Officer Fields breaks down the door using the box. Clearing away the glass with his nightstick, he enters. Others follow. Gloria carefully opens the box. It's filled with glassware, and clothing. Before going inside, Patrick opens the bin, the mail box, and the ice cream stand. There's a key inside the bin, but that's all that's out of place.

"I'll be holding onto the contingency plans, thank you." the Congressman says as he puts the folder into his case. There's a staircase upstairs nearby You are on the ground floor. Nearby the entry door is a staircase downstairs, and then a reception area. Towards the back is an staircase leading to the second floor. There's also a records room in the back, as well as a few offices. Mayor Bradford has all of his keys on his person. The group travels downstairs again, carrying the boxes. "Stay here." Chief Phelps says. Approaching the Armory Door, he inspects the locks. They appear to have been tampered with, and the armory door opens without the key to the door. Only one rifle is missing, there's a note nearby where the rifle was. Will straightens his tie. There's no available drawers or cabinets nearby. That's unspecific as well. Please specify who you'd like to specifically investigate. The first floor is reception, records, and a few offices. There are two staircases, one leading up, one leading down.

Ralph and Alan look for the key in the back of the store. Perhaps breaking the door would help, because it's glass. Then, Alan looks around for the fire escape, but this building doesn't have one. Finally, Alan finds a box that could be used to smash the door. The thief doesn't have a van...?

James and Mayor Bradford start looking through the records boxes for important files. They see deeds to houses, birth records, and other important papers. There's nothing in the boxes about X-K2P. "Perhaps we could find something on the second floor, in the Congressman's temporary office." Mayor Bradford suggests. The Congressman starts to protest, but thinks better about it.

Of course you can read both threads. You just can't use any thing found in the other thread in yours. -
"I...could try, if that's what you'd like." Officer Fields says. Farmer Alan does the smart thing, and walks around to the back of the building. There's a locked back door.
-
You may confer with Chief Phelps in private message. "Let's stick with the plan, Officer. We'll have to pass all the other floors on the way to the roof anyway." The Congressman says. James looks around on the floor, but no files were dropped. There are five boxes nearby the doorway still. "Do you think we should lock the files up?" Chief Phelps asks.
-
It's a revolving doorway, but there's not much odd about it. There appears to be something, a box, jamming the revolving door. Farmer Alan tries to listen for noises, but it's silent. There are three floors of the department store. The First Floor is clothing, the Second Floor is home decor, and the third floor is childens.
-
"I'm afraid I don't know much. I do know that it's classified at the highest level. I was going to Washington next week to find out just that. Whatever it is, it can't be good." the Congressman says. "Perhaps there's more files around here somewhere." the Congressman adds.

Note: Please make sure this is your group. The group of nine arrived at the Alabatha Department Store. There are a few goals that should be solved before this Chapter ends. 1) Who is the mysterious man stealing files? 2) What is the affiliation of the man? 3) What is "X-K2P" "Let's make sure we don't lose anyone in here." Red Scare Mystery -Confirmation and Discussion

To the Department Store: (Admiral Ron, Def, Professor Flitwick, The Legonater, Fugazi, CallMePie, Cralegoboy, Shadows, Dragonator) To the Town Hall: (JCC1004, Walter Kovacs, Sok117, JimButcher, iamded, CorneliusMurdock, Brickme, Burman, The Crazy One) Does this list seem accurate to everyone? -
There are four plans. 1) Sending in the National Guard. 2) Sending in more investigators. 3) Imprisoning the entire town, conducting investigations in Federal Prison. 4) X-K2P. These punishments range from bad to worse. The Congressman steps out from the basement with a key. "Have you all decided where you'd like to go?" He seems a bit upset that you're going through his folder, and locked him up, but he'll continue to help you for the time being. It would also appear that we've got our groups. Those who have not aligned themselves to a group will be automatically assigned. Chapter 3A will be the Town Hall, and Chapter 3B will be the Department store. These should be up later today or tomorrow depending on when people get their Chapter Actions in. Chapter Two is now over, and may be locked.
-
Stevie Jefferson is automatically added to the Department Store Group. Chief Phelps opens the folder. There are a few papers explaining contingency plans for Alabatha in the chance they can't catch the communists. All Police Officers have a gun. Chief Phelps is armed. To the Department Store: (Admiral Ron, Def, Professor Flitwick, The Legonater, Fugazi, CallMePie, Cralegoboy)7 To the Town Hall: (JCC1004, Walter Kovacs, Sok117, JimButcher, iamded, CorneliusMurdock)6

The group of townsfolk leave the jails as a whole. The figure was wearing a black hat, but that's all you gathered. Chief Phelps looks at the papers. They're records on town purchases, birth records, death records, and copies of other important papers. There's also a folder on top of the box from the United States Government, for Congressman Bob. "I believe we should let him out." Investigator Liebenston says. "The Congressmen are checked monthly for irregularities, and Congressman Bob wasn't even on the register." "Shall we continue investigating Town Hall?" Mayor Bradford asks. "Absolutely not! We should continue on to find the communist at the Department Store!" Ralph says. "Why don't we split ourselves up?" Investigator Liebenston suggests. Before Chapter Two concludes, I'd like everyone to organize themselves into two groups. One group will investigate the Department Store, and the other group will investigate the rest of the Town Hall. Nine people per group, please.

Farmer Simmons rushes after him, but the figure hits him in the head with the box. The unarmed farmer falls to the ground, minorly hurt. The boxes are filled with all sorts of information from the records office. "I admit, it wasn't smart distracting you like that. Please also stop calling me scum." James Falzone rushes outside, but sees the figure has disappeared in the time period. A few papers point him in the direction of the Department Store, but he helps Farmer Simmons, and returns back to the Town Hall to tell the others of the paper trail. "The Congressman was right!" Chief Phelps yells. "And the guy stealing the records got away!"
-
Alan Simmons, Gloria Jefferson, Mayor Bradford, Mrs. Jefferson, James Falzone, and Chief Phelps walk up the stairs. Sure enough, there are a few cardboard boxes filled with papers being transported out of the Town Hall by a figure. "Stop!" Chief Phelps says, reaching for his side arm. The figure, reaching for his holster, thinks better about it and rushes off with a box.
-
"I demand to be let out of here immediately. I heard noises upstairs, and I saw a few boxes being placed nearby the front door. I was coming downstairs to tell all of you when I was grabbed, and thrown in here. Go ahead, look for yourselves."
-
You do not need a Majority Vote for an NPC. The Congressman comes back down the stairs, but is quickly apprehended by Police Forces. "Let go of me!" he says. He is tossed into a jail cell. Stevie takes off his jacket and picks up the lamp, but it's over.
-
Stevie rushes after the Congressman, but his wet clothes slow him down. Stevie is also unable to conjure up a crowbar out of thin air.
-
Five years ago. Chief Phelps keeps a good eye on the Congressman. "Errr...look over there!" The Congressman says. While everyone else is distracted, he rushes up the stairs. Would you like to split up? If half the group splits up, you could cover more ground.
-
Gloria peers behind the file cabinet, but there's nothing behind there. Alan Simmons recommends moving on. Everyone is present, however, the Congressman is moving slowly to the door... Both the Jefferson's and Alan Simmons' have no criminal records. Patrick answered about Mrs. Jefferson arriving to town, and the deceased Mrs. Jefferson fell off of the Alabatha Department Store. Stevie makes an idiot out of himself hitting on the walls. They aren't false walls. Sure. Just get the key. The Town Hall was built when the town was founded in 1893. Since then, it has gone under several renovations.

It is a Tuesday, at approximately noon. Most of the Government Workers ran off out of town, you'd be the only ones remaining. "Sounded like they were going upstairs to me." The Congressman said. Chief Phelps has locked the jail cell key drawer again. The door to the Armory is shut tight. "I believe the key to the armory is upstairs, but I wouldn't let people in either way." Phelps says. Gloria GENTLY tips over the desk, knocking everything to the ground. After creating a big mess, it would appear only chewing gum is under the desk. Dr.Lloyd tries the door to the armory. It is still shut tight.
-
You must pick specific people. Chief Phelps opens the key drawer, only the keys are in there. He then closes the key drawer, and locks it again. "I cannot take the keys out of here, and besides, the keys in there only work on the jail cells." Phelps says. "After an investigation, we determined that she fell off of the building due to clumsiness." Phelps reports. Patrick tries to force open a jail cell, but cannot, as they're securely fastened.
-
Gloria opens the drawers of the desk. There's nothing really out of place inside the desk. There are four drawers, a supplies drawer filled with pencils and paper, the key drawer, which is locked, and two other empty drawers. The jail cells each have a bed, a small toilet, a chair, a desk, and a lamp. They are all the same. Mayor Bradford checks the birth records of the group. All the records are present and accounted for. There are a few death certificates, but the most recent one is of Laura Jefferson, Patrick's first wife who died. The records state that she fell off of a building. Mysteriously, her body was stolen from storage a few days after the death and before the funeral. Mayor Bradford then does the same search of the Warden's desk, but finds nothing new or out of the ordinary since it was last checked a minute ago. The jail cells are clean, there is no graffiti. The warden keeps all the key's in the locked "key drawer". You'll need a key to gain access to the drawer. The only person who should have the key is Chief Phelps. Upstairs, there is the sound of footsteps. The footsteps soon fade away, out of earshot.
