  2. "It's Guffington's funeral," he mutters as he passes by. "Everyone treats the Founder's Day batch like they were some heroes, but they didn't stay to clean up their own mess. I was one of the four who carried that Moon Elf out. Damn things are near dead, its just another one." "He invited you, not I, Master Guts, though I'm more than happy that you'll be there. Master Guffington hosts parties like this all the time. I can think of two other times when members of Heroica came. Once there was a strange pale creature with what appeared to be ink blotches on her face, and before that, a young Hestia Bonaparte with another young lad who died in the line of duty. I believe Master Guffington likes to cultivate the image of opening his doors to the world. Though I do not know if you are only here for pleasantries. There is something afoot, of this I am sure that there is something afoot."
  3. "Of course. There are a great many important people coming to this party. Lord Guffington casts a wider net than just Eubric, so you may find yourself out of your element as Lord Guffington casts a wider net than just Eubric." This is the U'Kin's moment to shine. His eyes gloss over slightly as he recalls all of his master's contacts and friends. "From this grand city comes Henry Hinckwell, brother to Henreich. He is in charge of a great deal of the Hinckwell affairs over-seas, doing most of the actual traveling for the family. He is the father of the missing Roderick Hinckwell, who was last seen in service to your great hall. Also there is Samuel Shawe, younger brother of Issac Shawe of the House Shadeuax. He crates and delivers most weapons for the family. I believe he accompanied Umbra on her most recent trip to Dastan. I hope to visit some day. Madame Ladybug is well known in the city, I believe. She has never attended one of my Master's parties before. I can't imagine why he invited her." U'Or's face goes slightly red, but he continues. "Also from Uland is Lord Chauncey. He is a affluent member of the Bric'Lin community, as far as I know. He and Lord Guffington have visited once or twice before, but have long been in contact. Their correspondence has increased the beginning of this year." "Lady Felix hails from Kalma but is a world traveller, and has been our guest numerous times in the past. Lord and Lady Marsh are merchants from the city of Gull on Leland. Lord Marsh has stayed with us numerous times before though it is the Lady's first visit. Both they and Lady Felix have been here for a couple of days." "Doctor Everstein is... questionable. I cannot understand his past at all. He bills himself only as a problem solver, and has told me things about myself that I have not told him first. I do not trust him, but it may just be my race. Rito and U'Kin have had a long history, and Wereravens are the nearest thing to the Rito outside of Dastan."
  4. "Thank you. That is exactly what I've been trying to tell Andrew. Though I hardly think this qualifies us as working for the highest bidder, Imp. We're being paid to keep out, not to come in." "Which is ridiculous. The man is putting himself into danger for no reason." "I'm afraid he's right," U'Or whispers to anyone who will hear. "You may be on your way, heroes. But please, if you need help, come to us. We are here to serve." The Watchmen continue on their way, Andrew baring his teeth at Nyx, and Andrew giving a polite nod. The heroes look up and realize they are outside the Theatre. "I guess we better be on our way, I guess."
  5. But okay! That Rod is pretty damn powerful.
  6. "No, we'll be on our way. Have a pleasant day." "That damn Gerald Guffington is having a party. After the events of Founder's Day, you'd think that they'd allow us in, but Guffington somehow has finagled a way to host a party with only private security. More damn heroes from that damned Hall. You can tell Severan is fuming, but Patricia says the Guffington is a friend of the Watch... hey, wait a minute." Andrew stares at Nyx. "I know you! You were there when that band of looters attacked that Hinckwell shop way back on Grogmas." "Let them be on their way, Andrew."
  7. "The Doctor is good. His work has consumed him lately. He always has more than one project going on, but whatever he is working on, it has consumed him. All of his projects have been, according to him, 'fast tracked'. I do not think that the Ji Pei have called him in to consult as of late, and if they have, he has declined the offer, as he is too busy if they called him." The heroes hear some argument up ahead. They round the corner to find two members of the town watch bickering. "But its ridiculous!" "Look, I agree, what with all the dangerous things that have been happening in Eubric recently, but these orders come directly from Serevan, who got his orders directly from Patricia. Apparently wealth affords you a little luxury in this city." "We can't just allow people to walk all over us all the time." Andrew snarls as he spots the heroes. "What are you lot looking at? Where are you going?"
  8. OoC: My reasoning is this: Aura seems to "absorb" abilities. If it slowed the "hero", it'd be you, but it slows the whole party - it doesn't matter who it hits, it effects the whole party. But yes, with Sandy on my quest, there is little question about the rules.
  9. "Thou thinkst we have been below this Theatre for years? We are the originals." "The master brings us. Thou art the defenders of lies. We give our lives time and time again to defend the Master from these lies of Stirlance." "Nightmarish play. This is true. A farce. Thou speakest truly. This play entraps lives. Now, let us play our parts." Round 8 Act IV >Atramor v. Guard C - Poison (No Effect) Soldier B v. Guard B - (48-10=40 Damage, -1 ether Althior) Tesni v. 10. "We were both disappointed in it, yes, but for different reasons. Master Guffington is simply happy that no one died - though I fear he is now very taken with that songstress witch. I personally... I am afraid of her. And for the city. But I let others worry about that." "He won't tell me, exactly what sort of trouble he won't tell me. Master Guffington has never really had any fear of trouble. He has always referred to danger as 'adventure' is how he's always referred to danger. I do know that his old rival and friend Sir Hughes was found dead a month or two ago. Some people say that he was murdered. I think Guffington is among them who say that he was murdered." The U'Kin clearly stumbles over his words, and in his terror his accent, which usually is subdued, comes back in full force. "Yes, we both saw you there, I believe. I think that Master Guffington remembers you. He rarely forgets a face. As for my duties for Master Guffington, I essentially run his household entirely is my basic duty for Master Guffington. Though he is quite rich, he does not own a large estate, as he is the only member of his family. He, Daneeka and I live there, usually with a guest or two. It is not too much work, generally." "I think the events of the Foundation Day Ball is why he is having this party. He has invited many people we have only seen a few times, all from the surrounding areas. Very few of the Houses in Eubric are coming... it is a very specific group. I can't figure out how he selected them."
  11. "Karie, stop wasting your potions. I'm able to protect the party." Boomingham heals Em from the back row, and, only if successful, attacks Samantha as well. If not, he tries again. "Ranger, if I heal you, fire on that bomb toting enemy." Battle Order Boomingham Boomingham Arthur Karie Arthur Em

"Hello, heroes, I am here to direct you to Guffington Manor and to answer questions that you might have on the way to Guffington Manor, heroes." Then, in a less official voice, he leans forward as if to tell a secret. "I am very happy to see you again, Guts, Hybros, Docken, I am very happy to see you again. I am afraid that Guffington has gotten himself into too much trouble, again." He straightens himself up and continues in his all too commanding tone. "Well, you can talk and walk, can't you talk and walk? Let's set off. Wouldn't want to be late. Guffington is demanding that we arrive at precisely 7:55!" OoC: BD, if you want to do a banner, I'd be very grateful.

  15. The Serious Roleplayer sits and relaxes in his finally finished facade. "It feels good to be on top! I can't believe that the scum didn't see my gambit of using the rules against them! Sure, it takes away the whole point of voting, which is the only power some people have in Mafia, but you know what, screw it! Haha!" Suddenly, a dark figure appears. "What if you had done it and been wrong. How radically unfair would that have been to the town?" the figure muses. "Oh, it doesn't matter, I'm the God of the Mafia Plane! I told myself so." "But isn't that a strange power that you have over the scum?" "Yes!" "Whoever you are, I have always depended on the kindness of strangers." "How are you still talking? I ripped your head off of your body." BOOM Elsewhere... "Oh, sweet, I'm blacked out, that means I'm safe!" "Oh, no, I'm the BONAD? Shucks." The BONAD wanders around all the parked forms of transportation from the day before. "I hope that announcing that I'm the vig randomly yesterday doesn't somehow come back to haunt me." Shockingly it, does. "Snake Charmer was scum, BONAD was town, Serious Roleplayer was town..." Zepher burps. Bits of Role Cop stuck in his teeth fly out. "Role Cop was town and could have used BBQ sauce." "You need 6 votes to convict today." The Rules 1 Each player will be given a character to play, who will be aligned with either the Town or the Scum. To win the game, the Town must kill off all the Scum and the SK, while the Scum must outnumber the Town. Any Third-Party (neutral) characters have their own win conditions as outlined below. 2 Each day you will be able to vote to lynch a player. Voting should be done in the following format; Vote: Character (Player). Similarly, unvoting is to be done in the format; Unvote: Character (Player). No other format will be accepted. The player with the most lynches will be lynched. You may only unvote once a day. 3 A game day will last for about 72 hours. Whoever has the most votes at the end of the day will be lynched. There must be a 3/4th consensus to lynch. You may not vote in the first 24 hours. After the day has concluded, a night phase will commence, which will last a maximum of 48 hours. Night actions must be sent to the host in the first 24 hours of the night phase. 4 The alignment of lynched players, as well as those that died during the night, will be revealed at the beginning of the next day. 5 You may not quote or pretend to quote anything sent to or from you in PM with the game host. This includes all the details of your character and role, as well as any night action results. Role claims and reporting of night action results are acceptable, but in your own words only. Do not attempt to use the structure of your role PM to your advantage, as they are all exactly the same. 6 You may not quote PMs from or to other players. This will result in a 5-vote penalty the same day, and a 5-vote penalty the next. (What can I say, I liked this rule!) 7 Do not play the game outside the day-thread and PMs. Similarly, do not post out of character inside the thread; you must always play the role given to you. Game tactics and roles may only be discussed in the game thread or via PM with other players. Private discussion is done at your own risk and should be treated as part of the game. 8 If you are dead, your game is over. You may not comment on the game to any living or dead players in any form. You are considered dead once you are a) confirmed lynched by the host, or b) announced dead in the morning. This includes posting, private messaging, direct chat, email or any other form of online or offline communication. Any information you had becomes void and may not be passed on. The same applies for living players making contact with those who are no longer playing, no matter what the stated purpose. Both situations can appear to be an attempt to gain information or cause influence that would be unfair to the remaining living players. Whether you are still playing or have already died, if you are contacted inappropriately, please notify the host immediately. Violation of this rule will result in instant mod-kill and probably something worse after the game. 9 You may not edit your posts. Editing your post will result in a 2-vote penalty. This is your only warning. 10 You must post in every Day Thread. Failure to do so will result in a 10-vote penalty at the start of the next day. 11 These rules will change during the game as a game mechanic. Pay close attention. Any and all changes will be struck through, with the new rule in bold. If you encounter a problem or have a question, please contact the host using your role PM. All other forms of communications will be ignored. THE DESIGN 23 Players 16 Town - 6 Scum - 1 SK The Day 24 Hour Safe Period - 48 Hour Voting Period - 48 Hour Night Period (With a full exciting 24 hour period to submit night actions!) Some time before the 24 Hour Mark, the Pill Cart will be rolled out. The time will be randomized each day, to be fair to timezones. The time will be chosen by Random.org. The Pills will effect that night or the following day. The Pills "God Pill" (Effect the following day, will not be removed from play) - 2 Uppers (Night action may be used twice) - 2 Lifesavers (Will be safe from a kill that night) - 16 Placebos (No Effect) - 2 Downers (Night action may not be performed) -If a person holding a pill is lynched or killed, the pill is removed from play- The Night Actions Town and Scum have NEARLY IDENTICAL ROLES with only a few tweaks to change for their sides. JOAT Town: Investigator/Protector Scum: Framer (2 Shot)/Protector/Janitor (1 Shot) Role Cop Killer Blocker Inventor Can invent a net (blocker), shield (protector), magnifying glass (investigation), or pistol (kill action). Bulletproof. Inscrutable (all investigation attempts including role cop will come up as "unsuccessful"). The inventor may either gift his invention, or create a new one, he may not do both on the same night. Universal Back-Up -When a scum with an action dies, the scum team may choose to drop an action and retain the one they would have lost.- -The Pill Cart will come in the first 24 hours at different times each day, decided by Random.Org. You post IN THREAD which pill you will be taking that day. It is first come, first serve.- Serial Killer Bulletproof. Hard to Read (If an investigator investigates him, the result will be "unsuccessful", but a role cop will receive the result of "killer".). Killer Role PM's Town: Character - Town - Night Action(s) Scum: Character - Scum - Night Action(s) - List of Fellow Scum's Names SK: Character - SK - Night Actions Win Conditions Town: Kill the Scum + SK Scum: Outnumber the Town + SK SK: Two other players alive, with no other win conditions met. 16. The weather in Mafia Land remains rainy. Perhaps the world knows that its game is coming to a close. "Well this sucks, I hardly got a ballad at all." "With the amount of posts what it was, I guess it was hardly worth posting an interlude." "You don't want to kill me! With me gone, think about how uncharming all the snakes will be!" "That's not even what a snake charmer does!" "Huzzah!" says the town, before turning on The Serious Roleplayer. "Get him!" they all shout. "Ar, me hearties, yer don't be wanting to kill me!" says the Serious Roleplayer. "Take me instead!" says the Role Cop loudly and proudly! "Zepher told me I was the prettiest and said if I told anyone else, I'd die! So there." "Hey!" says Zepher indignantly. "Candice, come eat me!" says the Role Cop. But nothing happens. "She won't eat you because you weren't lynched properly. I guess I'll have to pick up the slack." And then Zepher at the Role Cop and everyone went to sleep. Vote Count Snake Charmer (Darth Potato): 5 (Tamamono, Bob, KielDaMan, Adam, Rufus) The Witch (Waterbrick Down): 2 (fhommes, mostlytechnic) The Serious Roleplayer (Tamamono): 4 (Waterbrick Down, Darth Potato, Purpearljellyblob, Esurient) The Role Cop: 5 (penalty, penalty, penalty, penalty, penalty)
  17. Hold your horses. Pictures uploaded, Day incoming!
  18. "Samantha and I are sparring partners. You can let her snooze after we dance a little." Boomingham advances on Samantha. "My dear, you are either brainwashed or Wolfgang. Either way, I object to what you are, and so will forcefully end it. Your Stealer says he grants you a new start, but you are what you are." Boomingham swipes at Samantha, ready to heal himself should things go poorly. Battle Order >Boomingham v. Samantha >Boomingham v. 19. As badly as I want to see Regulator, I think you may suddenly have the best build in the game. Even without anyone blinded/hexed, there is only a 1/6 chance of anyone hurting your party at all.
  20. It's a very smart build, particularly with that damn amulet I gave you.
  21. Aura, blinded and witches are a match made in heaven.
