  1. Boomingham sighs. "I always thought Umbra and I had an understanding." Suddenly a little voice appears in his ear. "Look up, you dolt. Stop worrying about the ladies. They will never like you." Barty, hitherto invisible so that he could keep an eye and ear on everything, now floats next to Boomingham. The large Lord's gaze travels upwards, hoping to spy whoever's hand is holding the extra wine glass on the balcony level.
  2. NPCs and Boomingham never get along. Boomingham doesn't know the Jei Pi, and he can't think of a good excuse to hand them gloves without causing a panic. Perhaps he'll hand them off to Zelda. She has shown manners, at least.
  3. Boomingham isn't the most trust worthy.... Sorry Flipz, he just kind of admires Umbra's spunk. And, as always, he has his own agenda for the evening.
  4. Boomingham sips at the wine that Lorcan offers him, and is pleased to find it poison free. The little man may be a scoundrel, but he was the closest thing to a friend in power that Boomingham had. "Gentlemen, you'll have to excuse me. Mumbassa, if I do not see you again this evening, I will meet you at the docks tomorrow for a tour of your fabulous ship. Sea travel makes me seasick, but I can still appreciate a beautiful boat when I see one." Boomingham excuses himself from the table and scuttles around the party a little. He arrive next to Nyx and Thothwick only shortly. "Divide yourselves up. We must speak to everyone here. Ignore that nasty Maitre d'. Nyx, perhaps you would do well to speak to that blue lady who came in, Jei Pi I assume." Boomingham smiles. "I don't read much, but I did a little research on the houses before we arrived. Thothwick, you'd better speak to either of the U'Kin. I think you mentioned meeting some in Dastan. The last one I met gave me a headache. Damn accountants. Swifthorn never did track me down with a job offer. Oh, and if any danger happens, make sure that Umbra gets a sword in her hands, she can use it." Boomingham himself continues his trajectory across the Theatre, stopping only for a moment to talk to the Maitre d'. "Chap, I respect your job, you've got to respect ours. We're trying to keep these people safe without causing a panic. Please tell your people to bring me some mulled wine if they're refusing me mead. Trust me, it is allowing me greater leverage with these people. Everyone is willing to talk over a drink." Boomingham scampers next towards Umbra. "My dearest, I hope there are no hard feelings over our match in the warehouse. I respected you greatly then, and do so now. It is a great honor to meet you once more, I was hoping we might get the chance. I'm sure you found, upon further inspection, that we didn't actually take anything that belonged to your family. I personally didn't allow it, though that Imp I was with tried to. I have always thought of us as friendly rivals, you match my sword well, and I yours. I hope that you will be willing to dance with me at some point tonight, either with sword or in the more conventional sense. Here, take these gloves of mine as a sign of friendship, they'll compliment your outfit wonderfully." Before the beautiful young lady can get in a word edgewise, Boomingham hands her the sterile gloves that Arthur loaned him, and walks away once more. He comes to stand next to Zelda. He bows deeply and attempts to kiss her wrinkled old hand. "Greetings, my dear. I have heard a thing or two about you from a number of friends, but have never had the pleasure of meeting you myself. My name is Lord Lawrence Boomingham of the Lost Kingdom. This is quite a brood you have here. Tell me, what do you think of the evening so far?"
  5. Flipz is clearly trying to endanger the Ji Pei. They could have been far away and safe, and he dragged them into it. Damn mage.
  6. Boomingham grins at Lorcan. "I don't trust mages much either, to be honest. As for the Guffington character... perhaps I'll have to acquaint myself with him." Boomingham watches as Lorcan raises his glass. "I've already explained to Mumbassa, but my people have a custom of allowing their friends take the first sip of their drink. It's strange, I know, but if you'd be so kind..." Goldraum stumbles over to the table, followed by his wife. "Apparently something different than what I've been doing. Do sit down, sir. I'm afraid we've never met. Lord Lawrence Boomingham. How are you?" Boomingham glances over at the newest commotion and sees a familiar face. He flags down Umbra. "An old sparring mate. How are you, dear?" Boomingham turns to Lorcan. "Should be a fun evening."
  7. WBD is just showing off how clever and well read he is. I think I can figure out most of them. I hope you know you'll be obligated to explain every one of those puns at the end of the quest, though.
  8. Forgot Pongcanis and Bugbears.
  9. But were-people can't be condensed, because they all have their own cultures. It may just be a taste thing, I'm just saying, I'd rather see an expansion on some of them other than everyone using a new race as a crutch to create a new exciting character. Make the character interesting, don't just invent a new race.
  10. Oh, I agree no doubt, but there are still a MASSIVE number of species. I'm guilty too, I've invented more than my fair share. I'm just saying I'd like to see the ones that we already have further developed, and maybe lay off the new species for a short while. Think about lots of good fantasy (classical or modern, high or low) and think about how many species really live in them. Then think about how many we have. Not trying to be a Negative Nancy, just thought I'd throw it out there! Doesn't mean stop inventing either!!! We have, by the off of my head count: Humans, Elves, Dwarves, Gnomes, Grumpkins, Proggs, Were-(Lions, Gators, Lizards, Bats [assuming that's what Riley is], Wolves, Ravens, Turtles, Newts, Panthers, Alligators (again, different than the other were alligators)), Vampires, Were-Wolves (different than other werewolves), U'Kin, Naga, Dragons, Orcs, Ogres, Trolls, Giants, Imps, Halflings, whatever Ratabor is, whatever Dek'ra is, Rito, Moonelves, Undead, Fairies, Witches (appear to be sort of a race?), Aoi, Sharklings, Norns, Fenerian, Acerpulseum, Metasimian, Rocklings, Sayyips, Lucustoids, Phibians, as well as intelligent Frogs, Crabs, Dogs, Pigs, Chickens, Goats... and that's just off the top of my head. Would it really be so bad to expand on one of those races instead of making up a new one? That's not even counting some of the "one offs" we've seen so far. I know, as I said, I'm guilty too, but I'd love to see us expand on those before we go any further with other races!
  11. Yeah, I was leaving for dinner so forgot to mention both the Proggs and Norns as well.
  12. A New Orleans accent, WBD? Perfect. I'm actually reading Confederacy of Dunces right now- you've nailed the accent, and it is beyond perfect for the character. I have to say, there are a HUGE number of species in Heroica. It gives it a sort of sci-fi feel, I don't know how I feel about it. I think an introduced species should at least be expanded on a little (WBD, you ALWAYS do that, so don't take that as a slight to you). Sandy, the only complaint I have about ANY of your pictures ever is the alien and patrick... they don't fit Heroica at all to me ascetically, but perhaps that's just me. There are a huge number of species I love (both as a species and ascetically). I particularly love the ones invented for the story itself: Nagas, The Aoi, Grumpkins, Were-Lions, U'Kin and Acers (tooting my own horn a little bit) are some of my favorites. I laughed, I won't lie.
  13. It's almost as if I read/pay attention to those quests I host. You said something good, you can be damn sure my characters will remember it (for the most part). Thothwick is another character who said something very important that will shape one of my future quests... but I don't know if he remembers it.
  14. It makes me so giddy to make fun of my own characters with my characters. I purposely avoid interaction when I can, but sometimes it just doesn't make sense. To date, Boomingham has made of Wren every time anyone has mentioned her and Chaos to him, Boomingham and Everyman both ridiculed each other's names, and now Boomers and Guffy get to meet. I don't know why I personally find it so funny, but I sure as hell do.
  15. She always makes her way back, never fear. Unless Thothwick makes it an impossible environment for her.
  16. Boomingham winks at Lorcan. "Who says I'm not a distinguished guest? How has Olegia been treating you, chap?" He offers the rowdy boy a seat. "Ah look, the Wizarding clan. What do you think of the batch, Mumbassa? Lorcan? I fear I'm only familiar with their children, who, perhaps not shockingly, have remained at home for the evening. And do either of you know anything about the man with the goofy hat? Anyone we should be inviting to drink with us?" Boomingham sips his own wine. "Lorcan, will you be having something to drink tonight? Surely you must!" Boomingham watches as the red haired man (Goldraum) teeters a little. "Chappo, need a table to sit at and people to mingle with? Come join us!" I love the hat for Guffington.
  17. Ah, a wife then! That's what I need!
  18. Yes, well I imagine that you also have an income of some sort. That's what I'm missing! It won't stop me though. Chima is getting bought for sure (those lion figures are beautiful, and I need a Wereraven). I'm going to try MOCing again for the first time in a long time, too, so I need some nice castle parts. And I want to order Scupperer (Scuba, I blame you for that purchase).
  19. Sharklings are great. I wish I had the parts for Gurnam so badly. I've never used bricklink before... bit I might have to over the summer.
  20. I'm willing to break anyone with SP, doesn't matter who it is! Guffington II will be a fun ride, and y'all can be there if you're all around!
  21. Guffington is also unfortunately only 4. I wish I could include more, but for very specific reasons, Russel can't be expanded, and I'm kind of tuckered out of large parties.
  22. Plans change. Oh, you know.... maybe someone has been planning one for a while...... The party for Russel II will only be three heroes. But yes, there is a battle built for Docken. Everyone really wants him to go Guffington, but I'd be very happy for him to come fight the battle I built for him - it's really if you like puzzles or battle strategy more! And JimBee, I've stated Guffington II will be far more puzzle based. The last one was entirely battles... this one, not so much.
  23. Guffington II has to wait, because Guffington is walking towards a party in a Theatre currently.
  24. I maintain that 53 had more than enough loot. Nearly everyone got a unique powerful item at some point - there shouldn't be more than one per person per quest, and even then, maybe not EVERYONE should get one per quest. I should have dropped a lot more gold though. This quest will have a lot more gold.
  25. I have sent the pitch for the second Russel Quest to Sandy. It will (hopefully) be posted tomorrow, with sign-ups ending mid-May. It will involve very difficult battles and a quite a few puzzles. If people are interested in strategizing, I hope to see you there. And Sandy, just because I haven't said it yet: I love Mumbassa. Forget the other directives, my new goal of this quest is to absolutely keep him alive. He's also a great character design.
