ intend to expend this city? And the last question is: what's the amount of money that you spend on Lego every month or so?

Something different for a change, looks great! I especially like the contrast between the higher buildings and the more rural area. I'd like to see more pictures, if that's possible.
-
I like the changes which happened to your town. It's pretty unique that you have a story behind the buildings and the landscape, instead of just building what you like. You are building a story.

That's a great bus you've built! May I borrow the windows? Those remind me of real busses with a smooth and clear view on all sides. Though I don't like the front as it's too clumsy (if that's possible for a bus ) and this way it lacks lighting and it leaves a gap between the window. Now I want to rebuilt my bus and MOD it like this one!
-
I agree with you both, I think that buying it now is the best option, atleast the safest. I saw a copy going for less than 200 euro, the ones I see nowadays are around 10 euro more expensive. Although I think that this set will be a great item for an investment, there won't be a second copy.

Yesterday, I noticed that the Tower bridge set (10214) wasn't available in certain Dutch webshops, which had the set half a year ago. My question therefore is: should I buy it as soon as possible? I haven't read anything about a discontinuing, but you'll never know. Thanks in advance!

I agree with those who don't like the city square, apart from the blue colored windows and the lack of details in certain places, I don't think that these buildings belong together in the way they are supposed to be. The Bike Shop lacks interior, it feels cold and empty, while the bus is too red for my liking. It's just that it isn't realistic anymore. The only thing I intended to buy was the Petrol Station, which is a MOC... And I think that the combination of a bus and a couple buildings and minifigs is just a marketing technique. The idea behind this seems to be that people want the bus and pay for the whole set, the sets sells for a higher price, so that Lego can make an even higher profit out of it.

Well, I don't blame anyone it's just this topic is partly meant to harass some people even more, that's my point of view. Other than that, brilliant and nice joke!

It was really funny at first, but when I saw that some members didn't get the joke and became frustrated about it, the fun disappeared. I don't care what the reason is, but willingly frustrating others isn't neat. @ Shadows: You might even lose members for the sake of this 'joke' as it obviously lasted too long.

I agree with most of you that buying the Fire Brigade is the best choice. Since it will be discontiued at this year, (atleast that's what I read somewhere) the prices will eventually rise and the built itself was a neat one. There are some great techniques and you can also consider it as a great parts pack if you don't like the finished building. I was convinced about buying one, because I read a review here on Eurobricks. I googled something like: "Lego Fire Brigade/ Grand Emporium [set number] eurobricks review." This gives you an idea about the details which the sets have to offer. I like the Green Grocer most and if you like to build it, or something similar, the haunted house might be a good start for the green bricks. And as a MOC'er, the extra pieces are always welcome.

Welcome to Ameribricks.com - Major Changes Coming!
Phazon replied to Shadows's topic in Forum Information and Help
What's missing in the new identity is that ameribricks should start a global Lego crisis and things like that. Maybe some international racial wars, I am also missing a more republican perspective with someone like George Bush on the banner. Don't forget these important influences! -

Some people comment about the discussions here, which should stop. At the same time they fire it up. I guess it is about time to stop with this so called 'joke'. E: I'd like to ad that I do not intend to offend anyone, so please don't feel that way.
