  1. Dr. Lloyd enters the third floor. It looks identical to the floor below it, but there's a dried blood pool on the hardwood floor, and there's glass broken nearby the window, which is open. The room is empty.
  2. Someone passes Julie the rag, and she examines it. The blood appears to be a few days old. You haven't gone upstairs yet.
  3. Officer Harrison takes the knife and bloody rag out of the bin with a clean rag. Setting it on the table, he examines the knife. It's about six inches long, the blade itself is silver, and it's cleaned. There's no traces of blood visable to the human eye. Dr. Lloyd picks up the garbage can, and rushes at the door. After a few hits, the door falls down. Farmer Alan picks up the receipt. The items appear to have been bought in a small town in Virginia, a week and a half ago. The person bought a toothbrush, toothpaste, a magazine, and a bar of soap. Outside, the storm stops.
  4. Valerie looks out the window. The storm rages on outside, but does show signs of letting up in a few minutes. Would anyone else like to go to the Department Store? Dolores picks up the radio. Besides the plug which provides it power, all other wiring appears to have been ripped out violently in a hurry to leave. This is most likely why it only picks up static. Julie looks inside the bin on the floor. There's several tissues, a receipt for a few toiletry items, a bottle of Whiskey, a knife, and a bloody rag. Simon and Dieter both charge at the door, but cannot knock it down, as it is a heavy wood door. Perhaps using an object would knock it down, or waiting for this mysterious "Ted" character.
  5. There isn't a way to access the cafe from this floor. There is also no lobby to this hotel, it's the Cafe.
  6. There's no loose floorboards in the room currently. Unless you're refering to the ones downstairs? The paper says: "Land at dawn." The key does not work with the door to the third floor. Harrison then looks across the way at the department store, something has just moved inside of it. The storm rages on outside. Harrison then polls the group, should they break down the door or stay here?
  7. Officer Fields counts seventeen people here. Those missing are the Congressman and Mayor Bradford. He then takes the note: "Ted- If you're reading this, you've found the key outside. Sorry I had to leave in a hurry. This odd lookin' guy left too, I didn't like him. His room was on the floor below you. Anyway, your door is locked, and you've got the key. There's only two keys to the room, and I got one of them, so if you lost yours that's tough luck. -Frank" Dolores checks the cabinets. There's a few articles of clothing. There's a few books on the shelf, as well as a few photographs of the town. The books include a few American classics. The station is tuned to static, as if the station doesn't exist anymore. Valerie checks underneath the rug. There's dust and a piece of paper.
  8. Officer Harrison instills courage into Officer Fields. Then, he looks out accross the street. The dog appeared to be barking at the Alabatha Department Store. King (the dog) belongs to Ralph and Valerie Jenkins. The group then heads upstairs and out of the rain. There is a door blocking the way to the third floor, with another note on the door. On the second floor, however, there's a bed, as well as a few cabinets, a radio, a few shelves, a bookcase, and a rug. The room appears to have been occupied, but abandoned during the general panic of the communists in town. There is the sound of creaking upstairs, and then the sound of a window breaking. The noise then stops. "Perhaps we should ride out the storm in here." Chief Phelps suggests. Before heading upstairs, Valerie checks the boxes in front of the hotel. There is a key to the upstairs, but that has already been found. There's nothing else useful in the boxes.
  9. Chief Phelps investigates the tree, which fell due to the wind. There isn't anything odd about it, and because of the force of the wind, it's not surprising that the tree fell. There is something odd behind it, but it's blown away as soon as it's noticed. It appeared to be a cardboard box. Chief Phelps hurries back to the hotel. Officer Fields hides a bit behind Officer Harrison. Fields, then suddenly getting a burst of courage, moves closer towards Ackerson and Cain, protecting them from danger. Officer Harrison then joins him, helping to protect them. Ralph opens the door to the upstairs using the key he found in the basement. "Shall we go inside?" Ralph asks. "Bark, Bark, Bark!" "What's wrong?" Valerie asks him. "Bark, Bark, Bark!" the dog continues. The dog is barking in the general direction of across the street. Shortly after, he ceases barking, as whatever was frightening him has gone. "What's wrong, King?" Ralph asks him, as the dog heads inside, out of the rain.
  10. It is a key. Ralph takes it with him, and presents it to the others. Tax papers are just a memo from President Truman about a potential increase in taxes to fund the Cold War. Nothing is out of place with these documents. The Congressman's near future has him at a House Un-American Committee meeting in a week to discuss the "Alabatha Situation". A few other pages appear torn out. It is at that moment that a tree in the park falls to the ground due to the wind. When everyone regains their senses, Judge Cain notices something. "Where is Mayor Bradford?" he asks.
  11. Patrick and Alan lower a ladder to help get Ralph up from the basement. Alan then goes down the ladder to aid Ralph up, but while down there he looks around the crates. A few of the crates are from his farm. Alan notices something shiny near the door to the basement. As Officer Harrison is walking towards the seaport, the storm begins to intensify, and the waves become rough as they hit the seawall. Because of this, it is impossible to investigate boating activity. Officer Harrison then looks at the door to the upstairs, it is locked. Officer Fields opens the briefcase. It belongs to the Congressman. Inside are a few important papers about taxes, his schedule planner, a small calender, and one roundtrip train ticket to Washington, D.C., scheduled for next week. It appears that the briefcase was dropped as the Congressman went missing. Ralph looks inside a few of the boxes, but finds only a few hotel and restaruant supplies. There appears to be something shiny nearby the door of the basement. Patrick, after letting down the ladder, looks around. Everyone else is present, and on edge. Once again, only the Congressman has gone missing. The footsteps have been washed away due to the storm. Julie examines the fountain. There's a statue of a Revolutionary Hero in the fountain, but there doesn't seem to be anything suspicious about the fountain. Closer inspection reveals nothing has been misplaced around the fountain, and the water doesn't seem to be from the fountain. Julie then returns to the Hotel to treat Ralph, who still hasn't climbed out of the basement. As thunder becomes louder and louder, and the storm intensifies, it would be wise to get inside. Perhaps inspecting a few of the boxes or items around the entrance to the Hotel would yield a result?
  12. Alan sees a ladder inside the cafe
  13. Patrick realizes that he could help Ralph. Furniture in the room was described already. Officer Fields gathers the briefcase. Ralph looks around the basement. There's boxes and other hotel/restaurant supplies.
  14. Officer Fields quickly rushes to follow the footprints. Nearby the fountain is a briefcase belonging to the Congressman. It starts to rain, washing away the footprints. Ralph ignores the note which warns about the stability of the room, and looks around the room. There's tables and chairs stacked up, as well as construction equipment. There key is not in the door frame, and as Ralph looks under a tarp, the loose floors collapse underneath him, sending him down into the basement. Ralph's arms begin to hurt after he hits the basement floor. "Help!" he calls. "Someone help my husband!" Valerie calls.
  15. Patrick snatches up the note from the door. He reads: "Ted- I've got your room ready for you and your wife on the third floor as always. I'll be leaving town for awhile though, and I suggest you don't stay too long either. You know where the key is, it's in the usual spot. We're also renovating, so it wouldn't be wise to step into the cafe. -Frank" Patrick scans the ground. There appear to be wet footprints heading towards where the Congressman was standing. Then the footprints double back until they dissapate due to the feet getting dry. Dr. Lloyd scans the streets. The Congressman isn't inside, and he's not visable on the street. Ralph breaks a window, much to the dismay of the police officers. He unlocks the front door, and lets others in. The floorboards in the cafe appear to be loose, and unstable. It wouldn't be wise for anyone to step inside the cafe. The door to the upper floors is next to them seperate from the cafe. There is no way to get upstairs via the cafe. The door to the upper floors is also locked. Thunder is heard in the distance, indicating a storm, which would wash away the footprints.
  16. There are no cars parked along side of the road, so Ralph peers inside the windows of the Cafe on the first floor, and sees construction equipment, as well as stacked tables and chairs. The lights are off, and there is no one inside. "I live in the hospital, where I have a room." Dr. Lloyd explains "The hospital isn't on the list yet for reasons." The Congressman explains. Chief Phelps pulls on the door to try to open it, but it doesn't budge. "It's locked." Phelps says. There's a piece of paper on the door. "Say...where's the Congressman?" Ian asks. "He was here a second ago." Matt says.
  17. The Alabatha Inn is the name of the hotel. It has three floors. There's a cafe on the ground floor, a room on the second floor, and another room on the third floor. The Hotel is owned by Franklin White, who fled town when it was announced that communists were in town. Officer Harrison then takes out a notepad and writes down the locations. "Let's see what others have to say before we go off investigating." the Congressman says. "If others agree with the hotel, then we shall go to the hotel."
  18. The building is next to the Town Hall on one side, and a hotel on the other side. Across the street is the Alabatha Department Store, the Hospital, and the Fire Department. "Excellent." Congressman Bob says. He gets up and leads the people out. They gather around the Congressman and the House Un-American Committee Investigator. "I've compiled a list of buildings in the town that we could investigate." Matt says. He reads it out loud. -Hotel -Alabatha Department Store -Fire Department -Alan Simmons’ Farm/Residence -Jenkins’ Residence -Jefferson Residence -Schneider Residence -Bradford Residence -Parker Residence -Town Hall/Police Station -Seaport "We've already investigated the Grocery Store earlier, so I excluded that from the list. Decide amongst yourselves where you'd like to go first." the Congressman says.
  19. Matt finds a cabinet filled with spices for sale nearby the fresh produce. There are no communists inside the cabinet. Patrick searches the cash register. There's a few bills inside the register, as well as coins. The cash register is heavy as Patrick lifts it, to deter theft. There's dust underneath it, as well as a few misplaced dollar bills, which were probably forgotten. Dolores checks out the items behind the counter. Dieter would be making breakfast sandwiches, as there are eggs, bread, and other supplies used to do so. There doesn't appear to be anything suspicious about the items, other than the jelly might be expired. The sandwiches should be prepared at this point as well. Dieter watches Patrick go through his cash register, ensuring that he doesn't steal anything. "Is everyone about ready to head out and begin investigations?" the Congressman asks.
  20. The bathroom stalls are clean, as well as the walls. There is nothing written anywhere in the bathroom, except for a reminder to wash your hands before returning to work. It would appear that there is nothing suspicious inside the bathroom. Those items aren't on the menu.
  21. From what you can see, there's a few boxes of food from reputable companies all over the United States. More towards the back, there's a door leading to the outside. Once again, there doesn't appear to be anything suspicious in the stockroom.
  22. Dieter's store has a black and white tile pattern on the floor. There's a few shelves all around the store filled with various gourmet items. Dieter would stand behind the cash register serving the people. Behind the register there's a few items which he'll use to prepare the orders. There's a door in the back of the room leading towards the stockroom. There doesn't appear to be anything suspicious inside the store.
  23. Chapter One has been posted. Good luck to all participants.
  24. Chapter One - Arrivals It was early morning in Alabatha, and the townsfolk had assembled in town just after sunrise, as ordered. In the distance, the roar of an engine was heard. It was Congressman Bob, driving in with a security agent, a congressional officer, and the House Un-American Committee Investigator. The car came to a halt outside the crowd, as the occupants started to climb out. "Good morning, Congressman." the mayor said, shaking his hand. "Hello." he said simply. He was not pleased to be here. The Congressman took the stage to begin a speech. "People of Alabatha." he began. "I come before you with less than pleasing news. Working with the Central Intelligence Agency as well as the House Un-American Committee, we have found evidence that two communist spies are currently living among you." He paused. "You should be warned. These spies are exceptionally gifted in their talents, having trained for years for the difficult objective of infiltration. They will be hard to catch indefinitely. However, the United States Government shall not abandon you. We shall aid you in finding these wretched people. I'd like to welcome Senior Investigator Matt Liebenston." The townsfolk clapped as the Investigator stepped off the platform to address the people. "I'm afraid to tell you that until we can positively identify the spies among you, we're forced to name all of you as suspects. Hopefully, as the investigation proceeds, we'll be able to remove some people from the suspect list. Until them, all property in this town is liable to search." "That's not legal!" a townsperson yelled. "What are you some kind of a communist? I happen to have a personal copy of the Constitution in my pocket, so I think I know what's legal and what's illegal." The Congressman stood watching from the podium, somewhat saddened by the investigations. Once the HUAC Investigator was finished, Dieter Schneider stepped forward with a suggestion. "Let's go have breakfast at my store." he suggested. "After that, we'll begin investigations." Liebenston said. The townsfolk headed off for Dieter's Grocery Store and Deli, in high spirits. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Characters: Government Workers Ian Bradford (Mayor) played by Walter Kovacs Will Ackerson (Town Councilman) played by iamded Alan Cain (Judge) played by JCC1004 Ryan Phelps (Police Chief) played by JimButcher Tim Fields (Police Officer) played by CallMePie Louis Harrison (Police Officer) played by Brickme --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Working Class Dieter Schneider (Chef) played by Shadows Simon Lloyd (Doctor) played by Burman Patrick Jefferson (Lawyer) Played by Professor Flitwick James Falzone (Dock Worker) played by CorneliusMurdock Julie “Princess” Parker (Nurse) played by The Crazy One Alan Simmons (Farmer) played by Fugazi -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Dolores Jefferson (Housewife) played by Def Gloria Jefferson (Student) played by Admiral Ron Stevie Jefferson (Student) played by Legonater Ralph Jenkins (Retired Salesman) played by Cralegoboy Valerie Jenkins (Housewife) played by Sok117 Matt Liebenston (HUAC Investigator) Played by Dragonator Reserves: -Captain Genero -Captain Becker -Capt.JohnPaul -Mrlegoninja -Peanuts (Borrowed partly from Dragonator’s Mystery Manor) 1. There are 18 participants. If you commit to the game you are committing to contributing to the story and sticking with it to the end. I am trusting you all not to drop out halfway through, as that is never any fun. 2. You must search for clues. This means that an action must be specified. For example, you wish to search a room for hidden objects. The following is an example of how not to go about this: "I wish to look for suspicious or hidden objects in this room". Instead, you must be able to specify what you want to do. For example: "I would like to open the drawers of the cabinet." It is not required for you to specify exactly what you are doing and what you are looking for, but a generalized statement will not find you anything. Act like a detective and you will be fine. 3. This game is meant to be fun, so enjoy yourselves! 4. Please be patient with me between chapters, I will try to put up the chapter topics as quickly as possible, but, this might not be so all the time. 5. Please try to avoid editing your posts, as it can lead to suspicion against you. Just consider what you want to say before you say it, and you'll be fine. 6. Please remember that this is the early 1950’s. No iPods, digital cameras, cell phones, printers, computers, fax machines, or otherwise. No events past the current date either, or else people will view you as insane. 7. I won’t keep you in a certain room if you don’t want me too. You’ll always have the option of backtracking or researching the same place. 8. The host is usually always right. If you think I’ve made an error, then please discuss this in the discussion thread or feel free to PM me. 9. Failure to follow these rules will result in a warning. A second failure will result in the death of your character. 10. Remember that although a chapter has ended, that doesn’t mean that the day has concluded, and night actions can be used. 10b. There are also chapter actions. Those of you with chapter actions have the ability to use them at the end of each chapter. 11. No Metagaming please. Also, don’t base suspicions on how the person looks. Rules may be added or deleted as the game goes on based on game play. 12. This is the 1950’s, the middle of the Cold War. You’re under constant worry of potential nuclear Armageddon, so act like it. The Communists are your enemies in this game, don’t forget that. Also, anytime historical facts from the 1950’s are brought in is a big plus. Please everyone note that The Legonater is currently "Taking a Break" Good luck!
  25. Ugh. I hate this. I'm not sure who to vote for, honestly. If it's between the bums, I'd vote for: Vote: Sean / Sok117 Mostly because you were named in the note.
