  1. It lasts for one battle, like all temporary effects.
  2. Abandoning her attempt to figure out the railroad schematic, Ellaria approached the orcish wizard. "Greetings, Master Orc. Fancy meeting another surface-dweller this deep underground."
  3. No, Angelic Aria (and other such Battle Songs) is only calculated by the level of the Minstrel. They are not spells in the literal sense.
  4. "Heavens no!" Quintessa gasped. She ordered a goblet of gin from Scheherazade and took a civilized sip. "That would be unbecoming of a Queen Consort, let alone the Queen Mother! But there are other ways to defend one's honor, young woman. Growing up, We were quite popular with the noblemen, and We had to resort to unspeakable methods to keep the most enthusiastic ones away. And nowadays, someone might mistake Us for a frail old woman to be easily disgraced. Why do you think We carry this rolling pin in Our possession all the time? We do like to bake goodies, but it also has other uses." Quintessa gave Jinnipher a subtle wink, then sipped on her drink once more. "Hmm, if you really are so uneducated about Heartland around here, We must do something about it." The Queen Mother reached into her apron's pocket again, and rummaged around. "Quite handy, having a pocket-of-holding in one's apron, We must say... Ah, here it is!" She procured a small parchment scroll and opened it for Jinnipher to see. "Behold, Our homeland!"
  5. "Greetings, sister. I'm afraid you are asking way too much for something that has no initial use in them. I can give you 50 gold for them, at most."
  6. "I beg your pardon?" Quintessa gasped. Her eyes flared up and her nostrils enlargened, but then she took a deep breath and composed herself. "We shall overlook your insolence this once, young woman. Surely you are merely uncultured and unaccustomed to be in the presence of royalty. We do think it is a crying shame the nobility does not mingle with the common folk more often. There is so much they could learn from your simpler way of life." "But surely you jest that you have never heard of Our beloved Heartland? Why, it is south from here, at the literal heart of Mistaria. The trade cities dot the coast, and far south lie the endless Mistland jungles, but most everything that lies in-between belongs to the grand Kingdom of Heartland. We are a peaceful nation, focused on agriculture, so it is rare we would require help from Heroica." "It is quite alright, young man. Such is the way of us women. We Ourselves can be quite... adamant when We want to have Our way." "Oh, pish-posh! We in Heartland still root for the traditional hanging." "We understand", Quintessa said with a nod. "Life as a sellsword must be stressful, and surely you need a way to vent off every once in a while. We have a bad habit of channeling Our frustration to bystanders, as well, but We trust We will find camaraderie and mutual respect here. To celebrate that, here are sweets for everyone!" Quintessa reached into the pocket of her apron and handed out candy canes to Jinnipher, Lind, Terry and Kheyli. After hearing Lind's question, she cocked up her eyebrows. "Why, look at the time. It is gin o'clock already!" Pleased with herself, Quintessa sailed to the counter.
  7. Thanks! I really love how she turned out. See the first page of the Rules topic. It works differently for enemies, since they don't have "turns" per se.

  9. The doors of Heroica Hall swung open as two trumpeteers in liveries marched in and blew a fanfare with their instruments. "Introducing Her Majesty Quintessa, the Queen Mother of Heartland, Grand Duchess of Lylia, Dame of the Most Venerable Order of the Lily and Protector of All Children!" Scheherazade descended from the saloon to see the cause of the ruckus, only to get handed a sweet pie. "A regal lime pie, a salutation from the Court of Savalon, if you please." "Umm, thank you... Your Majesty. Are you here to pitch a quest, perhaps?" "By gods, no! We are here to join your renown organization. Or rather, Our son, King Jovis of Heartland, strongly adviced We would. So here We are." As the Queen Mother extended her hand, the heralds rushed to remove her long trail and tiara. "Please, call Us Quintessa. No need to be formal, We are here to become one of you commoners. Our son thought Our... resolution ought to be harnessed into fighting evil, instead of keeping order around the castle. We must admit that We were glad to venture elsewhere for the time being. The new queen Our son chose for himself is frankly put an insufferable wench. But We do not want to hear another word about her. Please show Us the wonders of this Hall We have heard so much about." The Queen Mother turned to the heralds one last time. "You are excused. We shall take care of Ourselves from here on out." Lifting her dress up, Quintessa began ascending the stairs to the saloon, leaving the perplexed Scheherazade stare after her. "And I thought I had seen every type of wannabe hero there was..." The matron followed the newest hero to grace the Hall, shaking her head. Quintessa of Heartland (played as a second character by Sandy) 67 years old human female Barbarian Level 1 Power: 4 (1+3) Health: 8/8 Gold: 10 Equipment: Rolling Pin (WP:3, club) Inventory: Potion, Mead
  10. What would be the difference in doing that? The point of starting over from scratch is that you start over from scratch - not just have the same build with the same items but a different face. It has been agreed that players who retire their characters may give their items to other players, but not their new characters.
  11. I guess Toxikita's hair is the only passable solution from the current hairpiece selection, and it's far from perfect.
  12. As Boomingham walked to the Marigold Hotel, he passed by Cobra Priest Djuvali. "Ah, Sir Boomingham! I almost did not recognize you there. Is that a Royal Rainbow Knight's armour you're wearing? Never mind that, I have been hearing marvelous things about your endeavours around the city. You would not happen to have some rare venoms for me, would you?" Heckz had to endure the longwinded Midday Ceremony all over again before he got a chance to meet with Magister Lapis Lazuli again. "Master Brutenhal, glad to see you have returned in a timely manner. What is your report of the weather around Salmanda?" QM Note: That will take you to a different time period than the others, so I'll have to sort out their business first.
  13. Kabob happily accepted the two meat lumps, tossing them to the fly-infested basket next to his stall. "Splendid! Here's the reward two gold for your trouble, foreigner. I'll gladly accept more meat from you in the future, and I'll be sure to spread the word of what a great provider you are! You can now enjoy all the kebabs you can eat. Would you like one right away?" The subquest "Mystery Meat" is successful! The party's influence has increased! Party at the Souk: Sgt. 14. Ellaria is clearly Neutral Good. She has the best of everyone in her heart, and has been quite gullible and naive due to that. However, she is not really following any rules or regulations, since most of the worshippers of Sylvania are not an organized religion, and Sylvania is a feral goddess herself. My second character, which I'm going to reveal very soon, is going to be Lawful Neutral. I wrote her backstory yesterday, and I'm already loving her. She's certainly nothing Heroica has seen before...
  15. Like with the other classes, I'd like to see the master classes in action before making any nerfs. Except that the game will end before that happens. Right now I'm predicting the game to run for two more years, but it could be less or more depending on how active people are.
  16. But that restriction has been there ever since it was introduced, even though it wasn't blatantly written out. I thought it was obvious... The letter is written by the Veterans to any house of the recipient's choosing, so the idea that it could be freely passed around is odd to me.
  17. Nope, Letters of Recommendation are personal. Think about it as a CV - you can't apply to a job with one that has someone else's name on it.
  18. But does it also poison them or what? Thanks, I tried to amp the creepy factor to the max! #135 turned out to be one big boss fest, gotta say... No point making such a powerful party fight rats and bats any longer.

  20. QM Note: Added your Lottery winnings. Palathadric, I cannot apply your Paralyzing Venom because I have no idea what it does. I cannot even find where it originated with the search function, because it doesn't work on the oldest topics for some reason. I found some mention it from Quest#53, but no description... As the heroes prepared to face whatever was coming around the corner, they saw wisps of translucent mist curl at their feet. It stank horribly of decay and rot. A hollow, cackling laughter echoed in the tunnel. "KYAH KYAH KYAH! IT HAS BEEN A LOOONG TIME ANYONE HAS VISITED MY MAZE. HOW ARE YOU ENJOYING BEING TRICKED?" The heroes bravely ran to face their opponent, but nothing could have prepared them for what they saw around the tunnel bend. A gigantic skeletal jester crawled towards them, with smaller skeletons hanging from ethereal strings attached to his bony fingers. "...CAUSE NOW IT IS TIME FOR YOU TO GET TREATED! KYAHAHA! COME, PLAY WITH FARFARELLO! YOU ARE SURE TO HAVE A GAS! KYAH!" PREPARE FOR BATTLE! 22. Yay, Final Fantasy stuff made out of LEGO! I love when people combine some of my favorite things. Ah, that makes sense, since I didn't think some of the minifigs were very true to their original looks... But Amano's artwork is quite different from the sprites, after all. Anyway, I love your Celes, Cyan, the brick-built Mog, and I applaud you for not taking the obvious solution with Umaro and just use the default Yeti minifig. If you mean the one on Setzer, it is the hair of Storm from the X-Men.
  23. "Thank you for your cooperation. We will be back", Ellaria said to Xor Bixbeard, trying to maintain her posture. "Very well, we will start at the residential district and try to find our way to the lower tiers."
  24. "Unusually sloppy for dwarves, from what I've seen. You people sure love your law and order..." "I take it that the mines are locatedin the last of the three cities, Frumpknob?"
  25. "Curious..." Ellaria muttered, noting the misarranged carts. She pointed this out to Xor. "Doesn't this imply that the shipments are being tampered with? Any insight you want to share?" "Too many to count, Dumora. Too many to count..." Ellaria sighed. "Unless you have someone specific in mind?"
