Heroica RPG- Quest #68: A Night at the Theatre

OoC: Magical Vortex for the wizard does NOT cost ether. The normal magic burst does not either. And you're right... no one ever divided the loot up from last battle, so I'll stick it in Atramor's inventory for now. Finally, and I'm letting it ride for this round because I TOTALLY FORGOT TO MENTION IT, but Ellaria should be the PL this battle. Round 1 Act III >Althior uses Phoenix Essence on Tesni Soldier B v. the King's Wizard (No Effect, 1- ether Althior) >Tesni gives Magic Mirror to Atramor >Atramor accepts Magic Mirror >Ellaria uses Scroll of Inspiration on Atramor - Failure (-10 ether Ellaria) >Russel v. King's Ghost - Shield/Damage (40/2-4=16 damage to Atramor) Free Hits King's Head Guard v. Althior Atramor - ([30/2]-4=11) ([27/2]-20=0 damage) The party prepares for the upcoming battle. Althior rushes to Tesni's side and gets her back up on her feet as his Soldier parries with the Wizard. Tesni and Atramor exchange the Magic Mirror, and Ellaria attempts to read off her scroll, but gets flustered as the enemy clearly stares directly at her. Russel attempts to parry with the King, but Everyman, possessed or whatever he is, proves too great a match and drives Russel back. Atramor steps in to defend his little friend. The two guards turn and advance on Ellaria. "You are their leader," they chant. "Cut off the head of the snake." Heroica RPG- Quest #68: A Night at the Theatre

While the boys argue, Ellaria grips the dagger that she can hardly feel and plunges it into Tesni's chest. The dagger across the way flies through Everyman and disappears with a puff of smoke, and while Ellaria's does the same, not so much piercing the armor or the flesh of the powerful Barbarian from the north... Tesni drops hard. Ellaria crotches and feels Tesni's pulse. It is there, but weak, and it is clear that she will not be doing anything anytime soon. The skeletal guard steps forward, and another appears next to him, this one more smokey and blue, more ghost like. Even Everyman appears to have wisps of fog around him, and his eyes glow a strange light blue. OoC: Sorry, pictures tomorrow, ran out of sunlight today! Arthur (Flipz) Arthur is one of the heroes in the Hall with the most convoluted and complicated past... so I'll just try to hang onto the basics. Arthur is one of the most intensive personalities in the Hall. He is obsessive over his ideas, and often has in the past attempted to push them onto others. He talks for long periods of time about the things that he believes in, and is prone to speech giving. Arthur could, in some senses, be considered close-minded, though in truth he pays attention to all pleas and is at the very least interested in all other views on subjects. He is also recognized as a brilliant strategist. Arthur is a scroll mage, an adequate field for him considering his stride for knowledge. For a long time, Arthur was dogged by his past and his ties to Chaos, but as of late he seems to have let those two things go, moving forward and embracing order. For a short time, he also seemed willing to throw his life away, but he has (perhaps?) come back from that edge. Arthur maintains good relationships with a number of heroes - Dyric and Dek'ra are chief among his friends (the first only recently, the second for a long time). Arthur is one of the most hopeful heroes in the hall: not in his demeanor, but from an audience's perspective. He embodies the human experience: he is stubborn, he is pig-headed, forceful, ambitious, obsessive, aggressive... but even with all these negative traits, he still is at his heart a learner - he has infinite admiration for new and exciting knowledge. He is able to synthesize the things he learns, and actively uses them to improve himself.

CMP, I wish I had the head for that new Merc of yours. He's a cool character... as all of your character tend to be.

Mafia Mafia - Confirmation and Discussion
Zepher replied to Zepher's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Please change the day title to "Lynch Lunch Hour". Don't know why my brain farted. Thank you to Walter Kovacs, def and Kristel for playing in my game. By far the toughest part of hosting is seeing players who were excited to host leaving the game one way or another. I'm not a fan of writeboards and have never started one, but if you'd like to, you're more than welcome. -
The sun continues to not rise or set in the great Mafia Plane. The cop stares out a window on the wrong side of the facade. "No one will think to look for the rule abiding Cop on the side Zepher told us not to go onto," he says confidently to himself. "Soon, everything the sun touches will be yours," says another voice, and then suddenly the Cop has a ax-scythe in his back. The next morning, the town gathers to hear the verdicts of the night and the previous day. "The Serial Killer," says Zepher," was a member of the town. Furthermore, so was the Cop. We lost two townies." "Boooo," says Pete a few time in different pitches, attempting to do his job of making the crowd noises. "Oh noz!" hollers the First-Day Lynch. "Look who 1s swimming with the plants nows!" The Vanilla Townie had been buried up to her his it's neck. Also, its neck had been separated from its body. All eyes turn to Candice. "That one was town too." "Wait, if you don't need to eat us to know our affiliation, then don't you know everyone's side right now?" asks the puzzled Female Lover. "Yes," says Candice. "But I'm only able to eat lynches, because of my biology, so I need to let the game play out." "Oooooh!" says Pete a few times. "Now, get to finding scum." says Zepher, dropping the head. The Rules 1 Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Town or the Scum. To win the game, the Town must kill off all the Scum and the SK, while the Scum must outnumber the Town. Any Third-Party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined below. 2 Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. The player with the most lynches will be lynched. You may only unvote once a day. 3 A game day will last for about 72 hours. Whoever has the most votes at the end of the day will be lynched. The TWO players with the most votes at the end of the day (aka: 1st and 2nd place) will be lynched at the end of the day. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. After the day has concluded, a night phase will commence, which will last a maximum of 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 hours of the night phase. 4 The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5 You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to or from you in PM with the game host. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage, as they are all exactly the same. 6 You may not quote PMs from or to other players. This will result in a 5-vote penalty the same day, and a 5-vote penalty the next. (What can I say, I liked this rule!) 7 Do not play the game outside the day-thread and PMs. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread; you must always play the role given to you. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 8 If you are dead, your game is over. You may not comment on the game to any living or dead players in any form. You are considered dead once you are a) confirmed lynched by the host, or b) announced dead in the morning. This includes posting, private messaging, direct chat, email or any other form of online or offline communication. Any information you had becomes void and may not be passed on. The same applies for living players making contact with those who are no longer playing, no matter what the stated purpose. Both situations can appear to be an attempt to gain information or cause influence that would be unfair to the remaining living players. Whether you are still playing or have already died, if you are contacted inappropriately, please notify the host immediately. Violation of this rule will result in instant mod-kill and probably something worse after the game. 9 You may not edit your posts. Editing your post will result in a 2-vote penalty. This is your only warning. 10 You must post in every Day Thread. Failure to do so will result in a 10-vote penalty at the start of the next day. 11 These rules will change during the game as a game mechanic. Pay close attention. Any and all changes will be struck through, with the new rule in bold. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host using your role PM. All other forms of communications will be ignored. THE DESIGN 23 Players 16 Town - 6 Scum - 1 SK The Day 24 Hour Safe Period - 48 Hour Voting Period - 48 Hour Night Period (With a full exciting 24 hour period to submit night actions!) Some time before the 24 Hour Mark, the Pill Cart will be rolled out. The time will be randomized each day, to be fair to timezones. The time will be chosen by Random.org. The Pills will effect that night or the following day. The Pills "God Pill" (Effect the following day, will not be removed from play) - 2 Uppers (Night action may be used twice) - 2 Lifesavers (Will be safe from a kill that night) - 16 Placebos (No Effect) - 2 Downers (Night action may not be performed) -If a person holding a pill is lynched or killed, the pill is removed from play- The Night Actions Town and Scum have NEARLY IDENTICAL ROLES with only a few tweaks to change for their sides. JOAT Town: Investigator/Protector Scum: Framer (2 Shot)/Protector/Janitor (1 Shot) Role Cop Killer Blocker Inventor Can invent a net (blocker), shield (protector), magnifying glass (investigation), or pistol (kill action). Bulletproof. Inscrutable (all investigation attempts including role cop will come up as "unsuccessful"). The inventor may either gift his invention, or create a new one, he may not do both on the same night. Universal Back-Up -When a scum with an action dies, the scum team may choose to drop an action and retain the one they would have lost.- -The Pill Cart will come in the first 24 hours at different times each day, decided by Random.Org. You post IN THREAD which pill you will be taking that day. It is first come, first serve.- Serial Killer Bulletproof. THE CAST *NOW WITH NEW ADDITIONS!* (Please remember, with the system being totally random, the characters have nothing to do with affiliation/NA) Zepher/The Host (Zepher) - Your lovely and hungry host. Dr. Pill - The man with the golden oar. One-Armed-Pete - Makes the crowd sounds you know and love. Thinks of the children. Candice the Lynch Dragon - She knows when you are sleeping. She knows where you're awake. The Night Action Blacked-Out Dude (Bob) - A fiend in the evening. The Role Cop (KielDaMan) - Watches you while you don't sleep. The Godfather (Kadabra) - Doesn't he look like a pretty normal dude? Just wearing a track suit or something. Clearly not a mob boss. The Cult Leader (Rufus) - Rather mysterious. The Cultist (Fred Daniel Yam) - Rather less mysterious. The Serious Roleplayer (Tamamono) - By day he may be a construction worker, but in his heart, he's a pirate. The NPC (Esurient) - Not a player. Seriously, look, he's clearly not supposed to be voted for. Not a player. Maybe we should vote for him. The Doctor (Piratedave84) - Damn it, Jim, I'm not a Doctor! The Jester (CallMePie) - My role never serves any purpose! The Goon (fhommess) - Grrrrr. The Male Lover (LegoDad) - Works at a Pizza Shop! Loves his wife. Might die without her. The Female Lover (Hinckley) - Works as a telemarketer. Loves her husband. Might die without him. The PGO (Purpearljellyblob) - Serving some time for accidentally shooting all of his neighbors. The Witch (Waterbrick Down) - Pretty sure that everyone else is also witches. The Usurper (TrumpetKing) - Only dresses like you because he admires you, not because he wants to be you! The Treestump (Adam) - Has very little to say. Don't stand too closely. He may explode. The Snake Charmer (Darth Potato) - Every town has a snake charmer. Didn't you know that? The Talking Animal (mostlytechnic) - A staple of every normal society. Range from camels to Fabuland critters to this thing. The Virgin (Clanure) - Don't f*ck with him. First Day Lynch (Jamesn) - I'm neW @round h3r3!!!!!!! i hope w3 @LL get along !!!!!!! Dearly Departed The Serial Killer (Walter Kovacs) - Town. Lynched Day One. Candice's first lunch. Hopefully she'll grow into a tree some day.

Heroica RPG- Quest #68: A Night at the Theatre
Zepher replied to Zepher's topic in The Heroica Archive
The skeletal man does not respond to Atramor, but looks at Tesni strangely. "You have been slain. You have been slain. You have been slain." A dagger shimmers to life in front of Johnny Everyman, hanging in the air before him, ghostly and pale. A matching ghostly dagger appears between the four heroes, hovering. Johnny's dagger looks ready to plunge into his chest, but the one near the heroes hovers hilt down, as if waiting for one of them to take hold of it and put it to use. -
The members of Mafialand have started to build up their... village. "Yarr!!" snarls the Serious Roleplayer in the least inspired of the efforts to build up a sort of theme, having only added a steering wheel to the card table from earlier. "That's kind of uninspired," the Male Lover remarks. "Yar be a land lubber," says the Serious Roleplayer in response. "What's everyone doing?" asks the one armed knight with the smiley face. "Well, I'll tell you!" says Zepher enthusiastically. "Everyone is building a facade. We don't have the time to build a real building, so we pretend by just building one side, and then we all agree that we'll only face the building from that side." "That sounds like it saves on both time, and bricks!" exclaims the Knight. "It sure does." The dwellers of the Castle Themed Mafia game work enthusiastically together to put build the foundation to a castle looking thing. The Witch levitates the bricks if the Jester is unable to reach them. Meanwhile, the Doctor, Goon and Usurper piece together a hospital. "Wait, why are you helping out?" asks the Vanilla Townie. "This will be a front for my illegal pill business," says the Godfather. "Don't we already have a pill business?" asks the Vanilla Townie. "Yeah, but mine's illegal." "Oh, that makes sense," says the Vanilla Townie. The members of the Semi-Sci-Fi flavored game have other things on their hands, however: lynching one of their own. The NPC and the Virgin bring the Serial Killer forth. "Wait, whoz iz thatz?" asks the NPC, pointing to the one armed knight. "You guys haven't noticed One-Armed-Pete yet?" asks Zepher in confusion. "He's been making all the crowd sounds." "I talk to myself a lot," explains Pete. "Think of the children! There are no children." "Oh!" everyone says in understanding. Then they begin to chant: "Eat her, eat her, eat her." "Wait, am I a her?" asks the Serial Killer. "No one really knows what gender anyone is!" explains the Jester. "Except the lovers, I guess!" "That's the same exact complaint you had about my last game," hisses the Female Lover in Zepher's ear. But, regardless of all the distractions, the crowd's intention is clear. "Eat the SK, eat the SK, eat the SK!" And then, something does. "What the what?" asks the Virgin. "That's Candice, the lynch dragon," Zepher explains. "I thought you sort of implied you'd be eating the people we lynched..." the Talking Animal says sadly. "I did!" Zepher tells everyone. "But Candice is the lynch dragon. She'll tell us the SK's alignment in the morning!" "How will she discover it?" someone asks. "Shhhhhhhh," says Zepher. "Go to sleep." "There's not really a sun... or night here..." the Cop points out. "Yeah, but if we don't go to sleep, we won't allow anyone to use their night actions," Zepher explains. Everyone ohs and aws at his logic. "A lot of the reasoning in this game is a little weak," the RoleCop whispers to the Godfather. You have 2 hours to get in night actions. The new day will be up in about 14.

Heroica RPG- Quest #68: A Night at the Theatre
Zepher replied to Zepher's topic in The Heroica Archive
The heroes all accept their roles, and suddenly the skeleton bows to them and leads them around a corner of the stage. Where there had once been wall, there is now a staircase. The heroes descend down it, and find... ...another stage. [Well, this is very confusing.] Russel scuttles around unhappily. Before the heroes stands Everyman and the skeleton. Everyman stares blankly at the heroes, and the skeleton mutters something. It appears to be the same phrase over and over again. The heroes lean forward to hear it. "Thou has slain the king! Thou arst a villain. Thou has slain the king! Thou arst a villain. Thou has slain the king! Thou arst a villain. Thou has slain the king! Thou arst a villain..." The heroes attempt to step forward, but find themselves unable. What would the heroes like to do? -

"Good to hear. I had no doubt you'd pull through along with our biggest friend. Can't say I met Donny or Violetta personally, but from the little I've heard, it sounds like we're better off with them this way." "Too much work. Destroy the foundation and the top will crumble. With the pink chap supporting its darker counterpart, there's no way we'd be able to take them both out in time anyway." Boomingham glances over at Nyx and grins. "Nyx- er, Lady Nyx sometimes gets a little caught up in the battle and forgets to chat with the rest of us. She's a smasher, not a commander. But she's damn good at what she does." -
