Trouble in the Streets of Gotham: Bloodbath Signup!
Zepher replied to Shadows's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Richard! Richard is the ultimate super-hero. Super-strong, can fly, confident, good with the ladies, heavily opinionated about subjects he doesn't understand and refuses to research, and stubborn! Pipeline bursted?! He'll fly in, beat it up a little, and explain to the good people this is why you don't pollute, because he's had it up to here! Cat stuck in a tree? He'll bring that kitty down, but he's hoping you'll lend him an ear so he can explain how awful it is that you didn't vote this election! Stove not starting?! He'll start it up, but be ready for a lecture about how there isn't green house gases! Sound floppy-floppy? Richard doesn't care! Richard just wants to prove that Richard is right, even though he's normally not! Richard's weaknesses include people who speak quietly, because he is unable to hear them and feels awkward. He has bad hearing, because he YELLS SO OFTEN! GOOOOOOOOOO RICHARD! OoC: I apologize for the picture. It will be retaken tomorrow with better lighting! I just didn't want to miss the fun. -
Mixture! Just tell me some of your favorite buildings!
-
Interesting question for EVERYONE (but particularly Sandy and WBD). What is the architecture of Eubric? How do you build buildings? What were you favorite builds in Eubric? Link to them for me, I've begun building the city for Quest #Final Wren Quest, and I want to make the architecture look consistent and like what people have liked in the past. EVERYONE, kindly think back to some of your favorite Eubric buildings, and tell me what they looked like/link to them.

Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job
Zepher replied to Scubacarrot's topic in The Heroica Archive
"Well, dear, if you remember to feed the dog, perhaps we'll get you a slave of your own as well. But I don't want it dying, and Helvetia knows that Rover's been on death's doorstep more than once." Boomingham rolls his eyes for the guards benefit. Rover? Where was that name from again? "Kids, am I right? Say, where are these fellows from? I like to make sure my girl here interacts with worldly people, further her brain and what not. I'm Barty, by the way." Boomingham offers his hand. -
Hope no one minds an NPC stopping by the Hall. He's just here to hype up Wren a little, and fill in a bit of information that people will need before the quest starts, and because I enjoy writing for him. It's happened before, right? I'm not breaking all the rules?
-
The doors to the hall creak open slightly and a silly looking figure makes his way in, quietly. He is clutching a purse of money. He shanties up to the bar and tosses a few coins down. His voice quivers as he orders a drink. "Erm... one... wine or something. Or a beer maybe. Do you have any rum? Rum would be nice. Some fiery rum." His voice grows in confidence as he orders. He slips the purse into a pocket. "So, how does one become a hero? Would one not be allowed to be a hero if one stole, do you think? What if it was from the rich and for the poor, erm, assuming that ones self was the poor person in that situation." Johnny Everyman laughs. "Crazy things on the streets of Eubric, now-a-days, am I right? Man, you think you've got rumors?! Just wait until I start telling these poor saps my stories. Boy, is it getting cold out there, or is that just me? I hear there's a storm a-comin', too." He chuckles again. Johnny Everyman has entered the hall. He would like to gossip, if anyone is interested.

Awesome! Super excited for this quest. It's an homage to a genre I gotta love.

Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job

"Actions of the past have ramifications and rewards. That's the point." Boomingham says to the party in general, though Atramor is no longer there. He marches off towards the guard at the bottom of the wooden structure to the left, waving his hand for Ellaria to follow him. -

"The slaves of Eubric are a different matter. They are the spoils of war. They are serving a punishment. This is different." "Regardless, yes, we need to find out information. As soon as we hear if Purple has any insight, I'll move your plan ahead. You and I will pose as customers, and ask where the slaves are from. The rest of you should see if you can ask anything of the crowd." -

Boomingham chews on his cheek. "I'm no supporter of the slave trade... but for the mission, we simply can't have any of us marked." He glances at Nyx. "Doesn't matter how strong the person is, I'll not have any of my team hunted. And I don't know how much these slaves go for. I... I'd like to buy all of them, but that doesn't seem possible either. My funds simply won't allow it. Perhaps we could listen for a short while, see how much people bid? Are we really not allowed to talk to the slaves in the pen? Seems like a silly rule to me. Zoe, what exactly do you expect us to do here? You guys brought us to a ancient temple last night, how about you repay us by tossing out some ideas. I say, worse comes to worse, we toss a smoke bomb into the crowd, and then one of us with one of those high power bombs... what are they called again, tosses one of those at the Archer and tower. Hopefully that will come toppling down, and in the distraction we can make off with the slaves. If something goes wrong... you blame it on me, attack me, and turn me over to the authorities. That should be an in for you, and will at least clear your names." -

OoC: I love the stone and wood work on the building! Awesome technique. Boomingham growls his customary growl. "Alright, so attack is out of the question. What does that leave us to work with? We need to figure out if these are men of the Watch, else we're wasting out time." Boomingham glances at Ellaria. "Not that I think saving slaves would be a waste of time, but we don't seem able to do it... unless... well, I can't think of a way of saving them without being wanted, and we can't be. I can't imagine Psuedo's going to be a fan of this as my first act under his watch." Boomingham screws his eyes shut. "Alright, spit ball, anyone got any ideas?" -
Hybros has grown or Cinna has shrunk.
-
Perhaps Cinna will be kind and talk to Thothwick about her sighting. Sandy. What can I say? You started the game and remain the master of it. 44 was superb in every way. I have peppered praise throughout the entire course of your hosting the quest... but I'll try to surmise it here. The Norns were awesome, the inclusion of the veterans superb, the Dragon was a great inclusion, and I'm glad we got to continue with out of the longest story-lines of Heroica (the Ziegfrieds and their curse). What wasn't to love? Guts is a superb character, Nerwen really shone, and I have to say of all the newbies, Thalion really caught my eye. Can't wait to see what those players (and everyone else) continues to contribute. I was also pleased to see Benji develop a little - he's always seemed sort of quiet to me, but his choices in this quest, along with his clashes with Guts, really started to define him!

"Well, here's hoping you join me in my blessing, but I think it's time that we move out. I want to see this city and what it holds. I've got a god to serve now, and I will be his eyes and ears." Boomingham spits into the empty air. "This god promised my deeds would bring fame. Let us add another title to my name. I say let's get off to the slave market. All ready? Good." Boomingham rubs his forehead and blinks rapidly. "A night without sleep is killer. Feel like there's a pressure in my head." -
The one thing I feel money-making classes should feel obligated to do with their money is invest in Phoenix Essences. The healing and shield classes keep the money-makers from going down in battle, the money-makers should be able to get the others up. That's my only two-cents on the whole money-making/loot distribution debate.
-
Shhhhh, let me have my misconceptions about the religions of Olegia. I apologize if Guts was offended by my lack of knowledge. So many religions to keep up with. And then there are the those "real world" ones to try to educate myself about as well.
-
Yeah, that's the part of Guts I see. The snippy short responses, no nonsense... that's all Guts. Old war veteran who protects his friends but is still a little jaded... that's Boomers. He's actually pretty harsh and mean and violent too. He just hides it under silliness and drinking and smiles. EDIT: Also interesting; Guts and Boomers have a lot in common that I don't think they share with Sarge. They both look out for their friends to a fault, and they both care about the little man. And now they are the only two to serve their God. And all three are stubborn.
-
You know, it's interesting. Sarge reminds me much more of Boomingham than he reminds me of Guts, though I see the similarities with Guts as well. Guts - equally likely to deliver an epic speech or a dismissive one liner.

Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job

Boomingham grins and rolls his shoulders back. "My new god has already done more for me than Ennoc!" he calls out into the darkness. Fishing around in his satchel, he produces his Dress Uniform, and drapes it over his shoulders, under his cape. Boomingham then turns to his party "Everyday I get closer," he tells them. His easy grin has returned to his face. "I say we head off to the slave market first, just as soon as you're all ready. Just give a holler that you're good to go, and then... onward and upwards, my friends. Onwards and upwards." -
Hestia must be some form of Super Druid or something? To bring all those people back to life? That's the only one I can think of.

Heroica RPG - Quest #40: The Strivvian Job

OoC: I think that we can move along. I can't see either of them siding with Pseudos, and if they'd like to they can declare it later on if need be... unless its about to significantly effect game play. -
No, I figured it out. Though Sandy will PM me the information that she wants in the Index, I rarely change entries unless QM using the characters sends me information. That being said, the NPC index is on pause until Friday when I'll have a break for nine days. Then I'll finish up Dastan and insert all the quests that are currently missing.
-
Zoot already existed when I pitched the first Wren quest, though he was not yet public. I believe she always intended this, what with the way the city was headed. I think he's someone that it would be important for Cinna to notice. Awesome ending to the quest, Sandy. Don't know if I can find them all... or at least, if I can, I can't match up the names exactly. By my count, a number of them have appeared in previous quests... if I'm right about who they are.
-
We'll just have to see. Why don't you let the story take you, and not cheat and beg for information here! Isn't it more exciting to sit on the edge of your seat? I find that exciting at least. I think quests where heroes can die would be AWESOME... the QM would probably have to warn of it in the sign-ups though. And it would be a special breed of player who was willing to go. EDIT: Ugh, and let me just say it agin, gotta love Guts. Unpredictable characters are the best. Guts is clearly three-dimensional in some of the coolest ways.
-
Sandy and I don't actually need to coordinate too much, because we talk about Heroica so much we just end up doing the same things. I knew, for example, that there was a Dragon floating around under Eubric for.... well, over half a year now? Just about. And that's just one example. Now that we're seeing them on the same quest, Skrall and Boomingham remind me a lot of each other. Too bad one of them is horribly racist. And yeah, it's hard to not respond to thoughts. Poor Boomingham thinks he and Ellaria get along really well. Another great example of IMPORTANT roleplay. This is why the game gets stronger - players allow character relationships to grow. Arthur and Haldor fought about a similar issue, but Nerwen and Guts already know each other, so they act differently together. EDIT: Holy crap! Chromeknight, Scuba, that was beautiful. I just read it all (hadn't fully caught up yet). Really really superb. Such strong characters, discussing such strong things, drawing on backstory and past experience in the game that we've seen. Thothwick always has lovely interjections as well. This is one of the saddest quest endings. It does feel like a loss. Congrats, Sandy, for pulling at the heart strings.
