Imperial Soldier's Mafia: Conclusion
Sandy replied to Scouty's topic in LEGO Mafia and Role-Play Games
Aww, it was great that you decided to finish this after all, Scouts! The ending was really well written, I must say. I can sort of understand what made you so fed up with the game that you called quits to it suddenly, but this was still a very nice gesture to us players. I for one had fun with your game. Just for the record, I wasn't a deserter from the beginning, but I was converted (many of you noticed this from my sudden change of behaviour). And yes, Samuel Yellman was in fact a woman called Allison Wainer, disguised as a man to get into the army. So... did we win anyway? -
Oh, it's Nadroj! I suspected he was a member here... Well, I just want to squeeze you to death, Nadroj!

What a great documentary! The people in it were just so endearing and down-to-earth and comfortable with being geeks that it was a total pleasure to watch. Oh, and that Jordan-guy was hot as hell! Cute and passionate about LEGO - that's my kinda guy!

That is actually correct. Warwick Davis (also known for his titular role in "Willow") played the ewok Wicket in Star Wars, and Professor Flitwick as well as the goblin bankteller in Harry Potter. All these have been (or will be) released as minifigs. He also plays a character named Wald in Star Wars, don't know if that has been made into a minifig, though.

I loved the realization of that, too. After a couple of episodes I was like "Bad wolf... Haven't I seen this before?", and when the characters finally realized it as well, I was all giddy and went "I knew it!!!". Good times, indeed. The new tagline "silence will fall" (or something like that) was quite cheaply dropped at the last possible minute, and it was heavily underlined, so the audience couldn't miss the importance of it. I agree that writers should give the audience's intelligence more of a credit, but then again, it's also risky to rely too much on subtlety. We'll just have to see how the future episodes will deal with this... -
It was mainly the Ahsoka-hairpiece that gave me an idea of a werecat to add to the roster of Nornia creatures. Grimmy was originally supposed to be a female, but then I thought I had enough female characters already. The judges were heavily inspired by the Judge Magisters in the video game Final Fantasy XIII. I know people miss it, and I am sorry to say that the hiatus of Time Crash continues. I've hit a sort of dead-end with it, but I hope I will some day find motivation to continue it. Right now I'm just more interested in doing Queens' Quest, though. Sorry again.

Sorry, this is more of a medieval ship (although in a fantasy world), so I don't think cannons were invented then. I did add some crossbows for defense. The Swan isn't really a warship, anyway, just a transportation vessel. And Brickland, Queen Beatrix's country isn't at war with any other nation currently, either.

You're just blinded by the viles of a sexy young woman! Not that I consider her a bad companion, but you've only seen one episode with her, isn't it a bit too soon to judge? Donna Noble is the best companion yet in my eyes, and Amy Pond will have to give me twice over if she ever wants to beat her! -
Adding insult to the fact, the Percy Jackson movie also portrayed the realm of Hades as a fiery pit of eternal suffering (ie. Christian Hell). The movie managed to spoil everything that was good in the books, anyway. As for this "Titans. Will. Clash" movie, I have zero interest in seeing it. I was really into the Greek mythology as a kid, and I hate to see it raped like that. Plus I hear it's all action and zero plot, so there.

Thank you for all your comments! I did as many of you suggested and combined the blue parts together, and it does look more streamlined and cohesive now. I also made some adjustments to the rigging, and added some details (including a crest and crossed swords above the cabin door, and two crossbows at the bow). You'll soon be seeing The Swan sailing in my comic in her full glory.

This is "The Swan", a fantastical vessel of her majesty, Queen Beatrix of Brickland. It will be featured in the upcoming chapters of my comic, Queens' Quest (links available in my signature). It's a small and fast ship, used in short distance travels (Beatrix of course has a large ship at her disposal, too). Here's the different sides of it. Pay in mind that I have no idea how to build an authentic ship, so this might miss some crucial parts needed for seatravel. Also note that the masts are almost directly copied from the Armada Flagship, since I didn't know how else to fit the sails. I did switch their places, though. Here's a close-up shot of the figurehead that gives the ship it's name (alongside the "tail" at the other end of the ship). The swan is wearing a crown since this is a royal ship. I also tried to attach an anchor to the ship, but it just looked too big and bulky so I took it out. Here's the colorful rudder and details of the back: I tried to make an interior for the cabin, but it was just too crammed to function properly, so I didn't finish it and left it out of this photoshoot. And finally, here's the young queen herself, in her naval attire, posing as she's steering the ship. Good thing she has a captain to do that job, though, because she is no sailor. If you have any comments, suggestions or improvements, I'd be more than happy to hear them!

Loved to see the Doctor back in action, with a new face and a whole new look-out on things! No more carrying the burden of the whole existence on his shoulder like the Tenth Doctor, Matt Smith's version knows how awesome he is. I really like Amy Pond, too. I genuinely felt for her after she was left waiting for so long, and her obsession with the Doctor really sets her apart from the earlier companions. Really looking forward to seeing all the adventures these two get in on! -
Ooh, twisty! I knew Josh would die sooner or later, so that Mr. Homebreaker could get his woman. Btw, I finished reading Est. 62, and what an epic it was! You really made all the cast members stand out from each other with just small nyances, like you have in this comic as well. And I love how you implement humor into these serious stories, too. Keep it up, please!

This is nothing new. The broomstick pieces (which have been around forever) also scratch and flake when used, I've noticed. It's definitely the fault of the softer plastic used in them.
-
You are right, I stand corrected. The lighting made the print look matte, and created a white stripe around the printing to make it look like a paper sticker. But if somebody now jumps up and shouts "April Fools!", I'm going to punch that person virtually in the nose. I was fooled once today already. I do hope they use the Dastan hairpiece in black for the final figure, though, rather than that age-old hairpiece.
-
Okay, if it wasn't April the 1st, I'd be convinced that these are actual prelim figs, but you can't blame me for being sceptical today, right? Anyway, the prince's torso IS a decal, just look at the border of the "printing". Now, if it's an official prelim or a fake, I can't say at this point. Somebody could just be mimicking the Advent Calendar pic for all we now.
-
It's a decal. Nice try, though.

I've now opened a "Who's Who" topic for this comic, go check it out if you're interested in the various cast members.

Queens' Quest is a sequel to my Castle-themed Princess Quest comic, and I did a similar "Who's Who" topic for it back in the day (the links are available in my signature). Since Queens' Quest introduces a sleuth of new characters aside the returning ones, I've decided that a similar character compendium topic would be in place for it as well. I will update this topic whenever I publish a new chapter for the comic with new characters, so you can always check who exactly is who in my comic from here. The Cast of Queens' Quest ~Forest of Nornia~ Xulda/Princess Berenice, the Maiden, 20 As the long lost twin sister of Beatrix, Xulda comes to realize her status as one of the three Norns, queens of the witches, as well as the would-be queen of Brickland. Her adventurous nature dares her to seek out her destiny. Verda, the Mother, 42 The second Norn is a real dragon for a woman. Her words are like flames, but her heart is hot with passion as well. Urda, the Hag, 68 The oldest of the Norns speaks with the experience brought by her age and her status as a queen of witches. Her dry humour gives a hint of a sharp mind. Iahn The happy-go-lucky satyr does what his kind do best: frolic around in forests. However, his fondness of the young witch Xulda leads him out of his environment, and suddenly world is not such a happy place after all. Willow The beautiful dryad is the closest friend of Xulda. She knows much more about witches than she reveals, having befriended countless of them during her long lifetime. Grimmy The timid werecat has developed a crush for Xulda, but has never had the courage to say it out loud. Protos The loud and proud centaur considers himself the guardian of the forests of Nornia. Largo No one knows what exactly he is, other than that he is big, blue and strong as an ox. Rubio, Sapphiro & Emeraldo The infamous Gnome Bros know their way across the entire Nornia, and beyond. ~Brickland~ Queen Beatrix, 20 Three years have passed since her quest to save Brickland and eventual rising to the throne. She has been a just queen, but many feel she needs a man to rule by her side. Remaining ever independent and optimistic, she has thus far refused every suitor she has had. Sir Roderic, 16 The kind young squire attained knighthood shortly after the Battle of Brickborough. Now he serves as the personal guardian knight to Queen Beatrix, proudly following the footsteps of his late master, Sir Brickhart. Hawke/Legolas, 121 The wandering elf remained in Brickborough and was nominated as the Royal Warden of the queen’s grounds. Despite having found a home, his heart yearns to travel once more. Muse, 17 The court jester was orphaned by the Battle of Brickborough, and thus wants to spread joy with her merry stories and jolly ballads. Unfortunately, she just tends to annoy people. Zanzibar, 76 The old coot of an wizard still argues with his clone, but he senses that something changed in the other Zanzibar when they arrived to Brickland three years ago. Both of them now serve as the Court Wizards of Queen Beatrix. Master Burnbeard, 373 The dwarven smith stayed in Brickborough, taking over the castle’s smithy. He has started to overcome his prejudice against women in power, all thanks to Queen Beatrix. Sir Brighton Bley, 22 Duke Bley sent his son to become both a knight for Queen Beatrix and a spy for himself. Being arrogant and self-centred, Brighton enjoys the power given to him by his dual status. Sir Dancelot, 28 As boastful as ever, Dancelot wants to constantly prove himself to Queen Beatrix and the other knights. Dumbert, 14 Sir Dancelot’s loyal squire who still holds a sort of rivalry with Roderic, despite the fact that he is a knight now. Dame Etna, the Blood Knight, 35 A former knight of Brickland has turned into a rogue leading a band of criminals to terrorize the countryside. What caused her to give up knighthood in place of banditry is a mystery to all but her. Steward Oldwyn, 63 The keeper of Castle Brickborough who tries in vain to conserve the old ways. Lady Confucia, 49 Queen Beatrix’s fussy lady-in-waiting, who does not appreciate how the queen refuses to take a husband. Duke Sandred, 46 The governing lord of Brickhaven, who has been troubled by the raids of the Blood Knight in the countryside surrounding his town. Captain Boreal, 207 This Marine Elf has been in service of the royalty of Brickland for well over a century. His ship, The Swan, is the fastest vessel sailing in the Emerald Ocean. Notuz, 186 The first mate in The Swan who is Captain Boreal’s kinsman and trusted companion. He holds a distain towards elves living in the land. ~Floating Realm~ Minerva A priestess on a quest to gather all four of the Fallen Stars for her people. After a century spent in captivity in the form of an owl, this quest has become much more personal to her. She already managed to obtain three of the Stars from the Judges, and is now secretly observing the Green Isles in order to find the whereabouts of the last one. Fabuland The former Court Wizard of Brickland now spends his days in whichever form his capturer and former lover Minerva desires, as a revenge of what he did to her. He can only hope that one day she will make a mistake and he can finally be free. Judges Ishtar, Brahma, & Tyr The three Judges of the High Ones ruling the Floating Realm. They wish to eventually see all four Fallen Stars at the hands of the Aesir, for they believe they are the most deserving of all races to have them. Humans of Brickland view them as deities. ~Wyrd Hill~ Vivian Oldest of all witches , she acts as the prophet of the Great Mother, the goddess of nature. All commentary is more than welcome!

Wow, that's a great creation considering it only uses pieces from one set. And I love the idea of it being river-side with a raft for the good guys, not just any palace. Nice thinking on that part! Can't wait to get my hands on this set so that I can incorporate all those great pieces to MOCs of my own.
-
Not such a happy bunch anymore! I have to admire you for the speed you do these, yet the quality doesn't suffer. Of course using the same sets helps the production, though. The token black guys always seem to be the voice of reason, I've noticed. Btw, I'd love to include black characters to my own comic, but I only have one brown headpiece, and it has orange sunglasses on it. Gotta get me some more versatility.
-
I've somehow missed this topic before, but I'd love to be included again this year with Beatrix. Hope you break your goal of 100 figs! The sword is optional, by the way.

I don't think there were any palm trees in Persia. At least not the likes LEGO has produced...
-
Was I being mean? I'm sorry, it wasn't my intention. I do have a straightforward way of saying things, you shouldn't take it personally. I do think that Western-fans are a minority among us AFOLs, even though you yourself might love the theme to death. If it really had a lasting appeal, it would've gone on for much longer than two years. I guess time has just ran past the days when kids played cowboys and indians.
-
Wow, what a fantastic creation! I can't believe it actually walks! I wouldn't want to be on it, though, it looks like a bumpy ride, and not a very fast one either.
