  1. We've done it in the past. I was playing Barty as effected by Baba. If you think the battle would be impossible that way... let's say that bomb I wasted jarred him back to full form. But, if that's the case, let's have a little bit of fun roleplaying it!
  2. I think we all are. And Sandy, this is going to be a wicked wicked battle. I'm hoping we survive.
  3. OoC: I don't think my inspired is being taken into account. Also, for the purposes of this battle IF YOU CONSENT, Guardian Angel should have a 50/50 chance of being sentinel. Also, Steerpike should probably only be immune to negative effects, if he's immune to all effects, his second special won't do much good. Boomingham can say nothing to his allies. Barty drifts by him and shudders. Boomingham smacks him, and the angel awakens, though apparently he is still groggy. He stares at the hypnotic singer. Boomingham swings Scupperer at Remus from the front row. Battle Order Boomingham Nyx Thothwick
  4. Well, I did lob the bomb before they all stood up, but I stand by it. I'm ready for some action.
  5. I'm trying here!
  6. I have most everyone who is important to any of my quests floating around my room at home. I've deconstructed a few for parts... especially when they die. I also have a monstrously hard time keeping track of Poletad because he's so small. That is a LOVELY picture, Sandy. And I agree, Patricia makes it. Boomingham is never subtle! Just read the opening of 28. Besides, at this point we know that bombs don't kill people unless they've got about 10 hp... and he's making the gamble that everyone has more than that.
  7. "Well, it isn't Steerpike. But I don't like it." Boomingham glances around at his companions. They of course have their ears plugged, so can't hear his direction or concern. Barty seems to have not quite made it to the other party goers, but hangs eerily in the air, drifting sort of aimlessly. Boomingham tries to swat at him, but he is out of reach. "Oh, enough of this. We were told to protect these people. Clearly this woman does not have the good of the party at heart." Boomingham rips his sword out of its sheath, gulps down his mulled wine, and tosses his military grade fire bomb at the stage.
  8. As far as witches go, Wren was just a youngin'. I have no doubt Baba will be much more terrifying! And yes, I've actually given it a lot of thought, and I don't think we can call Heroica Psuedo anything anymore. With so many authors, it doesn't really fall into any category - in fact, the rules of their world are so radically different you have to wonder about it. They have robots, potions, magic, more races than can be counted, magical artifacts are a rule rather than an exception, they know about their universe, they have a number of pantheon of gods that are all accepted, their understand of economics seems to be quite advanced, there is rarely if ever any reference to actual family lineage as a right of passage of rule... its a very different and complex system, which is wonderful. The world has specific rules, but they're not from any one genre or any one other universe.
  9. Someone's gotta do it!
  10. OoC: You can wait for Pandora, but based on our (many) previous quests together, I'd be willing to bet a fair amount of gold that she'd follow Boomingham's lead. Boomingham growls. "Thothwick, chap, you've gotta to do as I say for at least a day." Boomingham attempts to stuff the wax into Thothwick's ear if he can. "I am an angel of Ennoc, a bright light in a dark world, sent to try to steer this poor man into a more righteous direction so that he may be made-" The rest of Barty's response is cut off by Boomingham's whacking his hands over the Black Knight's ears. Boomingham glances over at Umbra, at Lorcan, and at Zelda Zeigfried. He tries to warn them that something is coming with his eyes, raising an eyebrow and cupping his hands over his ears. "Barty, go tell Zelda to cover her ears. See if you can get to Umbra as well. Oh, and for the love of the gods, cover your own little ears as well, just in case." Boomingham rips the cork off of his nostrum and downs it as a final precaution, and then stands stock still, staring at the stage, hand on sword. OoC: Please note also that I drank a mead pages and pages ago.
  11. Boomingham grabs the wax. "Onwards and upwards. Either this is a trap, or the boy is helping us." Boomingham scrutinizes the boy for a second or two. "Dark magic, Lawrence." "Oh, I just want to stop hearing you talk. If it were a trap he wouldn't have come to us." Boomingham stuffs some of the wax into both of his ears. "You two as well. Time to trust me. Thothwick, Nyx, we may finally be seeing some action. Hope for the best."
  12. Boomingham stumbles backwards a little, still feeling a little buzzed from the drink. He steadies himself and looks down at the short (full grown) man. "Alright then, staying here. What's your story, boy-o? Speak up." Barty bursts quietly into visibility at Boomingham's ear. The angel finally greets Nyx and Thothwick. "Good day to you, Nyx, Thothwick. Sorry you've had to deal with this buffoon of a man alone thus far, he thought it would be smart to keep me invisible for surveillance but all I saw was him making an megablocks out of himself." "What do you want, Barty?" "Listen to Thothwick. Be careful with this boy. He has the smell of dark magic on him." Boomingham rests his hand on his sword, but other than that stands back and lets Thothwick investigate.
  13. Boomingham stares at the small man. "How did you get in here?" Boomingham watches as Thothwick accepts the wax. "I hope you know what you're doing, Thothwick." Boomingham glances over at the golum. He seems a little... anxious... This is a new emotion for him. Boomingham walks over to him. "What's going on in the kitchen? I've got comrades in there."
  14. Hey, maybe I'll finally get to go on an Endgame quest? When are you thinking of hosting them? It'd be fun for Karie and Boomers to meet, actually.
  15. Hey, Alexis is the one who poured the nostrum. I say, to each their own. I also don't try to stiff ogres and orcs too much. I DO always fight from the front row unless its obviously idiotic, and place myself ALWAYS in the front of the battle order, unless it absolutely destroys the strategy of the round... and then only sometimes do I cave. Sandy: I addressed the Shadeuax last page, don't know if you saw it (there have been a few updates since then, usually I don't mention it, but wanted to make sure you saw!).
  16. Yes, I remember it well. You certainly spiced up the game, just didn't do it well for me. I was confused and angry at the town for not lynching the SK, and blindly following Belinda, and at Belinda for selling my role, but you did have probably the best ploy of all time. We've already discussed my issues with it and your attitude, but overall, great game, def. Thanks for the game, Hinck. My lynch frustrated me, and I have to admit that I didn't suspect there would be a bodyguard and protector, so if I had lived we would have lost a townie anyway in that lynch. I had a feeling about Rutherford and Langston and Timly most game, but had nothing of substance. Barty and Lulu, my hat is off to you. I would have never pegged you two (three!) as scum. For those interested, sign-ups for the next Mafia, hosted by little ol' me for the first time in a long time, should go up in the next few days.
  17. That's how Jebs rolls. And I give Sandy full credit for Barty. One line in the Training Room created his whole character.
  18. I love Hoke. I've said it every time I've hosted him and interacted with him in character. He's just great. He is gimmick-less, and it works perfectly. Hell, it's almost a gimmick with all these other gimmicks flying around. I'd agree with CMP, perhaps have him voice his thoughts a bit more, and show what stuff rattles him/pushes his buttons (even the calmest of people, and I suggest keeping him calm, have subjects that make them angry/uncomfortable, and things that they object to).
  19. She has too much to do. Perhaps when all my stories are done, but that's a long time to wait.
  20. What if I hated your character while I was OoC, but liked you OoC and my character liked your character. How complicated would that be? A vain attempt to be remembered is how Boomingham has to die. That's his literal goal. The cemetery battle remained one of my favorite moments. Nyx went down in such a fantastic way with Atramor watching (great character moment) and then it was just Thothwick and Atramor left at the end (great character moment) and then XX showed up and got to see Nyx (great character moment).
  21. My only goal in this game (beyond Mumbassa's survival) is to win the approval of Sandy/Guts NPCs (and PCs), none of which like me.
  22. In later Sandy quests, I think I will option deaths. I've said it many times, but if a QM thinks that they could kill off Boomingham or even maim him in a way that would be fitting to him, I'd happily accept it. But its gotta be a good reason.
  23. Then why has she never been in any of our parties? Private trips don't count as quests. That'd be pretty funny, if every once in a while a Veteran just surprised everyone and came on a quest.
  24. I think one of the important things when considering Veterans would be having people of different temperaments. The current veterans seem diverse, and lead lives beyond Heroica. I think that'd be important. Guts would certainly be a veteran. But you'd need calmer people there too. Thalion would be good (level-headed, magic user, elvish) and then you'd need Skrall (old geezer, also level-headed, part of a minority). A lady for sure, probably Nyx. Maybe even Docken so that some things could get done. Arthur for his town watch affiliation? It's interesting that all the Veterans lead daily lives not directly tied to Heroica, while the heroes don't do anything BUT work as heroes. I wonder how the Veterans feel about never going on quests anymore. I wonder why they don't, or if they do and we just don't hear about it.
  25. JimBee! Very good quest. The battles seemed well balanced, and excluding that one against the Rock Golem, seemed well paced (particularly the last battle, that parasite was a extremely interesting mechanic). The end obviously dragged, but it seemed like just IRL stuff, and not like you hadn't prepared enough. Those dragons are beautiful. Glad someone revisited Dastan (I'll be there again in the Winter I think, and might end up taking Hybros and Docken along, which would be interesting). You did a great job. Thanks also for including Ella and I.
