Those Disney characters are superb! Donald Duck comics are a huge thing here in Finland, so everybody knows all the characters by heart, and you've really hit the nail with each of them. You're still missing Huey, Dewey and Louie out of the "main character" list, though.

I actually have two of this set because of my mishap with Ebay, where I bid both just in case, and neither was outbid. It really is a fun set, and it contains my favorite minifig, Minerva McGonagall. I don't really agree with your opinion about the design, though. The whole build is quite odd with strange elements to it (like the post office downstairs, and the stairway that stops just short of the second floor). But yeah, it's still a very important set in the theme, and fits in perfectly with the rest of the early Hogwarts sets.

Doctor Who, Torchwood, Sarah Jane Adventures...
Sandy replied to The Kid's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Rainbow Daleks! They were so cute! But not as cute as the soldier Daleks pretending to be mindless robots. "Would you like some TEA?!" All in all, I didn't think very highly of the plot in this episode, though. It was quite inane at times, with an airplane flying to the moon in a matter of minutes and shooting lasers with some hocus-pocus "alien technology". And the fact that Amy Pond saves the day in the last minute with some brilliant humane thinking seems to be a recurring plot device now. I always hate it when there's a bomb with a countdown involved, because it's so obvious the heroes are going to defuse it in the last possible second. When a plot point is so tired and clichéd, why do the writers use it so much? The acting was superb in this episode, especially with Winston Churchill. Amy is very sympathetic, but her obsession with the Doctor is a little bit too heavily underlined with the constant forlorn sideway looks and allegories she uses. It was fun to see a Dalek episode where they aren't "wiped out of existence" for once, especially since we viewers know they always come back one way or another. It's better to be honest with the viewers rather than always give the allusion that the Daleks are gone for good. So yeah, "Victory of the Daleks" had many funny moments but a poorly written plot riddled with clichéd plot devices. If the writers aimed for a "campy" feeling, then all kudos to them, because that's exactly what I felt this episode was. Campy. I can't wait for the next episode, though. The Weeping Angels are hands down the creepiest Doctor Who villains, and I love Alex Kingston who plays River Song. It'll be interesting to see how they write her back into the story, since we know she was married to the Tenth Doctor. -
No, he is not Dumbert but a new character, of which you'll learn more in the upcoming chapter. Dancelot and Dumbert will be in this, as well.

OLD Mafia and Mystery Games Index
Sandy replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
My suggestion was "LEGO Forum Games", I don't really think anyone can mistake it's about LEGO video- or boardgames, especially with the description underneath. -
Jee, kiva että tänne tulee muitakin suomalaisia. I'm glad to hear I've improved - it would certainly be sad if I hadn't. Princess Quest was my very first comic with LEGO, after all, and it's been a real learning process ever since.

OLD Mafia and Mystery Games Index
Sandy replied to MagPiesRUs's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Since the variety of games hosted here has greatly increased, in my opinion this forum should be renamed "LEGO Forum Games". Would make it a lot clearer than the current name. -
I can do it now, but honestly though, there aren't that many lands. Brickland is your garden variety medieval kingdom with castles, fields, forests, hills and rivers. It is surrounded by the Black Mountains to the north, the Emerald Ocean to the east, and a great wall around west and south. Brickland is inhabited by mostly humans and dwarves. Tiamat Badlands is an expansive waste to the west of Brickland. It is home to the Dragon Warriors and Nomad Elves. It was visited in Princess Quest, so it will not be featured in Queens' Quest. The Green Isles are located in the Emerald Ocean, near Brickland. They are ruled by the orcs, with ogres and goblins as minority races. The islands used to be as green as their name when only the ogres lived in them, but the orc invaders cut down all the trees. Forest of Nornia lies south of Brickland, and it's filled with fantastical races like satyrs, centaurs, dryads, gnomes and more. North, over the Black Mountains, is another kingdom of humans, with the pending name of Plate Plateau, and beyond that is the Mountain of Mysteries, a magical abode only accessible to wizards. Somewhere in the south lies the Wyrd Hill, where witches gather. And that's about it for the places I've come up with.

I was thinking about a lever piece for the pompom as well. How about you get one where the actual lever is either yellow or red, then take it out of the round base and somehow attach it upside down on the head (so that the bigger end is up)? Would that work?

LEGO Prince of Persia Month - the Eurobricks Contest
Sandy replied to Svelte's topic in LEGO Licensed
What a great contest! I think I might hold off of buying any of the bigger PoP sets, just in case I'd happen to win a prize... (as unlikely as it is with this bunch of talents.) I already have a great idea for the second category, but of course I'll keep it a secret so none you will steal it. I'm thinking about participating in all three categories, but I'll just have to see what I'll get done. A month is not a very long time to build something, after all. Anyway, it's wonderful to see some full-on theme action in EB for a while! It's been quite a while since the last theme month, I must say... -
Cuuuute! Moogles are one of my favorite creatures ever, I even have two plushies of them. Your moogle is certainly recognizable, but I'd still work on him a bit more. I'm mostly bothered by the legs, but also the oversized pompom. The face decal is perfect, though, and the idea for wings is fun.

Well, the sand blue wizard didn't exactly match the Crownies, either, and neither did Majisto for the Dragon Knights. I think it's funny to assume that everyone in the same faction has to wear the exact same colors. He's a wizard, not a soldier in the Kingdoms army, after all. I think the new blue wizard is a great addition to the line of mages we've been given. I'd like to see some new colors and shapes on the beards, though - even the tan beard that appeared in the Grand Carousel would be a pleasant change.

Well, the Creator theme has this set: Fiery Legend And the new collectable minifigs include a Robin Hood -type figure as well.

I saw this earlier on Brickshelf, this is a fantastic MOC! The architecture is intricate, many of the trees and plants are like I never seen before, and it's chock-full of details. The only thing that bothers me a little is that the MOC looks more Chinese to me than Japanese. But that's definitely a minor issue.
-
I don't think the characters wore the capes all the time in the books. I do like the capes, but in the few HP MOCs I've made, I haven't used the capes on the students.
-
These look fun and imaginative. I might just as well borrow your idea if I need a wacky fantasy race for my MOCs someday.

Imperial Soldier's Mafia: Conclusion
Sandy replied to Scouty's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I don't really agree with this. See, the good guys also have night actions like protection and investigation, and if they have no other way of gathering allies to tell what they did other than publicly announce their roles, those actions would be nigh useless. You are right that a host can't control what happens through PMs, but why should they? Mafia-games are played on two levels, as far as my experience goes. One is the public level and one is the hidden level where all the actual strategizing takes place. If the hidden level is taken away from the game, then the players might just as well throw in a random name each day and wait until the scum butchers them all. The real-life version of Mafia works like that, and I know from experience (I play it all the time in the clubs I keep for kids in my job) that it's pure luck if the townies win in it. The bad guys win like 3/4 of the games I host. This is why I prefer this method of playing Mafia we have right here. It gives the good guys a fighting chance as well. -
I'm sorry but from a reader's point of view, that made no sense at all. If this was your first try, then it sure was a nice one. I liked the quality of the pictures, but you still need a lot of work with the comic. A lot. As an amateur comic maker myself, I'm more than happy to give you tips on improving your work, if you want them. If you don't... well, just don't read any further. First of all, check your spelling and grammar. The text makes half of a comic, and your comic was riddled with spelling errors, poor grammar and borderline incomprehensible sentences. Your native language is apparently Spanish (from the way you wrote jaja instead of haha), and I know English is not an easy language, but if your level of skill in English is this low, maybe you should do comics just in your language? Or have someone more skilled in English do the translation? My first language is not English either, and I still make mistakes with it as well despite having studied and used it since I was nine years old, so I understand you. It's just that comics depend so heavily on the writing that a comic really suffers if the language isn't very good. Secondly, add more panels. The scenes in your comic only lasted for one or two panels, which is way too short to really tell anything. If it weren't for the introductions you gave before the comic, I wouldn't have known who any of the people were. You also need to tell the readers more. Now we learned the name of the village, but nothing else. Where is it located? In what year? Make the characters talk or act more, let the readers know them before making someone shoot them. For third, the cow is missing her back. Not a big mistake, but it bothered me. This post is not meant to discourage you from doing more comics, you just really need to think about what you want to tell with your comic. If you want to tell a story, you must pay much more attention to the text and building up a base for the story to grow from. If this was just made for fun and trying out new things, then that's all well and good, but then you should think about if you want to publish them or just keep them to yourself. I sincerely hope I did not offend you in any way, this is all meant as constructive criticism which I hope you learn from, so you can one day give us a wonderful comic about the people of The Hollow Village - or maybe about something completely else. All comic makers start out like you have, if not worse. So keep on doing what you want to do, but also keep your eyes and ears open, and learn.

Imperial Soldier's Mafia: Conclusion

I said I felt sorry, I didn't say I felt guilty. Even a villainess can have compassion toward those she does wrong to. -
Imperial Soldier's Mafia: Conclusion
Sandy replied to Scouty's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
I have a confession to make to WhiteFang, and I hope you don't take it personally, but we scum actually attacked you on the last day on two fronts: we voted you out, but even before that I reported a PM you sent me to ImperialScouts. You weren't allowed to PM, since you were honorable, remember? I even had to take a screencapture of the PM to convince IS, but we voted you out before it took fruit. So sorry about that. I'd say that denying PMs from the honorable (but not from the deserters) was the biggest mistake the host made in this game. If the point was to punish them for not being able to get a conviction, taking away their only chance of cooperation without us scums knowing it would not exactly help in getting a conviction either. I really felt sorry for the good guys in this game, it seemed you didn't really stand a chance. -
Why do people buy new sets and never open them?
Sandy replied to Ambo100's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have a job and I still find time to build all my sets. Jokes aside, I only work part-time and my paycheck (plus the fact that we're saving for a trip to the States in the summer) doesn't really allow me to buy many sets anymore. But this fall I'll be able to get a full-time job and then have loads of money to spend on LEGO. That's the joy of not having kids. I don't think I could ever start investing on MISB sets, though, I'm just not that calculative a person. I just want to collect and build. -
Yes, she was the owl in PQ, revealed to be a priestess of the Aesir in the final chapter. Her transformation into an owl was depicted in the second Chronicle (Brothers-In-Charms), go check it out. And oh yes, she is definitely the villainess of this story.

Me and my boyfriend are visiting the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park in Orlando Florida this June when it opens, and I'm crossing my fingers these sets are available on sale there. It would be a very wise marketing strategy for TLG, after all. Do you hear me, TLG? It would be WISE!

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! I absolutely love the mosaic as well, and will shamelessly use it in the future for my MOCs. The fact that this creation only uses four colors is astounding as well, because it is far from being simplistic. I'm intrigued by the minifigs. Are they all official torsos, or are there decals thrown into the mix? I don't recognize the yellow torso on the white-hooded woman, nor the white torso of the man in the white turban...

Yay, it's here! As a big fan of both Survivor and Lost, I simply must get into this game. So sign me up, please!
