Unrest in the Forest - Day 6: Hemispheres
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'm willing to bet that he's the bomb, simply by the way that it worked out. Activists planting steel spikes in his tree causing a chainsaw to go flying into someone else? The whole point of the code system is to prevent the scum from learning potentially vital information. Let Waldorf and Simon have their Klingon chat. When they're done I'm sure they'll report something. -

Haven't you been saying that you're not a newbie? I don't get it, are you doing yet another reversal? You've said you played on other websites with a janitor role, and now you're trying to claim you're a noob again. I don't get it. -

This happens to be the ultimate, in my mind, "you've accused me, so you must be scum" move right here. As for some of the other points and responses in her defense against Simon's post: Like Simon said, you only believe in a janitor when it'll make you appear less scummier. The majority opinion here is that Hazel was indeed a Maple tree, I don't think it would have looked scummier if you did a 180 and said that she was a Maple. The only explanation that I have in regards to you being so sure that Hazel is an Oak is that it'll make you look less scummy, but your vehement insistence that she's town is extremely suspicious, and it comes off like you're trying to save your own skin. You thought the self-vote post was not scummy? That was one of the scummiest actions possible. It's the "I'm willing to be sacrificed to save the town!" defense, only it backfired on her and you were the only one to see her as Town. This goes back to my previous point. Berty is so sure that Hazel was janitored only because it makes her look less scummy. And also, the scum doesn't know the alliance of every player. Are you forgetting neutrals? Game hosts typically don't include the alignment of the person that's going to be janitored, unless this game is different and the host is giving your team the alignment of the players that are being killed. I underlined and bolded a passage that I found rather important. Berty is using the past tense here. Do you no longer believe that Hazel was actually a townie? Is this another complete reversal? Here's another reversal. Berty now claims that she shouldn't have town-read Hazel ultimately, and appears to call her scum, but then does another reversal and claims that there's no way in knowing. Vote: Berty Birch (Dragonfire) -
Unrest in the Forest - Day 5: A Farewell to Kings

Not openly, no. I haven't shared too many of my suspicions openly since Day Three. My scumdar hasn't been the most reliable this game. Other people had claimed that it's possible that Berty was just claiming Miller to avoid being lynched or looked at too closely, and I don't like being a big echo. -
Unrest in the Forest - Day 5: A Farewell to Kings
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'd have to say that I'm under the belief that those who are "Alignment Unknown" are likely to be Maples. There's no way that in the thirteen trees that have been felled that we haven't found a single Maple yet. However, the scum probably have a janitor as well. I'm just looking at the types of unknown alignment kills we've had. Two bombs and one who was ripped out of the ground. Is it possible that the scum are lifted from the ground and the janitored kills are blown up? It would seem this way, since the worker about to cut down Alistair claimed it was an accident. Maybe I'm over thinking it, since there's supposedly no clues or hints in the photograph, but sometimes old habits do die hard. I'm still quite suspicious of Peter Cedar and Berty Birch. Peter for flying under the radar and contributing absolutely nothing of substance this entire game, and Berty for his numerous reversals, his actions with Hazel yesterday, and I've been suspicious of the miller claim since Day One. I'm under the impression that someone experienced told him to claim Miller, which is why it came so late in the day. Even if he is inexperienced, most people know how to handle the miller role. I'd be fine with voting for either today, unless Bruce or Waldorf tell me why Nash is a better candidate to them. -

As suspicious as I am about Peter, I'll wait until tomorrow with him. Unvote: Peter Cedar (Badboytje88) Vote: Hazel Hazelnut (Goliath) She's been suspicious all day and she even voted for herself, then changed her mind when someone behind the scenes probably pushed her to it because the sacrificial townie ploy didn't work. -

Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
We still have another day. Honestly I'm not sure about Hazel or Maggie. Maggie hasn't said enough for me to comment and Hazel has said plenty but it's basically all just crazy nonsense, her trying to start a bandwagon, or her trying to fish for the vigilante. I'm still uncertain about Peter, because I don't think he's even been back to say anything since I voted for him. I'm not sure which I find scummier at the moment. Oh, it would appear that Sammy has ninja'd me. -

Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'm going to Vote: Peter Cedar (badboytje88). Why? He seems genuinely useless and hasn't contributed much of anything these last few days. Let's look at his one (and only) contribution for the day: Wow, how insightful. He's not been doing much of anything and most his votes he's simply said "I'm just hopping on the bandwagon!" He's either scum trying to lay low or he's incredibly unhelpful as a townie. -

How do the rest of the stumps feel about this? Are they on board with dumping all of the accumulated knowledge as well? I don't think it's a good idea to reveal every role that's out there. As of right now I'm going to have to go with nay, because whilst this whole code situation has been a bit of a debacle, I don't think it's really logical to reveal everything full boat. -
Unrest in the Forest - Day 4: 2112
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Larry: Chocolate Bobby: elephant Clem: debate I'm sorry, but is this weird to anyone else? Since when has a neutral party had to last until an arbitrary day like Day Four? Most neutrals have to last until the end of the game or have to be purposefully lynched, not killed mid-game. It just sounds way too suspicious for me. Perhaps the scum might have a rolecop, and they found this strange role or that he was a neutral. Or maybe Barry himself is scum and he just made all of this up. -
Unrest in the Forest - Day 3: Caress of Steel
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Indeed it is. I think I'm going to be looking at a few others that were up for the vote today, particularly Bobby and Peter. Bobby's apathy in this game is bothering me, as is Peter's inactivity and propensity to jump onto a bandwagon. Additionally, he provides fluff and is little to no help to us all. Both appear scummy to me, but for different reasons. I'll have to think more about it. -
Unrest in the Forest - Day 3: Caress of Steel
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
An interesting theory... ...and it's actually one that we have seen before on these very forums in Witch Hunt Mafia (a very early game) in which every dead player turned up as scum even though there were no scum in the game. It was meant to highlight the paranoia and craziness that occurred as a result of the Spanish Inquisition. There have been many odd games, including a game with only scum and one townie. It's possible that something like this where everyone turns up Oak, even the scum, is being tried here, but it's highly unlikely. If the trend of only Oaks being discovered continues further down, I'd suggest maybe returning to this idea. -
Unrest in the Forest - Day 3: Caress of Steel
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I'm torn between Bobby or Larry. Bobby's posts have been useless and it seems like he's seriously trying to coast through this game for some reason. On Day Two he said this: Great! Thanks for stopping by! Then there's Larry. These are the two posts of his that have stuck out to me today: Not much substance and basically repeating what had already been said without trying to provide his own theories or explanations. Then there's this completely useless post about one or more of the people in yesterday's vote being scum. Statistically of course that's a given, but he feels the need to bring it up anyway so he can say "I'm active and I'm trying to help!" Except he's not helping. Like, at all. So then I went back and looked through the last couple of days. Here's some choice ones from Day One: Seems like a wishy-washy statement to me. "Yeah, any information is helpful, but good luck getting information!" A fluff post meant to increase his count and look active. We'll be seeing a lot more posts like this. Eight scum Since when in a game of 25 has there been eight scum? The possibility is baffling and the fact that he even brings it up is suspicious, and, once again, meant to give the illusion that he's being active. Yes there is. You're supposed to engage in dialogue with the other players and try and work out scummy people based on that. I've said it before and I'll said it again, Day One isn't meant to be a happy fun time where we all sing songs and hold hands. We're meant to read carefully to try and work out scum using limited information. These two posts seriously pinged me. He just defended two people completely out of the blue for absolutely no reason. Why? Oh, because editing a post isn't something that a scum would do? This is a note to all future scum. If you want to blend in well with the town, you've got to edit your posts, because according to Larry, the scum don't edit their posts. Huh? He votes for the person that initially cast suspicion on Bobby because of that reason. That's basically a revenge vote even if it's not the person who's been accused voting for him. Then he says he'll vote for Alistair if there needs to be a lynch, basically telling us all that he's a bandwagoner. Great. Metagaming to try and defend Bobby again. This is the third time that Larry has jumped to defend Bobby for no real reason. That's suspicious in itself. Moving on to Day Two: Ah, I love the smell of fluff in the morning. Yes, that's the purpose of a janitor. If you've read about janitors you should know that's how they work. Everyone knows that's the basic gist of the janitor role. You didn't need to repeat it just to say something. The basic definition of fluff. Saying something just so you can say you're an active participant. Once again he's defending Bobby. Someone on his team must have told him that he was being way too close with Bobby. That's the only explanation I have for his sudden shift in opinion towards him. Ah, but old habits die hard. Here he is again defending Bobby. He got yelled at again, so now he's trying to distance himself from Bobby once more. It's really far into Day Two and there's just more fluff posts from him. And then there's this gem. There's so many things wrong with this post right here, starting with him saying that Catarina is caught in a lie because she claimed that she was the only one being accused that day. Then he claims that Chester had also been targeted, but there weren't as many people going after Chester as there were Catarina, so it's likely she missed it. Nevertheless, that's what pinged him enough. It almost seems like he was combing the thread just looking for a reason to hop onto the bandwagon, which he does. Then he tries asking Bobby for his suspicions at the end. That last second addition seems like almost an afterthought, where he's thinking "I've got to keep the distance between Bobby and I!" He's not even responded to the accusations that Simon and Nash brought against him, instead electing to poke Peter Cedar. Vote: Larry Larch (TheLazyChicken) You even said that you don't think he's too suspicious. -
Unrest in the Forest - Day 3: Caress of Steel
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
There's a few possibilities about the scum janitor: 1) The scum janitor was blocked 2) The scum have a limited number of janitorial moves and they decided not to go out last night 3) The scum are forced to alternate 4) The janitor move was a one-time deal and the scum are all noobs and they wasted it the first night There's also the chance that if Alistair was scum, then the scum trees are taken away so only Oak stumps can remain in the forest. If he was revived, wouldn't he have been planted back in the forest? Also, restless spirits are usually able to return to the day thread and post once. There hasn't been a restless spirit in a game in a long long time though. I suppose maybe we'll find out today if he is a restless spirit, but I doubt it. I did that as well initially, although not with Sammy. To the players that I sent codes to - disregard them. I'll start coming up with new ones for the players that haven't given me their own set. I didn't send codes / get codes from any of these three stumps. I'll be sending out a set of different codes to everyone who hasn't told me theirs / hasn't gotten any from me very shortly. -

Oh boy, here it is. No, actually, that wasn't the Bobby you were referring to. If you look back at your post, you quote me, then call me Bobby. Here's another attempt at confusion by you, you're not really helping. And also, what do you mean I miss the reference you made to me? What are you talking about? Besides, what useful things have you contributed to this game besides fluff and defensive posts? Putting something in bold is a very common way to highlight things. Did I not just display my reasoning? You haven't contributed anything at all. Sure, you've made a lot of posts, but they've been either defensive or they've just been rehashing what other people have said before you. That's not helpful at all. In fact, the only time someone approached you to be helpful, you ran off and didn't return, and when you did finally try to be helpful with the analysis on Alistair, it was sort of half-assed. Uh, you kind of did. I even pointed out where you did. I'm not saying don't poke them, I'm just saying maybe we should go too hard on them when they say that they're having trouble keeping up. You on the other hand should have no trouble reading and keeping current with the thread. Don't just piggyback on my reasoning. Maybe come up with your own in addition to mine? Good to know. -
Unrest in the Forest, Day 2: Fly By Night
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Suicide is sometimes allowed in these games, it's just very very rare. I remember in the first Eurobricks Mafia game that TheBrickster kept trying to kill himself and was thwarted each time by TPRU. And in Mystery Castle, the town were actually one step closer to being victorious because one player stabbed himself with a sword in ultimate RP and it was counted as a legitimate action. But these are very early games (the first and third respectively), and to my knowledge it hasn't been done since. I sense sarcasm here. I was merely suggesting a reason why only the newer players were having difficulty following along. -

Who's Bobby? My name is Sue. Perhaps you're thinking of famed Congressman Bobby Benedict, tragically impeached in an unfortunate set of circumstances. Contrary to your beliefs, I have been reading through the posts from Day One and Day Two, which is why yours have caught my eye. Like I said, you're known for your fluffy posts, but you usually end up posting fluff when you're trying to appear active when you're scum. Then she tries calling out my participation in an attempt to redirect suspicion onto me. That's another hallmark of a Catarina defense - redirection. You would like posted quotes to support my claims though? Very well. From Day One: Three useless and fluffy posts before the twenty-four hour mark on Day One. I didn't quote all of them, because these are the most blatantly fluff ones that come about when were starting to moving into serious mode. Fluff posts are fine early on in Day One, but not all of Day One. Then, after being called out for it, Catarina comes back swinging, of course: "Woe as me, I'm the victim of trash talk!" Also, I italicized, bolded, and underlined some rather important things she's said. In regards to the first bolded statement, no, Day One is not supposed to be fun and fluffy. The first few hours or Day One are supposed to be "fun and fluffy" but the rest of Day One is supposed to be serious and important. It's about looking through suspicious or suspect behavior trying to find any slip ups or anything that doesn't sit well with other people. It's why we don't just pick a name out of a hat at the end of Day One and say "Sorry, looks like you're the one that's going to be lynched today." Your posts were all fluffy and useless up until that point even as we expanded out of the time for those types of posts. In regards to the second highlighted post, she basically calls out the people that called her out as suspicious. Like I said, classic Catarina. The redirection. "I'm not scummy! These guys are scummy for trying to accuse poor little me!" The rest of your posts that day were basically trying to defend yourself since a lot of people viewed you as suspicious at that point. Moving on to Day Two: Basically rehashing what had been said in a post right above, so not very useful. Again, rehashing what had been said above and simply agreeing with the consensus at that point does not make you look active. Again with the "I'm a confused newbie!" defense that's oh so common in all of Catarina's defenses. Proposes a pretty good idea, but doesn't actually go through with the idea. When Simon confronts her about potentially providing this, she doesn't really respond, even after multiple pokes by him. A bit of fishing it would seem, then trying to cover her tracks in what appears to be an addendum post. The rest of her posts today have been either trying to defend herself from the numerous attacks she's been under because she's acting horrendously scummy, or just general posts of agreeing with what other people have said. Then there was the whole "low lighting" situation. She does know that there's a bold setting on the forums, right? It's even accessible on those new fandangled mobile devices. You can even just use the raw code for bold font if you're having that much trouble. It just seems like the worst excuse possible for a situation that itself wasn't that scummy. All she really had to say was "Sorry, I prefer using asterisks to highlight important parts of my posts" instead of "It looks fine to me on my lowly lite device!" So, yeah, you're still scummy to me. The "woe as me, I'm just a newb!" act won't work on me like it has in the past. To metagame, this is your sixth Mafia Game here, you're not a newbie anymore. Additionally, I'm going to do a big Mafia no-no and come out in some support for the newer players who are being called out for having trouble following along and catching up. There's a lot of "returning players" in this game...of life, particularly Simon, who hasn't been in one of these in quite some time and so he's been posting quite a lot (I think I saw someone count up to seventy today alone earlier). Most of these newbie players are used to game threads that aren't too long. I think the most pages in a day thread has been, on average, about five or six these last few games. Yesterday was seventeen pages and today is on track at breaking that. I'm aware that most of the older threads have been considerably longer, but for these newer players it might be a bit tough for them to sort through all of this. With all that being said, it's also possible that some players are just being lazy or are indeed trying to hide under the radar and appear to not be suspect. That's why I'm not using that as a blanket excuse for all of them. If you're being lazy, then try not to be lazy! Make sure you check this thread every thirty minutes on the dot, too. Drink lots of coffee and stay up all seventy-two hours! There's a reason we have a forty-eight hour night slot. If you're pretending to have trouble because you're scum, well, you'll still be viewed as suspicious. -

      Like Simon said, are you typing on a typewriter? Are you in a log cabin and faxing your posts in somehow? It just seems like an excuse for not checking your posts in case you slip up in them. Only, it's not a very good excuse. This combined with generally fluffy posts and your behavior yesterday and today in which you launch into extreme defense mode whenever someone comes at you makes me extremely suspicious of you. Vote: Catarina Dogwood (Adventurer1) You've played like this before and I've passed it off, but I'm not going to ignore it this time. Yes, and that's worked out perfectly every time, hasn't it? -

I'd have to agree with this line of reasoning right here. The investigator is a really powerful role and if the investigator is cut down, they should reveal all their results to us if they have not already revealed them in private. I'd perhaps add the vigilante as an important role that should be revealed as well in case the Maples kill our vigilante. If there is a scum rolecop, and they successfully identify and kill the vigilante, then they could claim to be the new vigilante in an attempt to fool a town watcher. Additionally, I'd like to recommend that all stumps tell us who you were speaking with prior to being chopped down. Lauren has already done so, but I don't believe Buck has. -
Unrest in the Forest, Day 2: Fly By Night
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Tree stumps? Interesting. I can't say I've had the best experience with tree stumps though. I'm willing to bet that the tree-stumps will "disappear" after only one day with the town. The rules seem to agree with this, since there is still Rule 8b, which states that dead players cannot communicate when they're dead. This might only apply to the players that are janitored by the scum, since their stumps are gone, but it might also mean that the stumps will disappear as well after only one day (or maybe more). To slightly metagame, that's usually the way it works. It would get really noisy if the dead were allowed to continue talking for the rest of the game and it would give the Maples the advantage to slip under the radar the entire game if we're not careful enough to differentiate between the dead and the living. I also wouldn't put it past dead Maple's to spread lies and spam up the thread in order to help their fellow trees. One day, however is still plenty of time to set up a town block, though, but we'll have to wait on confirmation from the Elder about this. -
Unrest in the Forest, Day 1: Rush
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Unvote: Adelaide Apple (TinyPiesRUs) I'm very tempted to vote for Alistair Pear simple because I don't understand what the hell he's talking about anymore. I've been attempting to follow along to his disjointed occasionally rambling statements in which he's tried to justify his actions earlier about unvoting Hazel and also for flailing a bit in his attempts to defend himself. I see Bruce Spruce as either being a vanilla townie who's taking charge or a scum trying to assert himself and make himself look town. At the moment I'm going to go with the former explanation. Catarina is also a possibility, but she seems to post a lot of fluff posts in all of her games and perhaps she just didn't know when it was time to stop and get down to business. I'm still suspicious of her because she might be playing her "I'm just a newbie!" card and she's claiming that she's fully open to being sacrificed when it's Day One and she only has two votes on her. The whole Hazel Hazelnut situation pings me a little bit and if Alistair does turn up as scum tomorrow I think we should look at her more closely. Larry Larch does appear to be defending multiple people quite openly, which is suspicious, but I'm not sure if it's the most suspicious thing I've seen all day. I'm understanding the vote on Agnes is a poke, Berty Birch appears to be poking and flailing, and the vote on Chester appears to be because of his concern about jumping on a bandwagon, which shouldn't really be too much of a concern as long as you provide evidence and reasoning as to why you're voting for that person. I've looked at each of the votes and I think I'm going to go with Alistair Pear. His statements are disjointed and rambling, he's talking about intreenet machines (the time for puns is over) and he just seems to be flailing at this point now that there's more votes against him. That and his somewhat smug statements about how the town is going to be screwed if we vote him out and how we should watch out for people flying under the radar. Vote: Alistair Pear / Brickelodeon It's a Day One lynch, but with all the confusion that he's bringing forward I don't know if I can handle a Day Two with him. -

Unrest in the Forest, Day 1: Rush
Bob replied to Walter Kovacs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I think the reason that some people might be holding you to scrutiny is because it's very early on Day One to begin PMing someone about a suspicion you have. Especially considering you had no problem calling Catarina out in public. I don't know if it's a really scummy thing to do as of right now. Simon usually attracts a lot of Oak Trees around him, so it's not a surprise that some people (at least one that we know of) have already opened communication with him. With that being said, scum sometimes will reach out to people that historically attempt to lead the town in order to make themselves look proactive and town
