Interesting. I can understand that people that haven't got as many LEGO sets when they were kids are lacking in black parts where as I am overflowing in them. I pretty much never use LBG or DBG parts unless the model is specifically in that color (Like my motion simulator) or the part simply doesn't exist in black. I also agree that black can be hard to photograph, and also that it hides the "holes" in a MOC quite well. It's truly a balance thing, that takes a lot of trial and error to learn.

I have been wondering about this for a while. TLG seems to be going away from using black parts in their sets and using dark/light bluish gray instead or even red pieces in their chassis of models. I can understand this from a childs point of view as to ease the building process. However, I also see a lot of MOC's with barely any black parts in them and to some extent I understand why (highlighting details that would be hard to photograph) but when I see the bottom of a car or whatever made with no black pieces I just wonder why. To me, black pieces represent the real thing better as other colors (example, the chassis of the new 42070 6x6 All Terrain Tow Truck set is pretty much all red) which I feel gives off a better look. I honesly don't care for the looks of that particular set. But maybe I'm just having trouble finding a balance between black and dark bluish gray pieces. When to use what and why. What are your thoughts on this?

I agree. I find my self looking at models that are really nice and cool looking - rarely cars though - that I don't care about the internals anymore. When I am building however, I'm the complete opposite. I have never created a MOC where the bodywork was lifelike, but all the functionality has always been present. I don't know where to go with this, but I like functionality as much as the next guy, and first impressions are very important too.

Doesn't have to be half width, but can max be 1 width. Also, it's gonna be a main support, which is why I wanted it to be 1 piece. I was just wondering if there was a piece like that, it doesn't have to be exactly that but still somewhat.

Conveyor belt

Looks like it would work if you just made the tube wider to cover the entire thing, also in real life, there's a lot of weight on the conveyor to keep it down. -
Clutch Gears

Sorry for bumping, but does this mean that if I put a clutch gear on my buggy motor at 1000rpm at a 1:1 ratio (meaning directly) it wouldn't work as intended? To clarify, does the clutch gear need to be going at a slow speed in order to function correctly? -

Hello guys, I'm quite far into a project and the only thing I need to get started for real is to make functional augers like in the image shown below. The width will be 3 studs and the total length can vary from 5 to 6 studs I looked at Clausens Europa machine thing and I like his solution, but it's not effective as the spiraling auger is too slim/narrow. I also tried using flex hoses but the distance seems to be too short to make a proper spiral with. Should I just skip the auger entirely and make some sort of chamfer or narrowing down of the channel. I fear the bottleneck would become rather severe, but then again, I haven't tested it.

Unless you join all of the turntables together, with a large enough vehicle, you will find that it will sag in the middle where the rotating part is. You don't have to build anything massive just to test it, just build a frame that you think will work and then put some weight on either side, like 1 or 2 kg's to test out the rigidity and strenght of the join.

I reckon that there's too much friction between the bevel gears and the ring for the entire thing to turn properly. I think you should skip the idea of rotating the ring by the gears on it, and instead use the turntable to turn it with. Then you could make a simple 4-point connection from the ring to the turntable. However, don't use the gears of the turntable to spin the wheel, connect the EV3 motor directly to the attachment points on the turntable it self.
