  1. OoC: Crap, did I really forget to heal myself after last battle? Idiot. I should be encouraged though. "We need to take those racks out before anything else. Arthur, blind Samantha and the chap with the club if you can, and fire on the shield rack. Arnulf, you're to take out the weapons rack. Em, if you could join in that assault, that'd be for the best. Karie, you say you got hooked on this pixie dust stuff? Let's see what it does." Boomingham steps into the back row, snorts the pixie dust, and heals himself. Battle Order Boomingham Boomingham Arthur Arthur Arthur Arthur Em Arnulf Karie OoC: Could be KO'd this round. Arthur, if you'd prefer to use a grand potion on me, or a potion, or something to that nature, then you'll be moved in front of me for the first move in the battle order. If not, I don't mind risking it.

  4. "I do not take orders from you, Arthur," the angel mutters back. "Too much talking, for my taste, Stealer. The simple fact of the matter is that you're taking away people's choice. It's the same thing I said to Bluehood. Without the struggle, no one will know what to do with the power. They haven't earned it. You need to nurture people, not feed them. You rob people of their choice, of their being. Wiping someone and making them a blank slate every time they make choices you personally disagree with isn't giving them a choice, its making them start over if they disagree with you. I came here to destroy this Armory, and that's what I'll do. If you stop me, I'll fight you. If you don't, then you'll have a head start."
  5. Boomingham looks at his party. "Listen, chaps, lady, when we're in there, we're a team. That means no bothering your partners during battle, Arthur, and a stiff upper lip from all." Boomingham glances at Karie at the end of his comment. He yanks a mead out of his sack and begins to nurse it. "I personally find this Stealer chap offensive, and I trust that you'll all join me in taking him out of the picture if he happens to be around. I have yet to deal with a party that doesn't cooperate with me. You'd hate to be the first."

  9. A familiar worried face ducks into the Hall and reads over the sign-ups for 72. "Oh, good, they're all returning, hopefully all these returning heroes will be able to keep Guffington safe." He tacks a piece of paper on top of the sign-ups, nods to Docken, Hybros and Guts, and leaves the Hall. Quest 72 Party Hybros *Party Leader* Guts Holla Docken Nyx OoC: Scuba, Pandora, comment in the discussion thread or something when you're back from your vacation! Then we'll get a move on.
  10. "Let her get through it." Boomingham sighs. This is a different sort of hero than he's used to dealing with. "I'm afraid Nyx has spoiled me." "As for the dogs, I hope one of them is Arrow. You're not able to get anything out of them, Ranger?"
  11. I have a second request as well: Boomingham with all the ladies of the Hall. Interesting to see the color schemes of all the original classes. Barbarians have got some gold and tan, Clerics white, tans and green, knights have got red and black, mages blues and reds, rangers overwhelmingly green, and rogues are, of course, almost all wearing black.
  12. "I heard you the first time, little lady. That's why I have it and you don't." Boomingham winks at his young charge.
  13. *Quietly chuckles about his vague plans for his finale.* I also love how LITTLE of the world the heroes have actually gotten to. I think the pace is perfect. We're fully establishing societies before going too much further - not getting in over our heads, as it is.
  14. Boomingham looks at the drugs. "These are new. Certainly weren't around back in the day." Boomingham licks a finger and sticks it into each bag in turning, running the contents he picks up under his nose and then popping it into his mouth. His eyes grow a little hazy, but only for a second. "Lawrence!" Barty screeches. "Means to an end. I'll take the Pixie Dust and Seventh Heaven. The orange stuff gives me a headache, but someone else can pick it up if they like. I guess after that we may as well head down that alley." Boomingham points northwest.
  15. Boomingham yanks the piece of paper off the wall and reads it while the others ransack the joint.

  17. Fault is mine, for forgetting which of my monsters I made humanoid. I'm dumb. Slowed was used differently when I quested against it, but I see it has since been changed, fixed! Next round incoming!
  18. It's true. High Kingdoms has gotten a fair amount of visits/love, but low kingdoms have not. I've always viewed the high kingdoms as more classical medieval society structure, clinging on to kingdoms and such, with the low kingdoms being poorer but more contemporary (more fluid social structure, more intricate and fair power balances) and willing to accept change - but there's no reason that has to be the case. I don't know why I always felt that way, actually, there hasn't been indication that that's the case.
  19. Same argument can be made against healing staffs (actually have a higher chance of healing than some healing classes) and a number of other items (everlasting venom v. witches, is another example). EDIT: I too actually find the gloves to be far too powerful, but sometimes we just gotta roll with the punches. Too late to change now, they're already in circulation.
  20. He seemed pretty honest about setting the quest there. Just thought I'd tell him that there was already a pretty established story for it.
  21. And I based most of my builds off that too, though in many places I can see how the architecture of Russia and India could be similar. I guess the building style is a little more Indian. I didn't purposely draw from Russia either (at least not at first) but it sort of evolved that way.
  22. Then perhaps you don't know much about Russian culture. It's a pretty major perversion, I'll admit it, though there are some obvious nods. I can actually totally see Ancient Rome traits too, and absolutely Manifest Destiny, though that one less so. I'd still say that Russia was (my) strongest influence when developing the culture and architecture, though I don't have the most perfect understanding of their culture, and there were two other people who had a major say in it.
  23. I wouldn't say that's exactly how the cultures pan out, though. Mistaria is perhaps South American, but the Low and High Kingdoms are very obviously European, along with Charis. Dastan reminds me more than anything of a perversion of Russia culture. The Free Islands are also clearly European. The map doesn't really (and in my mind, shouldn't) exactly mimic the real world! It doesn't seem very kind to simply throw out Quarryman's back story. He's already said that all he people of that land are similar to Nammyra. Saying that Nammyra only looks the way she does because a Wizard Did It doesn't seem particularly fair. Besides, Fenerio was added specifically because Quarryman asked it to be, and made it up.

  25. Boomingham stares at the scar sadly. "No way you can heal it, Barty?" "Some scars can't go away, Lawrence. You know that." "Listen, Karie. We have one power in this world. We are responsible for our actions. Someone who robs other of that right will perish. Do not blame yourself for whatever he forced you to do. You repair whatever damage you did by stopping him." Boomingham rubs his forehead with the palm of his hand. "Karie, I can also promise you no harm will come to you. I won't allow it. A commander doesn't allow any harm to come to those who follow him. They are given the responsibility, they must shoulder it. Put back on your outfit. Be prepared for combat." Boomingham glances up as Arthur strolls around the corner. "Ah, Hels, boy. What are you doing? Everyone, draw your weapons, apparently the private has decided that we're moving out." Boomingham follows Arthur, leading the rest behind him.
