No, I have left the exact family tree vague on purpose. It is not even stated how many children Zelda has besides Zed. Only Zed's offspring have been set to stone, but there can be any number of aunts, uncles, cousins and second cousins.

Heroica RPG - Quest#119: The Blackgull Inquisition
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
The hardness in the Fogfarer's eyes melted. He started to tear up. "I... I am no killer. Blackgull, you must believe that I have acted out of love, not hate. My love for Alwyn is greater than my love for this Fort, and that makes me unworthy to serve. I..." As soon as Fogfarer loosened his grip on her, Xsenna seized him by the arm and began hissing words. "Akava Lunevanne! Lyu hura mar'assa si arya!" The Moon Elf began to howl in pain as his skin turned red and wisps of smoke began rising from it. In seconds the Fogfarer was dead, his blood having boiled from Xsenna's spell. His smoldering remains slumped to the ground "Was that absolutely necessary, Xsenna? He was about to surrender." "Nobody touch princess of Huravani without her will and lives!" Xsenna grunted, rubbing her neck. "I made hura shine inside him, that is more than Lunavanne deserves." "That settles it, then. Poor bastard..." Blackgull turned to the heroes. "I am sorry you had to witness that. My wife has somewhat of a temper, as you can see. I would not have married a lesser woman, though. Your job here is complete. I thank you for your assistance, and should the Bonapartes require more assistance from Heroica in the future, I will know who to turn to." Blackgull rewarded each hero with 300 gold. They would gain increased reputation among the Bonaparte, but the incident at the Merry Mermaid allows them to refuse and gain reputation with the Ji Pei instead. THE QUEST IS SUCCESSFUL! The holidays made the quest a bit longer than intended, but I hope you didn't mind. There would have been a third battle if you had irritated the Young Wolf Brigade enough, but that did not happen (despite Miderun's good effort ). Now you can decide if you'd rather have reputation among the Bonaparte or the Ji Pei. -
I think the main conflict alchemists and mages in general is that they step into each other's territories. Alchemists are trying to do what mages do but without the need to train and study the arcane. Mages are miffed about the idea that anyone could heal wounds or rain fire upon enemies by just buying a bottle. Mages don't really need tonics, since they can recover ether by resting, but it certainly speeds things up. And for alchemists, having something that mages want and are ready to pay for must be titillating. Speaking of mages, I managed to write articles for most of the Ziegfrieds to the wiki today. There's some new insight on them in there, several things I have been going through my head but haven't really found a way to present yet.

From the sound of the set name, Skyra seems to be the elven queen or something like that. Definitely looking forward to that pegasus.
-
I don't think Arthur has actually been on any Ziegfried quest yet, though, so his contacts with the main family are limited to the Foundation Day Ball and a few letters. Even though you said you were going to retire from questing for a bit, I fully expect to see Arthur on my next Ziegfried quest,.

Look again. Counterstrike Gloves (If the wearer is damaged by a Free Hit, they counter with strength equal to their level; handwear.) Costs 80 gold. They are a family of powerful (and a bit lunatic) wizards, so that alone makes them both respected and feared. They are also very sequestered, so their effect on the city is not exactly clear to the outsiders. They pull their share of strings behind the scenes, though. But I'll be exploring more of them in a few of my upcoming quests. I admit that they have probably been too distant to the heroes (other than Althior, Nyx, Cinna and Thothwick) thus far.

"It looks like I have no choice. Truth be told, I never cared for the blueskins bossing me around - no offense, Lady Ji Pei. Now I'll get to be bossed around by people of varying skin colors. That's something, at least!" "I shall spread news of this t'ho the Circ'hles of Magi. But'h before I dep'hart, is there anything I can do t'ho reward you for generously sparing frail old me? ...Ah, I believe there is!" The Weather Mage takes out a blue book out of the pocket of his robe. "This is the t'home I spok'he with you about'h, Sir Dragoon; 'Begone with the Winds'. It'h is yours." "Hey, wait a minute! If we're giving gifts here, I don't want to be overshadowed!" The spymaster patted his pockets. "Uh, you can have... this! It's an ethertech spyglass. It will detect spies and eavesdroppers in your vicinity if you use it. It apparently reads their mindwaves or something." The two men gave their gifts to the party before bidding their farewells. Begone with the Winds (Grants the holder access to the Weather Mage expert job class upon reaching Level 30.) Spyglass (Reveals if there are spies and eavesdroppers in the vicinity when used; tool) Shanxian nods. "It is our purpose to make Xu a better place to live for all of it's inhabitants. Instead of a council of five Aoi, the new council will have representatives from each of the 26 provinces. The Tritech Corporation will begin to dismantle the ether pumps and windmills from the regions where they cause disturbance to the nature, but much of Xuese technology is dependent on them. We have to make sure this revolution means going forward, not backwards." "I am sure Lee will be devastated when he hears about the fate of the revered Guru. He and the Kappa ambassador were unintentional collateral damage, and I wish there would have been time to stop and save them as well, but I really had to rush to the Chamber with the Arkenstone, and I doubt I would have come out of there alive without you, with Guard Captain Raijin putting up such a good fight with the automata. I owe you my life." "If you have any more questions, let us discuss them on our way back to The Destiny's Bounty. We have changed Xu enough in just one day. It is time to go home."

Heroica RPG - Quest#119: The Blackgull Inquisition
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
"That still does not prove anything. Why did you not bring the thief here? But there's no use going over it. In any case I will no longer use Captain Bullsworth for important deliveries. That should suffice." Blackgull was not satisfied with the heroes performance in this case, but overall he was pleased to get results. Soon, a guard returned with Meliodoul Fogfarer. Two cracked cases out of three was enough for him. "Commodore Bonaparte, what brings me the honor of getting brought in front of you at swordpoint?" The elf then noticed the heroes standing behind Blackgull. "Oh... Of course." "These people brought me information of your treachery. You are accused for exchanging classified information with the Wolfgang for medicines. What do you have to say for yourself, Fogfarer?" "I... I did what I had to. Without the medicine made out of Kalma Dreamsprout, my Alwyn would die in pain. I had to ease his suffering, no matter the cost." "Kalma Dreamsprout is a terrible drug, causing people to hallucinate that they can do anything, like flying or take down a tribe of ravenous Pongcanae single-handedly. People who take it die." "But at least they die happy!" "By your actions, you have sentenced not only yourself but your lover as well. I will see that he is delivered to the care of the Sisters of Danab, but feeding him poisonous herbs will stop." The Moon Elf's eyes flared up. In a whirl of motion, he drove his elbow into the face of the guard behind him, grabbed his sword and put it against Xsenna's throat. "After all I have done for you and your family, you treat me worse than a pirate! If the love of my life dies suffering, so will yours!" How would the party react? Party: Annienal Anavir (Kintobor) "19" year old elven female Knight *Party Leader* Level 7 Power: 13 (7+6) Defense: 4 (2+2) Health: 11/16 (10+6) Equipment: Ammit (WP: 6; greatsword, user gains 5 ether for every kill); College Shield (SP: 2), Pauldrons (SP: 2, suitable for knights, dragoons, and skirmishers; accessory) Gold: 13 Inventory: Bonaparte Cutlass (WP:9, doubled if the user has reputation among the Bonapartes; longsword), Wicked Javelin (WP: 7, throwing weapon, retrievable, 1/6 chance to slow), Sanctified Rito Longsword (WP: 4, Hits doubled against flying enemies, longsword), Training Sword (WP:4), Emerald (Wood), 2 Potions, 2 Phoenix Essences, Mead, Venom, Smoke Bomb, Bedroll, Field Rations (Restore 15 health) Miderun (CallMePie) 18 year old female orc Barbarian Level 7 *Attacks cause enamored* Power: 21 (7+13+1) Health: 14/14 (8+6) Gold: 92 Equipment: Oculoid Claw (WP: 13, 1/6 chance of dealing the infected-effect, causing an enemy to lose health equal to 1/3 of their level rounded down at the end of each round, club), Seductive Perfume (Holder deals the enamored-effect, suitable for women; accessory) Inventory: Bonaparte Cutlass (WP:9, doubled if the user has reputation among the Bonapartes; longsword), Serstyral (WP: 3, axe), Tricorne (SP:3; headwear.), High Heels (Power +1; suitable for women; footwear.), 3 Potions, Remedy, Phoenix Essence, Mead, Nostrum, Smelling Salts, Smoke Bomb Warlen Melimane (The Chosen Minifigure) 23 year old male half-elven Mage Level 8 Power: 13 (8+5) (Spellpower: 18 (8+5+5)) Health: 4/12 (5+7) Ether: 11/12 (5+7) Gold: 30 Equipment: Gold-coated Bat Staff (WP:5, staff), Spellbound Gloves (Power +5 to spells) Inventory: Robe of the Magi (SP:1; suitable to mages; bodywear), Marauder’s Mantle (Grants permanent reinforced-effect, doubling defense; suitable to marauders; backwear), Amethyst (Darkness), Aquamarine (Water), Emerald (Wood), Ruby (Fire), Sapphire (Wind), Opal (Ice), Scroll of Fire Warding (1/2 chance to make the target immune to fire for the duration of one battle at the cost of 1 ether), Scroll of Ice Warding (1/2 chance to make the target immune to ice for the duration of one battle at the cost of 1 ether), Scroll of Water Warding (1/2 chance to make the target immune to water for the duration of one battle at the cost of 1 ether), Scroll of Wood Warding (1/2 chance to make the target immune to wood for the duration of one battle at the cost of 1 ether), 4 Potions, Grand Potion, Health Core, Tonic, 2 Remedies, Dragon Scale, Smoke bomb, Fire Bomb, Bedroll, Shovel, Telescope -
I'm currently contemplating which quests to launch next, and this discussion has certainly opened my eyes to what people want. I have a few more short, "we haven't really seen much of this NPC yet" quests, but after that, it might be time to roll in the big guns.

Heroica RPG - Quest #118: The Tale of the Stolen Spirits
Sandy replied to Flipz's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: I guess it's okay to just autoroll the results from here-on out. "Hybros is right! Once the knight is dead, we should just watch the lieutenant succumb to his wounds and poisoning. A cruel tactic, I admit, but I don't think these golems actually feel anything." Ellaria directs her attacks to the Black Knight from the back row. If the target is dead, she does nothing. The battle order remains the same.- 506 replies

The Emerald Palace had quietened down as your rivals left it one by one after being defeated in a match. Eventually there were just you and three others left. You are approached by Roland Emeraldo, the "Emerald Emperor" himself. "Congratulations on being the best of your respective cup! Together you four bested a total of sixty other contestants! That has earned you access to the wondrous Decamon Drafter expert job class. However, now it is time to see if you really have what it takes to play Decamon in the big league. Let me introduce you to the Champions of Decamon!" Roland Emeraldo waves his wand towards the gates of the palace, where four people step in: a young boy in a wide-brimmed hat, a rockling mage, an armored vampiress and an elderly greenskinned witch. "By winning against one of these four, you will win yourselves the title of Decamon Champion. Heroica RPG - Decamon Tournament: Cerulean Cup

"I see... Hooks Caldera openly confessed that he was behind the bombing of the Baker's Guild. It seems overly fanatic to me, too, but there is no denying of the threat the Ji Pei poses to the stability of the Free Islands. The Aoi hold great power in their modern technology, but that power can easily be abused with devastating results. Like I told you in the morning, the Summer Islands have had to suffer from being so close to Xu." "Nature balance disturbs from Aoi flying ships. Birds fly away, fish swim away, beasts run away. Aoi force trade with Huravani, and they want dig our lands for treasure. Rob nature of it's riches. Aoi se'yre shin somo akava." "I have to commend you for convincing the Ji Pei to hand him over to us. It was utterly unexpected of them, and it seems I have you to thank for it. Hooks Caldera will be punished by demoting his rank and confiscating his ship. I am not entirely satisfied that you sided with the Ji Pei so easily, but I guess the end justifies the means." Blackgull seemed to be moderately satisfied with the result. "Hmm, that doesn't really tell me anything. Framed by who? What evidence did you find out about it? That is not enough..." Blackgull seemed to be wanting more information about the case. The heroes would have to come up with more on the spot if they wanted to satisfy him. "It is as I feared, then. Collaborating with the Wolfgang, out of all the people... That is a severe crime, no matter what his motivations might have been. I will have to bring Fogfarer in for more interrogating. If he confesses, his death will be swift. I want you to be present to back up your claims." Blackgull sent soldiers to retrieve Meliodoul Fogfarer. He was satisfied with the heroes uncovering the truth about the treacherous elf. -
QM Note: You're right, the Chaotic Bomb shouldn't have been dropped because Jun-Chi was decamodified. Also I have to note that poor Skrall did all the (over)killing, yet ended up with the least amount of gold in total. But that's of course between you three. Shanxian looked down in shame. "Realizing the truth took me countless days and nights trapped on bed, unable to move anywhere. Master Kai Tsi was right all along, but his methods made him look like a mass murderer. I don't know if I fared any better, but at least I managed to form enough alliances against the Council - even one inside the Council - so that the revolution would be as swift and efficient as possible. It was Jun's captivity that gave me new perspective. I fear what his reaction will be once he hears about this..." The group then left the carnage in the Council Chamber behind. At the entrance hall, the automata had lined up along the walls. The spymaster and the weather mage were there as well, being the only survivors of the bloodbath. The front doors opened at that moment, and two nagas slithered into the hall. "Raja Serpior, Rani Shiveta. We are honoured by your presence." "Ssspare the cordialitiesss, Lady Ji Pei. My wife and I are here to sssee that the war between our nationsss isss finally concluded." "There isss sssurely a lot to dissscusss, but can we do it sssomewhere elssse? Thisss place reeksss of blood." "Nothing comes without a price, Your Serpentine Majesties The White Ninjas of Nagashan performed flawlessly, so now is our turn to keep our end of the bargain. Please, let me escort you to my private palace for further negotiations." "I will join you momentarily." As the nagas departed with the single remaining counsellor, Maiwei took Shanxian's hand. "Will you be alright, sister-in-law?" "Yes, dear Maiwei, you just worry about all the politics. You always were the better one at that. You and the Littlefinger have a lot to do. I wish I could do more." "You did plenty enough. You should not have come here in the first place - it only put you at an unnecessary risk." "And miss seeing the revolution I initiated? Don't be silly. Go, now, before the Littlefinger manages to insult the nagas and ruin this whole alliance." The two Ji Pei women hugged, and Maiwei walked out. Shanxian then gave the Arkenstone to Vincent. "You know what to do with this, my monsignore. I want to thank you for agreeing to this, as well." "My inventions have caused too much damage to this land for me to allow it to continue. If it is alright with you, I will remain in Xu for the time being to see that everything goes smoothly." The inventor shook the Arkenstone. "And that this does not fall into wrong hands. We can expect resistance and counter-measures from those who are still loyal to the Council, but gladly their numbers are few. Dr. Gioconda will take you back home on the Destiny's Bounty." "I wish you luck, Vincent. My family could not have gained a better friend." "Glad to be of service, milady." The inventor then left, taking his automata with him. Only Spymaster Tanooki and Weather Mage Sun Qui remained with Shanxian and the heroes in the vast hall. The dead silence was in stark comparison to the lively hubbub the heroes heard when they first stepped inside the House of the Blue Hand. "So, anyone care to tell us what happened here? Why was the Council walked out in chains?" "It'h look'hs lik'he there has been a change in p'hower, Sp'hymast'her. We are luck'hy t'ho be alive t'ho see it'h." "Yeah, we have you people to thank for that. Why did you bother saving us two while the others were killed?" What would the heroes respond? As I was making NPC profiles in the wiki, I noticed that I've used the exact same face and hair combo for two of my characters: Lieutenant Serevan and Meliodoul Fogfarer. I decided to explain the resemblance so that Serevan is the Fogfarer's father.

QM Note: I hope you realized that you can't use your new Decamon card in the Decamon Tournament, CMP, because it already passed in the timeline of this quest. I also assume that Skrall wants to switch artifacts. 875 Rounds Later... >Skrall switches Overkill Gloves for Medal of Glory >Atramor uses Decamodifier on Jun-Chi - (Jun-Chi: successfully decamodified) After a long time of everyone just staring each other, the Jun-Chi is weakened enough for Atramor to turn it into a Decamon card. With that... THE BATTLE IS VICTORIOUS! Skrall gains three quarters of a level, while Arthur and Atramor gain a quarter. The Littlefinger stepped forward. "Well done, boys! It is time for the final player in this game to step to the field." The counsellor turned to his colleagues. "I am sorry to tell you that I made all this possible. Being in charge the nation's treasury, I have been funding the efforts of the two Lady Ji Peis and the Tritech Corporation. Nothing pleases me more than to be rid of you four pompous clowns." "This cannot be..." "Traitors, all of you!" "Well played, Littlefinger. I thought you were my friend..." "So it truly is over for the Council of the Blue Hand. What happens now?" "That really is an excellent question, counsellors, and it will require a lot of negotiating. However, you four will not be part of those talks. You will be exiled from Xu for crimes against it's people. Many people would rather see your heads roll, but too much Aoi blood has been spilled today. My hands are soaked dark blue." "We did what was necessary for our people's future, Shanxian. The blood is on all of our hands." "I know... Vincent, have your automatons escort the four counsellors to the prison to await for their banishment. The rest of us should go assess the damage we've done in this place." Shanxian glanced at the heroes with sadness in her eyes. "Or will you three follow me anymore?"

I've made one more change to the Decamon Drafter by increasing the power of the summoned monsters. I hope the class is balanced but appealing now.

Heroica RPG - Quest #118: The Tale of the Stolen Spirits
Sandy replied to Flipz's topic in The Heroica Archive
OoC: I don't remember if this has been asked before, but I assume we don't have to destroy the counters in order to win the battle? I find it funny how furniture can be blessed, but that might be just me... Also, you seem to have forgotten that Ellaria is lucky and blessed. Ellaria keeps attacking Huxley, but if she gets damaged on her first turn, she will be spend her second turn nurturing herself instead. The battle order remains the same!- 506 replies

Heroica RPG - Quest#119: The Blackgull Inquisition
Sandy replied to Sandy's topic in The Heroica Archive
The captain gave one last pleading look at the heroes before they left. The crowd of youth was left shouting and jeering after them. Back at Fort Bonaparte, Blackgull was anxiously waiting for the heroes' report. "So, did you find out more than I could? Captain Caldera was brought here in chains earlier. What exactly happened at the Merry Mermaid? Did you find out if Captain Bullsworth had been stealing the weapon shipments himself? And Commander Fogfarer, why has he been speaking against our family?" "Shume'a, I want hear this..." How will the heroes respond? To satisfy Blackgull, they would need to give the truth about at least two of the cases. -
